Angel: Sorry it took me so long to update this, I...really drew a blank on what to do next ^^' But then I remember that I got this request, so I figured to get it out of the way. Again, I had writer's block, not to mention family drama going on at the same time. Let's just say that it had gotten to the point where I had to leave where I was staying immediately.

I think it's now officially time to take requests for this again. I have a faulty memory, but I'm pretty sure I have like less than 10 now that I could do.

Summary: Harmony tries to get Varian to give up the moonstone. A sequel to the Moon Varian storyline, and the last part of it.

It's a silent walk out of the Dark Kingdom for the others as Varian had escaped with the moonstone, leaving Harmony heartbroken and confused. She really thought things between them were okay, but now he had just backstabbed her by taking the moonstone for himself, something that she was supposed to do. She was supposed to grab it herself to fulfill her destiny, and he just took it away from her...

They should have been past this. He already betrayed her once before, but now he felt like he needed to do it again without talking it out with her. If he had, then she would've told him not to do this again...

"Brownie?"

She glances over her shoulder at Eugene, Rapunzel, and Cass standing on the cliff. The brunette was still sitting on a lone black rock, as Varian cut off any way for them to follow him. She sniffles, wiping her nose with her sleeve.

"Are you okay?" Rapunzel asks in concern as the girl stands up.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Harmony wonders as she jumps off the rock, surprising the three.

"Well...your boyfriend just took the moonstone, which was something you were supposed to do," Cass responds slowly. "Doesn't that bother you that he betrayed you?"

"Which must've been really...bad for you," Eugene replies softly and she shakes her head.

"What? No!" She waves it off in denial. "I'm fine! Who's Varian? I don't know anyone by that name."

They glance to each other in worry at her behavior. Daisy frowns a bit from Cass' shoulder. This wasn't like her at all, she was usually more rational when it came to situations like this. Examples of that were when they turned into birds, got cursed, or when Rapunzel tried to get Monty to like her. But now, it was like she was denying the reality that Varian did this to her a second time, something she didn't expect.

"You know, denying it doesn't make it go away," Rapunzel places her hand on her sister's shoulder. "I know that it hurts and you don't want to face it, but your feelings in this are important. I'm sure that he didn't mean to do that to you, but you can talk it out with us."

"Yeah," Eugene agrees with her. "We're here for you on this."

"What is there to talk about? The moonstone's in the hands of someone that I want nothing to do with anymore," Harmony smiles sweetly. "And I'll never forgive him, so why bother?"

Daisy chirps a bit in concern, and then she walks off.

Then they got a ride from Ulf back to Corona, where Andrew had taken it over with his Saporian army, along with erasing the queen and king's memories. Varian's absence was still evident by the time the two sisters saved everyone. But Harmony did manage to free Quirin with the decay incantation, and she had to be the unfortunate person to tell him the bad news...

Because of the state of the two monarchs of the royal family, Rapunzel and Harmony had to take their place within ruling Corona. The whole time this was announced, the brunette was really nervous, and several people could tell she was still thinking about Varian. However, she never said out loud her feelings about it, and even continued denying his existence or what happened.

Rapunzel knocks on Harmony's door. "Come in," She hears and looks to Eugene and Cass before opening the door. They find Harmony looking at a page in her journal. Rapunzel steps forward, sitting next to her sister. She looks over her shoulder, frowning to see a drawing of Varian's decision to take the moonstone...

"Harmi, can we talk?" Rapunzel places a hand on her shoulder.

"I guess," She closes the journal slowly.

"Look, we know that it's hard to accept, but Varian's made his choice," Cass speaks up first. "And I'm not sure if he knows what he's doing, but...ignoring it won't make it go away."

"I just can't believe he did this..." Harmony murmurs sadly, surprising all of them as she's not denying it this time. "And why would he do something like this without telling me?" She looks towards the journal, caressing it gently.

"Well...think of when I didn't let Rapunzel into the castle because I wanted to protect her. Varian might be doing this for the same reasons with you," Eugene offers her. "He might not want you to get hurt, and he's still hurting from his father."

"If he hadn't taken it, then he would've been reunited with him anyway! We had the decay incantation," Harmony frowns deeply.

"But his father isn't as...open as other people," Rapunzel adds in. "Varian's probably been trying to impress him for a long time, and just didn't get that recognition. I'm sure that he didn't mean to hurt you, and that he still loves you. He just didn't want you to get involved and go through any more pain...not the right way to do it, if you ask me."

"Yeah..." Harmony sniffles a bit, wiping away tears with her sleeve. "Thanks, guys."

"You gonna be okay?" Cass asks her gently.

"I don't really know..." The girl murmurs with a conflicted look. "Because eventually, we'll see him again, and he might not be willing to compromise."

The three fell silent, as they knew that this wasn't the last of Varian. He might attack them, and they might have to fight back against him sometime soon.

Weeks had passed, and there had been no sign of Varian. And his absence was felt by everyone, especially by Harmony and Quirin. The temporary crown princess was still reeling from it, though she could understand where Varian was coming from. But at the same time, she was still upset that he didn't consult her. It was only hitting her just now that Varian made the choice to take the moonstone without confiding in anyone.

Then again, if she had taken the moonstone, she'd be just like him right now. That was probably the one good thing that came out of this. But his heart had grown bitter towards the amber, clouding his mind to the point where he probably thought he couldn't rely on anyone. He probably wasn't comfortable confiding in her...

After the treasure hunt for Herz Der Sonne's treasure, she wanted to be alone. Harmony sat on her bed, flipping through pages of her journal. She stopped on the one where she and Varian were laying down on the grass. That was after she had used the decay incantation and Cass got her hand hurt...she could still remember the conversation she had with him that night...

"Harmi?"

She closes the book as she looks up at her older sister standing in the doorway. "Are you doing alright?" She steps forward, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Just...reliving old memories," Harmony smiles weakly at her journal and Rapunzel immediately gives a look of understanding.

"We'll bring him back," Rapunzel places a hand on her shoulder. "I promise."

"I know. Thanks."

Daisy snuggles her cheek, causing her to smile.

That time would come sooner than later, because while everyone was doing the treasure hunt, Varian had returned to Old Corona during the night...

He sits in the forest nearby his home, not wanting to see his father encased in the amber again. Ruddiger lays on his lap as he eyes the moonstone in his armor. The raccoon chitters a bit at him and he lets out a sigh.

"I know Mona was supposed to have it, but I'm doing this for her," He mutters knowingly. "And my father is still trapped inside," He closes his eyes, looking away. "It's all my fault he's still in there. If I had just listened..."

Ruddiger looks up at him and he shakes his head rapidly, deciding to let it go. He puts out the fire in front of him and then lays down on the grass.

"Good night, buddy," He pats Ruddiger's head before closing his eyes.

The next morning, Harmony is in Varian's lab, as Quirin had beckoned her over after sending a letter to Rapunzel. She wasn't sure why she was asked to come here all of a sudden, but she could sense his reasoning.

"Has there been any new developments?" Quirin asks gently and she closes her eyes.

"No. The guards still haven't found him, and they haven't returned from today's search." Rapunzel sent out at least half the guards to go locate Varian, with the order to bring him in peacefully. "But we'll find him, Quirin."

"I don't know if you still have the ability to sense the moonstone, but I was hoping you'd at least try..." He glances to a picture of himself with Varian. "My son is very ambitious, but never did I think he'd do something like this."

"None of us did. The best thing we can do for him now is snap him out of it," Harmony tells him while looking around the lab. She pauses slightly, as she hasn't been here ever since his...attempted takeover of the kingdom. It brought back so many happy, but also chilling memories for her...she could still remember meeting him here for technically the second time. His arms around her waist when she fell...the look in his eyes when he saw her face...

"Are you alright, your highness?" Quirin's voice snaps her out of it. She clears her throat, blushing to herself as she looks away.

"I'm sorry, it's just...being in here for a longer period of time...it just has me think," She tells him quietly.

"If you wish to leave, I understand-"

"No, no, it's fine," Harmony waves a hand. "I have to move on from that, and if doing this to find him will help, then I need to do this..."

His eyes soften slightly, now feeling bad asking her to come here. "I...miss him as well."

They walk over to the remains of the amber, which still hasn't been cleaned up. Quirin didn't have the heart to do it himself, and it seems no one else did...it'd just be another reminder of Varian's absence. Quirin lightly touches the huge black rock in front of him, remembering when he told Varian not to mess with it...and then saving him...

"Well, well, well. If it isn't my little Mona."

She freezes at the sound of his voice, not having heard it for what felt like forever. She slowly turns around, her heart hammering as she stares right into Varian's eyes. He still looks the same, but he looks very different. He's still there, but he didn't feel like the same Varian. He couldn't see his father as he was still behind the black rock.

"Why are you doing this, Vari? We could have talked this out! We could have prevailed through the journey together..." Her eyes sadden as she stares at him and he takes a deep breath.

"You don't get it. I did it for my father. Because of my mistakes, he's trapped in there and I have to save him!"

He glances behind her and sees that Quirin is no longer trapped. He flinches at this. "Huh?!" He summons a black rock in front of her and she stumbles back in alarm. "Where's my father?! What'd you do to him?"

"Nothing! Don't you remember the decay incantation? I used it to free him. He's alive, Varian."

He flinches at that explanation, lowering his hand. He wants to believe her, but his own actions argued against that. He was the reason his father was there, and he attacked the royal family, including the girl that he loved. Everything he did, he did for his father and for Harmony...but left a trail of heartbreak in his wake.

"It's true, Varian."

Quirin comes out of hiding, Varian's eyes widening at him. "My son," He smiles softly at him.

"...Dad...you're alive...?"

"He is. And he's perfectly fine," Harmony speaks up softly. He looks towards the ground guiltily. "So you never needed to do any of this. I understand that you were upset over what happened, and that you felt like you couldn't tell anyone. But it's not too late to make things right, Vari." Harmony gestures to her heart. "We all missed you, and you can still do good things now...please, just give me the moonstone."

"But...but I hurt you, I hurt other people! What makes you think that anyone is going to forgive me now?" Varian gestures to himself with a hurt look in his eyes. "Why would anyone see me as a good person after all this?"

"Because we all know the truth. And sure, it'll take some getting used to by others, but it only matters how those close to you see you, Vari."

Varian frowns sadly as she approaches him, placing her hands on his shoulders. "You won't know unless you try. Please, just...take off the moonstone. This isn't the way to earn forgiveness."

He takes a deep breath and slowly takes off the moonstone. He holds it out to her and she's about to take it when a flash occurs, and it suddenly disappears.

"What happened?" Quirin looks over Harmony's shoulder, who looks concerned by that result.

"I don't know..."

Varian leans forward and hugs the girl. She smiles weakly and hugs him back. "Thank you, Mona."

Soon, Varian was forgiven by the royal family and all his friends. But it would still take a while for the people of Corona to get used to his presence again. Though, they still wondered why and how the moonstone disappeared. And they were sure that they would see it on someone else soon...

The moonstone lands in someone's hands, and she narrows her eyes at it. "It worked," Cass looks up at the ghost girl. "Your spell played out just like you said it would."

"And now that you have what rightfully belongs to you..."

"I can finally turn my back on Rapunzel and Harmony. They're the reason my mother abandoned me," Cass glares, putting on the moonstone and transforming...
