Hi!

This is a collection of one shots about Olitz and their family. It could be Olitz from one of my stories or a new one altogether. I'll let you know at the top of each chapter. I wanted to separate the spicy stuff from the non spicy. Spicy Olitz will be posted under It's Getting Hot In Here. Let me know what you think. Enjoy & stay safe out there :)

I Saw The Sign

"Baaaaaaaaaaaabe? Come on!" Olivia called impatiently from the kitchen. "They'll be Face Timing us any minute."

"I'm coming!" He called back as he headed down the stairs and towards the sound of his wife's voice.

"That's what you were saying not even ten minutes ago too." Olivia said with a proud grin.

"At least I was forming words." Fitz chuckled. He leaned down and kissed her cheek before going to the fridge and grabbing two bottles of water and sitting down in the chair beside her. The iPad lay open on the table. "You were all moans and whimpers."

He imitated her voice terribly on purpose, panting heavily in between the sounds to get his point across. "Mmmmmm! Uhhhhh! Ohhhhh!"

She grinned at his ridiculous imitation of her earlier self as the intense feeling of wanting him began to stir inside of her all over again. Leaning closer, she pulled his bottom lip between her teeth and lightly bit down. He pulled her onto his lap in a flash and his hands were all over her. Releasing his lip, Olivia whispered, "maybe after this call you can take me back upstairs and make me speechless again?"

Fitz kissed her hungrily, pulling her body impossibly closer to his. The desire to be inside her was beyond intense. "Want...you...now." he mumbled between kisses.

The iPad started making the familiar sound of an incoming FaceTime connection. Olivia reluctantly broke the fiery kiss and looked at her husband of thirty eight years. The obvious desire on his face was probably a mirror image of her own. He was staring at her as if she was his prey and he was starving.

His eyes were just as blue as they ever had been, but now they were surrounded by thin lines of aging. Olivia called them life lines and, in her opinion, they made him look distinguished and more handsome, if that was even possible. The sandy curls on his head had turned salt and pepper, but were still just as soft as the first day she touched them. Fitz had kept himself in great shape over the years, and Olivia had reaped the benefit of that in more ways than the one she liked best.

"Why are you staring at me like that, woman?" he asked with a funny look on his ridiculously handsome face.

Instead of answering him immediately, she leaned closer and pecked his lips before crawling out of his lap and back into her own seat. "You are still as sexy as ever."

"Mmmm, right back atcha babe." Ignoring the FaceTime call altogether, Fitz growled lightly and wondered how fast he could get her upstairs and on her back again. He eyed her perfectly smooth cocoa skin that had felt like a furnace underneath him just a few minutes ago. He'd bet it wouldn't take much to get it...

"Let's deal with this first." Olivia said, interrupting his thoughts. She slid her finger across the screen and watched her grandson's face appear from the next state away. "Heyyyy, Christopher!"

"Hiiii Jama" The boy excitedly replied with an exaggerated wave.

"Oh my goodness. Look at you! You've gotten so big since the last time we talked! And handsome too. Hasn't he, Pop Pop?" Olivia asked. Time was going by much too fast when it came to her grand babies, in Olivia's opinion.

Fitz leaned closer to the Pad to inspect his grandson's face. "Wow, dude. Is that mustache growing on your lip already?"

Christopher giggled and leaned closer to inspect his face. He wiped his upper lip and replied to his grandfather. "That's just chocolate, Pop Pop."

"Good. I'd hate to think that you could grow a mustache faster than me, kid."

The boy giggled in response and rubbed his eye.

"Have you gotten any snow yet?"

"Not yet, but dad says it's coming soon. Do you guys have any there?"

"Not yet, little man." Olivia told him.

He squinted at his father's home screen and added, "I'm almost as big as my mom."

"Your mom is barely five foot tall. Let me know when you're as big as I am." Fitz challenged.

"Have you been measured lately? I'll bet you're lots bigger than the last time." Olivia said nodding excitedly.

"Yea. I was measured last week and the doctor said I've gotten lots bigger. She also said I'm supposed to go to another doctor next week, but I'm not gonna go."

Now Fitz squinted at the screen. "What do you mean, you're not gonna go?"

"You have a doctor's appointment? Is everything ok, baby?" Olivia asked as worry started forming in her mind.

"Yea, I'm just not going."

"You are too going." A familiar voice said off screen.

"I don't wanna go, dad." Christopher whined.

"Carteroni!" Fitz sang out. "What's going on with Christopher? Why is he going to the doctor and why doesn't he want to go? What did you do to my boy? Do I need to come up there and kick your...butt?"

Carter's face popped onto the screen suddenly, and he smiled at his parents while waving exactly as his son had done moments ago. "Hi!"

"Don't hi us! We're the king and queen of hi." Olivia told him plainly.

"Daaaaaad!" Christopher whined off screen. "I was talking to them!"

"Just give me a minute, son." Carter replied to Christopher. Turning his attention to his phone screen, Carter shot his own father a wild grin and said, "that's cute, dad. You couldn't kick my butt if I had both hands tied behind my back."

"Your house is only a three hour drive from here, Cart." Fitz reminded him.

"What's your point?" Carter challenged playfully.

"Do you want me to come down there so I can prove that I still have what it takes?"

Christopher cheered loudly off screen and said, "yea, Pop Pop! Come to my house!"

"You'll lose, but I'll make the drive if you want me to, big mouth." Fitz said, goading him on.

"How you stayed married to him all these years is a mystery to me." Carter told his mother.

"Kiss ass." Fitz said, grinning at his son.

"I learned from the best." Carter shot back. His grin matched his dad's. "You can't come here right now anyway. You have to stay home until the threat of Covid is over. Besides, you can't be away from mom that long and we both know it. That's too bad really, because I would have beaten you senseless old man."

"In your dreams." Fitz said, and rolled his eyes dramatically. "And don't call me old man."

"By the way, you keep getting more beautiful every time I see you, mom."

Olivia smiled at her youngest son. He had always been such a charmer. She saw through it, even as she appreciated the compliment. "Thank you, baby. Now if you and your father are done acting like cavemen, can you please tell me what's going on with Christopher? Why doesn't he want to go to the doctor? And why does he need to go to another one in the first place?"

Carter brought Christopher onto his lap and then explained the situation. "He has an appointment with the eye doctor next Thursday at two."

"Is this a routine appointment?"

"Well, no. At his annual check up a few weeks ago, he failed his eye exam."

"Well, those letters on that paper should be an alphabetical order." Fitz grumbled. "It would make things easier."

"Anyways...he's going to get an eye exam to see what's going on. He's been having a hard time seeing his online assignments too. At first, we thought it was too much screen time with the games. That it was hurting his eyes or doing damage. But he's not going to school in person, so he has to be in his online classes. I dunno. Maybe it's nothing."

Olivia listened to her son's explanation. And then she ignored him completely and focused on her grandson. "So, you're scared to go to the optometrist?"

Christopher nodded with a sad look, hoping it would do the trick and Jama would tell his dad that he didn't have to go. She was a sucker for sad eyes and everybody in the family knew it.

Fitz and Carter chuckled to themselves. This kid was about to be schooled.

She smiled at her grandson while her nose crinkled. "Here's the deal, Christopher. You can't trick me into being on your side. I'm already there. And for the record..."

"Ooooooh! He's getting the old 'for the record' speech." Carter chuckled at his dad.

"Carter. Quiet!" Olivia in a stern tone.

"Yes, ma'am." Carter replied immediately.

"You got busted" Fitz whispered with a maniacal grin, pointing at his son.

Olivia turned her head and simply gave her husband a look.

"What?" he whispered. When her expression didn't change, he was wise enough to add a sincere, "sorry, babe" before immediately quieting.

"I raised your daddy and your uncle Lincoln. Puppy dog eyes don't work on me."

The youngest Grant huffed loudly. He really thought that would have worked a lot better. "Okay, but I really am scared to go to the eye doctor."

"What is so scary about it?" Fitz asked.

"Doctor Julie told me that they will put something close to my eye so the eye doctor can look real good into my eyes."

"That shouldn't be scary, buddy." Fitz said in a soothing tone. "It's so the doctor can see what the problem is with your eyes. It might be nothing more than tired eyes. Or, you could need to wear glasses."

"I don't want to wear glasses, Pop Pop!" Christopher practically shrieked as he rubbed his eye again.

"Why not?"

"Because the other kids will make fun of me." Christopher admitted.

"From your zoom classes? Your teacher isn't going to let that happen. If you have to get glasses, now is the perfect time to do it."

"How come?"

"Because you don't have to ride the bus to school, sit in a classroom all day long with the other kids and then ride a bus back home. You're doing school online. And that means less time the kids will see you. By the time you go back to school in the building, you'll be so used to wearing them that it won't bother you anymore."

"Maybe." He was still a little nervous about what was going to happen in the eye doctor's office. "I wish you could go with me, Pop Pop. I wouldn't be scared then."

Fitz thought about it for a few minutes and then got an idea. "How about this? I'll call my doctor and set up an eye appointment for me. I'll try to get it on the same day as yours. When I get home, I'll text your dad and when you get home from your appointment we can FaceTime again and talk about how it went and what happened. What do you think?"

Christopher's face lit up and he was nodding wildly. "Yes! That would be awesome!"

"When was the last time you had your eyes checked, Pop Pop?" Carter teased.

"Don't worry about it, Cart. How's our perfect daughter in law?"

"You'd better be treating her like a queen, Carter." Olivia advised.

"Relax folks. My six months pregnant wife is doing fine. She's out getting a pedicure as we speak."

Deciding that changing the topic might be a good idea, Olivia asked her grandson, "do you want a brother or a sister, Christopher?"

"A brother. Dad says you can't go through life without a brother. Right?" Christopher looked up at his father.

"Right, bud." Carter answered, and winked at his son.

"I want a brother."

"Awwww. That's precious, Cart." Olivia said, missing her boys being together.

"What's precious about it, Liv?" Fitz asked with a genuinely confused look. "Link and Cart tried to beat each other bloody on more than one occasion, constantly hid stuff from each other, and pranked each other every single day."

"And how is that different to your childhood with Thad?" Olivia asked.

Fitz opened his mouth to tell her, but all of the reasons avoided him. "That's different."

"How?" Olivia chuckled.

"Because Thad and I were cool about it."

"Pops didn't think you guys were very cool when the two of you hid in the bushes at Disney and pranked him with the car alarm at dark thirty. You and Thad woke up every damn body."

Fitz laughed at the memory. "That was one of our better pranks. We really got him that time."

"Link and I did something similar to you a long time ago too."

The laughter died, and Fitz squinted at the iPad again. "What are you talking about?"

"Bad...connection...gotta...go." Christopher's laughter wasn't as broken up as Carter's terrible attempt at his avoidance to share details. Instead, he picked Christopher up, set him down on the sofa, and took off upstairs.

"Next Thursday afternoon we will FaceTime again to talk about our eye doctor appointments, okay?" Fitz asked with as much excitement as he could muster.

"It's gonna be great, Pop Pop. I can't wait now."

"That's my big guy." Olivia coaxed happily. "When you see your mommy, give her a biiiiiiiiiiig hug from Jama and Pop Pop, okay? And kiss that baby bump."

"Yes, ma'am."

"We love you buddy." Fitz told his grandson.

"Love you too." Christopher replied.

"Don't forget. Next Thursday." Fitz told him with a wink.

"Bye Christopher! Love you!" Olivia chirped.

"Bye."

Once the FaceTime was ended, Olivia closed the iPad and set it down on the table in front of them. "That was a really good idea, you going to the optometrist next week. I bet that made him feel more comfortable with the idea, knowing you will be getting your eyes checked too."

"I'm not going to the optometrist." Fitz said, shaking his head back and forth.

"What the hell are you talking about? Of course you're going. You told Christopher that you were."

"Yea, that was to...like you said, make him feel more comfortable about going himself. Why would I go get my eyes checked?"

"Let's see. Because you squint at everything you read, you are constantly asking me to read fine print for you, and, oh yea! You told our grandson that you were going! We're not lying to our grandkids, Fitz!"

"Liv, I think you're making too big of a deal about it." Jeez. Why was she so worked up about it?

Olivia crossed her arms in front of her chest and gave him a smug look. "And how were you going to go over what happened to you with Christopher, in detail, from your fake optometrist appointment?"

Fitz brought his hands in front of his chest, palms up and shot her a confused look. "I'll watch a YouTube video like normal people do."

"Fitzgerald Grant! You are not lying to our grandson about going to the doctor. You told him you were going, and you are going!"

"But Liv. I..." he started.

"You need to make some calls, find someone who takes our insurance, and make yourself an appointment for next week. Thursday if possible." Olivia told him.

"I don't wanna go. They're gonna look into my eyes and stuff with that machine." He said, trying to sound like Christopher. He stuck his tongue out at her.

Olivia chuckled at her husband and patted his cheek. "That was good! You sounded just like your eight year old grandson. Go be a grown up."

Fitz grinned at her before licking his lips and pecking hers.

"If you get the appointment made today, I'll cook dinner and draw us a bath afterwards."

Fitz perked up at the mention of Olivia being naked with him again. He quickly took her limp hand and shook it before she could change her mind. "Deal!"

Two days later, Fitz walked into the offices of Kalfen and Tittle. Part of him wanted to attempt to get an appointment for the same day as Christopher. The bigger part, wanted to hurry up and get it the hell over with instead of having it looming over his head for the next eleven days. Instead, he scheduled it for the next available appointment. Thanks in part to Covid and people wanting to stay at home, he got an appointment for the same week. His wife suggested that he keep his appointment date vague when they had their next FaceTime with Christopher.

Olivia gently squeezed his hand and sat in an empty chair while he signed himself in. When he was done, Fitz sat down beside his wife with a clipboard in his hand. He silently began filling it out with the provided ink pen. Stopping for a moment he looked over at his wife and simply said, "Liv?"

She tore her eyes from the magazine she didn't care a thing about and replied, "that's my name."

"Funny." He said in a bland tone. "Are you going to come back there with me?"

"I thought I'd wait for you out here." She told him and turned her attention back to the outdated magazine. He was a grown ass man who could get his eyes checked all by himself.

Before they could finish their conversation or he could complete the forms a door was opened and his name was called by a woman in green scrubs. "Fitzgerald Grant."

"That's me." He informed her as he looked in her direction.

"I'll be right here, babe. If you're good, we'll go get an ice cream afterwards, okay?" Olivia shot him an exaggerated grin.

The nurse chuckled lightly at their exchange.

"I hope you brought money because you're buying." Fitz said with a playful smile. He leaned closer to her and brushed his lips across hers before disappearing behind the closed door with the nurse.

"Right this way, Mr. Grant." The nurse chirped. "My name is Sarah and I'm going to take care of you. Have you ever been here before?"

"I have not. In fact, this is my first appointment with an optometrist. I'm only here because I told my grandson that I would go so he wouldn't be nervous at his first optometrist appointment next week." Fitz explained as he followed her down a narrow hall.

"Really? That's kind of cool that both of you have first appointments so close to each other." She gestured to an empty room and said, "you're in here. You can take a seat in the exam chair."

Fitz sat down and explained the situation to Sarah, who oooh-ed and ahhh-ed several times as he shared his story. "That's the sweetest thing I've heard all week. So, the two of you are going to compare notes after he sees his doctor?"

"That's the plan." Fitz told her. "So, what can I expect today?"

"Honestly, it's not a big deal at all. You'll read some letters and the doctor will look into your eyes. He's very good to tell you what he's going to do before he does it so you're completely comfortable."

"That makes sense."

"Tell me has anything been going on with your eyes lately?" she asked.

"Well..." he didn't want to say the words out loud. He felt like if he spoke them it would make the situation real, and that meant he was getting older. It wasn't a reality he was ready to confront yet.

"You know how to go to your doctor's office when something is wrong?"

"Yea."

"And they ask you what's going on. What hurts, feels bad, whatever?"

"Of course."

"This is just like that. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's bothering your eyes. Are you experiencing blurry vision? Is it hard to read or see things that are close to you or far away from you?"

She was right. He needed to get over himself and just be honest. He took a deep breath in and let it out before charging ahead. "Things close up are blurry to see. A little."

"I understand. I'm going to go ahead and check your vision." She told him. "Do you see the monitor reflected in the mirror on the wall in front of you?"

Fitz nodded.

"We're going to cover your left eye with this plastic piece, and you're going to look through the hole with your right. Then you'll do the same thing with the other eye. You're going to read the letters in the mirror." She held something up to his face that covered his left eye and had a hole in it for his right eye to see out of.

Fitz read the letters as he saw them. Sarah flipped the piece of plastic around so it covered his left eye and left his right one uncovered. He read the letters off as he saw them.

"Great job." Sarah told him enthusiastically. "Now we're going to check your reading vision."

She took the plastic piece he'd just used and handed him a pocket vision screen card with different sized numbers printed on it. Some of the numbers were covered up and Sarah instructed Fitz to hold the card away from his body, but not quite arm's length away. "Looking at the numbers on the left side of the card, what's the smallest row you can read from left to right?"

Shit. They were all a little fuzzy, but they got fuzzier as the print got smaller. Fitz didn't want to squint down at them, but it was necessary for him to read the numbers. He could read the fifth row pretty clearly. That was not a comforting thought since the first row contained two numbers that were at least an inch big. He pointed to the fifth row and then read them to her. "That's terrible isn't it?"

"Not at all. I've seen better, but I've also seen worse. Don't be so hard on yourself, Mr. Grant." Sarah got to her feet and pulled down what looked like a huge pair of glasses. "We're going to use these to find out when the letter Z on the monitor is clear for you to see."

Fitz considered suggesting that Sarah just find a pair of binoculars and glue them to his eyes. He hoped things went so much better for Christopher next week. That he didn't get scared or nervous about all of this. Fitz was starting to fidget at sixty. He could only imagine what his eight year old grandson would be feeling. No wonder he didn't want to go in the first place. Getting older was a bitch! He sighed. "fine."

Sarah pushed the contraption close to his face until one of the eye holes was over his right eye. "Okay, Mr. Grant. Looking at the Z up there, and this being one, is it better one..."

One was shit. It might have made things even fuzzier? Was that possible, Fitz wondered?

Sarah fiddled with something and the lens changed. "...Or two?"

Huh. Two was crystal clear. He could almost read the bottom line on the monitor without squinting. This had just become much more interesting to him. "Two." Fitz said in a voice filled with wonder.

"Perfect. Great job." Sarah pulled the machine away from his face and moved the opening on the left side over that eye. "Same thing. Other eye."

Again, Fitz could see so much clearer with option two. Excitement began to build inside of him at the realization that he wouldn't be squinting at things for much longer. He wondered if Liv would still think he was sexy if he had to wear glasses. In reality, he knew he should have done this when his eye sight began to get fuzzy a few years ago.

She checked the pressure of Fitz's eyes next. "We check this every time you come in because glaucoma is a silent disease and you don't know you have it unless you can feel the pressure in your eyes. If you can feel pressure pushing on the front of your eye, it's probably pushing on the back of it too and slowly taking your vision."

There was a lot more to this first exam than just reading letters with one eye. Fitz was kinda glad he had come now.

"Okay, now I'm going to dilate your eyes. Once I put these drops in it's going to take about fifteen minutes for it to take effect. Once that happens, it will last about four hours and it will blur your vision at near only. So, you can see far away, but not up close."

"So, a typical day then." Fitz joked.

"Maybe, but we're going to help you with that." Sarah informed him. She reclined his chair so he was lying flat on his back. He had pretty blue eyes. She was a sucker for blue eyes. His wife probably was too, she thought with a smile. He reminded her of her dad. That's probably why she was being so attentive with him. He was super nice. His nerves made him seem that much more endearing. "Okay, Mr. Grant. I'm going to put the drops in now. You ready?"

"Ready." Again, Fitz wondered what his grandson would think about this part of the visit.

After she had put them in his eyes, she asked Fitz to blink, and then Sarah wiped his eyes and brought his chair back to a seated position. "Alright. Your time with me is over. That wasn't so bad, was it?"

"Not really, no." Fitz admitted. "You did a great job at explaining everything. Thank you for that."

"You're welcome." She chirped. "Everything will go just as smoothly for your grandson at his appointment too. I'm sure the two of you will have lots to talk about."

"That's a nice thing to say. I'm sure it will too. He is really nervous for some reason."

"But you weren't, right?" she asked with a chuckle.

"Me? Nah! It was a piece of cake so far."

"There ya go! I told you it wouldn't be a big deal. Now, I'm going to take you out to the dilation area where you'll wait until Yvonne comes to get you..."

"You guys have an Yvonne?" Fitz asked with a huge grin.

"Yeeeeees?" Sarah replied in an unsure tone. She didn't know why that name made him so happy all of a sudden.

"Is she crazy? Not certifiably so, but fun crazy? A little bit?"

"Most definitely! She's our party planner. Why?"

"I know an Yvonne. She is the best. Borderline certifiably crazy though. Maybe fun is associated with the name? Like, every person named Yvonne is a little bit off." Fitz pondered aloud.

"Maybe? Let's get you settled in that waiting area now, Mr. Grant." Sarah led him to the empty waiting area where she wished him a good day and said goodbye.

In no time at all, it seemed, a young woman walked up to him and said, "My name is Yvonne and I'm going to check your eyes really quick, Mr. Grant."

She made a sweeping motion in front of each eye with a light. When she was finished with the second eye she smiled and said, "you're ready. Come with me."

Fitz followed her down another hall. His mind told him that Sarah must have been wrong about Yvonne being fun. She seemed so dry and serious. She showed him to a different room and instructed him to lie down on the flat table inside. Glancing over his paperwork she said, "so you're here for the enucleation, Mr. Grant?"

He gave a confused look. "The what?"

"Eye removal." She said it as if she were talking about the weather.

Fitz sat up abruptly, covering both eyes with his hands and tried to get off the table. "What?! Eye removal? Hell no! I think you got your patients mixed up lady!"

Yvonne was laughing like a lunatic. "Kidding! I needed a good ice breaker for Mr. Uptight and mannnnn did that do the trick."

He put a hand to his chest to make sure it was still beating. She had just scared the bejesus out of him. When he finally saw the humor in the situation, Fitz began to laugh with her. "You really got me there. You don't happen to have a twin sister with the same name and warped sense of humor, do you?"

"What? No. Why?"

"No reason." Fitz chuckled. He sat down on the edge of the table to keep an eye on her.

A knock on the door came and the optometrist finally made an appearance. "Hello, Mr. Grant. I'm Doctor Smith. Let's take a look at your eyes."

He sat in a swivel chair on the other side of yet another piece of equipment. The doctor instructed Fitz to rest his chin on a chin rest and lean his forehead against the metal bands. "Are you comfortable?"

Fitz nodded.

"Open your eyes wide and look at me. There will be some bright lights. Perfect." He shined a light in Fitz's eyes on one side of his face and then the other. "I'm going to shine a super bright light and look at the back of your eyes now. Hold still please and continue looking ahead."

Is he going to look at my hopes and dreams too, Fitz wondered to himself?

"Very good. Sit back for me now. I don't see any damage from diabetes or high blood pressure. If you are ever diagnosed with either of these diseases you really should get your eyes checked once a year. Now, how long have you been squinting at things that are close to you?"

Ohhhh, he was good. Get you comfortable with facts, and then BAM! with the truth. "Uhhhh, about a year, I guess. Maybe more."

"That's about what I suspected. What has happened is you've been using your near sighted muscles to focus on things far away, for the past year, maybe more, so that now your eyes really have to work harder to properly see things close up. The older you get the worse it will be, I'm afraid."

He was a bundle of good fucking news.

"Do you have a pair of reading glasses that no one knows about? Not even your wife?"

Wow! This guy really was good. Fitz grinned at him. "It's possible, doc."

"That's what I thought. The bad news is, the longer you keep going like this, the more you're going to need something for seeing in the distance and for seeing up close. And unlike a near sighted person, you're not going to be able to take your glasses off to see something close to you."

He had bad news by the truckload. Great.

"The good news is that you have options, Mr. Grant. You can let Yvonne point a laser at your eye and fix it easy peasy."

"Option B would be what?" he asked quickly. There was no way in hell he was doing option A.

The good doctor chuckled at his reaction. "Option B is getting a pair of prescription glasses and then getting an eye exam once a year every year to check your vision for changes."

"Option B it is." Fitz replied swiftly.

"You're no fun." Yvonne teased.

"You need to know your twin is just as crazy as you are." Fitz chuckled.

"And you're around this amazingly comical woman quite often?" She asked him.

Fitz smiled. He hadn't seen Yvonne and Jason in a couple of months. He'd talk to Liv about having them over for dinner one night soon. "Yea, but not as often as I'd like."

"Let's get that straightened out. I like knowing this woman is keeping your life interesting."

"And on that note, let's take you to look at some frames." Doctor Smith suggested.

After everything was said and done, Fitz made his way back to the waiting area to find his wife. He was ready to go home. Olivia was sitting in the same spot where he had left her, and she was absentmindedly flipping through the same magazine. "Liv?"

She glanced up at him and smiled. "That's my name."

He closed the distance between them and reached for her hand. Their fingers intertwined immediately and they headed for the door. "What did they say?" she asked.

"Ohhhhhh no! You gotta buy me an ice cream first. Then I'll tell you everything that they said." He pushed the door open and the two of them walked out into the sunshine.

The following Thursday, Fitz sat beside his wife on the sofa and counted the minutes until Christopher FaceTimed them. He turned to look her in the eye. "What do you think he's going to say?"

She gave a light shrug. "He's going to be thrilled to compare notes with you and hear about how you kept your part of the bargain when you tell him what happened at your appointment."

"Maybe."

The iPad started making the funny noise of an incoming FaceTime connection. Olivia leaned towards her husband and pecked his lips before turning the devise to face him. "It's the moment of truth."

Fitz took a deep breath in and let it out before sliding his finger across the screen. His grandson's cute grinning face greeted him. "Christopher! How are ya buddy?"

"Hey, Pop Pop! I'm good. How are you?"

"Hey my sweet boy."

"Jama! Heyyyy!"

"Did you go to your eye doctor appointment or did you chicken out?" Fitz asked with a grin.

"I went to it. Did you go to yours?" Christopher asked his grandfather.

"Yup." Fitz told him. "What did your doctor say?"

"He said I have allgeries and that's why my eyes hurt."

"Al what?"

"Allergies." Olivia told him with a wink. "Keep up with the conversation Pop Pop."

"Ohhhh. Right. So, did they tell you your allergies would get better all by themselves?" Fitz asked. The boy wasn't rubbing his eyes any more.

"Nope. He gave me some eye drops that my mom and dad have to put in my eyes. It's not very fun."

"Better than wearing glasses?" Fitz asked.

"Uh huh!" Christopher nodded with a serious look. "What did your doctor say?"

"Let me show you." Fitz opened the item in his hand and slid it on his face.

"You got glasses? No way! Did it hurt?" Fitz chuckled.

"No, it didn't hurt, crazy boy! They looked at my eyes up close and then they looked at them even closer. It wasn't bad. They said my eyes are old and need help seeing things up close. So, I got some glasses. What do you think?"

Christopher tilted his head to the side and looked at his grandfather. "You look...different. But good too. Did your doctor put that big pair of glasses up to your eyes?"

"Yep. Did your doctor shine a light on your eyes?"

"Yea. It was freaky." Christopher admitted. "Your glasses look nice."

Fitz leaned closer to the iPad and spoke in a softer tone. "Your Jama says I look handsome." He wiggled his eyebrows, making his grandson laugh.

Olivia slid the iPad towards her until Fitz was completely out of the screen. "I did tell him that. But he doesn't look more handsome than you do. Don't tell him I said that."

Christopher giggled and shook his head back and forth.

"What are you two talking about?" Fitz asked and slid the iPad over some so both he and Liv were on the screen.

"Nothing." Christopher said with an angelic face. "Right, Jama?"

Olivia nodded and agreed. "Right."

"Do your eyes feel better at all kiddo?"

"Yea. The doctor said it's gonna take a few days until they feel all the way better."

"I'm glad it was nothing serious. You gotta promise me to take good care of your eyes, okay buddy?" Fitz said.

"I will."

"Christopher?" Savannah called out.

"Ma'am?" Christopher called back.

"There you are. What are you...Oh!" Savannah leaned down for the camera to capture her face on the little screen. "Hello there."

"Hiiii. How are you feeling these days?"

"Big!" She chuckled, rubbing her growing belly. She stood sideways to give them a peek at her size. "Much bigger than when I was expecting Christopher.

"You look beautiful." Olivia told her.

"You do. But you're growing a baby and that's hard work." Fitz encouraged.

Savannah smiled at the two people who had become like her own parents over the years. Olivia had told her when she was pregnant with Christopher that Fitz was the best dad to be ever. Foot rubs, food runs at all hours, whatever she needed he took care of it. He might be good, but she'd bet he wasn't near as good as Carter was to her.

"Do you need anything?" Fitz asked.

She smiled at him as she ruffled her son's soft hair. "No, thank you. I have the very best baby daddy in the world. He's a one in a million. I feel like I should thank you for raising such an amazing man."

"You're..."

"No." Olivia cut in, pointing a finger at her husband. "Don't you dare try to take credit for my son being perfect.

Fitz adjusted his glasses and said, "last time I checked he was our son. And I do believe I did have a part in that too. In fact, Carter wouldn't even know how to be a great baby daddy if I hadn't..."

"Nope! Uh uh!" Olivia said loudly while chuckling.

"Bad...connection..." It was obvious that Savannah was making the terribly annoying sound herself.

Christopher was laughing at all of them. He knew this call was about over. He wanted to say something before it was. "Thanks for going to the eye doctor, Pop Pop. I was a lot less scared knowing you went too."

"Awwwww." Olivia and Savannah said in unison.

"And I'm glad you got glasses so your eyes don't get worser. They look good on you too."

"Thanks, buddy. I love you."

"Love you guys too!" He jumped down from the chair he was sitting on and took off in the house.

"See you when this craziness is over." Savannah told her in laws with a grin She brought a finger up to her lips and whispered, "or, when this little boy gets here. Don't tell Carter or Christopher. I'm going to surprise them in my own little way this weekend."

"Christopher told us he wants a brother. I'm so happy he's getting what he wanted." Olivia said softly.

"There's nothing like having a brother." Fitz told her. "We'll see you all before you know it. Take care."

"See you soon." Olivia said. "Love you guys!"

"We love both of you too. Bye." Savannah replied, and ended the video.
