Oh, me

The door cracked open and the green eyed bass player entered his apartment. As he closed the door behind him, he reached into his pocket and yanked out his phone. The screen on the device lit up and displayed the current time.

3:45 AM

Trowa sighed, disappointed in himself for staying out late. But Duo wasn't the type to let people leave his company too soon, not caring for a second that Heero wanted all of them to meet up early and rehearse one more time before the start of their tour at Barge tomorrow night. Oh well, it's not like this would be the first time any of them would be showing up to jam without the proper amount of sleep.

He turned on the lights to his living room and approached his stereo. Trowa knew damn well that he should be heading straight for bed and knocking out, but unfortunately he didn't plan on returning home this late and now he was wired. And when he was up and active, it took a lot for him to go to sleep.

So, he decided to play the CD that was already set for another spin. He turned on his speakers and hit play, adjusting the volume as to not wake up his fellow tenants. He skipped ahead a few tracks and landed on his favorite song on the record; a track that never failed to put him in a contemplative mood. Trowa shuffled his way towards his couch and grabbed the bass that was resting on top; opting to join the band by adding a second bassist. His fingers pulling away at the thick strings on his primary instrument of choice.

If I had to lose a mile

If I had to touch feelings

I would lose my soul

The way I do

With the faintest of smiles on his face, Trowa sang along to the words he already knew so well. He had a pretty damn good voice, if he did say so himself. If this band ever did break up, and Trowa had a feeling that this band eventually would, then he figured he'd go on and front his own band for a change instead of playing for someone else. Not that he didn't like playing for Heero, he quite enjoyed it actually. Unlike a lot of bands he played with in the past, Heero knew exactly what he wanted. He had a mission and he would complete it no matter what.

Trowa always respected that about him.

In other bands the question was always 'What're we doing?'

In this band, Heero always said 'So this is what we're doing.'

I don't have to think

I only have to do it

The results are always perfect

But that's old news

His mind wandered over to the band that would be joining them on this tour, his fingers never missing a note on the slowly paced song emanating from his sound system. Trowa had to wonder if the new blonde to join The Jezebels was ready to tour. This was quite a big step for someone who never played shows like this before. But, then again, that's what playing music independently was all about. You just do it. That's what he did after all. Playing numerous house parties, abandoned buildings and working his way to clubs before finally ending up with Do You Remember?

He was sure Relena Peacecraft would be just fine.

He hoped anyway.

Would you like to hear my voice

Sprinkled with emotion

I invented at your birth

He also hoped that eventually Heero and Relena would patch things up soon. He couldn't imagine what a whole tour would look like with those two hating each other the entire time, and it didn't look like things were getting better either. Heero even appeared to be actively avoiding the blonde now. That certainly wasn't a good sign.

The 'chorus' to the song came on and he made sure to sing along with every word before he proceeded with his thoughts.

I can't see the end of me

My whole expanse I cannot see

I formulate infinity

And store it deep inside me

Playing along to an instrumental segment of the song, he recalled a funny moment a few days ago when Dorothy half-jokingly mentioned pursuing Relena romantically. He was sort of taken aback by that comment but the more he thought about it, why not? She was incredibly beautiful and he'd been single for a little while now, which Dorothy would wonder how that was humanly possible when he was so 'gorgeous' as she put it. He had to hold back a laugh on that one.

Maybe he would pursue something, he thought. Maybe it was time to make an attempt at dating again. He'd get all the time in the world to be with her and it didn't seem like Relena would get things settled with Heero anytime soon. No need to worry about losing out to the handsome frontman, he joked internally.

Alright, maybe he'll go for it.

The chorus came back around and this time the song exploded into a much louder tone. Of course, Trowa sang along once more with the almost whiny tone of the unique singer.

I can't see! the end of me!

My whole expanse I cannot see!

I formulate infinity

And store it deep inside me

Trowa heard some knocking coming from his floor. 'Whoops!' he thought. He guessed he didn't turn it down low enough. He chuckled and got up to quickly turn the volume lower, with the song entering the home stretch with an extended instrumental jam. He had to remember to apologize to his neighbor tomorrow.

He dropped his bass beside his stereo and took a few careful steps towards his window. He opened up the curtain to see quiet city streets. They always looked so peaceful, if a little lonely at night. Such a weird thing to think, he thought. Maybe the alcohol that had him a tad bit tipsy was screwing with him. He had to learn to just say no to Duo.

From there his vision switched to the dark, expansive night sky. The stars were out in all their glory, shimmering up there like lights reflecting off the darkest of waters. It was honestly quite beautiful, he had to admit. As strange as it was to think, he had to remind himself to appreciate some of nature's more magnificent traits.

His mind began to delve deeper into even more abstract thoughts, wondering to himself if there was anything up there. And he wasn't talking about space, either. He truly wondered to himself if there was anything up there.

Trowa Barton never considered himself a religious or spiritual person, but that didn't mean he couldn't question things. And the sky was just way too enormous to not make him question.

Just… what the hell is up there anyway?

Well, he sighed, now wasn't the time for such philosophical thinking. It was time to fall asleep, or at least attempt to. After finishing the rest of the record, of course.

He gave the sky one last look and tossed it a smile.

Maybe one day he'll find out.

I formulate infinity

And store it deep inside me...
