"Kyaaaah!"

Everyone inside the building turn their heads towards that scream. Banging sounds followed after. They ran towards it and Matsuzaki-san's panicked screams sound louder.

"Open the door! Let me out!"

She screamed as she knock on the door loudly. The door was tightly closed and Takigawa-san cannot open it.

"It won't open. I'm going to kick it in. Ayako, move back!"

A blue vein appeared on Matsuzaki-san's face as she gritted her teeth and move away.

"Don't call me by my first name!"

A loud crack sounded and a big baam after that. They saw Matsuzaki-san staring below her in daze. Her right foot is lifted and the end of the door was just an inch before her ankle. That stance is quite comical!

"I was checking out the classroom when all of the sudden, the door closed by itself and wouldn't open!" Matsuzaki-san stated as she drank a mouthful of canned soda.

"You sure you didn't close it by yourself?" Naru's cold voice said causing Matsuzaki-san feel like an idiot and shouted.

"Yes, I'm sure! There's definitely something in here!"

Panic is still written on Matsuzaki-san's voice but a certain Medium refute her.

"I don't sense it. There are no spirits here."

An argument sparked between the two leading to Matsuzaki-san's defeat in the end.

"Humph! I think what I just experienced was caused by a 'Chirei' that lives on land." Matsuzaki-san concluded and Mai look at her with a confused eyes.

'Chirei is Earth Bound Spirit, right?'

Mai thought translating the word in English.

"No. I think it's a work of 'Jibakurei'. I wonder if something happened in the past?" Takigawa-san said and added.

'Oh! Jibakurei is Site-Bound Spirit.'

"My guess is there's a ghost that afraid of losing its home and is trying to prevent the demolition. What do you think, John?"

" I really don't know. Isn't the phenomenon of a haunted building usually caused by a spirit or Ghost?"

Mai thought all over this and doubt if there are spirits here.

'But Hara-san said that there is none. Could it be Matsuzaki-san really closed the door by herself?'

Mai look at her boss but she saw him whispering something all by himself. He is holding a nail in his hand.

Mai was about to tell him that it's dangerous to play with a nail but a thought strike her when she was about to speak.

'Nail! It's the reason why Matsuzaki-san's locked in hat door! It's not caused by psychic activity or whatever. But who would play a prank on her when all of us are in the base?'

Mai's shock expression dissipated as John began his theory sharing it to everyone.

"If a psychic phenomenon is caused by spirits, it would mean that Chirei has a close connection with the location or it would mean that spirits had called for the devil. But if the phenomenon was caused by ghost, it would mean that it was an act of Jibakurei or site-bound spirit. "

"It's Jibakurei, right?!"

"Chirei, right?!"

John was shocked as the two adults came to him and ask a question in the same time.

"I really don't know..."

"I'll perform a cleansing tomorrow. I'm sure it will work" Matsuzaki-san said and was about to leave but...

"I already told you. There are no spirits here."

Masako Hara interrupted but Matsuzaki-san just scorn at her and says she's a fake.

"Nah. I think Hara-san is correct. The equipments says it's normal and there is no sign that there are psychic activities. Also, Masako Hara-san is one of the best in Japan and her abilities have been tested by known scientists and passed it all. The possibility of her lying and deceiving us all is closed to zero. Also if she's wrong, she may be having a bad day so she can't perform her job well. This is most common in some female mediums. Not all activities like this is caused by paranormal. We are not sure at this moment. Please don't make conclusions yet."

Everyone turn their head towards a brunette who is holding a phone and a folder. She almost looks so cool when she's leaning elegantly on a table. She's reading the reports from the equipment and scroll some information of Masako Hara-san in her phone.

"Humph! Just a fan saving her idol!" Matsuzaki-san said but Mai showed her cellphone screen.

"Sorry. I'm not a fan. I don't know about her until I search her up on the internet." She really don't know Masako Hara but she is a little bit surprised when she saw how famous she is.

"Tsk! I'm gonna continue my plan. Good day. I'm leaving. You're welcome to watch it." Matsuzaki-san said as she exit the base.

After that, Takigawa-san walk towards Mai and shuffle her hair.

"I never knew you were clever!" Takigawa-san said as she laugh. Taking the moments of silence, Masako Hara turn towards Naru and gave him a sweet smile attracting the others in the base.

"Excuse me, have we met before?"

"No. I think this is the first time." Naru answered her bluntly, not even sparing the pretty medium a glance.

"Oh..."

Mai pout as she continue fixing her hair that was shuffled by Takigawa-san again. She heard the conversation of the two and a suspicion aroused inside her.

"Naru, the sun is about to set."

Naru gave her instructions and Takigawa-san came and asked him.

"Young one, you're not staying here tonight?"

"Not tonight. Mai.."

"Yes?"

"Tomorrow after school. Please be prepared to stay?"

Mai's body stiffened as she heard him say that.

"What? You're gonna take my weekend too?"

"And?" Naru's cold voice sounded as if his tone was implying her that it's a must so Mai gave up on him and just do her work.

Mai's friends are still surprised that Kazuya Shibuya was not a transfer student and also got depressed when Mai said that Masako Hara-san joined the group and was probably hitting on him. Of course she left out about her theory that Kazuya Shibuya may not be Kazuya Shibuya and someone else.

Mai is really troubled about Kazuya Shibuya's real identity. She also wondered why she feels so familiar to this guy. She is sure that Kazuya Shibuya is not from this country. He writes in English while making a personal report. Others write on the language that is comfortable to write with in writing a personal report. So he is from a English speaking country. Although he looks Japanese, maybe he grew up overseas?

Her intuition said that he is lying when she heard his name and also about his fake smile.

And the most important thing is the way he react when she called her 'Naru'. He is so shock that Mai got confused.

Also, her intuition said that before she said that.

Noll...

It's the English pronunciation of Naru. Could it be.. Noll is his real name? Probably.. But Noll sound like a nickname rather than a full name.

0_0

Mai is already sweating as she was staring at her phone and her notes that she made while she was investigating Kazuya Shibuya's real identity.

'OLIVER DAVIS!'

Mai couldn't believe this even until now.

'He is Oliver Davis! A famous scientist that is known for being Psychometric and having a unique ability, Psychokinesis.'

W-what the hell is this?!

'He said I called him without honorifics when I called him Naru. That means only people close to him called him that so Noll is the nickname. And Noll is a nickname for Oliver.'

'Naru writes in English and he also said that he is the president of SPR..Shibuya Psychic Research.. SPR...Oliver Davis is an Englishman and he is also the President of SPR in England. And this Kazuya Shibuya is also the president of Shibuya Psychic Research that can also be called SPR.Naru is really Oliver Davis? His name's fake.. Could it be his company is fake too? That it's not Shibuya Psychic Research but it's the SPR in England?'

Mai can tell that he is an expert in his field but she didn't really know if he practices PK and Psychometry.

'Also, Masako Hara thinks that she had seen him. There is a video about Oliver Davis's PK demonstration before. Could it be that she saw him in that video? This could be possible because she can get a copy of that video with her powerful identity and background.''I could be wrong right? But why am I feeling that this true?''Did I meet Oliver Davis in the past? But I couldn't remember it! Why is he so familiar?!'

That afternoon, Kuruda-san came to the base before me and claimed that she was attacked by strong spirits. Naru and Mai checked the footage but before she was attacked, the video stopped and display static. Naru said that there are some causes why there is static and said that maybe Kuruda-san and some spirits have the same wavelength that cause Kuruda-san to be delighted.

"I wonder if she's really capable.." said Takigawa-san who is looking at Matsuzaki-san who is preparing for her cleansing.

Mai tilted her head and look at the things Matsuzaki-san is preparing. It's so uncommon to her so she just observe.

"I've never seen a Shinto-style exorcism before."

"I've never seen Shinto-style exorcism before."

Mai raised her head and turn to look at Naru who just said the same sentence as her at the same time. Mai just ignore it and continue to watch as Matsuzaki-san continue her prayer to god. She said she got rid of the spirits but moments later, the glasses broke and the shards injured some people including the principal. An argument sparked among the people again until Mai noticed something at the monitors and play some footages before and during the exorcism.

Mai noticed that there is a chair in one of the classroom in the West corner of the building but Mai didn't see it when she put the camera there. Mai played the video and Mai saw how the chair slowly wobbles and slides towards the place in the classroom.

"NARU!"

Mai called him and all of the people inside look at her. Mai then show them the video on the monitor.

"There is not chair in that place when we put the camera in this place. Watch."

Mai played the video and all of them have shocked faces. Mai was about to ask Naru about it but Kuruda-san beats her to it.

"It's a poltergeist. I believe the word means 'loud spirits' that could cause objects to move and make some noises. I am correct, right Shibuya-san?"

"That correct. But I don't think it's a poltergeist. Objects that moved because of poltergeist are normally warm and that chairs seems normal. That would be very unusual."

The others continue speaking as Mai was reading some information about what's they're talking on her phone. The others also play the footage where Kuruda-san was attacked and asked Masako Hara-san about it but she insisted on saying that there are no spirits in the building. Masako Hara-san was about to go and check again but suddenly Mai reached out for her hand that caught the medium off guard.

"What is it?"

Mai don't know why but she just grabbed Hara-san's arm and stare at her blankly. She just felt that if she lets her out alone, something might happen.

"We don't know what is in here so I'm going with you. Better be safe than sorry, right?" Mai just said and let Hara-san lead the way.

"I'm Mai Taniyama, by the way. " Mai said as she walk beside her.

"Hmm."

"Are you really sure that there are no spirits here?" Mai asked as she took out her phone and search something.

"Yes. Are you doubting me now?"

"Humm. No. I believe you."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Naru believes in you so as his employee. I have to. Besides, my intuition said that you're right."

Mai said and walk ahead of he but when she turn towards Hara-san, she saw her leaning towards a rotten wall and there are cracking sound so she run towards her and pull her out of the danger.

The debris fall to the ground in the first floor and Mai heaved a sigh of relief when she assured they are both safe. Hara-san is still shocked and several heavy footsteps came towards them.

"What happened?" Takigawa-san asked as he helped the two up.

"Hara-san lean on a rotten wall so she nearly fall. " Mai answered as she pick up her phone that was thrown to the ground. Mai groaned when she saw a break on the screen.

"Are you two okay?"

"Yeah." Mai said as Masako Hara-san nodded. Mai frown as she stare at the pitiful phone of hers. Mai put it in her pocket quickly but Masako saw it before that.

"This is the room where the chair moved isn't it?"

They argued again if there are spirits her or not. John was asked to perform an exorcism and Naru went to the van to do something. He said that the mics are connected to the van so if Mai needed something, she will just call him.

The group stare at the screen as John perform an exorcism in that room. There are creaking sounds so I look around the screen to find out where it was coming from. Mai's eyes widened when she saw the ceiling.

"Naru, come quickly!"

Mai shouted as she ran towards the room. The others shout at her but her mind was focused on getting John out of that room. The room's door opened surprising John. He was about to asked what happened but Mai run towards him and pull him out of the classroom. A loud crash and a loud scream from Mai was heard after that and the others including Naru ran towards them.

They saw John sitting beside Mai whose leg was caught by the fallen debris. The bandage on her head was undone and John was trying to get her leg out.

"Mai!" Naru said as he help Mai out of the room. Takigawa-san step up to help Mai stand properly. Thankfully, her feet didn't got any sprain or something. However, there are visible cuts and bruises on it.

"What a disaster."

Everyone look at the debris scattered. They sighed and decided to call it a day. Naru permitted Mai to go home and the others went home as well. Mai can't help but to think of this case so she decided to head back to the van after she got some snacks and black tea. Naru was busy typing on his laptop so he was surprised when Mai put a cup of tea infront of him.

"Mai? Why are you here?"

Mai pushed the cup gently to him and sit on the other side of the van.

"Well, I couldn't stop thinking about all of this so I'm here to help you up and stay for the night."

"Oh? You don't have homework? And your head..."

"Humph! Knowing that you're gonna take my weekend yesterday, I decided to do all of them including this day's homework. Also, Matsuzaki-san already clean my wounds and wrapped my head injury. About my leg, it was just scratched." Mai said as she bring out her personal netbook and type something.

"Naru, what do you think about the case? Haunted or cursed?"

"I don't think it's cursed nor haunted."

"You think so too?"

Naru raised his eyebrow as Mai said that. She thinks that there are no psychic activities here too?

"I also have doubts on what is happening here so I'm here to accompany you to investigate. "

"Oh? What is your opinion?"

Mai smirked at him and show her laptop's screen to him

"I don't have proof yet but I think it's land subsidence. You have the same thoughts, right?"
