"What do you mean that we can't leave!"

It was 8 pm on a Friday night and the older children were eager to finally go to a party that they heard about from tv. Millard and Emma wanted to go so terribly bad but unfortunately, Miss P was not having it.

"Mr. Portman, where on earth do you intend to take my wards?"

Of course, Jacob would never tell her. He rather gets pinned by a Hallow than get scowled by the bird.

"A friend's place."

"Jacob doesn't have friends, " Claire shouted, "he's hanging out with us or alone with Emma in his room!"

The sixteen-year-olds face turned red.

"It's for our education!" Millard said, stepping in.

Emma soon got the hint.

"Yeah, it's to help us to fit in more, " Emma said, now joining in. "You said we needed more lessons about the modern world so why not a teenager from this time to help us out?"

This intrigued Miss Peregrine.

"Does this boy know?"

The boy had been Jacob's best friend since he was six. They drifted apart just a little before Abe Portman's death, but once Jacob came back it was like he never left. Noah Olson knows about all of the kids that he lives with and their 'special sets of skills'.

"Yes," Jacob whispered.

The young lady gave a stern look to the three children before dismissing them. Holy shit. Holy shit, it actually worked. Jacob thought as he was running to the car with Emma and Millard.

Emma and Millard sat in the back feeling giddy and anxious.

"Jacob, I'm so excited!" Millard gasped.

Jacob smiled while pulling up to Noah's where the party was. The three teens stepped out of the car when suddenly they heard a noise coming from the trunk.

"Oh, boy…" Emma sighed.

Millard opened the trunk and a thirteen-year-old death riser popped up.

"Enoch! Go home!" Millard spat.

The three other teens were pissed. There was no way that they would bring a thirteen-year-old into a house party.

"Actually, I think I will stay," Enoch said.

"No way!" Jacob snapped. "Get in the car and I'll bring you back."

"Bring me back and I'll tell the bird that you took Emma and Millard to a party."

Jacob filled with anger before letting in. He shoved the keys into his pocket and nearly shoved Enoch into the house. Emma pushed back her hair and Millard made sure that his hood and giant sunglasses would be enough to make himself not look so obvious. The house was dark, only colorful flashing lights and the music was blaring, basically shaking the house.

"Portman!" Noah shouted from across the house. The teen was taller than Jacob and had bright blue eyes and light blond hair.

"Hey, Olson, " Jacob said while giving the boy a weird handshake.

"Emma, Millard, and-" Noah gave the younger boy a confused look.

"Enoch." The younger boy corrected before wandering off.

"Anyways, " Noah continued. "There's alcohol, juice, and pretty much everything so help yourselves."

With that, he left.

If Jacob could predict the future, he would've stayed home. Millard took his first shot while Emma took small sips of a cold Martini from a bag that a group of girls handed out. They were buzzed at most but Jacob was still sober. They needed a ride and he can't trust them since they could both be intoxicated and neither have their license. Enoch was wise and refused any drinks but somehow flirted with the older girls who thought he was 'adorable'. He left Emma on the couch by herself while Millard was in some dark area in the house. Jacob went to go leave for some air. In that two-minute small time window was all it took for his best friend to swoop in to kiss his girlfriend. He watched him lean on top of her and Jacob tackled him to the ground.

"Don't. You. Dare. Touch. Her."

Noah gave Jacob a death glare as blood dripped from his lip. Noah lunged himself back at Jacob but was somehow stopped. Noah was struggling against an invisible force while a drink was being dumped on his head. Jacob couldn't help but let out a smirk and then ran, taking Emma's hand. They were laughing and running. Why were they laughing and running? What happened was petty but they were kids and who cares? Jacob and Emma knew they were twisted for grabbing a hold of each other's hands and laughing like madmen. Of course, they knew...

"Uh, Jacob, " Millard said, interrupting their hand-holding. "I think we should go before-"

Millard was cut off when a beer bottle was thrown directly at Jacob, causing him to stumble back a bit. Emma took Jake's hand while Millard followed. They dashed through the house and almost made it to the car but quickly realized that they left a certain death riser at the party.

"Millard, take Jacob and I'll go find Enoch," Emma demanded before running back into the house, screaming for Enoch.

Millard nodded and set Jacob in the backseat. Jacob had blood dripping from his eyebrow and swelling was forming on his left eye.

"How bad is it?" Jacob asked.

"I've seen you look worse?" The invisible boy said.

Jacob let out a soft chuckle.

"How are we gonna get home?" Jacob sighed "my vision is blurry, Emma doesn't want to drive until she passes her drivers test, and I don't know how to explain to a cop if we get pulled over while you're driving why you're just a sweatshirt and sunglasses."

"Please don't tell me-"

The car door opened with a very confused Emma and Enoch who had red lipstick all over his cheek. Without a beat, Millard spoke.

"Guess what, Enoch. You're driving."

Emma wanted to protest but she observed the situation and gave in. She traded spots with Millard while Enoch let out a giddy scream. The boy sped across the neighborhood and Jacob was sure that they were gonna get pulled over. Jacob laid his head on Emma's lap, probably getting blood on her skirt. His eyes were fluttering shut and Emma found herself patting his cheek every few minutes to keep him awake. The car journey that would usually take fifteen minutes only took five. They all bolted out the car and into their house. It was almost one in the morning so they had to be really quiet. Millard twisted the knob as quietly as he could and slowly opened the door. Inside was pitch dark, which relieved everyone. Emma took Jacob to his room while everyone else went their separate ways. Emma sat Jacob down to check for a concussion, which he surprisingly showed no signs of one. She cleaned him up and sat with him for a while.

"Emma, " Jacob called out. "I'm sorry."

Emma was a little taken back.

"For what, Jacob?"

"This was supposed to be one of the greatest nights of your new life and I ruined it and now you're stuck here with me and had some stranger's lips on yours. I- I am so sorry."

Emma rubbed the boys back and let out a chuckle.

"Jacob, this was the best night of my " new" life. I got to go to the modern world! I got to finally leave and I was with you. I love you, Jacob Portman. If I'm with you, it will always be the best night of life."

Jacob shifted to a position where he was looking right at the blonde's eyes. Emma gazed down at him. It was a familiar feeling to see him all bruised up but it never mattered.

"I think I'm in love with you, Emma Bloom," Jacob whispered.

"I think we established that-"

"No, " Jacob said, cutting her off. "I'm in love with you. I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. I wanna grow up and I wanna be a part of you. I don't ever wanna say goodbye to us because there's no me without you, Emma. I'm so in love with you, it hurts."

Jacob was nearly bawling. His eyes were drowning and so were Emma's.

"I'm so in love with you too, Jacob…"

That was the last thing she said before falling asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning Miss Peregrine didn't suspect a thing, that was until Jacob finally woke up at the bright early hour of one in the afternoon. Miss P figured it was because of the late study hour but Emma and Millard woke up around eight, so why was Jacob different? She knew that kid was riddled with nightmares but still, shouldn't he be up at least before noon?

Jacob walked out with his hair in every direction. He was aware it was one but didn't care. He finally has gotten a night's sleep without a single nightmare. It was a nice break from having weeks of constant nightmares and waking up. Not even one step into the living room there was an odd feeling.

"Ah, Mr. Portman it's very nice for you to be joining us." Miss Peregrine said, not even looking at the boy.

He let out a half-smile before going to sit on the couch next to Hugh.

"Jacob! What happened to you?" Horace shouted.

Jacob let out a confused "huh" before going red. He didn't even look in a mirror yet and completely forgot about his black eye and split lip.

Miss Peregrine snapped her head towards the living room and not even a second later, everyone started to hear the Bird's wrath. Millard and Emma got punished with four weeks of no modern classes while Jacob got the short end of the stick because he took them to the party. He basically got grounded from going on any "adventures" and it's allowed to leave the house without her for at least two weeks. He didn't mind because last night kinda was fun in a weird way. Beautifully tragic, but Millard, Emma, and Jacob were all pissed the Enoch wasn't blamed or associated with anything. They knew they had to get him back somehow.
