Birthday Cards.

Birthdays, a concept Freya hated for centuries. That was until she was finally free from her maternal aunt Dahlia. Not that she expected much from her birthdays, she was content and appreciated anything she was gifted. Flowers, chocolates, jewellery and clothes. Even a card.

Just something to show. She was valued and loved. She didn't care for the design of the card. But more of the content inside.

"Babe, there more cards," Keelin said, from downstairs in the compound.

"Are you sure?" Freya asked as she walked down the stairs.

"Yes, only a couple though," Keelin answered. She then passed her wife. The new birthday cards.

"Baby girl," Freya said to herself as she traced her name written in a gel pen. She carefully opens the envelope and takes out the card. The outside of the card was the standard birthday card for a mother. She then opens up the card. And what she finds inside is truly beautiful: a picture of Vincent and Grace age, three. The daughter of Keelin, Freya and Vincent. In the picture, Grace is feeding some ducks bread.

"I swear she's bigger in this photo than she was, the last time I saw her," Tears formed in Freya's eyes.

"Oh, sweetie, she will be home in a couple of days," Keelin said, trying to soothe her wife.

"I know, it's just that she's never been this far away from us before," Freya replied.

"Why don't I, put this card with the others?" Keelin suggested. Freya nodded and passed the card to Keelin. The witch then moved onto the last card. She ripped the envelope open. Again just seeing the standard auntie's birthday card. But with the price sticker still on the front. She opens it and reads what inside.

Happy Birthday, more money wasted. The Claire Twins.

"Typical," Freya commented as she closed the card.

"Which one sent the card?" Keelin asked. Freya shows Keelin the front of the card. And passed it to her. Keelin looks at the front, then opens it up.

"A fifteen cent birthday card. With the price sticker still attached to it. And a passive-aggressive message has to be from Caleb. Henrik's minimum birthday card is a dollar and he wouldn't leave the price sticker on. Or that kind of message. He would just leave their names," Keelin said.

"I don't know why I bother Keelin," Freya replied as she walked over to the couch and sat down. Keelin sighed and followed.

"Honey, you care because you love your family. That's the thing I love most about you. They come around, you'll see," Keelin tells Freya.

"They had fourteen years to come around. They never came to our wedding, they stayed with friends. They never come here for any holiday. Caleb and Henrik hate the Mikaelson name, our family, especially me," Freya responded.

"Sweetie, they don't see the good in our family. Or in you, I have an idea call Vincent tell him, you're heading over to Paris, Klaus bought a private plane for the family. I'll catch a flight and see if I can convince the twins to visit us at Christmas," Keelin suggested.

"You're mad honey, they're crazy stubborn," Freya replied.

"They're Mikaelson it comes with the territory," Keelin responded.
