Egon manages to get past the Stay Puft Marshmallow man, making his way to the store wreckage. He continues to watch the Destructor tear at buildings and destroy anything it can come across.

He is suddenly distracted by the sound of screeching metal. Egon turns toward the destroyed shop and spots more than a handful of spectral entities rummaging through the wreckage. Two large flying creatures rip a large piece of air conditioning duct from the wall and fly away with it.

"What are they doing?" Egon asks aloud as he moves closer to watch.

A familiar green spectre suddenly passes before his eyes ignoring both him and the rubble. There is what looks like white foam all around it's mouth as it mumbles happily to itself. Egon watches it approach an extremely large pile of melted marshmallow sitting on the dirty tile floor.

Slimer circles the mess a few times happily before moving in with hopes of enjoying a good meal.

"No! Go away!" the large pile of marshmallow says. Egon squints his eyes and moves closer.

"I said, go away!" the voice demands again.

This time Slimer notices it and moves closer. Egon sees something white protrude from the mess and waves the creature away. Slimer studies it for a moment, then floats away giggling gleefully. It's content to start eating marshmallow from another side of the pile.

Egon moves in closer to the mess. He can barely see the arm that was just sticking out a moment ago. "Peter?" He asks, slowly approaching. There is no immediate response, so Egon leans in for a closer look.

"Oh, hey Egon." Peter says in a very casual tone. Egon can only really see Peter's mouth when he is talking. Even his eyelids are so caked in marshmallow, it's hard to see him at all.

"You're actually alive. I can't believe it. Are you alright?" Egon asks.

"Oh yea, I'm fine." He replies sarcastically. "Once you get past the scalding hot marshmallow it's actually quite comfortable."

"I'd offer to help, but I am not really sure what I can do." Egon offers.

"It's fine." Peter replies. "My little buddies got this." He motions toward Slimer who is holding clumps of melted marshmallow in each hand while happily eating a mouthful

"Do you think the proton pack took any damage, because we may need it urgently."

"I'm sure it's fine. My bone structure took most of the damage." Peter says as he starts trying to pull himself out of the mess. "I probably should have gotten up before this started getting hard."

As Peter moves away egon starts examining the pack. It looks undamaged. "It's gonna require a lot of cleaning." he says.

"You think?" Peter responds as he tries to scrub Marshmallow off his arms. "No!" he exclaims as Slimer tries to move in closer, happily.

"While the packs are generally designed to be airtight. There is no immediate means of determining whether the marshmallow generated ectoplasma is going to inhibit the beams or simply burn away the moment the unit is put to use."

"So, we'll just clean the nozzle." Peter says pushing past Egon and grabbing one of the straps, and pulling.

"I wish it was that simple." Egon responds. "While the beams usually burn away whatever gets in front of them, I noticed when firing at Mr. Staypuft, the stream was making an attempt to wrap around him. The same phenomenon happened in 1984. This could mean there is enough ectoplasma infused with the marshmallow to cause a magnetic reaction."

Peter is pulling both straps now in an attempt to free the pack. "So you're saying it could recoil and shock me."

Neither of them notices the sound of giant footsteps getting louder.

"Shock in an understatement." Egon answers "Those streams burn 4500 Farenheit. You would be dead in an instant. The whole system would likely combust."

"So it's basically a suicide vest now." Peter says as he finally pryes the pack free.

"Let's try to avoid doing that. We'll probably need it if we want to repeat what we did back in 1984."

"Cross the streams? Again? Didn't that almost kill us?"

"Yes, it's very dangerous, but it's the only thing I know that works." The loud stomping is unavoidable now.

Peter loses his patience at all the noise. "Hey, what are you doing? Dancing over there?" He says as he turns to look at Staypuft. Egon turns to look also and they both freeze in place. Staypuft is standing nearby and looking directly at them.

"That's right, he can hear us." Peter says with a hint of hopelessness.

"He has really good hearing." Egon says in surprise as they both turn away to start running. Peter is trying to put the proton pack on as he runs.

The sound of Stay Pufts footsteps quickly moving closer fills them both with dread. They run until it's obvious that Staypuft is literally right over them.

Peter turns and tries to aim the proton pack, but he clearly can't turn it on. He's having trouble finding the trigger. Egon is still looking ahead as he spots something else.

Egon points in the opposite direction as Staypuft's foot rises to once again to come down on Venkman. Peter is still fiddling with the Proton back but having no luck.

Moments before Peter's certain death something extremely large flies through the air and crashes into StayPuft's face and upper body, causing him to stumble backwards.

Peter spots a large firey object bounce off the sugary plush and land not too far behind him. It makes a loud metalic clang which was painful to his ears. He raised his hands to block the sound. Peter turns to see what hit the Destructor, but the shock of what he does see makes him forget the pain.

"Please tell me she's on our side." Peter mumbles to Egon.

*** A couple of blocks away ***

"No! No! No! No! No!" Ray Stantz mutters loudly with a shocked face on the verge of tears. "Please tell me this is not happening. Please tell me this can't be real."

"It can't be real sir." Chris says placing a hand on Ray's shoulder and looking on in awe.

No more than a second after his response StayPuft Marshmallow Man and the Statue of Liberty collide into each other, locking hands in the beginning of a grapple.

Kate rushes up to them and grabs a shoulder from each. "Sirs, we have to go! There is no stopping them now. We have to get out of their path!"

They all turn to run and Erin joins them just as they are running past her. They don't get too far before getting distracted.
"What is that!" Kate shouts, finally breaking her calm composure. They all duck to avoid getting hit by an object flying over them. A loud flashy siren and flailing ladder reveal it's a fire truck. There is an odd ectoplasmic glow to it. They can only watch it for a moment when the sound of honking horns fills the air.

They all turn to see several cars approaching them and swerving wildly. As the first few pass, they can see the drivers are all spectral.

"They're heading in that direction." Erin states pointing back toward the ensuing battle between giants.

"Let's get out of the street!" Kate shouts as she shoves Ray toward the nearest sidewalk. There are still not many cars coming so they are able to avoid injury with ease. Traffic begins to pick up once they are clearly out of the way.

All of them sit just outside an empty apartment building to watch the ensuing insanity.

"What do they need all those cars for?" Erin asks.

"WHAT IS GOING ON?" Ray suddenly shouts. "Why is this happening? Why does it have to happen now? Everything was normal. All of this was in the past. This is supposed to be already over."

"Sir, you have to calm down." Kate answers.

"How can I be calm?" Ray replies. Despite his momentary outburst, he actually does seem a little calmer. "This is insanity. This is worse than the last two times something like this happened. Why did it have to happen while I was the mayor? Why did it have to happen during election season? How are we going to stop this? We are completely unprepared this time."

"Sir," Kate responds. "We have to stay calm. I am sure there is a way to contain this. That fight over there has bought us some time. I'm sure the entire country knows what is happening right now. We just need to make a few calls and try to organize a..."

As Kate struggles to finish her sentence they are all suddenly distracted by a spirit bumping into them as it tries to get past.
"What the?" Kate exclaims.

The spirit gets about two meters away then turns back to look at them. It's wearing what looks like a long trench coat and has an excessively large grin on its face. Kate unphased, gives it a very angry glare.

The spirit raises both hands to reveal it's holding several cellphone and a wallet dangling from a chain.

"That's my wallet." Ray tells them.

"Those are our cell phones!" Erin shouts.

The spirit lets out a loud goofy laugh and darts away. Kate tries to chase it, but it's pretty clear she can't keep up.

"Great! Now we're really helpless!" Kate says as she turns around and walks back to the group. She sits on the apartment steps, and they all turn to watch the fight between StayPuft and the Statue of Liberty. They are still pushing each other back and forth in an attempt to knock the other over. Lady Liberty manages to free a hand and starts punching StayPuft in the face. It seems to have no effect.

"She doesn't seem to be doing very well." Ray says with a concerned voice.

*** Back at the fight***

StayPuft uses his free hand to step in close and push Lady Liberty. It was just enough to trip her over causing her to crash into a building. Her tablet which was under her arm falls near her, leaning against a building with the weight crushing a few windows. StayPuft, satisfied with his little victory, begins to turn and walk away.

Peter and Egon are watching the chaos ensue from inside a building a couple of blocks away.

"Come on girl! You can't let him push you around like that." he says.

"I would think she would have the upper advantage due to weight difference," Egon interjects, "but her dress is clearly getting in the way."

Peter gives Egon a serious look. "Never talk about a woman's weight, Egon." He scolds, before turning back. "Come on beautiful. Get up! I know you can do this."

Lady Liberty has to lean on the next building to catch her footing, but afterwards she manages to get to her feet. StayPuft does not notice her. She kneels down and grabs the hem of her dress and raises it up to her waist. Despite being all metal, it moves easily like fabric. Grabbing another side, she proceeds to tie it into a knot, revealing quite a bit of her legs.

"I think she heard you Egon." Peter says. "Did I mention they have great ears?" Lady Liberty then kneels down once more to pick up her tablet. When she stands up, she takes a quick breath to prepare herself and turns toward StayPuft who is still walking away.

Lady Liberty grabs two ends of her tablet, takes a defensive stance, and whistles loudly to get her targets attention. Peter and any living creature nearby had to cover their ears due to the volume. The whistle worked, causing StayPuft to slowly turn around. His thick legs made it difficult for him to turn quickly.

StayPuft is almost fully facing Lady Liberty when she makes her move. Thunderous footsteps are heard as she runs straight at him, raises her tablet into the air, and slams it loudly into the side of StayPuft's head. It works effectively as he flies off to his side. He roars loudly as he rolls off a building and straight into the street.

Without giving him any time to get up, she is on him again. Ms. Liberty starts kicking him in the side while bringing the bottom edge of her table down on his face and chest. StayPuft tries to block, but he just does not have the speed.

This goes on for nearly half a minute before StayPuft is able to grab a hold of one of her ankles and trip her. Lady Liberty falls on her butt hard. They both gesture as if to stand back up, but StayPuft, noticing her speed, chooses to push off the ground and do a rolling slam into her. This knocks her down once more and buys StayPuft the time he needs to get up.

As they both stand up, Lady Liberty takes a charging position and runs her crown spikes into where his ribs would be. StayPuft roars in anger as he tries to grab hold of her but can't. She places both of her hands on his waste and manages to lift him up flailing into the air, impaled on her crown.

Lady Liberty is clearly having a little trouble maintaining balance, but it doesn't stop her from performing her next move. She places her hands firmly onto his belly and with a strained push, begins to slide StayPuft off her head, cutting him wide open in the process. He roars loudly once again.

As the spikes on her crown reach his head his roar starts to garble then go silent when they tear through what's left of his face and she tosses him half a block away from her. Without hesitation, she rushes in and starts stomping on the mess that was once his head. She can't see too well because his hat is now dangling from her crown. StayPuft is having trouble controlling his arms because they're mostly severed now.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Peter cheers as she continues to pummel the large marshmallow.

"Peter, I don't think this fight is their main goal." Egon tries to interrupt him.

"Of course not. Who wants to lose to the new love of my life!" Peter responds. "You're beautiful, girl! You've got this."

"No Peter, I need you to see this." Egon interrupts his cheering again. Reluctant to look away Peter starts walking toward Egon. When he finally does look away Egon has already exited the building.

"Egon! Where are you going? The show is over there." Peter protests pointing at the fight.

"Peter, I think this fight is a distraction, or at least StayPuft was supposed to be."

"What do you mean? A distraction from what? He's the Destroyer, he's doing his job."

"Peter, look." Egon points to a street filled with ghosts carrying different things and several vehicles moving in the same direction.

"What are they doing? Where are they taking all that stuff?"

"They seem to be searching for metal." Egon answers and points at the Statue of Liberty's torch. There are several large spirits trying to pull it, unsuccessfully.

"Metal? What do they need metal for?"

"We'd better follow them." Egon states. They hear screaming, and look to see an upturned bus full of people is being carried through the air toward the stream of hoarding spirits.

"Looks like they're not only just collecting metal." Peter confirms.

"They must be taking them to the source of all this." Egon adds.

Peter adjusts the dirty Proton pack and does his best to clean off the nozzle once more. "OK. I don't know how both of us can get close enough to see what they're up to." Before he can protest anymore, there is a loud crash as Lady Liberty lands on her back and comes sliding in their direction.

"That was close!" Peter states and looks up to see StayPuft Towering nearby. He has mostly healed and what little is left of the damage is closing up fast. Lady Liberty is trying to get up, and StayPuft is approaching fast.

"Hey gorgeous!" Peter calls out. She actually looks toward him. "Use that!" She turns to see what he is pointing at. Lady Liberty reaches above her head just as StayPuft begins to charge. He jumps into the air to body slam her just as her torch lights up in a wild blaze. She points it straight up and manages to get it between them just as StayPuft bears down on her.

StayPuft seems to scream in pain as his torso ignites. The combination of his weight and Lady Liberties strength cause the torch to impale him. He is melting quickly. With a shove, she manages to push him off her. The torch continues to stay in his body and he can't seem to reach the end to pull it out. He continues to flail wildly, but is having no success getting up.

"Oh my God, I love you! Will you marry me?" Peter shouts as Lady Liberty gets up to her feet. She actually turns her head to take a look at him and winks.

Egon, looking legitimately impressed, takes a moment to admire their victory. "That ought to hold him for a while." He tells Peter. "We really should get going."

"Right!" Peter replies. They both turn away and start running toward the stream of spirits. They don't get too far before Peter is huffing loudly. "I don't think I have enough energy to make it to the end of the block. Especially carrying this." He shakes the proton pack.

Egon floats back toward Peter with a concerned face. "We'll have to find a way to see where they're going."

Peter takes a moment to catch his breath before standing up straight. "I think I have an idea." He turns back toward the statue of liberty. "Hey beautiful, can we get a lift?
