Yondu storms through the old ravager ship, his fists clenching at his sides. He could not believe the turn of events. Once everyone was back aboard he had sent Izzy with her two brothers to get checked out by the doctor. He then called for Taserface, Oblo and Dram to the command center. Those men know better than to speak so harshly with Izzy, and then to let her go off by herself was a major lack of disrespect for his commands. But he also knew how Izzy could be at times, especially now that she was a preteen. So, Yondu had found it in his hardened heart to be a little easy on the men. He had planned on just having a chat, but once Dram and Taserface opened their big mouths, Yondu had lost all control. The Ravager captain had shown no mercy when it came to beating the men. He did just enough damage to instill fear and enforce his authority as captain before ordering them to clean themselves up and report for cleanup duty. He had walked away with a turn of his overcoat and a resting glare on his features.

The older centaurin sighs heavily. Despite all that those men did wrong, he could not help but feel disappointment and even anger at his youngest. Izzy may be a terror and could take care of herself, Yondu had ensured that much, but still. The girl knew better than to fly off the handle and walk off like that, leaving the company of those assigned to her while on a planet. The brat knew how Yondu felt about the matter, especially when they were on Knowhere. And the very reason he felt the way he did was because of exactly what happened today. She had been taken, taken because of enemies HE had made, and almost taken away from them forever. What made it worse is that the girl had no regard for her own life, or how this decision could have affected the family if they had not found her in time. For that offense only, Yondu just could not let this slide away so easily. The older man sighs heavily, running a rough hand down his face. He had just finished the grueling task of dealing with his men but now he had the daunting task of handling the little devil he calls a daughter. Heaven help him in that task. He thinks bitterly as he continues to the medical ward.

It didn't take long for the almost irate man to come to the hall leading down to the medical bay. It also didn't take long for the older man's ears to tickle with the voices and shouts echoing off the walls. Yondu stops as he can make out the high pitched voice of Izzy fussing at the doctor. The deep voice of Peter and Kraglin, no doubt, correcting the young girl, telling her to suck it up. Yondu shakes his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. The older man had dealt with the preteen enough to know that she was in a foul mood already. This would make this lecture even more difficult because her mouth always got her in trouble when it came to speaking to her father. All respect and paternal fear gets thrown out the window once she gets started, leading to a very unpleasant trip over her father's knee. Yondu drops his hand, squaring his shoulders and sealing himself for the fight that was no doubt going to escalate into. He quietly opens the door to the ward, being careful not to draw too much attention to himself as he slipped through. He had much to say, but he wanted to hear what the little girl had to say for herself before he rounded on her with a loud voice.

Kraglin halfway glares down at his little sister. The girl had fussed and been belligerent every time the doctor got to work on a new spot. Kraglin would have to admit to himself that he was not pleased with his little sister at all. And he was finding it difficult to not show that annoyance and disappointment. It wasn't that he was mad at her for getting kidnapped, honestly no one could have seen that one coming. No, what he was mad about was her lack of concern over the matter. Kraglin had almost had a heart attack when Peter had told them that she was not with him or the men they had left her with. That sickening feeling only deepened as they went about their search with no real results. It was such a relief when they found her. Izzy was scared at first, clinging to the much older man, that was until they got to the ship. Then this little snot nose bratty attitude came out and it has been hell ever since. Kraglin sighs heavily, crossing his arms over his chest as Izzy contorts her face upwards. A sharp intake of air filters up from the young girl as Doc dabs at the wound that bloodied her hand.

"Ouch! Doc!" Izzy exclaims, trying to pull her hand away.

Doctor Felix lifts his eyes up to the preteen. He was a simple looking man in all respects with the fact that he was an alien. Minus the almost yellow skin, he would look just like Peter, but with whiskers like hair coming from his jaw line and pointed ears like Spock. Izzy glares at Felix as he keeps a firm grip on her wrist not allowing her to pull away like she would like. The doctor/healer looks at her in a way that would remind you of how a disappointed father peering over the tops of his glasses would look. Izzy tugs on her wrist, narrowing her eyes a little as he would not let go. Felix sighs heavily, eyeing her as he gives her a minute to deal with the pain that comes from cleaning the wound. Once that minute had ticked by, he brought the cloth back close to her. Izzy gasps, quickly curling her fingers over the wound to keep that dreaded thing away. Felix's face frowns deeper, the grip tightening even more around her wrist. He shakes her wrist, giving her the silent warning to uncurl her fingers. Izzy was determined to win this little fight, that was until someone flicked her on the back of the head. The preteen teen glared at Peter who jerks his chin upwards. Izzy sighs angrily, pouting up at Felix as she reluctantly uncurls her fingers.

"Ya better be happy Capt'n ain't doing it. He'd be none too gentle on ya either." Kraglin scoffs beside her.

"And she would be getting an earful while he had her pinned down." Peter adds..

Izzy huffs, "The scolding would be nothing new as he does it quite frequently. And Dad is never gentle when he patches people up. It's not like he babies me or anything."

"Oh no he babies you alot." Peter sasses, earning a glare from his little sister. "What were you thinking anyway?"

"What do you mean 'what was I thinking'? I didn't do anything wrong!" Izzy tries to defend herself.

"Anything wrong?" Kraglin asks in disbelief. "You know well how Capt'n feels about you walking around on your own."

Izzy scoffs, looking down at her hand as Doc starts to stitch it, "wouldn't have had to be walking around if you guys hadn't left me."

Yondu growls at her snippy tone. It looks like an attitude adjustment needs to be addressed as well. Kraglin may be her older brother, but he was just as much in charge of her as Yondu himself was. She had no right to talk to her brother that way, especially with the kind of trouble she is in at the moment. Yondu scoffs, unfolding his arms and walking up to the threesome. He moves silently so he can watch how the scene will play out. What came next did not shock him in the least. Both of his boys tense at her sharp, accusing tone. Kraglin unfolds his arms, twisting his face into a stern unhappy gaze. His eyes flick over to his younger brother, who crosses his arms, glaring at the back of Izzy's head. Kraglin squares his shoulders, straightening to his full height as he leans one hand on the bio-bed, the other resting on his hip. He comes extremely close to Izzy, much like they do when she is seconds away from getting her butt in trouble in a public area. Well, guess it was time to make his presence known, Yondu sighs heavily.

"Ya bett'r listen t'him girly. He is right." Yondu remarks, forcing all eyes on him.

Izzy snarls at the reprimand, "Again, I didn't do anything wrong. All I did was walk back to the ship." she snaps harshly.

Yondu twists his face into a stern, parental glare, "Lose the attitude little girl. I have told ya time 'n time again, not t'walk anywhere on y'r own. And what happened today is exactly why I say it. Did you even stop t'think about what could happen?"

"Oh yes because I wanted to purposefully get kidnapped, dad." Izzy huffs, turning away from her father with a scowl.

Yondu growls under his breath. The attitude was going to stop. He had not taken it from her on a good day, and he sure as hell was not going to take it from her just because she had been through the ringer today. Yondu reaches out, firmly gripping Izzy's jaw. Izzy keeps her head turned away from him. She starts to resist as he tries to turn her head to look at him. Yondu sighs as he puts a little more force into his grip, this time forcing Izzy to look at him squarely in the face. Yondu scans her face. Her eyes said a lot about what she was feeling. They held anger and frustration, but there was much hurt and sadness laced within the blue irises. Yondu swallows hard, as it is in that moment he was finding it hard to be that stern father figure. He couches slightly, narrowing his eyes into what he hopes is a warning look.

"I said t'lose the attitude." He warns. "Now, why did ya walk back t'the ship when I told ya not to."

"Dram was being an ass!" Izzy shouts, unable to take the questioning. She jerks head away, pushing Yondu's hand away from her. "He wouldn't stop messing with me and calling me names!"

Yondu narrows his eyes at his daughter, "That is not an excuse Isabella. Ya don't put yer life in danger just because someone hurt ya feelings. Ya man up and give it back."

"Oh yeah like that has done anything to help!" Izzy screams, swinging her arm wide, "They treat me like I'm some snot nose kid still!"

"Well when you pull a stunt like this you would be nothing but a little kid in their eyes. Throwing a tantrum and running away like that." Kraglin points out.

"I don't need your opinion on the matter, Kraglin." Izzy growls.

"You might not but you are gonna listen. And again lose the attitude. That is yer last warning. " Yondu threatens. He sighs heavily, massaging his forehead. "Look Izzy. I know the crew give ya a hard time because yer my kid, but. . . "

Izzy huffs out of her nose, watching as the doctor wraps her hand, "Giving me a hard time is putting it lightly. You guys have no idea how much they pick and jab and scoff at me."

There was a sharp inhale as everyone became quiet. Yondu lifted his eyes to his two boys, who shared a glance. The truth was, they had no idea how much Izzy endured because of who she was. Most thought she was treated like a queen, given everything and loved by all because she was one of the most famous Ravager captain's kid. But that was far from the truth. The three men allowed her to get away with things that other men would be beaten for just thinking about let alone attempt. Don't get her wrong, the men were overly protective of her and they did not let her get away with just anything, but there was much that slipped by them. Because of this, many of the men became annoyed with her presence and endlessly picked on her about being a little princess. A princess that required her daddy to fight all her battles. It would eat Izzy right up and whenever she would give it back, she was either in trouble with her father or it would just make the situation worse because she couldn't do the damage she wanted to. Either way, Izzy couldn't win and the teasing would never stop. Izzy turns her head away even more as her eyes start to tear up. Peter is the first to break the unsettling tension and approach his little sister.

"Izzy, why didn't you tell us what they were doing?" Peter asks cautiously, sitting on the edge of the bed behind the preteen.

Izzy twists her face upwards, "And be labeled as a tattle-tale on top of it? No thank you."

Peter adverts his eyes, sadness forming in them. The words Izzy spoke were bitter and said with much sadness and scorn. It was a sign that they had no idea just how bad the picking had gotten. Especially if Izzy was voicing it, the child had the habit of just dealing with whatever life threw at her quietly and with a fake smile on her face. She would never speak of it until it had ended and she had come out victorious. The fact that she was voicing her opinions on the matter now, showed that the picking had gotten to the point that she could no longer handle it. And it was wearing her down. Yondu sighs heavily, his shoulders slumping. Even though he would have preferred Izzy to come to him when things got out of control, he understood her not doing it as well. Nothing is more despised among a group of men than a tattle-tale. And if she had come and told all, then they really would have been merciless in their snide comments and physical abuse.

"I didn't leave to get back at anyone or anything like that." Izzy starts off in a low sad voice. She gently rests her bandaged hand in her other one, staring at it blankly. "I just couldn't take it anymore. You guys ditched me. And then you stuck me with two of the worst ones out of all the men that pick about my age and being part of this motley crew of a family we have. I was having a bad enough day knowing that you guys didn't want me around today and then to have them be mad at ME because they had to watch me didn't help." Izzy got quiet, tensing her shoulders slightly. She squirms, sighing heavily. "I ran off without thinking. I figured I would have ran into someone else before anything serious happened. I didn't think that finding myself in a bad situation would happen so quickly. I'm sorry dad."

Yondu sighed for the uptenth time that evening. He relaxed the muscles in his shoulders. "We didn't ditch ya Izzy. I had a meeting with someone I didn't want ya around. I took Kraglin as backup in case it went sideways. 'N Peter was handling another job that we needed t'be paid on 'n it was the same serino. We didn't want ya with us cuz we didn't want ya hurt. I know ya didn't plan on this happening Izzy. But it did 'n it scared t'living daylight out of me." Izzy's head snapped up at that comment. Her eyes held such surprise and remorse at hearing that she caused that much worry. "I was terrified and panicked when Peter told me that ya wern't where ya was suppos'd t'be 'n then we couldn't find ya. . . " Yondu trailed off.

"Dad I. . . "

Yondu held up his hand to stop her, "Ya were lucky we did find ya when we did. 'N I know the men 'r rough on ya but ya gonna have't stand up fer yerself. Show them that ya ain't the snot nose brat they think ya are."

"Yeah Izzy. If they keep on just give them a swift kick in the groin. That'll stop them from messin' with ya." Kraglin comments, a smirk pulling on the corners of his mouth.

"And you can always come get me. I'll be the hero and freeze them with my element blaster. Peter says, nudging her shoulder with his. "We are happy you're safe though Isabella."

Izzy looks between the three men. They each had different expressions on their faces, but one thing was evident, relief. Each of the men had relief littering their faces and eyes. They were truly happy that she was home and safe. They didn't ditch her just because they didn't want her around, and they had all panicked over the fact that she couldn't be found. And she had been the cause of all that worry, fright. Her heart twinges a little as the mess was all started because her feelings were being hurt and much like Kraglin said, she threw a tantrum like a three year old. Izzy lowers her head as tears prick the corner of her eyes.

"I. . . I. . .s-s-sorry." Izzy shutters out, unable to speak without her voice cracking.

Yondu places a heavy hand on the back of Izzy's head. No matter how upset he was with his youngest, his heart still broke at seeing her cry from remorse. He could not help but feel lenient when her voice broke and she dared not look at them for fear of breaking down even more. Yondu absentmindedly massages his fingers into her scalp as he continues to contemplate what he should do next. The truth was, he could not let this slide, but that did not mean that it had to be handled right this second when everyone was still a little on edge. He looks down at the shredded and uneven hair. The form shook and trembled slightly under his hand. Yondu pauses in his movements, tapping his knuckle under her chin. Izzy obediently raises her eyes to look up at him. Those blue eyes were darker from the redness that surrounded them. Yondu runs a gentle knuckle over her cheek, wiping away the wetness that tracked it. She lets out a shaky breath, her bottom lip wobbling dangerously. Yondu flashes her a toothy grin, not allowing her to get stuck in her own despairing thoughts.

"It's okay Izzy. We're just happy you are safe." He says cheerfully. Izzy smiles sadly, averting her eyes before focusing back squarely on him. She watches as his face frowns into a stern expression. "But this conversation is not over. We still need t'discuss why running away is a very bad idea."

Izzy could do nothing more than nod her head meekly. She knew deep down that Yondu would want to finish this conversation. She had screwed up big time in his book and he would not let it go without fully discussing it and making sure that this same scenario never happened again. Izzy raises her blue eyes as the older man stops his light massaging. Yondu removes his hand from the back of her head, sighing contently as he rested a hand on his hip.

"But that conversation can wait until later today. I think you need to go find Marseli so she can fix your hair." He says playfully, flicking a loose bang.

Izzy giggles lightly, jerking her head away from the assaulting hand. She nodes her head meekly while smiling softly. The young girl roughly dragged the back of her hand across her eyes and cheeks cleaning up the mess of her emotions. Her chest rises and falls with a deep inhale before jumping down from the table. Izzy makes her way over to the door, leaving the men to stand around the bio-bed. She pulls on the door, pausing in the way to look back at the three men. Each had smiles on their faces, looking at her with contented relief. Her shoulders sag as a contentment settles over her heart. She had put these men through a lot today, but yet they could still smile and tell her in their odd way that they loved her and wanted her around still. A tug pulls at the corner of her lips as a sharp whistle from Yondu adverts her eyes to him. He jerks his head for her to get going, clicking his tongue for emphasis. Izzy could not help but roll her eyes before slipping out the door. She would have to deal with her father's lecturing later on, but right now she was just happy that she wasn't taken from them and that was something to be thankful for.

The End!
