Author Note: Hey all I'm glad to see that my story was about to garner your attention. It's quite flattering really. Since I'm here right now, I'll tell you guys not to expect chapters to come quickly. I down own a computer or laptop so I have to type these chapters up on my phone which can be rather annoying at times. I also wait about 2-3 days before I start writing so I can see what you guys think about the chapter.

-Line break-

She continues to walk through the slums almost absentmindedly. It isn't until she notices the locals looking at her strangely or just straight up flinching away from her that she realizes that she still has that look on her face from earlier.

Inwardly she is glad that she noticed now instead of completely spoiling her reunion with her beloved. She goes over to one of the abandoned houses and looks at one of its windows to see her face. She still has the wide grin on her face with her cheeks flushed like a schoolgirl.

Elsa puts a hand on her heart to calm herself down and starts fixing up her face because she wants to make the best first impression possible. She couldn't afford to miss this part up. It takes her some time to calm down and stop her heart from beating out of her chest. She couldn't blame herself for this kind of reaction because for her this was a chance for her to start off on the right foot.

That thought made her blink.

"How exactly do I start off on the right foot?" She asked herself honestly. Now that was a good question. She knew about the dos and don'ts but those were simply the bare minimum for him just to tolerate her.

Elsa's heartbeat quickens again and her chest tightens with anxiety. She hadn't really thought that far. In her short time being sent back, she was on the initial high of being able to meet Subaru once more.

It just slipped her mind that he, you know, hated her.

It also dawned on her that he could hate her for something she did before this. If that was the case then she would be in the same position as before. Just a useful weapon that he would rather get rid of.

Her face falls.

That was a depressing thought. On the bright side, that would be much better than not being able to see him at all. If she were to go without Subaru she would probably revert to her former self. She would be simply existing, not living like she was with him around.

She claps her hands against her cheeks and strengthens her resolve. Even if that was the case she would do it cause any contact would be better than none at all. If she were to be his weapon once more it would be perfectly fine!

'Perfectly fine…yes it would be perfectly fine.' Elsa's face betrays her thoughts. In her heart, she knows she wants to be more than that.

She starts making her way to the loot house with her mood dampened. On top of that, all that time she wasted to look proper made her behind on time.

As Elsa's walking, she thinks about the options she has. She could let everything play out as it did before, or just go straight through the escape route and meet Subaru right away? He somehow knew she would be there so it was likely that he would still be there.

Would that be the right choice though? The entire reason that he had kept her around was that she was an effective killer so her just abandoning the contract probably would rub him the wrong way. The worst thing that could happen is that he wouldn't want anything to do with her. She wanted to avoid that outcome at all costs, so she decided to repeat what she did in the past minus the gut ripping.

After some time the loot house is finally in sight but then something strange happens. Its front door flies open and a blonde-haired girl comes sprinting out like her life depends on it. Because of the direction, she was approaching, she wasn't able to see Elsa. However, Elsa recognizes her and wonders what is going on because this wasn't supposed to happen.

Did she mess up because she was late?

Whatever the case was she needed to know what was happening there. Once she gets within earshot of the place she hears the sounds of a battle inside and sees flashes of light indicating magic was being fired off. She picks up her speed and is able to peek through the doorway. The light breaching from the open doorway falls on the kneeling form of Natsuki Subaru using a club for support. Before she could even question it, she saw a figure standing over him with a blade held high over their head ready to end Subaru's life.

Suddenly Elsa sees red.

Without thinking she charges into the room with an inhuman level and swings her white kukri at the back of Subaru's attacker. Unfortunately for her, the figure is elusive and is able to move somewhat out of the way before the full damage is dealt. Elsa was able to slash at her opponent's back dealing a decent amount of damage but instead of retreating, they spin around and swing their blade at Elsa.

Elsa blocks the attack and sparks fly at the point where their blades meet. The brief flashlights up her opponent's face and causes her eyes to widen in surprise.

Long black hair.

Drooping purple eyes.

An amused grin…

Elsa Granhiert the former bowel hunter was staring straight into the face of Elsa Granhiert the current bowel hunter.

They separate and stand facing each other. One in front of Natsuki Subaru in a protective manner and the other stands on the opposite side of the room.

"Ah, in all my time doing these contracts I didn't ever expect that I would get the chance to battle myself. However, I wonder why did you protect that boy over there? Do you perhaps want to save his bowels for yourself?" The bowel hunter's lips twisted into a creepy smirk.

"Not interested. The very thought of bringing harm upon Subaru-sama makes me sick." Elsa said with a glare.

"Subaru-sama? Oh ho~ your attachment to him makes me want to see what is beautiful color his guts will be when I cut him open." The bowl hunter licks her lips after she finishes the last sentence.

"Disgusting!" She understood why Subaru hated when she did that.

The bowl hunter charges at Elsa with both of her black kukris in hand. Elsa is forced to go on the defensive because she lacked a second weapon.

"Woah, a mirror match! What kind of flag did I raise for this event to happen?" Subaru said as he watched the two identical figures clash. It becomes clear that there she was definitely toying with them because she picked it up a notch in her fight with her doppelganger.

Emilia has an icicle ready to fire it off but decides not to because it becomes apparent that the other lady doesn't need covering fire like Subaru. If she decided to fire it off she might end up hitting the wrong person with how fiercely they were fighting. So she makes the icicle vanish and goes over to the Rom's injured form and starts healing him.

"Do you know that woman?" Emilia questions.

Subaru shakes his head not wanting to take his eyes off the battle unfolding before him. He supposed he was wrong about calling this fight a mirror match because it was more like selecting a character's second phase and pitching them against their previous one.

The one that came to his aid had a way of fighting that seemed almost graceful while the other looked to be that of a hungry animal. As they continued to battle, it became apparent who was winning. The battle manic was receiving damage after every exchange while the other was not.

As Elsa continues to battle her other self she realizes how working under Subaru made her a far better assassin than was before. Because she no longer cared about cutting into her opponent's guts to watch them spill out she instead struck with the intent to kill and debilitate her enemies with every strike. With this new mentality, she executed her beloved's will with brutal efficiency. On top of just being a better assassin, she already knew how this version of her would attack so it just made it all that much easier for her. So easy that she could probably do this with her eyes closed if she wanted to.

The bowel hunter swings her blade with the intent to disembowel her other self, but she avoids the slash effortlessly. The bowel hunter smirks and goes to use her signature backswing with her other blade.

Unfortunately for her, Elsa is able to read her like a book and throws in a counter attack of her own. Elsa swings her blade just as the bowel hunter does and her white kukri does its job. Her left arm is cut clean off but the blade doesn't stop there. The blade doesn't stop there and cuts deeply into the bowels hunter's chest before she can back away.

"A critical hit!" Subaru shouts. Victory is in sight and he can't hold back his joy.

"That blade is definitely the real thing. So aren't just a half baked fake after all, how interesting." Despite her wounds, she can talk like she is completely fine which worried Subaru. As she speaks Subaru notices that the bleeding from her chest stops and sees the skin and muscle start stitching itself back together.

Both Emilia and Subaru stare at this with a look of unadulterated horror on their faces as she regenerated before them.

Elsa doesn't reply to her other self and wants to go on the offensive now that her other self is missing an arm. However just as she begins to move she hears a familiar voice.

"That's enough."

Part of the loot house ceiling collapses and dust fills the air. When it clears the form of Reinhard Van Astrea is standing in the center of the room. He sees the two identical women. One is covered in blood and is missing her left arm while the other doesn't have a single wound on her.

Reinhard is obviously confused at why there are two bowel hunters but Subaru speaks up before he decides to attack both of them.

"Reinhard don't worry about that one! The true enemy is right there!" He said while pointing at the visibly injured one.

The bowel hunter realizes that she has no chance of winning this and doesn't want to be killed or captured today. She starts moving back towards a window.

"Make sure you keep that boy's guts safe for me, my doppelganger." The bowel hunter grins sadistically before leaping backward into a window for escape.

Reinhard runs to the broken window but doesn't see any sign of her.

"It looks like she escaped," Reinhard calls out to the group.

It is quiet for a moment.

'Well so much for a good first impression…' Now that Subaru's seen her creepy ass other self he probably doesn't want anything to do with her. In retrospect what exactly was he doing here and why didn't he use that strange invisible power of his instead of that club?

Subaru is slightly worried but is still happy just to not have to go through another loop. Now that the immediate threat was gone he could address the elephant in the room.

"So miss uhh who exactly are you?" Subaru asks nervously. Elsa hears him and is surprised that he wants to talk to her.

She turns to him and gives a gentle smile.

"My name is Elsa Granhiert." Subaru doesn't feel the need to flinch away from her attention and is confused as to why he isn't. He realizes despite looking like the original, this one seems to give off genuine emotion instead of looking like a creepy doll.

"So this is what it's like when her beauty doesn't go to waste..." Elsa feels her face heat up when he says that.

Reinhard looks at her suspiciously.

"Elsa Granhiert? It's one thing to share her name but to look exactly like her and wear the same clothes is very suspicious. Because of this, I think I have to take you for questioning."

"Hold it, hold it! You can't do that Reinhard, she saved our lives!" Subaru shouts at Reinhard.

"As someone who is constantly discriminated against because of the fact that I'm a half-elf, I have to agree with Subaru." Emilia knows how it is to be treated unfairly just because of your looks so she speaks out.

"I guess she did go out of her way to save your lives and since I'm off duty I'll let it slide this time." Reinhard relents with a sigh.

Meanwhile, while they are having this conversation Felt who was waiting outside decides to take a peek in because there have been no sounds of fighting.

"What the hell! Why is she still here Reinhard?!" Felt shouts both with fear and surprise on her face.

"It's okay Felt. This right here is Elsa's doppelganger. Where I come from a doppelganger is someone's evil twin but since Elsa was already evil, that makes her doppelganger good." Subaru tries to ease her worries but fails miserably.

"What if she's even eviler?!"

Luckily for Subaru, the old giant that Emilia healed has something to say.

"Ugh, can you guys shut up? I was just havin' a good nap." The giant said before propping himself against a wall.

"Old man Rom!" Felt rushes to his side and hugs him. Subaru feels his heart warm up at the sight. So this is the happy ending he was working for.

"Sir, you shouldn't be moving around like that." Emilia reprimands the giant with a frown on her face.

The giant waves her off before he starts talking to Felt.

"Hey, Felt why don't you give that kind young lady her insignia back?"

Felt almost forgot that she had it still. Considering that she saved old man Rom, it was only fair that she would repay the debt.

"I'm sorry that I stole your insignia, but when you leave it out like that it's just too easy." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out the insignia and it's glowing.

Reinhard notices it and grabs on to her wrist and looks at the stone in disbelief.

"That hurts! Let go jerk!" Rom sees this and starts trying to get up but is quickly stopped when Reinhard puts his hand in front of his face and manipulates his mana. This causes the old giant to fall unconscious immediately.

"Rom! Y-you asshole let me go-" Before she can finish her sentence Reinhard does the same thing to her.

"What's this about Reinhard? Is this because of the insignia? If so could you just overlook it? She was giving it back to me anyway." Emilia looks at Reinhard nervously.

"I'm sorry but I can't comply with that request. Unfortunately, the crime happening before me is far more severe than your insignia incident. Because of this, I'll be taking Felt with me." Reinhard said while picking her up bridal style. Emilia looks worried but doesn't say anything else. Reinhard leaves in a hurry without saying anything else.

Emilia looks at both Subaru and Elsa before bowing.

"I'd like to thank you both for saving me and getting my insignia back. However, I don't have anything on me to properly compensate you." Emilia apologizes.

"Actually there is something you could give me." Subaru puts a hand on his chin smugly.

"Wait where are my manners? I've yet to introduce myself." Subaru fake coughs into his hand before striking a pose. Elsa can't stop herself from giggling at the sight but is confused nonetheless. She really wasn't sure why he was acting like this.

"My name is Natsuki Subaru! I'm the one who saved your life from the heinous villain and helped you get your insignia back! Are we okay with that?" Elsa knows she was the one to save their lives but doesn't comment on it so her beloved's nefarious plan could be put to fruition.

"Okay?" Emilia tilts her head in confusion at the term.

"It basically means 'Are we clear on that?' so...Okay?" The boy forms the letter 'O' followed by a 'K' with his body.

"Okay…"

"I, your rescuer, saved your life. And you are the heroine I saved! So it's only natural that you should repay me in kind right?"

"Alright, I got it! Only if it's within my power, of course."

"In that case, I have only one request!" He nods to himself with a smug look on his face.

"My one request is…" Emilia looks at him anxiously.

'Here it comes…' Elsa thinks to herself.

He flashes the half-elf a grin before snapping his fingers.

"Tell me your name."

'What…?' Whatever Elsa thought he was going to say obviously wasn't this. This seemed a little short-sighted to her but perhaps she wasn't smart enough to understand his motives.

The half-elf laughs genuinely.

"I'm Emilia. Just Emilia. Thank you, Subaru. For saving me." She offers her hand to him. He pauses for a moment before accepting it.

"Geez, talk about unequal compensation." Subaru half-heartedly before accepting it.

Right after that Subaru scratches the back of his head nervously with a derpy look on his face.

"Haha umm, if possible I would like to ask for another thing."

"What is it?" Her smile hadn't faded from his last request and because of the nature of it, she was no longer on guard. To her, Subaru's character was not up for question anymore.

"I am broke beyond repair and have nowhere to stay or go. I would greatly appreciate it if you could…"

"Sure." Emilia knew where he was going with that last sentence and agreed immediately.

"Just like that!" Subaru said in shock.

"My benefactor owns a mansion and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to give my saviors a place stay."

"Saviors?" Elsa finally says something.

Subaru looks over at her. She was so quiet during this ordeal that he almost forgot that she was here.

Emilia giggles and faces Elsa.

"Yes, saviors." This made things less complicated.

"I'll take you up on that offer. Because I share the same face with that assassin, I wouldn't last long out here on my own."

After they were finished talking Emilia led them out of the slums. Later they ran into a pink-haired maid named Ram. Apparently, the maid came here with Emilia but Emilia wandered off. Shortly after she had wandered off her insignia got swiped by Felt which led them to this predicament.

Emilia explained everything that happened to the maid and not too long afterward they found themselves in a carriage headed to Emilia's place. Emilia and Ram sat up in front while Subaru and Elsa were in the back of the carriage. Elsa naturally sat next to Subaru.

She noticed that he didn't particularly mind that she was there so she decided to test the waters. She looks down at Subaru's hands and slowly but surely moves her towards his.

"E-Elsa?" Subaru sounds surprised. So far so good.

"Is something wrong Subaru-sama?" She looks straight into his eyes. She doesn't see the calculating and hateful gaze she was used to seeing for so long. Instead, she sees openly curious eyes that have looks of naivety and carries no ulterior motives.

Something in her mind clicked.

She wasn't sent into the past but sent to another world not too dissimilar to the one she came from. So that's why there was another version of herself here and it was also the reason why Subaru was so strange.

Not that she minded it. If he was the same as his other self then he would have snapped her wrist the moment she had touched his hand.

"Again with that 'Subaru-sama' stuff! Now that I think about it, how did you know my name before I introduced myself?"

"Hmm let's just say I'm not from here…" Subaru looks like he comes to a realization.

"Like...not from this world?" Subaru's voice is just barely over that of a whisper.

Elsa, surprised by his deduction, merely nods.

"Well, it looks like we are in the same boat. You see, I to was summoned to this world. Wait a moment, that still doesn't explain how you knew my name." Subaru points out.

"In the world, I came from I worked for you."

Subaru's eyes widened.

"Really?"

"Really."

Again he further differentiated himself from the Subaru from her world by immediately believing her. He was too naive. This world would definitely eat him up. Unfortunately, the world wouldn't get the chance because she was here.

He smiles before laughing. Elsa feels her heart skip a beat. That was a smile that she wanted to protect.

"It's good to know that I'm not alone in this unfamiliar place." Subaru leans back before looking up hopefully. He was just happy not to be forced to use Return by Death once more.

Subaru feels Elsa shift her weight on to his arm.

"H-hey what the hell Elsa?" He feels her soft breasts pressed up against his arm which causes his virgin heart to start beating erratically in his chest.

"It's late and I'm tired." She says with her cheeks flushed.

"You liar, you don't even sound tired!" He calls her out but makes no real move to push her off.

Seeing this, Elsa grins mischievously before pressing further.

"My name is Elsa Granhiert. I am the one who saved your life from that heinous villain-"

"Hey, no stealing my speeches! You really did save me from a horrible fate so what is your request?" Subaru interrupted her.

She leans closer to him and traces his chest seductively with her pointer finger.

"Close your eyes."

Subaru's lips twitched nervously but he followed through anyway.

"Why do I need my eyes closed?"

He feels her body heat get closer and her warm breath against his skin.

"It's a secret~."

"A secret? Like a gift? I thought that I suppose to be giving you some-"

He is silenced when Elsa presses her lips against his.

-Chapter end-

Author Note: I've got someone that I can shoot ideas around with but I'm still open for a beta if any of you guys are interested. If any of you guys are confused by Subaru's actions remember that he's strangely forgiving to the point that it's unnerving. Remember when the witch of pride nearly ended him by shattering his existence? If Minerva didn't restore him even he wouldn't have been able to come back from that. His soul would have kept crumbling until nothing remained of him yet he completely shrugged it off and doesn't even hold a grudge. On top of this Elsa isn't the same Elsa(lol) that killed him two times but the one who he believes saved him from a horrible fate.
