Chapter 1: The Scrapbook Bonanza

One unseasonably cold Saturday of May 2020, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at their apartment in Penn Hills while surprising the youngest newcomer, Breona with her very first slumber party. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. "What kind of slumber party would you like to have, Breona?" James asked. "I would like to throw a Scrapbook Bonanza, James," Breona replied. "After all, I did mention about group photos in our pajama sets, didn't I?" "Besides group photos, I also think that we should make a secret handshake and watch a movie marathon full of scary movies before we go to bed early," Henri stated. "Wait a minute, Henri," Sarah stated. "This is Breona's slumber party, remember?" "Oh, right," Breona stated. "I forgot." The invitations were made out of envelopes. First, we guessed whose baby picture was whose. Then, we ate a "cheesy" dinner, which was Goldfish crackers with grilled cheese sandwiches and macaroni and cheese, and for dessert, confetti cookies and a photo cake. The table was decorated with paper punch confetti. Then, we stocked up on supplies to make our own mini scrapbooks. Sarah was making a scrapbook page of her mother and stepfather's wedding back in the fall of 2002. "Those are very nice wedding pictures, Sarah," Breona remarked. "Your mother looked so beautiful at the time!" "Thank you, Breona," Sarah replied. "I am also going to make a scrapbook page of my high school honors banquet with James." "Check it out," I stated. "James is making a scrapbook page of the wedding, as well." "Going back to your banquet, what kinds of food did you eat?" Breona asked. "Did you eat any kinds of food like we had tonight?" "We just ate spaghetti and salad, and cheese was actually optional on our meals," Sarah explained. "Typically, cheeses like mozzarella and Parmesan are served with spaghetti and salad." We also made scrap bookmarks to go with our scrapbooks. Then, we played Table Talkers. We found out that James would go to the Caribbean if he could travel anywhere in the world, Henri would choose "Oddball" if he could choose a nickname for himself, Sarah would save up some money for her friends and family while paying for rent and groceries before splurging on herself if she won a million dollars, and the best present I ever got was a Mac computer. Then, it was Studio Time, where we took instant pictures with props, like silly hats and sunglasses. Finally, we presented a Rotating Page, in which the selfie was used, and used it to decorate and write nice things about each other. "This should be something we can present to the company this week," James stated. Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to go to bed. "Thanks for a great evening, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
