A/N: Prompt 26: W. Y. Traveller: Snowflake
A drabble, set during the hiatus.
Snowflake
He scans the shelf,
Files written in
Familiar hand;
And soon locates
Holmes' microscope;
Excursion planned.
~0~
Painstakingly,
He wraps it up
And leaves the room;
Determined to
Keep occupied,
Dispel the gloom.
~0~
The park,
A favourite bench,
The surface white
With frost.
He'll study
What is here and now,
Not
What was lost.
~0~
Snow caught,
Mid-fall,
And placed
On felted slide with care.
He views two unique
Snowflakes;
Unmatched
Anywhere.
~0~
The first has softened
Margins;
Graceful shapes,
Combined.
The other, sparse,
Eccentric,
Sharper points
Defined.
~0~
One breath, and in an instant,
Snowflakes disappear.
He sighs;
Ahead,
Alas,
Another lonely year.
