Dance With The Prince Of The Ball

Ryo x Lettuce

(Lettuce pov.)

I couldn't believe I was here. But why was someone from the kitchen of the palace willing to help me have a good time?

The ballroom was so big and so many people around.

How was she to find her father in this mess? Or her sister for that matter. As long as she didn't have a run in with her step brother and sister and mother didn't find her here, she would be fine.

But no one paid attention to the girl who looks like a fish with green hair.

"And now, here is the prince!" Someone announced the prince entering the room, and she was stunned. Prince Ryo was so dashing even with his cold look to everyone in the room.

"And he will now, pick the most beautiful lady, to dance with."

Ryo started scanning the room of all the ladies, and I heard her.

"What about me, your highness...Hey!" My step sister spoke with grace, but he moved right on from her.

But when he came into my view, I looked down to avoid eye contact.

But he took my hand. I looked us, and he had this warm look in his eyes. He pulled me out of all the girls, and placed his hand on my back.

I was dancing with the prince!

I couldn't believe it! Me?! Of all the girls in the room, he picked me. I saw Kiichiro out of the corner of my eye and he was smiling brightly. My so called guardian, helped me get the prince attention. That's not what I wanted to do!

"Don't be so nervous." The prince spoke to me.

I was shocked he would speak to me, but he must not know I work in the palace.

"I'm sorry. First time dancing with...another person."

"Well, your doing just fine. You can relax." He said. "I'm not going to hurt you."

I felt my cheeks heat up but I was smiling. I was so happy hearing him say that, but this could only be a dream. There was no way he'd like the real me. So for this one night, I was someone else.

"You looking for someone?" Ryo asked.

He must have noticed that I was looking around the room. "Yes. My father and sister." I told him. "I was...separated from them and now I can't find them." I said. While it was true, I didn't want to tell him about my..."Other family" and be ashamed.

"I see. When were done I'll help you look for them." He said.

I felt happy that he would help, but he would find out who I really am if he did.

"That's alright. I'm sure I'll find them. There are here somewhere." I said playing it off.

But I realized, she was seeing me.

My stepmother saw me, but I don't think she knew it was me.

As the song ended, I pulled away. "Thank you." I bowed and ran into the crowd.

"Wait!" I heard the prince shout but I kept going.

I heard my step sister stop him and made it my chance. I got out of the palace and back around the back to toss the dress, shoes, and everything.

I made it back to the kitchen, and Kiichiro and my step mother were coming. "I told you she's been here." He said.

"I saw you in there! How do I trust with what you say?!" She snapped at him.

I only ignored them and kept cleaning the kitchen.

She looked around with an evil snare. "It's super shiny in here. Good work. I guess Kiichiro might be right. But I have my eye on you this time."

I nodded. Keeping my smile to myself.

But my the next day, the news came out and everything changed.

"Prince Ryo and the king, ask the girl who danced with his son, may come forward as he wishes for you to be his wife and the new queen. Please come forward. And anyone with information on her, please pass it to her or bring her forward."

I was in SO much trouble. But he was willing to marry me. But would he if he knew the truth?
