How's this for a sequel to "An Unforgettable Reunion"? Bet you all that you didn't see this one coming? I know that this is too soon for me, especially after"An Unforgettable Reunion", so please don't judge me. I never expected myself to bring myself to write this piece of works down, but here I am, doing so. Hope you love the beginning of a brand new story about Sonic, Tails and their friends.

Prologue.

Tristan "Murdoc" Rhoms was furious. His forest green eyes stared straight ahead as he struggled against an urge to smash something or someone. Preferably his boss. Or the small glass cup that he had took a drink out of just seconds ago. Murdoc was in a really rotten mood, and just him having a drink only added to the firery anger burning up inside of him. Despite being in heavy coats, scarves, and wool gloves, the two anthropomorphic animals seated at the table in front of him still shook in the cold room. But Murdoc was still furious with burning anger.

"What do you mean you have a job for me on Neola Island?" He stormed.

Murdoc knew he was on thin ice with his boss. Caden Andross commanded fear and respect from all members of the Gala Syndicate - of which the criminal organization was now known as The Regency-, and in his rage, Murdoc was dangerously close to going too far in questioning Andross' orders.

"I refuse to go to that lousy island, especially all the way up to Neopolis," he thundered.

The older anthropomorphic animal remained silent. Murdoc was still a follower of the Ancient ideals and beliefs of the Regency, which wanted nothing more than to bring Mobius under the reign of Lyric the Last Ancient. But he didn't like the assignment Andross was giving him, and he didn't like his superior or taking orders from him, either. Murdoc and Andross had worked out together on an assignment on Acadia Island; it had not gone well. First, they failed to kill their target, Acadia Island Prime Minister Jedidiah Prower. Then just seconds after that, Andross had pulled out a laser gun and in an attempt, shot down and about killed a little young fox kit. Then they were arrested after those events unfolded. The problems only increased the tensions between them, as each blamed the other for the failures that had eventually landed them in prison. But most of all, both Murdoc blamed the five anthropomorphic animals who called themselves Team Sonic, especially the two-tailed fox who was in fact, the youngest member of the team. He had actually outsmarted him -a well trained professional terrorist. He was determined that the young fox would pay for his year of misery in that stinking Acadia Island prison. From the moment a month ago when he was liberated by his Regency comrades while being transported to a maximum-security prison, Murdoc had only one goal: to find and kill Miles "Tails" Prower. Murdoc knew it had been dangerous even to go near the kid, what with warrants out for his arrest posted on every billboard and police station on every island within a hundred mile radius. So he had been careful as he stalked his prey. Careful and successful. He knew exactly where the two-tailed freak lived, no one had to tell him where he lived. Murdoc, who knew how to hunt for people himself, had listened carefully to all the gossip and stories in the town of Hedgehog Village. He discovered that his nemesis, Miles, had a cousin who had married last year, in fact, shortly after he was arrested. The freak's cousin had married the son of a well to-do merchant from Peoria Island, Murdoc's home island, his home island. And ever since then, the two-tailed fox freak had enjoyed having his cousin and her husband live with him and the rest of his teammates back on Bygone Island, but what made the freak even more easier for Murdoc to find was the fact that he was the best loyal sidekick of Sonic the Hedgehog; he had only just recently found out that he and the blue hedgehog were best friends, no, in fact, they treated each other more like brothers. Murdoc only told himself time and time again that the brotherly duo was going to be some day torn apart, and that was the day when he would kill the stinking two-tailed freak of a fox. And now - with his plan for revenge ready to be carried out - the Regency was ordering Murdoc to Neola Island, to some tourist attraction city on the other side of Bygone and Acadia Islands.

"This is craziness," Murdoc yelled, bringing his thoughts back to Andross. "Neopolis is nearly two thousand miles away from both Bygone and Acadia Islands. It could take days just to get across the sea. If a hurricane strikes, I could be stranded at an unknown island for weeks. No way. I'm not going. Not until I've taken care of that two-tailed stinking freak who put us both in prison."

Andross remained silent, and Murdoc felt his temper build up. A boat sped by on the vast waters of the sea, heading east towards Bygone Island and shaking the window in its wake. This tiny winter-like island of Olathe Island - a tourist attraction - was no better than Neopolis and Neola Island, and Murdoc was eager to return to Hedgehog Village and exact his revenge.

When Andross spoke, it was in a booming voice filled with sarcasm and authority.

"Refuse? You refuse to carry out an order of the Regency?" He drew out the c, making it sound like a hiss.

"You dare to refuse an order from your superior when so recently your comrades spent a vast amount of money and risked their lives to get you out of prison? Remember that oath of loyalty you swore to the Regency?" Andross was standing now, his anger erupting in waves as he hammered away at Murdoc. "Refuse the Regency? I don't think so."

Murdoc held up his hands, as if to deflect the tirade, aware that he had gone too far. "I didn't mean refuse... exactly," he tried to explain. "I was upset. Of course I'm still in loyalty to the Supreme Leader. It's.. it's just the timing. Give me a week, just one week. Then I'll go to Neopolis. I'll go anywhere you ask."

Another boat sped by. The black hawk sat back down, his face a mask Murdoc was unable to read. After a few tense moments of silence, he began to hope his superior had changed his mind. But when Andross spoke, his words dropped like little exploding bombs into the already disturbed mind of Tristan Rhoms.

"You will go where I say... and you will go tonight. And try," he said sarcastically, "not to make any more mistakes like you did on Acadia Island. Attempting to kill" - Caden was enjoying mocking the angry red-colored wolf - "that two-tailed freak who managed to outsmart a trained bounty hunter like you."

"Enough!" Murdoc yelled. "I will make up for any mistakes I might have made in the past. And let me remind you of all the successful jobs I did before that rotten spoiled two-tailed freak fox kid spotted me. Let me take care of him, and I will be more than ready to serve the cause-"

"This job will not wait," Andross interrupted. "Your personal problem will have to!"

The discussion was over; an ultimatum had been given. Andross laid a thick manila envelope on the rickety table.

"Tonight you go to Neopolis and do as you are told, or we will see to it that both the Bygone and Acadia Islands government entities find you long before you find Miles Tails Prower."

Murdoc knew he was defeated. He picked up the bulging envelope marked only with the bird insignia in the upper left-handed corner. His hands trembled, and the cold of that miserable room began to sink into his bones. He listened to his instructions without meeting the black hawk's eyes.

"Inside you will find the name of your contact in Neopolis, a false passport, and your first-class plane ticket on the Neolan Airlines, which you will pick up at two-thirty tonight in Acadia City. Devon here, who has contacts with the Acadian and Neolan government entities, will get you over the checkpoints and onto the plane at Acadia City. Thanks to Jedidiah Prower and the Acadia Island government entities, your face is all over the Internet and on posters on every island within a hundred mile radius, so you will need Devon's contacts to get on the plane. But the rest is up to you. And by the way, 'Scarface,' " Andross sneered, "don't get distracted by some little kids, especially two-tailed freaky foxes and mess this one up too."

Loud guffaws broke out from both anthropomorphic animals at the reminder of what Murdoc's young pests had called him on the witness stand. The taunt worked; Murdoc's fist flew. The cheap glass cup smashed against the wall, breaking into a million pieces and flying in all directions. He tucked the envelope under his arm and stormed out - heading for Neola Island in a very bad mood.

Uh oh, bad beginning to this sequel, yikes! So what is it exactly what Andross, Murdoc, and the Regency plan to do? The answer will be revealed as the storyline continues in future chapters. If you liked it so far, please leave me a review. Until then, God bless you and your family.
