A long month in Bremerhaven

They finally did it! They had successfully docked at the port of Bremerhaven in Germany with all their goods except for a few stolen barrels of coffee. Caspian felt relief and so did his men. Caspian thought that he would not make it and suffer the same fate that many ships go through, sinking. That same night they docked, The entire crew were to stay in the ship for an entire month while the new cargo was being loaded and a few repairs had been done. John, David, and Henry had gotten scurvy and were being treated in the ship's medical room, "You bettir drinke the lime! You don'ts wants to get the worse do you?" Ramson always said. Sometimes, Ramson got extremely annoying and even made Caspian annoyed by blabbering about the effects of scurvy in his strange accent. It was their third day in Bremerhaven when it happened...

"Spoons! Help the others out of their burning ships! Ramson, Andrew, George, and zack put the fire off our ship with the rest of the crew! I'll sail the ship away from the fire!" Caspian bravely commanded. Everyone listened except for one, Spoons.

"Captain! we're carrying gunpowder! You can't sail the ship away. It's already on fire! It's suicide. Don't do it!" Spoons shouted.

"I shall not risk other lives just to save myself! I rather die than live with regret! Just do what I say and get everyone away from here. If the gunpowder in this ship catches on fire... No, I will not let it happen!" Caspian answered. Spoons had no choice, he did what Caspian had told him. Caspian immediately sailed the ship out the docks. It was dark and visibility was bad but Caspian managed to get as far as possible away from the port. It was two o'clock in the morning and Caspian had no choice but to jump into the water that as cold as ice. He did it. He jumped into the freezing water. He felt the cold, uncomfortable touch of water pulling the life out of him, the ship could burst in flames any time, Caspian felt like he was slowly suffering, dying. Caspian never gave up. He swam as hard as he can but his energy was running out and the waves were pulling him back. He tried to break through but he felt alone, useless. He could hear everyone calling out for him but all he saw in the distance were flames, violent, hot flames ready to kill him any moment. His sight got blurred, he felt the cold touch his bones. Just when the thought of a watery grave hit his head, he heard a voice, a voice of hope.

"We're comin' capn'!" George said. Caspian saw a tiny dot that turned into a smear that turned into a blot that soon turned into a figure of tiny men on a lifeboat. It was the main crew- Spoons, Andrew, Ramson, George and Zack! The boat came closer and closer. Caspian felt his feet again and got the courage to stay alive. He gathered all his strength and swam. But as if in just in a second, everything was dark and Caspian heard nothing, felt nothing and saw nothing. He simply floated on the waves.

Caspian coughed. "He's Alive!" Everyone cheered in joy. Caspian was shocked. He thought he was in heaven. everyone was cheering while poor, cold Caspian was petrified.

"Am I in heaven? Did you die in the blast too?" Caspian asked, looking rather puzzled.

"Yer not dead Caspian, you're our hero! You saved us all and almost sacrificed yerself! Yer ship survived the fire, by the way. just replace a little part of that ol' mast and a few floorboards on the deck. We can help fix that!" A man said. followed by many cheers. Caspian felt proud of himself, but not too proud. The ship was taken back to the port with a few damages, The port was badly damaged but who cares? Everyone was safe and that's all that mattered to Caspian.

"This is going to be a long month." Caspian sighed to himself before he slept. He was still suffering from the cold. Caspian did not sleep the whole night. He kept coughing and wheezing. George, Spoons, Andrew, Zack and Ramson were near his room door, listening to his wheezes, They couldn't sleep because their rooms were near his, "He really needs to take his dose of lime." Ramson whispered.

"He doesn't have scurvy, Ramson. He's just cold." Zack explained. Everyone else agreed. The crewmates started arguing about the symptoms of scurvy and created a racket. Caspian heard the sound of the five men and got out of bed. The men went silent. Caspian's footsteps came closer and closer.

"Go, Go! Get back to your rooms and pretend to be asleep! He's coming!" Spoons whispered. The men slowly, silently tiptoed away from Caspian's room. It was too late. The door opened and a very annoyed Caspian was standing at the door in his pyjamas. His frown then turned into a slight smile.

"What caring crewmates I have here," Caspian said feeling proud of his men. His face turned into a frown once again, "You must get some sleep. We have a lot of work tomorrow!" He said. The men went back to their rooms but could not sleep. Caspian coughed and wheezed while all the burned wood choked the men.

The next day had begun and most of the men did not have a good sleep. Their eyes were red and their faces were pale. Caspian, his men and the locals worked hard to help the locals repair the port. They cleaned half the debris by evening. Caspian was proud of his men. Caspian went to the kitchen in the ship to prepare a cup of te for himself. "Havin' a cup of tea, eh?" Zack said, walking into the kitchen. Caspian got scared and slightly jumped. He looked back, It was just Zack.

"You scared me, Zack. Good work out there! I see you're already covered in sweat, Better take a bath after we're done cleaning for the day." Caspian said.

"You were working harder than us all, Captain. Even though you're sick." Zack exclaimed. Caspian didn't say anything, not because he meant to be rude. He just was so thirsty. A minute later, almost the entire crew had come in to get water. Ramson was busy pulling out all the barrels of water. Everyone was silent, no one spoke. They were all consumed by their thirst. Caspian was the first to get out of the ship. He went back to work, followed by the others.

"Pirates! Pirates! They were shooting at me!" It was Roger, He was running as fast as he could, shouting. His face was gone red. Caspian's sixth sense lit up. He sensed danger, great danger...

Just five minutes later, He saw it. He saw what would drive any man mad. He saw... The black pennant. Not just one, but a total of five! The ships were coming dangerously closer and closer to the docks.

Caspian wasn't scared. He knew a few pirates who fought them off. "If they can do it, I can!" Caspian thought to himself. Without saying a word, he got into his ship, told his men to set the said and leave the docks. Other ships following behind him.

"Load the guns!" Andrew ordered. The guns were loaded. A sword in everyone's hand. Spoons had his bow and arrow, an expert archer he was. He struck first with an arrow shooting through a pirates chest. The pirates shot second, destroying a part of the docks with a huge cannonball. Zack and George shot two cannons, destroying one ship. The ships getting closer and closer. Everything went silent. And suddenly, The pirates came in full speed right next to Caspian's ship. Caspian's face went red with rage, one of his men were shot. The ships came much closer, they were now side by side. Caspian grabbed the ropes and swung to one of the ships. Caspian was surrounded by not one, not ten but fifteen men! Luckily, Caspian was an expert swordsman, He pulled his sword out of its scabbard and began to strike. He fought like a professional! Zack and Andrew joined him with George, Spoons and Ramson fighting in the much bigger ship. Caspian fought well and disarmed many men. He even set part of the ship on fire! He soon swung to another ship as the ship he was fighting on Burst in flames. He landed with a thud and watched the ship behind him burn and sink along with the men inside. He turned and took a sword laying on the floor. he climbed the mast and onto the crow's nest. with a mighty swing of the sword, he cut the rope connecting to the sinking ship. The fire had touched the gunpowder. The opposite ship exploded violently sending wood scraps and a few human limbs around. the shockwave sent Caspian flying out of the crow's nest and landing on the deck with a crack. Caspian immediately blacked out. A few seconds later, he woke up and in a blink of an eye, was back up and running towards the enemy with a sword in his hand. His face was torn and badly bleeding with a shirt soaked in warm red blood that kept spreading. he charged towards the enemy and disarmed three men at once. he kicked them down and moved on towards more people he punched, kicked and stabbed many people leaving them flat on the floor. Blood splashed around as Caspian saw one of his own men get killed right in front of his eyes. Shots rang, fires burned, blood splashed, and weapons were thrown.

Caspian found the captain of one ship and began to fight with him. Caspian limped in pain as he fought but he was determined to save the innocent people and their goods. he struck his sword at the captain's and pushed him toward the edge of the ship. Using his feet, he kicked the captain into the cold sea. He turned around and looked for anyone hiding. As he limped forward with his remaining strength, he felt a piercing pain in his back. People began to scream. The pain increased as a sharp object began to move through him he then looked down and saw the tip of a sword go through him and back out. Blood rushed out as he went pale and fell on the bloody floor.
