Author's Note: This is a gift to a fanfiction author called Palomino333. She is probably my closes friend online and the reason I got into writing fanfiction. She wrote a Transformers fanfiction called "The Choices we Make" and after I read it, I commented and we became friends. She has long since deleted the fanfiction, this is a thank you for the friendship and the inspiration.

I have no idea how frequent updates will be, but I will do my best. I hope anyone who reads this enjoys this fanfiction.

StarscreamxAlexis 4-life.

Starscream slammed his fist against the wall, causing Swindle and the Starsaber mini-cons to jump. Starscream looked and saw they were on edge.

"Sorry," he said. After taking a calming breath, he went down the hall with the four mini-cons.

Maybe joining the Autobots was a mistake, they didn't have the killer instinct to bring Megatron down. They were too passive and believed they could make peace with the Decepticons. It was foolish, with Megatron in charge, this would never happen.

If he didn't need help, he'd never have joined them in the first place, but he knew that by himself it would be suicidal. Still, it was frustrating working with mechs that always had hidden animosity every time they spoke to you. At least with Decepticons they told you how they felt. Though he would not respect them if they just started trusting him. He spent years as one of Megatron's elite and they would be fools to let their guard down.

He stood in front of the room where he regularly did his training. When the door opened, he pressed the button to turn on the light. Suddenly, there was a small bang. He looked down and saw the children of earth with the three mini-cons that hung around them. They were smiling and held something in their hands that made a popping sound.

"Surprise!" they all said with a smile on their faces.

"What's going on?"

"Thanks a lot for the present Starscream!"

"I don't think I follow." What were they going on about?

"Thanks a lot for the present you brought back from Mars." said the boy with the blue shirt.

"Yeah, we never really got the chance to thank you big guy," said the kid that hung around the blue shirt boy like glue.

Now he remembered what they were talking about. Before he and Jetfire left for Mars, the children asked if they could bring back a present. When Starscream crash landed he found a beautiful looking rock. He brought it with him and left it on the ground with the children when he got back. It wasn't a big deal in his mind. If it was out of his way, he wouldn't have done it.

"We made this for you." That was the one human he did know the name of, Alexis. She was a strange one, going out of her way to talk to him no matter how rude Starscream was to her.

She had a strange material in her hand. Starscream bent down and gently took it from her. It felt soft.

"So, what is it?"

Alexis smiled at him. "A handmade polishing chamois. Use it to polish anything, even Runway for example."

Starscream looked down at Runway, who made noises of approval.

"Yeah, right."

"Even us guys helped sow it together."

"Yeah, and we even have the needle pricks to prove it."

"So, when are you going to cut the cake?" said the chubby looking human. He could only assume that cake was some kind of human food.

He just stared at the "chamois".

"Oh, don't you like it?" Alexis looked sad.

"Ah, no, no. I wouldn't say that." Starscream said quickly. If he upset the humans, the Autobots would bring it up. It'd be too troublesome. "I mean it's very… colourful. It's just that I've never had anyone give me a present before."

"You can't be serious. What about on your birthday, you never got nothing?"

Starscream was a little taken aback by that comment. Were they referring to the day of his creation? Why would he celebrate that?

"So, what does one… do in a situation like this?" Honestly, this whole thing was strange to him.

He heard Alexis giggling. "How about you start by saying thank you?"

Starscream raised his optic. "Thank you… Thank you, right?"

A big smile appeared on the females face. "Yeah."

"So, give the scoop on what it was like on Mars dude."

"Yeah we want to hear all about it."

The children approached him.

"Does anything grow up there that you can eat without croaking on the spot?"

"Hey are there any aliens living up on the red planet?"

Starscream wasn't sure what to do. He supposed answering their questions wouldn't do any harm. He knelt down so he was closer to their level.

"Well kids-"

"Hey Starscream, how about sharing some of the work around here, like going on surveillance duty up in the control room."

Starscream turned around and gave Jetfire a dirty look, but he was already leaving.

"I'll never get use to the Autobots work ethic." he mumbled.

"Well I guess you better get going?" said the kid in yellow. The children looked a bit sad.

"Don't worry. If I don't do it, someone else will take care of it. No big deal." He rather spend his time with the children then follow the Rocket's orders. Though he'd never tell them that.

"You cannot be serious Starscream."

Starscream's eye's focused on the one female human.

"I mean slacking off like that, it's not the way Autobots work." Starscream's grip tightened on the chamois. "Don't you get it, there a team and without teamwork nothing will get done around here."

Great, now the humans were lecturing him as well. He wasn't going to take this from them. He stood up.

"Hey where are you going?"

"To get a little peace and quiet." Starscream left the room.

"Starscream!"

Starscream stopped. He turned his head to see Alexis. She was riding her mini-con, had she been following him this whole time?

"What do you want?"

Alexis got off the mini-con, which transformed.

Alexis looked right up at Starscream and said, "I'm sorry If I offended you."

Starscream was taken aback. Being a Decepticon, he wasn't use to apologies. Why was she apologising anyway? She spoke her mind, even if it was short sighted.

"I know that you're not use to the way the Autobots do things and maybe you're not ready for the change of pace." Alexis looked right at him. "But you have to at least try to meet them halfway Starscream. How are they supposed to trust you if you don't give them a reason to?"

It seemed to Starscream that her apology was just another reason for her to lecture him again.

"If the Autobots are smart they won't trust me at all."

Alexis put her hands on her hips. "You see! That's what I'm talking about."

Starscream felt irritated now. "You're a child. You think after all the time of fighting that they will trust me if I do things there way? You know nothing about war."

He could tell that got to her, she was scowling. "I know more than you think! My father served in Vietnam!"

"And what's that?" Starscream asked. He couldn't wait to hear this.

"It's the only losing war this country has ever been a part of." Alexis eyes looked a bit sad. "He told me things that happened. I know how hard it is for you to see their side." She took a breath before continuing. "But Starscream, this war isn't about killing for the Autobots and it shouldn't be for you. This is about making sure the mini-cons aren't used as slaves."

Not that again, he'd heard enough about the mini-cons. Starscream turned his back to her. "I don't care about that."

"That's not true!" Alexis yelled. "I know what you said to the mini-con on mars and I know enough about mini-cons to know that if they didn't believe you, they wouldn't have trusted you."

Alexis waited for Starscream to do something. When he didn't even turn to face her, she continued. "The mini-cons that make up the Star Saber and Swindle know they can trust you. They wouldn't always follow you if they didn't… and I trust you."

Starscream turned his head to look at her. "Why?" he asked. He had to know why this girl kept trying with him.

Alexis smiled. "I've seen how you fight. You're not like the Decepticons, you fight with honour. You'd rather be destroyed then take the cheap way out." Alexis rubbed the back of her head, hoping the next thing she said didn't get him mad. "I said this to you before, but I think you were always meant to be part of the Autobots."

Alexis waited for Starscream to do something. Anything.

"Is your father alive?"

Alexis blinked. Was he taking an interest in her? "Yes."

"Good." Starscream began walking away. Alexis wasn't sure, but she thinks that this conversation might have had a positive effect on him.

Starscream didn't know what compelled him, but he was in the Control room. He wasn't looking at the monitor though, the alarm will tell him if somethings out there. He was staring at the gift the children gave him. The conversation with that girl was ringing through his mind.

She said she trusted him, that he fought with honour. He had always fought with a code, but he never thought of himself as honourable. More honourable then Megatron maybe but that wasn't exactly reaching.

Alexis was different, not just from the humans but anyone he's ever meet. She knew how to approach him. Maybe it is because of her father.

Besides the children, the only other ones that treated him with any sort of respect was Optimus and Scavenger. When they talked to him, He almost believe that the other Autobots would accept him. Starscream had convince himself that he didn't care if they accepted him or not, but he was starting to question that.

"All this teamwork talk is starting to make me go soft." he said out loud.

There was a beeping sound. Starscream looked at the monitor, there was a Decepticon signal close to the base. There was only one thing appearing on the monitor.

He decided to check it out. "Stay here." he said to the mini-cons.

"Transform."

Starscream landed in the forest near the base. This was definitely the place where the signal was coming from.

"Someone's watching." He got his hand ready to grab his wing sword at any minute.

"Surprise!" Someone came into vision right in front of him.

"Thrust!" This wasn't good. Thrust was a strong opponent and a brilliant fighter. And with his ability to disappear at will, Starscream was out matched.

"Thanks for coming Starscream. I was so worried you wouldn't remember our little signal I sent you on the Autobots monitor." If Thrust had a mouth, Starscream bet he would be smirking right now. "So, what's it like being a traitor?"

Starscream felt irritated. He swung at him but Thrust disappeared.

"You snivelling coward, show yourself and fight!" he yelled. Thrust may have the upper hand but he wasn't going to run.

"Please forgive my rudeness I don't know what came over me." Starscream saw Thrust appear in the trees. Starscream jumped to attack. "I must confess I to have become rather disheartened by Megatron." Before Starscream could hit him, he was out of sight.

"I've had enough of your games!" Thrust was just making a fool of him.

Thrust appeared right in front of Starscream. "I agree with you that Megatron has failed to prove himself as a leader."

"What is he saying?" Starscream thought.

"So, join with me and together we will be able to bring Megatron down."

"No deal Thrust!" Starscream lifted his sword ready to strike. He was sure he could hit from this distance.

"You're a fool if you think you can destroy him with the help of those Autoboobs."

Starscream stopped. He put his sword down to his side.

"You have five minutes to talk."

Starscream saw the look change in Thrust's eye's. "Here's a question, have you ever thought of returning to your comrades?"

"What, back to the Luna base?" Thrust would know that it'd be suicide for him to return there. What was he up to?

"Yes and may I suggest that your chances of overthrowing Megatron are greater from within."

Starscream thought about what he said. He could potentially be right, but his plan made no sense.

"No way. Only a fool with a death wish would return to stand before Megatron. And trust me Thrust, I for one am not a fool."

Starscream noticed Thrust staring to disappear. He tried to strike him, but he was too late.

"Here's a simple solution. Bring Megatron some worthless Autobot Trophy and I assure you all will be forgiven."

"Trophy you say?" Starscream questioned.

Thrust was once again in front of him. "Yes, something like, oh I don't know, the Skyboom Shield perhaps. It's just a thought."

The Skyboom Shield was far from some "Worthless trophy". He needs to know what Thrust was up to.

"I know you Thrust. If your intention is to bring Megatron down and your approaching me to steal the Skyboom shield, they must fit together."

Thrust started to laugh. "I knew there was a reason I liked you." He leaned his face close to Starscream's. "Now listen closely. Have you ever thought what would happen if the power of the blaster the sword and the shield were harnessed together?" Starscream's optics widened. Back when he and Jetfire were in space, all three weapons were close together and something strange happened. Something powerful. "It would certainly give you the power to bring Megatron down."

Thrust vanished. "Take your time Starscream." He heard his voice chuckling away until the sound was gone.

Starscream clenched his fist. He needs to get back to the base and think. He transformed and took off.

The mini-cons of the Skyboom Shield were beeping away. They looked happy. Certainly, happier then when they were on the Luna Base.

"Hey Starscream, what's wrong?"

Starscream turned his head to see Blurr. "Nothings wrong." he replied. Starscream walked off, calming he had duties to do.

Starscream's mind was a complete mess, his first thought was not to trust Thrust. There was no reason for him to betray Megatron, Thrust loved power but he had no aspiration for leadership. But why was he coming to Starscream at all? Why did he want both the Skyboom Shield and the Star Saber? All three weapons together would be powerful enough to win the war and take care of Megatron. So, did he plan on destroying Megatron after all? Why else would he come to Starscream for help?

Starscream went into an empty room and started practicing his sword skills. This might be his best chance to stop Megatron. Working with Thrust he would be able to take action. With the Autobots he would always be held back by their rules.

"I know what you said to the mini-con on mars and I know enough about mini-cons to know that if they didn't believe you, they wouldn't have trusted you."

That girl, Alexis, now her words rang through his head. Could he bring himself to forcing the Mini-cons back to Megatron? He had said before that all he cared about was bringing Megatron down, but Optimus, the humans, Alexis, they made him question himself.

"Why now? Why am I doubting myself?" He said allowed. The image of the kids surprising him earlier came to his head. He let out a yell in frustration.

He put his wing sword back in place and walked out of the room.

Starscream found himself in the room where the ship was being built. He didn't know what compelled him, but he picked up a tool and got to work.

Hot Shot was stunned when he walked in on Starscream working on the ship. Since when had Starscream ever attempted to help? Had Optimus Prime ordered him to do it?

"I think the first step we should take with Starscream is try to understand our differences. And then we should attempt to come to some mutual agreement on how best to work together."

If Optimus really meant that he wouldn't have forced him to do this.

"Do you mind a little help?" Hot Shot asked, approaching him.

Starscream turned his head to see who is was but went right back to work.

"I can't force you to leave so do what you want."

Hot Shot grumbled. He was still as anti-social as ever. Hot Shot went over to a part of the ship that needed working on. They worked in silences for about half an hour before Hot Shot decided to speak.

"Starscream, you know that we want the same thing, right?"

Starscream stopped working. "My goal is to bring Megatron down, your goal is to protect the mini-cons. They're hardly the same thing."

Hot Shot looked right at Starscream. "Our goal is to stop Megatron from enslaving the mini-cons. We may not want to slaughter our enemies but we both want to stop him."

"If you think you can stop Megatron with anything other than force, you are a fool!" Starscream yelled. "That's the only language they understand!"

"And what about you?!" Hot Shot countered. "You may say you want to kill Megatron, but I know you would only be satisfied if you beat him in a fair fight. Are you saying you're the exception that proves the rule?"

Starscream felt irritated and the worst part was, he had no idea what to say to that. Hot Shot walked over until he was standing in front of Starscream. It was now or never.

"Starscream, we need to be able to find some mutual ground if we're going to work together. We can't act aggressively towards each other. So, I'm asking you to meet me halfway." Hot Shot extended his hand.

Starscream stared at his hand for a while. Those were the same words the girl said to him earlier. "I'll think about it." Starscream went back to doing work on the ship.

Hot Shot smiled. "Well it's a start."

Starscream and Hot Shot walked into the Control room. Blurr, Smokescreen, Sideswipe were inside with two of the humans. They seemed to be concerned about something.

"What's going on?" Hot Shot asked.

Smokescreen turned to see them.

"Hot Shot, have you seen the Skyboom mini-cons around?" Hot Shot shook his head. "This isn't good. We can't find them anywhere."

"What?" Starscream thought. Had Thrust found another way to get the mini-cons.

"That reminds me Starscream?" The mechs looked down at the fat kid and his friend. "Didn't that cone headed guy ask you to bring the Skyboom Shield to the moon base?"

"The children were there?"

Suddenly, everyone's eyes were on Starscream, their eye's already accusing him.

"Don't tell me you're about to double crossing us?" Jetfire said, staring right at Starscream.

"Did you hand over those three mini-cons to them Starscream?" Smokescreen looked ready to fight.

Starscream was about to tell them what they can do with their accusations when Hot Shot spoke up.

"He can't have done it guys. The two of us have been working on the ship for the past hour."

"That doesn't mean he didn't do it before bro." Sideswipe said, his arms folded. "You've said it before, he's a Decepticon."

"We have no idea what he was doing before you worked with him." Jetfire added. "For all we know this was a big infiltration mission the whole time."

"That's enough." Hot Shot yelled. Starscream put his hand on the yellow Transformers shoulder.

"They've already convicted me. But thanks for trying Hot Shot."

Hot Shot turned to face Starscream. "That is not true."

Starscream sighed. "Let's face facts, I am much different then you. I was programmed as a Decepticon and I don't apologise for that. I've tried my best to understand the way you and the others think, but I must admit it was a failed experiment."

"All you need to do is tell the truth!"

"None of you guys would believe the truth if I told it to you!"

"What's all this ruckus."

Starscream looked and saw Optimus stepping in. This wasn't going in a good direction for him.

"The three Skyboom Shield Mini-cons are missing sir." Smokescreen was quick to say.

"The kids told us that they saw Thrust outside our base and he was insisting that Starscream deliver the Skyboom Shield to their Luna base." Optimus turned to Starscream at Sideswipes words.

"He didn't do it!" Hot Shot stepped in front of Starscream. "He's been working on the ship with me, he never had the chance."

Starscream looked in Optimus's optics. Before he could pass judgement, the alarm went off. Everyone looked at the monitor and saw the Decepticons approaching the base. All that is except for Megatron.

"Everyone, let's roll out."

Everyone made their way to the exit. Starscream went into his quarters to get the Star Saber mini-cons. They knew what was going on and were ready when he arrived. Before he left, he noticed the gift the children gave him earlier.

"how about you start by saying thank you?"

Starscream grabbed the chamois and headed to the battle.

Starscream flew high into the sky, above all the other mechs. He knew Thrust would be up there waiting for him.

"Thrust, show yourself!"

Thrust appeared in front of Starscream. "Have you made your decision?"

"I have Thrust." Starscream smiled. "I'll think I'll stay here with bots I can trust." He got into a fighting stance.

Starscream noticed there was no change in Thrust's demeanour. "You disappoint me Starscream and you will live to regret your decision. I fully understand your desire for revenge against Megatron."

"You don't understand anything about me Thrust. I'll get my revenge because I have the tools to get the job done. So out of my way, or I'll slice you in half, you pathetic snake." Starscream wasn't a fool. He wasn't going to let himself be used again.

Thrust floated closer to him. "Name your price Starscream. Join forces with me and together we can take down Megatron. I too am a warrior on a mission. I aspire to lead the Decepticons to victory. Yet one optical stands in my way, a thorn if you will and I intend to pluck it."

That caught Starscream's attention. Thrust had never talked of being a leader, but the way he spoke was convincing.

"Why are you resisting my offer? You know there's strength in numbers Starscream. And tell me, do the Autobots have the tactical mind or the ruthlessness for you to achieve your goal that I offer?"

Starscream lowered the Star Saber. He didn't trust Thrust as far as he could throw him but what he was saying made a lot of sense.

"So, shall we unite and take down Megatron together? I need you Starscream."

Thrust was getting into Starscream head now and Thrust knew it. All he need was to push him a little further.

"Look down at your so-called allies Starscream. They fight, but not to win. So that both sides can live to fight another day. You can never get what you want with them. Trust me Starscream and you will get what you desire."

Starscream looked down at the battle. The Autobots were all trying to take down Tilde Wave, but they weren't aiming to kill. All the Autobots were doing was holding him off. Starscream looked and saw Hot Shot bringing the Skyboom Shield to Smokescreen. So, Thrust didn't have them after all.

"It seems your friends found what they're looking for."

"I've had enough of you!" Starscream lifted his sword, ready to strike.

"Why are you angry at me?" Starscream pulled back his sword before hitting Thrust at his words.

"I've got him."

"We both want Megatron destroyed. But why do you insist on working against me?"

"That's enough, Stop yammering!"

Starscream swung at him but Thrust showed no sign of moving. He stopped the blade just before hitting him. Starscream didn't understand. Why couldn't he take him down? Why couldn't he get his words out of his head? Could he really betray a side again?

The children were appearing in his head again.

He didn't want to betray them but everything Trust was saying was true.

"The decision is yours. You can either become soft and forget your glorious heritage. Or you can join me, and if you chose the ladder it is only a matter of time before we drink from the cup of victory."

Starscream looked up at Thrust.

"Your childish blathering annoys me Starscream. You are a Decepticon, now act like one!"

Those words Struck Starscream right in his spark. Starscream swang his fist at Thrust's face, knocking him back. He looked down at the battle. He saw Smokescreen about to toss the Skyboom Shield to Optmus. Starscream dove down. Just before it reached the leader of the Autobots, Starscream grabbed it.

Just as he grabbed the Shield, Starscream locked eyes with someone. The human girl, Alexis. That moment felt like it lasted an eternity. The look on her face was confused. Hurt. Why did this girl have this effect on him? He just made up his mind to go back to the Decepticon's and already he was questioning his decision.

What was he doing? There was no way he could trust Thrust. Even on the off chance he was telling the truth and he got what he wanted, where would Starscream fit into Thrust's plan then? He knew he could trust the Autobots. If he betrayed the only people left that he could rely on, then he really was a fool.

No, it was more than that. He didn't want to betray them. During his time with the Autobots he had grown to respect Optimus as a leader, in the way he treated his men. Hot Shot and Jetfire may not trust him yet, but they tried. And the humans, especially this girl, believed in him since the beginning.

Starscream redirected himself and flew right at Tilde Wave. With one swing of the Star Saber Sword, he sliced through the blasters on his chest. He then knocked him over with the Skyboom Shield.

Starscream looked up at the Sky and saw a stunned Thrust. Starscream smiled, finally he got one on that cone heads ego. He flew up aiming to strike, but he was gone before he could reach him.

"You made the wrong decision." Starscream stiffened. Thrust was right behind him. Before he could do anything, Thrust fired right at Starscream's wings. The force made Starscream let go of the Skyboom Shield and he began to fall through the air.

Thrust grabbed the shield and said, "Let's return to base!"

"Oh no you don't." Starscream thought. He used all his power to keep himself in mid-air. Starscream then threw the Star Saber at Thrust. It smacked right into Thrust arm, the surprise making him let go of the Shield. Both weapons fell through the sky to the ground. Starscream dove down and caught them, but used the last of his energy to do so. Starscream fell until he crashed into the ground.

When Starscream opened his eyes, he saw Thrust diving down to attack.

"It looks like this is it." Starscream looked down at the chamois in his hand. It had blast marks through it.

Before Thrust could fire at him, Someone blasted him. Starscream lifted his head and saw Optimus Prime standing above him. Soon, all the Autobots were surrounding Starscream.

Thrust transformed into his robot form. "You'll live to regret this Starscream. I swear it." He and the rest of the Deception's disappeared.

Starscream started laughing, it started off small but grew louder. His stupidity almost got him killed once again, but he had by some miracle survived. It was just too funny. He could feel Energon pooling on the ground behind him.

Stopping himself he looked at the leader, "Sorry Optimus, I really screwed up."

The leader of the Autobots looked down at him. If Starscream didn't know any better, he would think he looked concerned.

"Starscream?"

He turned his head and saw three of the humans staring at him. Alexis was standing only inches away from his face. The look of hurt wasn't there anymore. It was replaced by a look of sadness and fear.

"I'm sorry Alexis... I ruined your present."

"Starscream!"

That was the last thing he heard before he shut down.

Author's Note: It was a lot of fun writing this. Thank you for reading.
