Prologue

"Sho! Hurry up, and we are going now!"

"Yes, Grandma! I'm coming!"

Sho was outside of the cottage, on the lawn, reminiscing the memories he had with his dear friend Arrietty.

"Arrietty, I know we will meet soon. I just have a good feeling." Sho silently said like Arrietty was there to listen. After his eyes were tired of visualizing the lawn of the house, where a lot of memories happened, Sho finally went to where his grandmother was waiting, outside of the property.

Haru, who was their house's caretaker and who happened to imprisoned Arrietty's mother in a jar, was also there to assist Sho and his grandmother with their luggage.

"Haru-san, I'll leave the house to you again."

"Yes ma'am, I'll take care of everything here. No worries."

"Great. We'll be leaving then."

"Sure. Have a safe trip ma'am, Sho-san." Haru smiled at Sho.

"Thank you Haru-san." Sho responded.

Sho and his grandmother then went on and waved goodbye to Haru while they were on the car. It will be a long journey back to the city, and Sho will either sleep along the way or will continue thinking about Arrietty and their memories.

On the other hand...

"Thank you Sho. I will miss you."

Arrietty said in the air while getting a little teary. They were still traveling on the canal leading to where they will be moving. She was still sitting on the surface of the kettle that serves as their boat. Spiller, who was driving the kettle, noticed Arrietty's sadness. He then gave Arrietty a fruit to eat. Arrietty then was surprised but accepted the fruit.

"Thank you Spiller."

Spiller, as his usual nature who is a man of few words and acts like a tribe man, just grinned at her. Arrietty just smiled at him and released a deep sigh.

"Is that your human friend?" Spiller finally spoke.

Arrietty again was surprised by the sudden question but still answered.

"Yes."

"You shouldn't make friends with them. They are dangerous."

Arrietty felt Spiller's strong anger towards humans, but she can't blame him. They were generally a threat to their species.

"Not all of them are bad. Some..."

"Regardless. Human beings are still a threat to us. I already saw some of my friends gone and died because of them. You can't trust them. They are traitors."

"I beg to disagree!" Arrietty now feels that she must defend Sho.

Spiller, on the other hand, was shocked by her reaction, but his opinion still doesn't change.

"Sho helped me when I was in danger, and he helped me saved mother." Arrietty is now calm.

Spiller just looked at Arrietty with a challenging stare but did not bother arguing with her anymore. He then left Arrietty and continued driving the kettle.

Arrietty, on the other hand, just felt sad again.

"Arrietty! Please come down here!" Her mom called her.

"Yes mom!"

Before Arrietty went down inside the kettle, she glanced at Spiller's back. She has no idea that Spiller at that moment was hurting. He was jealous of Sho, a human boy - not even their kind.
