Ash sighed as she stared down at the Christmas card that until today had been sitting on the table besideher living room window. Somehow she had missed it when she destroyed all of their other photos together.

She and Lance were dressed in matching red and black Christmas sweaters with two snowmen holding guitars on them. Both porcupines were smiling, but Ash's was genuine. Lance on the other hand looked bored, his smile looking more like he was showing off his teeth for a dental exam or something.

Though she tried to keep a cool front, Ash had to admit she was a total elf when it came to Christmas. And besides, she was secure enough in her coolness to admit that.

Lance on the other hand, seemed to treat Christmas like another day at best, and an inconvenience at worst.

Normally Ash had disdain for girls who constantly kissed their boyfriends, thinking it was attention-seeking and desperate, but she had tried to catch Lance under the mistletoe a couple times, not that it had been worth it.

"Babe, not now, okay?" he had said during their last Christmas when Ash managed to get him under the mistletoe she'd discretely hung over the couch.

"Oh come on, Lance," she'd actually fluttered her eyelashes and placed her paws on his shoulders. "It's tradition."

"Whatever. Look, I gotta finish writing this new song before our next gig," Lance had waved her off. "We might actually have a chance this time."

"What if you wrote a holiday song?" Ash suggested. "You can't go wrong with some Christmas rock."

"Ash, babe," Lance sighed. "We talked about this. I'm the song writer and the lead, and you-?"

Ash rolled her eyes.

"I'm the backing vocals," she groaned.

"Right," Lance actually smiled then and patted her on the back. "Now, I gotta go finish writing. We can maybe go out for some of that peppermint coffee or something after, okay?"

Ash nodded, trying not to show her disappointment. Though, she couldn't help but feel Lance wouldn't have noticed even if she did let it show.

Shaking her head, the up and coming rocker couldn't believe she'd ever been so stupid to see that Lance hadn't cared for her the way a boyfriend, or even a friend for that matter, should have.

With a sense of renewed vigor, she ripped the card in half, feeling a surge of satisfaction as Lance's 'smile' was torn apart.

But then as quickly as it had come, it faded as she looked around her decorated, but lonely apartment.

Rosita was of course busy at home with her family, along with Gunther whom she'd invited both because his family was all overseas and he was the only one who seemed able to help control the crazy piglets. Mike was probably off causing trouble, and Ash didn't like him much anyway. Meena was off with her own family. Even Johnny was off visiting his dad.

Suddenly, Ash got an idea.

Even on Christmas, she was sure visiting hours wouldn't last all day, so it wouldn't be long until Johnny had to leave. And Ash was sure the last thing the gorilla would want to do is go back to an empty garage.

"Maybe I'll text him and see if he wants to hang out," she said to herself. "Beats being alone."

She picked up her phone.

Ash: Merry Christmas!

Johnny: Merry Christmas to you too!

Ash: How'd the visit go?

Johnny: Alright. Just left. How are things with you?

Ash: Ok. Would you want to hang out?

Johnny: Sorry. Meena invited me over to her place for dinner.

Ash felt her heart sink.

Ash: K. No problem. Have fun.

Johnny: Cheers.

Ash set her phone down and glared at the floor. She had hoped that the one animal in the group that didn't have anywhere else to be would have been free. Sad as it was, even Moon was going over to Eddie's. Ash was the only one stuck by herself.

Suddenly, her phone beeped, signalling another text.

Her mood brightened when she saw it was from Meena.

Meena: Hey Ash. Merry Christmas

Ash: Merry Christmas.

Meena: Do you have any plans today?

Ash: Aside from shredding the last pic of Lance, no. Why what's up?

Meena: Would you wanna come over for dinner? There's plenty to go around

Ash: Sure!

Meena: Great! Dinner's at 6!

Ash: Got it! Thanks!

Ash actually laughed. Her first Christmas without Lance turned out to be even better than she'd hoped. She'd also be spending it with her new friends.

Alright, hope you guys enjoyed that. Just a couple more to go.
