Story Notes: Like I said this isn't my best story, but I'd written so much that I just decided to continue. Another few stories will be coming soon, and I hope they will be better than this. I've been watching a lot of Arrow at the moment so there will be tons of action in those.

Chapter Summary: Tintin is finally free but will Calculus and Topolino be safe? Will Haddock reach them in time?

Chapter 16

Tintin turned around to find Dr Krikov, once again pointing a gun towards his chest.

"What did you do?"

"What I had to do," Tintin replied, without hesitation.

"You're a fool," Krikov stated, his expression remaining indifferent.

Snowy growled at him, standing in front of his master ready to defend him.

"Put the gun down," Tintin exclaimed. "It's over,"

The gun shook in his hand.

Krikov, It's not worth it, Tintin thought, watching him carefully as he gradually started to lower the gun. A gun suddenly fired, and Krikov fell straight into Tintin, revealing Sponsz behind him.

"Ivanovitch!" Tintin shouted, pulling him over onto his back.

Tintin glared up at Sponsz as he checked for a pulse.

Nothing.

"GET UP!" Sponsz yelled, enough to make the corridor shake.

Tintin slowly pulled himself up, staring at Sponsz the entire time.

"I've just about had enough of you!" he spat, aiming the gun straight at him.

A blast rocked the compound, Knocking them off their feet, sending Tintin flying across the floor. Fire sprayed from the lab door, scorching the corridor and pushed smoke everywhere.

Tintin sprang to his feet and rushed to the stairs, followed closely by Snowy.

Sponsz pulled himself up just in time to see Tintin run. His infuriation supercharged his abilities, and he raced after him. He followed him up the stairs.

He's heading for the roof. I've got you now.

The professors hurried up the shoreline and desperately started to tackle the rocky bank that led to the main road.

Thank goodness. We're safe, Alfredo thought.

Alfredo reached the top first then helped Cuthbert up the last little bit of bank. Alfredo quickly glanced over the lake.

Come on Tintin, hurry up.

They both breathed in relief then started to walk up the road. The sun had started to race towards the horizon. Alfredo didn't want to be wandering around in the dark.

We may be in Syldavia, but we're still lost. I have no idea where we are.

After five minutes, Cuthbert finally spoke.

"I promised myself I would never leave him again and look where we are, He's still in there," Cuthbert exclaimed.

"It's Tintin, remember. You said it yourself, he's resourceful he'll ..."

They both paused as a heavy boom reverberated nearby.

"What was ..."

Their eyes widened as they turned around. A whole chunk of the fortress had exploded, leaving a large gap in the side of the building. Smoke immediately stated to billow around with the wind. Cuthbert started to run, but Alfredo immediately jumped in front of him, grabbing him by the shoulders.

"Cuthbert no! He told us to run! If he were here, what would he say?"

"Run," Cuthbert said slowly.

His resistance faded. Alfredo wanted nothing more than to run back and help Tintin, but they needed to alert the police. They kept walking, but they kept looking behind, unable to keep their eyes off the building. No cars had passed them either.

Come on, please. Just one car.

After about fifteen minutes, they were still walking and getting more anxious with each step.

Alfredo sat down on a log for a breather staring up the road. As he did so, the roar of engines followed.

"Is that .."

Cuthbert's sentence ended as several cars hurtled around the corner. They both rushed onto the road, waving their hands until the vehicles stopped. Uniformed men immediately jumped from the vehicles.

Police, what luck.

Three men rushed out of the lead car, and Alfredo froze in surprise.

Captain Haddock rushed and hugged the professors.

I have never been so happy to see someone.

"Blistering .. God it's so good to see you!" The Captain exclaimed joyously.

Wait ... where's...

The Captain's face fell immediately.

"Where's Tintin?"

"He's still in there with Sponsz you need to get him! He's already injured!"

The Captain's face tightened at the mention of Sponsz' name.

That ruffian, that swine! When I get my hands on that Dictatorial duck-billed diplodocus I'm going to strangle him!

Tintin launched himself up the stairs, bravely holding his own despite the pain building in his chest. He wrestled through the door, took a deep breath and pushed himself into a sprint just as Sponsz cleared the door. As bullets fired, he leapt onto the wall, ready to jump into the water. As the bullet thumped into his side, he fell into midair, falling straight into the water below.

Tintin resurfaced, inhaling oxygen. Snowy barked beside him and started to swim. A hail of bullets followed from above. Unable to dive, he didn't have a choice and started to swim. Unwilling to raise his head, he pushed on through the pain, even as blood escaped into the crystal clear water.

Don't stop.

Come on. You're so close.

It's not over though. Read on to find out if he gets to safety.
