Ian Peek really has done it. He got the story on the Batman's true identity: Terry McGinnis. Also, his mentor and handler who is none other than the elderly Bruce Wayne was the original Batman. To Peek, this is going to be the great story of the century.

Things would be easier for him to use the belt, which gave him the power of intangibility, if it weren't for the side effect from overusing it. His stomach pains, but at least he used antacids to deal with this. As he took a drink of water after his pills, he saw Terry coming in his office.

"I was half-expecting you," Peek grinned. "Come on in... Terry."

"You know the secret, but do you really know who I am?" Terry demanded.

"What's to know? Terry McGinnis... high school student, bit of a delinquent, and son of the late Warren McGinnis," Peek began. "Your father was murdered by Paxton Powers' late daddy for finding out about the nerve gas, so you became Batman to avenge his death. Eventually, you got your revenge when he died at that submarine a long time."

Wow, he is good.

"You got your revenge, so why bother continuing your crusade against crime as Batman? You could have a normal life like what all teenagers have," he asked with curiosity.

"Because I chose it to be. I can't just stand by and let other people endanger my family and friends," Terry spoke of his will.

"Even risking your life for strangers?" Peek raised an eyebrow, and Terry is silent on the question but the former knew what his answer is gonna be. "Oh well, suit yourself. It's nice knowing you."

The two paused as they stared at each other for a second.

"Once I saw that the old guy was Bruce Wayne, it wasn't hard to figure out who you were," Peek continued. "He was the original Batman, wasn't he? Wasn't he?"

"I don't care what you do to me, but he doesn't deserve this," Terry approaches the reporter, even taking his mask off. "He's done too much for this city to wind up in the middle of a media circus."

"He means a lot to you, doesn't he?"

"Yeah, he does."

"I believe you. I really do. That's the trouble with this business. You meet so many liars you forget what sincerity sounds like," Peek considered not exposing the big secret, but he quickly changes his mind with a camera on his hand. "Want to say it all again while I've got the camera running?"

So much for second thoughts.

Giving up, Terry puts his mask back on and takes his leave from the office.

To Peek, it's nice knowing him.
