Author's note:

Hello my fellow readers! First of all I want to say thank you in advance for reading my first shot at a Crash Bandicoot Fanfic (and my very first Fanfic too), be free to leave a review and I'll be reading your suggestions for future chapters. This first one is going to be long, so I hope you enjoy! :)

Two years have passed since the defeat of Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nefarious Tropy, again thanks to Crash Bandicoot and his friends. Nothing was heard from them again since then and the world was finally having some peace and quiet... Until now.

An old legend says, in the ruins of a temple well hidden in one of the Wumpa Islands, there were five colored 'energy gems' . These bright and oddly-shaped gems were able to grant unique and special abilities to the ones who had them, but these were never found and therefore, their existence never proven true. The legend also says that there was a cruel demon, known as 'the Lord of the Shadows', who caused destruction and despair to the world, with the help of his dark influence and his own army. No one seemed to succeed to stop such evil, but suddenly, an unknown hero appeared with these gems on his power, and with an outstanding bravery and determination, was able to defeat the demon and his army, capturing them in the process and sealing them out of this world. There was peace from then on, but such peace was coming to an abrupt end soon.

It was 8 in the morning of a saturday, the sunrise tinted the beautiful scene of Venice beach of a reddish orange, as the waves clashed with the sand and the Santa Monica pier's wooden beams. Some shops were opening their doors to the public and some people were already at the beach, walking on the pier minding their own or just sitting by a bench looking at the sea.

A blonde and tall bandicoot girl was jogging through the beach, wearing a blue sports jacket, a white sports bra, black leggings and white and blue running shoes. It was Isabella, just doing her regular jog around the beach to keep herself in shape while listening to her favourite tunes with her headphones on.

It's been two years since the Nitro Squad, the kart racing team she took part of along four of her best friends, was disbanded because of financial and internal problems. From then onwards, she decided to focus on her acting career, gaining a full-time job in Hollywood, thanks to her previous performance in the first Bay Waters's season finale. However, things weren't going that well for the blonde bandicoot. Along with the good reputation, some bad and envyous people got in her way recently, trying to ruin her dreams of becoming a successful actress. Isabella didn't mind at first, but it became an issue when she discovered them trying to ashame her in various gossip TV shows and magazines, making her look like a failure in public.

These thoughts made her blood boil in anger. Why were they so mean towards her? It's not fair at all, especially with her having to deal with being the very first non-human actress in history (which is harder than it seems). But she was taken back to reality when her phone rang.

Isabella: "Bongiorno, who's this?"

Unknown female: "Morning B-day girl, I called to remind you about the interview at 10AM and also wish you a happy birthday! I know you love to lose yourself at the beach, but don't be late to the show, OK?"

Isabella: "You know me well Susan, but I'm never late for work, and thank you sweetie." Smiled the italian bandicoot.

Susan:"I can always count on you. Hey, I'm free today after 5, how about we go for a drink later?"

Isabella: "I would love to, but remember about the party." She sighed.

Susan: "Hey, don't worry about it, I got it all covered. Besides, we will be with you too."

Isabella: "I know Sue, you always got it covered." She laughed, but got a little sad again. "But I wish I could just go for a drink with Liz and you, I need it after what happened this week."

Susan: "Just don't think too much about it, Phoebe always has been a bitch, and you shouldn't let her negativity get into you, you are worth more than that."

Isabella: "I know, I know... But I can't let her throw dirt at me like that either, mostly after all those false declarations she made about me trying to sabotage her part in the show."

Susan: "The press is always hungry for this unnecesary drama, they're assholes too I know, but you will be alright, after all, you have the talent to prove everyone you are something more."

Isabella: "Heh, you are begining to sound like my personal trainer."

Susan: "Doing my best for you. Got to go, Bella, see ya later and remember to smile as always!"

Isabella: "Thank you sweetie, see you later!" As she hung up.

Susan has been a great influence and support for the young actress since they met some years ago. She has always done the best she could for her friend, especially after becoming her manager a couple of months ago, and Isabella could always rely on her. Since that day was the actress's birthday, her manager undoubtfully wanted to set up the party.

The blonde bandicoot continued running until she reached her parked car and checked the time.

Isabella: "Ok, time to work."

It was time to get back to her house at Beverly Hills, so she could have a shower and breakfast before going to the studio for the interview at the gossip show.

Later on, at Malibu, a photoshoot was underway in a photography studio just next to the beach. A young, short-haired brunette bandicoot girl was posing in front of the cameras, wearing a red leather jacket, black leather leggings and dark brown high boots.

Photographer:"That's great. Gimme more of that!"

Liz was the favourite model of many known photographers of this side of California. Not just because of her looks, but for her charisma and natural talent for this job. She has been posing for different magazines (both digital and physical) since her beginnings in the Bandiboy magazine, especially after leaving her former racing team Nitro Squad.

The photographer takes some more pictures of Liz.

Photographer: "A couple more of these... Aaand this will do. Amazing job as always miss Bandicoot, you're a natural, the magazine will love these shots."

Liz: "It's always a pleasure to work with you, Anthoine, and thank you!" As she was leaving the set.

Anthoine:"We will continue with the last two 'shoots by the evening."

Liz: "Say no more. At Santa Monica pier by 4?"

Anthoine: "4PM indeed. See you there and take a break, you deserve it."

Liz went to the dressing room to put on something more comfy, her classic attire, green tank top, dark leggings, purple skirt and the classic purple shoes. She then left the building and walked back to her mansion not too far from the studio.

"I should approach this break to get something for Izzy" she thought as she was getting closer to her place.

The brunette model remebered about Isabella's birthday, and she thought of getting a little gift for her friend and former teammate, so she got into her purple roadster as soon as she reached her mansion and drove to the city center.

At 14PM, on the Interlagos circuit at S?o Paulo, the pre-qualification practice session of the Brazil Grand Prix was about to begin. The fans cheered happily as their favourite racers were about to compete, once more, for the pole position of this race of the season. At the pits, all 10 teams were making final adjustements to their cars, and the drivers getting ready to make their best times.

A certain green-haired bandicoot girl in a white and cyan racing suit was talking with her team manager in the garage's office of the top team, Donner Motorsport.

Manager: "Ami, we all know how well you did the last two seasons, and that's why we hired you this year, but David is no joke, his lap times have been tenths faster tan yours since the beginning of this season, so he will be priority this weekend."

Ami: "This kid just had some luck by his side, that's it. I crushed him during the races and you know it Marc." ...And she was not happy.

Marc: "And that's why we will focus on the tune of his car today, I decided to give him a chance to see how well he does with a better car."

Ami: "I still don't get why I must keep the shitty frontal and rear wings, I will be too damn slow."

Marc: "It's not like that and please watch your language. We care about both our drivers, we are really happy with you, but we have to give David a chance too, we will still tune your car the best we can."

Ami: "Oh come on man, it's not fair. I kept up with the standards of the team and beat every objective you guys wanted me to go for."

Marc: "Look, we appreciate all of your efforts, Ami, and I'm sorry, but this is my final decision. You're out in 10', go get yourself ready and please calm down."

The young driver wanted to protest even more, but instead she got up of her seat and left the office in peace.

"Goddamnit" she mumbled.

She hated last minute changes in the team, but Ami decided to let this one pass. Since the Nitro Squad disbanded, she decided to keep on racing and give it a shot at the Open Wheel World Championship, and after two great seasons, getting a respectable third place last year in a mid-field car, she joined the Donner team this season. She was really good at it and her fans loved it, even if she had some trouble dealing with her crew, thanks to her determined yet tough and hot-minded attitude during the races.

Ami entered the garage and put on her gloves and helmet (customized so she could fit in her ears and snout properly), and got into the car while the crew made final preparations to it. The lead engineer talked to her via radio.

Engineer (radio): "Ok. Radio check."

Ami: "Yes it works, Scott."

Scott (radio): "Tough talk, Ames?"

Ami: "I did my best through this whole season, but Marc will still not give me a break, what a bust."

Scott (radio): "Just drive the same you do as always mate, you'll do it fine enough."

Ami: "Fine enough it's not good for me, especially if this douche gets my well-earned parts."

Scott (radio): "I know how you feel, but it's the boss's word, just keep your head low and do what you do best."

Ami: "I'm gonna teach this kid a lesson, you'll see..."

And with these words, the young driver started her car and revved the engine up a little. One of the engineers got into the pit lane and signaled her to go outside, and she got out of the garage and into the circuit. She was determined to take the pole whatever it costs and prove her manager wrong, so she got ready for it during the practice session.

Meanwhile, at the Eau de 'Coot perfume factory in Paris, a young blue-haired bandicoot girl, wearing a black shirt, black dressing pants, black shoes and a large white coat was on her office watching Ami go through the first corners in her laptop.

She was Megumi, the CEO of the previously mentioned factory, doing her paperwork as she got distracted by her former team-mate's race. Since the team closed it's doors, she directed all her attention on her perfumes, becoming successful and making a big name in the world of fashion. She was also a very rich girl, and also took a part in helping people in need, donating a good part of her earnings for charity.

"I miss you so much, girls..." She sighed.

However, not everything was doing so good for the young scientist, as she didn't just lose her team, but also her friends, and since then she had been feeling really lonely.

The whole team lost contact with each other when the issue about the disband ended with a fight between the girls, resulting in everyone taking different paths. Isabella was the only one who kept contact with two of her former partners, Liz (because they lived pretty close to each other) and Tawna (because she also wanted to keep contact with Crash and Coco, with whom she grew very close with). As for Ami and Megumi, they were on their own.

Unknown male: Excuse me mademoiselle, are you feeling ok?

Her assistant entered her office without the young scientist knowing, taking her off her thoughts.

Megumi: "Oh... Y-yeah I'm ok, Pierre. Don't worry."

Pierre: "Is there something else I can do for you?"

Megumi then looked at her watch. It was 7PM, Pierre's time to go home.

Megumi: "I'm just going to finish my paperwork, thank you. You can leave now." She smiled.

Pierre: "Understood. Have a good weekend patronne."

Megumi: "You too, Pierre."

Megumi's assistant closed the door and left, leaving the blue haired bandicoot in her thoughts again. She then got up her chair and walked towards the bookshelf on her right, while looking at a photo with the Nitro Squad in it, celebrating one of many victories said team achieved during their best days. Megumi felt her eyes watering and decided to exit her office before she got more depressed, and went for a walk around the factory to clear her mind.

It was 3AM at Wumpa Island, home of the world's hero, Crash Bandicoot. Since some years ago, the island was the point of interest of many influences and big industries, wanting to take profit of it's benefits and beautiful sceneries. In a short time, a city was built in the heart of the island, called Wumpa City, and was one of the top tourism places thanks to the big development it had through the years, and also because of being the homeland of said hero. The city had it's own nightlife, with plenty of pubs, casinos, discotheques and many attractions, Wumpa City never slept always offering something to do to it's habitants and visitors.

To the south of the island, where it was still pure nature, a little house was found just next to a beach. The whole place tinted in the blue-ish light of the moon while the waves clashed against the sand and nothing but a breeze rocked the top of the palm trees back and forth, was the perfect place to live, away from all the noise of the concrete jungle.

A blonde bandicoot girl came out of the little house, while wearing denim shorts, red running shoes, a brown leather jacket and a pink t-shirt, with a white outlined mug of Crash, while a familiar floating mask accompanied her.

Tawna: "I'm sorry for annoying you, Aku. But I really needed to go for a walk."

Aku Aku: "It's ok, Tawna. You are part of the family too and I don't mind to help you with whatever you need."

As the blonde bandicoot closed the door and both went for a walk by the beach, Aku Aku noted a slight worry in her face.

Aku Aku: "Is there something wrong?"

Tawna: "I don't even know how to begin." She sighed.

Aku Aku: "You can start from the beggining of the issue."

Tawna: "...you see... It's something to do with me, and to be fair I don't think you can help me with it guys, no offence... It's just, that I think there's something missing in my life."

The witch doctor understood what she meant.

Aku Aku: "It has to do with the girls, right?"

Tawna: "...I think so." She sighed again, while looking at the floating mask.

Aku Aku: "Why don't you try calling them? Explain the-"

Tawna: "No, no, I can't do that. You know what happened between us." She interrupted Aku Aku.

Aku Aku: "You can never know unless you try. They can't be angry forever, and this is something you all will need to solve, sooner or later."

Tawna remained thoughtful.

Aku Aku: "Remember all the good times you passed together, you girls have so much history, even before the team was a thing."

Tawna: "But what am I going to tell them? I can't even think of what to say if I ever see them again, they will never forgive me. I can still remember the dissapointment in their expressions."

Aku Aku stopped in front of her, while looking at her eyes.

Aku Aku: "I can assure you they want the same as you, Tawna. I know you think you have no chance but don't forget they are your family too, and they care about you even if things may not look good now."

Tawna: "To be honest, I don't feel my hopes high right now..."

Aku Aku: "I don't mean to push you my child, but don't forget to listen to your heart. Sometimes it's the right choice"

The blonde bandicoot felt confused.

Tawna:"I-I don't know Aku Aku..."

Aku Aku: "Whatever happens, don't forget we have your back too. We are your family, Tawna, and I know it may be hard sometimes, but your family will never leave you on your own."

She didn't feel very sure about it, but Aku Aku had a point. Even if she wasn't in good terms with her former team, she knows they would have to make amends soon, after all, they were also part of the family.

Tawna: "Can I have some time to think about it?"

Aku Aku: "As you wish my child, and don't forget you have all our support, for whatever you need." He smiled.

Tawna: "Thank you, Aku Aku." She smiled back. "I'm sorry but, you don't mind if I walk alone for a while?"

Aku Aku: "Just be careful, alright?"

Tawna: "Don't worry, I'll be right back."

As the floating mask went back to the house, the blonde bandicoot remained in her thoughts. She did wanted to talk to her friends again, not necessarily to bring back the team, but to reunite the family and also fix all the damage caused by the disband of the Nitro Squad. Even if she didn't felt sure about this, Tawna knows that she will have to do it if she wants to stop these negative feelings for good.

While the blonde girl walked by the beach, suddenly, a bright pink light caught her attention.

Tawna: "Huh? What is that?" She asked herself.

The strange light came from the top of a tall rock, it called her attention enough for her to go take a look at it, but she found no way of climbing there.

Tawna: "Maybe if I go around..."

As Tawna went around the rocks, she noticed these rocks were actually a strange tribal totem, pointing to the other side of the beach. This totem looked nothing like any other she saw before at the island.

Tawna: "What's this? I never saw this kind of totem before..." She kneels to take a closer look at it. "Seems to be some kind of demon or something... It gives me the creeps." She said in an insecure tone.

Not wanting to get distracted from her current goal, she decided to climb the totem by the edges of the 'demon face' it had. What she didn't notice is, the totem's eyes began to glow, just like whatever it was on top of it.

Once the bandicoot reached the top, she saw the same pink light again, hidden behind some leaves. She got slowly closer to it, and discovered a strange looking pink gem, shaped like a pyramid, and glowing even more intensely as the rock under it started to smoke and get burned.

Even with this uncommon detail, Tawna was mesmerized by the glowing rock.

Tawna: "Woah... I never seen this gem before..."

She proceeded to slowly move her hands towards it as it was a bit hot, but suddenly, right when the young blonde girl touched the gem, it struck her painfully with some kind of energy, and a few seconds later, she was able to let go of the gem, making herself fall down the totem and explode in a burst of 'pink' flames right when she landed on the ground.

Tawna freaked out like she has never before, not realizing that she was 'throwing' fire everywhere and burning some trees in the process, only for her to trip over a little rock and fall on the ground again, but this time, the fire extinguished completely, leaving her very confused and scared by what just happened.

She looked terrified at the now not-glowing pink gem, which also fell down and is now lying next to the totem.

Tawna: "W-Wha... What the fuck was that?!" She said in a nervous tone.

She then gave a look around herself and saw all the burnt down scenery, and she also noticed something strangeā€¦ It didn't hurt at all. Even her clothes were unscathed.

The young bandicoot got quickly on her feet and backed off slowly away from the gem.

"I must tell Aku Aku" she thought while looking at the pink rock.

And without wasting any more time, she turned around and ran back to the house. But as soon as Tawna left the place, the totem's eyes glowed even more intensely, as it's mouth let out a white light, like it was some kind of portal, and what looked like a demon's hand sticked out of it, trying to get out from 'inside' the totem...
