"If the wedding was another day, I could go and find some frogs. I always wanted to have a frog as a pet," Davy said eagerly "Davy! You know Aunt Beth hates frogs!" Dora reminded him. "She hates all animals except cats." Davy said. " I don't like Aunt Beth's cat very much. Yesterday I wanted to sit on a chair but I didn't notice that the cat was sitting there. I accidentally sat on its tail. It was about to bite me."

"Is that why you dont like it?" Anne who was holding little Kenneth and sitting on the couch asked.

Davy nodded "Yeah, besides it doesn't do anything interesting. The only thing it does is snorting. Cats are very boring. I prefer a dog. My friend Milty Boulter who lives in Avonlea had a dog and we always played with it . Of course, Dora was always afraid of that dog. She didn't even dare to approach it."

"That dog was more like a wolf. Don't make fun of me." Annoyed, Dora defended herself.

Mrs. Keith's sister was to be married that day and she had asked Anne to take care of the twins , because she wanted to go to her mother's house to help."I can't take Davy with me because it might cause trouble again. Dora should be with him to play together. I am really sorry to give you such a responsibility, dear. If you have the slightest problem with them, send them here , I'll take care of them anyway."

Leslie wanted to go somewhere , so she left Kenneth with her. Now the little boy was sleeping in her arms, and Anne was silently looking at his small, beautiful face. She wasn't upset about taking care of the children. Her endless love for children made her always enjoy being with them.

Anne was comparing the twins in her mind. The twins were not noticeably alike, although both were fair. Dora had long sleek curls that never got out of order. Davy had a crop of fuzzy little yellow ringlets all over his round head. Dora's hazel eyes were gentle and mild. Davy's were as roguish and dancing as an elf's. Dora's nose was straight, Davy's a positive snub; Dora had a "prunes and prisms" mouth, Davy's was all smiles; and besides, he had a dimple in one cheek and none in the other, which gave him a dear, comical, lopsided look when he laughed. Mirth and mischief lurked in every corner of his little face. The twins were still arguing. "You're scared of everything. Even the ants." Davy said mercilessly"Do you remember the time you sat under the tree and saw the ants on your skirt? You started screaming. Ants dont harm anyone .besides it was your own fault , you were sitting next to their formicary..."

"Rachel!" A terrified voice was heard from outside the house. Anne looked out the window and saw two women: one tall and thin and the other a little shorter and fatter whose face showed that she was not feeling well. The taller woman was helping her friend stand up, bu"Can I help you?" Anne asked as she came out. " Oh ,no thanks. I think I just got sunstrucked."

"You can't go on like this. You need to rest a little." Anne said as she helped her get up. " It's really kind of you." Said the taller woman.

"Marilla!" Davy shouted excitedly. He and Dora ran towards the guests. "We had not seen you for a long time!"

" Davy! Dora! What a surprise!" The taller woman said, then turned to Anne , "Sorry, we forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm Marilla Cuthbert and this is my friend, Rachel Lynde." Anne felt like she'd heard her name before, and suddenly remembered that Davy had talked about them. "I'm glad to meet you. Davy has told me so much about you. My name is Anne Shirley. You're from Avonlea, right?"Miss Cuthbert nodded."Yes, Davy and Dora lived with me for a while before their uncle brought them here," Anne brought some water for Mrs. Lynde and took Kenneth out of his basket "thank you." Mrs. Lynde, who felt a little better, drank the water. The baby reached for Anne's hair and tried to grab it, but to no avail." What a beautiful baby he is. Is he your only child?" Mrs. Lynde asked, caressed his little hand. Anne felt her cheeks turn pink" Oh,no. I...I mean , he isn't my baby. He is one of my friends' son." There was no sound for a while, except for Davy's eloquence, who excitedly recounted to Miss Cuthbert all the adventures he had had since coming to Four Winds.

Marilla Cuthbert was a tall, thin woman, with angles and without curves; her gray streaks and was always twisted up in a hard little knot behind with two wire hairpins stuck aggressively through it. She looked like a woman of narrow experience and rigid conscience, which she was; but there was a saving something about her mouth which, if it had been ever so slightly developed, might have been considered indicative of a sense of humor.

Mrs. Rachel Lynde looked different from her. She was a short, fat woman with eyes that seemed to miss no detail. Anne knew from what Gilbert had told her that she was always aware of everything that happened at Avonlea.

"Are you going to come to Aunt Beth's sister's wedding too?" Dora asked eagerly." Well yes. Honestly Rachel was hesitant to come or not, but she finally decided to come." Miss Cuthbert answered" Come on Rachel, we have to go. We have abused Miss Shirley's hospitality enough. Goodbye, Miss Shirley, thank you for your help. I hope to see you again." She said and smiled gratefully at her. "If you ever come to Avonlea, We'll be happy to see you." Mrs Lynde added.

"Wow, when I lived with Marilla I did not think I would miss her at all. Because she's very stingy with her plum jam," Davy said thoughtfully ."It's not right to talk like that about someone who has taken care of you in the past."

" But I don't know why she didn't give us jam more than three or four times during that time. "

"And you could very well resist the temptation to filch some jam." Dora who had decided to retaliate, said sarcastically "I didn't filch anything!" Davy exclaimed.

The sun kindly continued to shine through the blue sky, allaying Mrs. Keith's concern that it might rain. It was a beautiful summer day, very suitable for a wedding. It was a little hot, which was why Davy was constantly struggling with the collar of the shirt his aunt had forced him to wear. His curly hair was neat and combed, and his round face was perfectly clean from repeated washing. Dora wore a blue shirt and white shoes, and her golden hair was tied with a blue ribbon. Unlike her brother, she was not upset about being there, while Davy wouldn't stop complaining. " Anne! Aunt Beth says that little boys should dress like gentlemen at such times. Why?It is very annoying! I don't think you understand me because no one forces you to do what you don't want to . when I grow up ,I will never dress like this nor will I wash my face four times before going to a wedding." He said with a frown, pulling the collar of his shirt again. Anne stroked his hair. "Please stop nagging, Davy. Isn't it a pity to complain about such a small matter on such a beautiful day?"

"Yeah, it's a good day. But it's not going to end."

"Would you do me the honor, Miss Shirley?" Gilbert asked as he came to her , his hazel eyes twinkling as he watched her "Sure!"

Gilbert couldn't help but stare at her. He had tried to stop himself from doing so before , but after a while he understood that it was impossible for him. And this disability had peaked especially that day: She was wearing a blue collarless poplin dress. The color of the dress beautifully reflected her milk-white skin and red hair. This dress was one of his favorites, but still in his opinion nothing could replace the green rosebod dress she wore on Christmas day.

" How things are going?" He asked.

" Very well, the school will open in two weeks. Davy is excited about coming to school this year. I do not know if he can stop his mischief or not."

" If I were you, I would not be too hopeful. I remember the first week those two kids were at Sunday at church, Marilla Cuthbert looked as if she had not slept for a week. To make matters worse, Davy placed the catterpillar he found on the steps in front of the church on the neck of a girl sitting on the front ..."

"AHHH!" Someone screamed in annoyance and then the sound of something being torn was heard "You careless rude boy! Look what you did!" Davy inadvertently had stepped on a woman's skirt and tore the fabric. The two looked away from the scene and tried to hold back their laughter. Fortunately, they did well. As they continued to dance, two women watched them from afar with interest." Marilla, look there. That is Gilbert Blythe ." Rachel Lynde informed. Marilla raised her head. It had been a long time since she had last seen him. Now he looked exactly like his father did. At that moment, all his attention was on that young girl, "If I remember correctly, she is the girl who helped us today." Marilla never judged anyone's character unless she knew the person for at least a week. But this time, after watching the girl for a while, she came to the conclusion that she is very lovable and pleasant.

It was clear from the way Gilbert looked at het that he also strongly believed in it. Rachel apparently paid attention to this as well " I think the boy is in love. As you know, I never make mistakes in such cases." She said confidently. She was always surprised that the boy never showed interest in any of the girls in Avonlea , but now he seemed to have found the one he wanted.

Gilbert no longer ignored Christine when she spoke. It was true that she talked a lot, but she also said interesting things sometimes. Now she was almost a friend to him.

Christine, contrary to her usual habit, stopped talking for a while. "Oh, Mr. Keith's worker is here today." She said after a few seconds " I didn't think he would come because I had heard that he had not been well for some time. But now he doesn't look sick at all. Don't you think so?"

Gilbert turned to look at Mr. Keith's worker. He had a bad cold last week and had to rest for three days. As Christine said, he was quite well now. Gilbert noticed that the young man was talking to Anne and occasionally smiled at her . Seeing this scene gave him a feeling he had never experienced before: A mixture of surprise and a little anger.

"What's wrong with you Blythe? She is just talking to him." He blamed himself and tried to get rid of this stupid feeling.
