The blue sky shined, the birds chirped, children laughed as they played, parents rushed to keep a sharp eye. Everything and everyone was safe and sound.

Keith smiles as he watched over the city, their city. Himself being second in command of the great heroes.

The Paladins.

Their leader and commander was Shiro, known as the black Paladin, next came Hunk, the yellow Paladin and lastly Pidge, the green Paladin.

The four Paladins of team Voltron, each equipped with a weapon bayard and super powers.

Shiro held teleportation, anywhere he has been before, he can be in the blink of an eye.

Hunk held the power of the wind, often using said gift to waft the freshly made scent of his concoctions throughout their base.

Pidge held telekinesis, anything was fair game to her mind.

And Keith? The half human half Galra held purple fire, a flame that could burn so hot and fast, enemies never saw it coming.

The one thing they all shared though, was a weakness. Each member held the very same one.

His name is Lance McClain, a regular human boy that had stolen the groups heart and soul when he'd walked into their lives one fateful day.

Who knew rescuing a young girl from an irate cow would have spiraled into meeting his perfect match?

Lance was Keith's everything, he was Hunk's self proclaimed hermano, Pidge's big brother and another child figure for Shiro to nurture.

The pair had been dating for less than a year, but Keith couldn't imagine life without his love. Which is why the team made the executive decision to keep their identities a secret.

If Lance knew, he'd be in constant danger. The Cuban would remain protected, even at the expense of lying to him.

Keith's smile began to falter, remembering all the lies he'd had to make up, some on the very spot. It broke his heart every time he saw Lance's pain.

It was high time he start making it up to the boy. Removing his cellphone, Keith presses speed dial 1

The phone rang for several seconds before the familiar voice answered "Couldn't wait five minutes for me, Keithy?"

Keith frowns in confusion and thought "What are you talking about, babe?"

Lance chuckles "Very funny, as if you don't know. You texted me to meet you, remember?"

Keith froze "Lance, listen to me, get out of wherever you are, now."

"What? Why? Aren't you on your way?" Speaks a now nervous Lance

Keith propelling down the building in a dead run, internally grateful Pidge convinced him into placing a tracker on Lance's hoodie "Those messages weren't from me, get out of there!"

"Ok, this really isn't funny," Lance stiffened, but obeyed, the brunette slowly backing away, only to be stopped by a solid object. Blue eyes rising to meet the smirking face of Lotor.

"Ah, Lance McClain! Just the person I was looking for."

Listening in, Keith growled, Lotor, the biggest supervillain in the city, the one man the Paladins hadn't ever defeated was with Lance "Babe, run!"

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Acting rashly, Lance kicked backwards, nailing the silver haired villain in his shin.

Only instead a pained grunt, the mad man cackled "Oh, you're going be so much fun!"

Lance shook in sheer panic "Stay the hell away from me! How do you even know me?"

Lotor smirks "Thanks to a certain little bird, I know everything about you. Your name, education, career, family, but what interests me ... Is your relationship."

Lance's eyes narrow "Don't even think about touching Keith!"

Lotor's smirk never wavered, the man whisking his arms through the air, dark purple tendrils emerging from his fingertips.

"Don't you dare hurt him, Lotor!" Screams Keith, checking his tracker, he's only five minutes away "I'm almost there, I'm coming Lance!"

Lotor leaves one hand leveled at the Cuban brunette, the other rising to his right ear, pressing a single button "Don't you worry, Keith, I'll take good care of your little boyfriend."

Keith's purple eyes widen as Lance's shriek causes his blood to run cold "Let him go! Leave him alone!"

Lance screamed, teen fighting to escape the tendrils that shot straight at him, entailing his wrists and ankles, ripping his brown jacket clean off in the process "No, someone help!"

Lance falls to the ground as his balance is lost. The strands tighten, now reeling the struggling catch in "Let me go! Keith!"

"Scream all you like," mocks Lotor, the man now grasping Lance in his arms "We'll be long gone once the hero arrives."

Steps falter, Keith trips as the realization hits. Lotor knew, he knew Keith's identity, probably the whole teams! He knew about Lance, how much he meant to them all.

Lotor's earlier words played back, he'd spoke of a little bird giving him information.

Someone had betrayed him.

"The Paladins will save me!" Declares a still struggling Lance "You won't get away with this!"

Lotor smiles, grabbing hold of the brunettes strong chin.

Lance glares spitefully "You hear me? The Paladins will come for me!"

"That's precisely what I'm counting on," whispers Lotor wickedly, fingers pressing deeply into the pressure point on the brunettes neck. Rendering the young man unconscious "And Keith? If you ever want to see the boy alive again, you'll meet me alone."

Lotor's hand smacks Lance's right cheek "You really have kept everything secret from him? All in an effort to protect the boy, how pitiful."

Keith growls as Lotor mocks him "Leave him alone, Lotor! Lance isn't a part of this! I'll do whatever you want, just let him go."

"And what I want is to meet up in let's say, an hour or so. Just you, me and pretty boy here."

Keith now starts to panic, purple eyes seeing the now fleeing pair as Lotor takes off with Lance crumpled in his arms "NO, LANCE!"

A frazzled Keith falls to his knees, hands tugging at this dark locks of hair "How the hell did this happen? Who could have done this?"

Normally he'd be calling in the Calvary, but if Lotor was telling the truth then "Relying on the team is no longer an option."

Only without them, Keith stood no chance of finding Lance until Lotor wanted him to. "Damn it! Lance, Lance!"

There's chapter one of one of my current works in progress.
