Chapter 1

It was late at night when Gru, Lucy, and the girls came home. The moon was full, and the stars flickered like little twinkling lights that guided them home. Margo and Edith hopped out of the car, walking ahead as while Gru scooped Agnes out, who was fast asleep in her seat.

"That was... an interesting evening," Lucy giggled as she got the keys out of her purse.

"Yeah, who knew Shannon would find a man who propose to her." Gru chuckled at the memory of his date with Shannon before he and Lucy started dating.

Margo laughed, and Edith rolled her eyes and blew a raspberry as Lucy ushered them all along inside. Despite what he said, it was a good night, and Margo was especially happy. No, not because of some boy, but she got a chance to wear the white dress she wore at Gru and Lucy's wedding, with a minor adjustment. Margo had taken up on sewing, and to put her skills to the test, she made the dress' skirt part a little bigger, which let it have more of a flow when she walked. Agnes fell in love with it too, and had begged her to fix some of her dresses like that too, which Margo was more then happy to do.

It really was a great party, she thought, I needed an excuse to wear the dress again, I'm so glad I did.

Margo followed Gru upstairs, and while he went to get some pajamas for her to change into, Agnes was placed next to Margo on her bed, her head resting on the puffy part of her skirt. She was a bit more awake now, and Margo watched as she opened her eyes slowly, and feeling the sheet of fabric by her head. "It's so soft..." she whispered, her eyes closing again. "So... soft..."

"How soft?" Margo asked. "Like a cloud?"

"Yeah... a cloud of pink cotton candy..."

"Okay Agnes, time to get into your PJs." Gru passed a pink unicorn onesie while picking up a toy he nearly stepped on.

Agnes got up slowly, before begging Margo to promise her to add a skirt layer to her onesie- pink, of course. Gru stepped out of the room and let Margo help her get dressed, and once she was ready, Lucy was going to help her brush her teeth. After she leaves, Margo just chuckles at how adorable Agnes is; the innocence she had for anything and everything complex was admirable, and Margo wished she could've held onto that when she was small. But with Agnes and Edith to look after in the children's home, she had to grow up a little bit...

Her thoughts were interrupted by her reflection in the mirror; the dress now had a thick bell shape, and she wasn't sure what it was, but it made the dress more beautiful...

The moonlight gleamed through the window, and casted some light on a forest; not too far away from the house, but she was never brave enough to venture into it, Its been there longer then she and the girls had been living with Gru, and she had grown every intention of exploring it, but never found the right time to go, not wanting to worry Gru and Lucy if she just vanished. The last thing she wanted was the police having to be called...

"Margo!" Lucy's interrupted this thought bubble. "We have to go back to Shannon's house; Agnes left her unicorn there, and Edith left her hat behind. Will you be okay while we go?"

Margo turned to the door briefly. "Sure!" With a racing heart, she ran for the window to see the family drive off in the Grumobile, and a smile stretched across her face.

Now was her chance to explore the forest. They wont be back for some time.

...

Going for a walk. Fed Kyle his dinner.

A few moments later, a note sat on her bed, and glancing back at the mirror, she readjusted the puffs on her shoulders, and fluffing up the skirt part as she looked down to make sure it was to her liking. She didn't want to change just yet. She liked the flowing feeling it granted, why not wear it to the forest? But she would collect her normal clothes in a bag, just in case.

She rushed down the stairs, and into the kitchen, the clattering of Kyle's food bowl touching the ground, and the hail of his kibble food bouncing off the inside of the bowl echoed through the silent house. Kyle, as usual, made a run for the bowl, savoring every mouthful, as she made a run for the front door, spare key in hand.

She won't be gone for too long.
