October 31, 2774 – Acmetropolis

It's Halloween in Acmetropolis; tricks and treats all day. Not much crime happens this night, which gives our heroes a break to enjoy themselves.

"Happy haroin!" Megan shouted entering the living of HQ.

"Haroin?" Slam said.

"It's Halloween, Meg," Ace corrected her, "With L's."

"What's your costume supposed to be?" asked Lexi.

"Hatsune Miku, the best computer idol of forever!"

Everyone was wearing a costume:

Ace: pirate captain

Slam: Wrestler

Tech: Steampunk

Rev: Combination of comic heroes

Lexi: Ava from Cybernetic Riot (made up sci-fi game character)

Duck: himself with robin egg blue cape and matching boots

"This would be your first Halloween, right?" Tech asked.

"I've heard about it," Megan said, "We don't really celebrate it in Japan."

"Oh-man-it's-so-much-it-can-be-a-trick-or-treat-depending-on-what-you-do-watch-scary-movies-pranks-scare-people-eat-candy-sweet-meep-meep-" Rev rumbled.

"Pssh! Like any of those childish things can scare this brave duck," Duck teleported in front.

"I'm actually not good with scary things," Megan said nervously.

"Oh really?" Megan turned around to be face-to-face with a zombie.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

"Haha, chill," Alice laughed lowering the fake zombie mask. Alice was dressed as a pirate, matching Ace, but different colors. Megan nearly fainted.

"OKASHIKUNAI O!"

"You're not so fearless," Ace nudged his twin.

"I've got an idea!" Lexi chimed in. "We should go to that new escape room on the square."

"Make it more interesting with a bet!" said Duck.

"Last person to crack is the winner," said Tech.

~Acmetropolis Square~

Despite it being a popular holiday, the escape room was empty.

"Wow so spooky," Alice said sarcastically.

"Welcome to Acmetropolis' one and only escape room," said the employee at the front desk. Maybe it was part of a role, but she didn't seem to enthusiastic. "Sign the waivers stating we are not responsible for anything that happens." She led the team to an elevator door. "What happens here, stays here…" The elevator lights went out and when they came back on, the employee was gone. The door opened to a windowless room.

"I don't understand," Megan said.

"It's a game," Ace explained, "The goal is to find clues and escape before time runs out."

"It-should-not-take-too-long," said Rev, "Think-of-it-like-Sherlock-Holmes-or-Scooby-Doo-Mystery."

"Like one big puzzle," Tech said pulling a book off a shelf, making a secret passage appear. The narrow hallway had spiderwebs; unknown if they were real or made of cotton. To Duck's enjoyment, Megan was holding his arm tightly. But secretly he wanted to teleport out of there ASAP. Nobody had a good feeling about this place honestly. The farther they walked, the more fog appeared. Suddenly the ground beneath them disappeared, separating them: (Megan & Duck, Lexi & Alice, Slam & Tech, Rev & Ace).
