Hello, so this is just a self-indulgent fic. I have been reading Arctimon stories on here (which y'all should totally read btw. They are really good because he writes Karmiro so beautifully.) And I just wanted to write a kiss between Hiro and Karmi so here it is.

Again, if this sucks I apologize.

Karmi honestly should have never let this happen. But against her better judgement she let her fuzzy brain do it anyways.

She had been running on 4 hours of sleep trying to figure out her robotics homework, like seriously why couldn't this be as easy as biology. When she had chosen a robotics elective, (not that Hiro had anything to do with that decision) she just wanted to expand her knowledge in that area, it was good to learn something new. But now she was kinda regretting it. Why was this so hard?

Biology was where she thrived. She could do that with her eyes closed. Naming a strand a bacteria, done. How it reproduces, been there. Knowing how it infects and what effects it has on the body, a walk in the park.

But trying to figuring out the mechanics of a stupid piece of machinary, this was like trying to figure out why anyone would want a career in this field, but she doesn't see why she needs to understand how it works. That's for dumb idiots like Hiro.

Ah yes, Hiro Hamada.

He's been on her mind a lot lately. She doesn't know why though. The Genius Boy made an appearance in her life so fast, she didn't have time to prepare for the amount of time she would have to spend with him. At first.

Not that she spends much time with him anymore, they used to be in each other's face, (not literally) all the time because of Granville, (Karmi swears she somehow set her up) but after her internship with Liv Amara and coming back to get her place at back SFIT. They had come to some sort of a friendship that she was glad to have, not that she would admit that out loud.

At first, the idiot was annoying trying to show her up. She was the youngest before this scrawny, dorky and a bit adorable of a boy came and took that away from her. She realizes she called him adorable, which he is not. That was a misstep, she didn't mean it. She blames it on her exhaustion.

What she also blames on her exhaustion is what she does after the idiot genius came to check on her late at night on a Friday.

Karmi was ready to rip her hair out. This homework was going to be the death of her. Or maybe Hiro was.

Because she had him pushed against the door of her lab with her lips pressed up against his. There's no other explanation she can think of for her actions. She never would have done anything remotely close to this if she were well rested.

If she was in her right mind, she would've been her usual snarky self and she would be pushing him out the door, not against it.

But it honestly felt so good to kiss him. Especially after the week she's had. (Not that she goes around kissing people when she's had a bad day.) And it shouldn't, she tries to reason with herself. And the rational part of her brain would have agreed with her, but right now that part was off taking a vacation, while her more adventurous and impulsive side was here and now.

When Hiro came in she had a retort at the tip of her tongue ready because how dare he disturb her, but that all died down when she took in his appearance. It's not that she had never seen him without his sweater, she has. So why did it feel like she was seeing him for the first time?

Her primitive brain was enjoying the exposure of his arms. Hiro wasn't some super fit guy, even at 15 years old he didn't look as scrawny as he was a year ago when she met him. Not that she had noticed. Because she definitely did not notice that he had finally hit his growth spurt and was the same height as her. It didn't do anything to her to know that she didn't have to look down at him anymore. And maybe even next year he would be towering over her. Not that that excited her.

She didn't need those thoughts. The thought that if he wanted to he could lean into her and kiss her soundly. And she would have to press up on her toes to bring him down to her level. Those things weren't supposed to be on her mind. And they weren't, she was just giving examples of things that aren't on her mind.

Karmi groaned. Unfortunately, Hiro heard her as he came over to look over her shoulder. She could smell the cologne that he was wearing. It was a smell mixed in with other things that made her know it was Hiro. A mix of sandalwood, metal and oil and something else that she couldn't quite place.

It was causing her head to spin. Yeah, she needed to get home and sleep and put Hiro away from her mind. Permanently.

"You want some help with that?" Hiro said.

Karmi turned to Hiro. "What?" She squeaked, had she said her thoughts aloud?

He furrowed his eyebrows, he gestured to the paper on her desk. "Your robotics homework, do you want some help?" He repeated.

She sighed inwardly, she at least had some semblance to not voice her treacherous thoughts out loud.

These thoughts were something that had been showing up ever since she came back a few months ago. She didn't pay much attention to what they could mean, but now she was getting concerned.

It started out with her keeping tabs on Big Hero 6, specifically Captain Cutie, while she was away. For some reason, beyond her, she started to see Hiro as Captain Cutie. That made her blanch at her thoughts. There was absolutely no way that Hiro Hamada was in any way shape or form the fearless leader of Big Hero 6. Karmi thought that maybe the time she spent away from San Fransokyo had been getting to her and she was just projecting her feelings onto Captain Cutie. But it didn't make sense because there were no feelings she had for Hiro, that were other than platonic. So why didn't they stop when she came to that conclusion?

When she came back he welcomed back with open arms. And she realized how much he had grown and how much of an important part of her life he had become. Yeah, she hated to admit it but he was her first friend, and she never knew how much fun she could have with him. Even though they would occasionally throw insults at each other (they would never give up that part of their relationship) they had something special and she realized he felt somewhat the same, when they picked up where they left off.

Karmi had apologized for kidnapping him but he told her there was no need because he knew she would never hurt him. And she wouldn't unless he backed up a few feet or 20 miles, right now.

"Are you feeling ok, Karmi?" He asked concerned.

She realizes that she never answered his question. She gets up, packing everything up, putting her homework in her folder and shuting her laptop, she knows she's not going to get anything done tonight. Not if she's this close to Hiro.

Karmi pushes him out of the way. "Move it idiot," she said, it comes out more spiteful than she intended. It's not like they don't talk to each other like that, though it's been kept to a minimum since her return.

She heads for the door, folders in her hand and determination on getting out of here.

Unfortunately, Hiro steps in front of her before her hand touches the handle of the door. His side is next to her hand, she can feel his body heat and she knows that she's not going to be able to contain herself, if her brain function is this low.

"Karmi, what's wrong?"

You, you are what's wrong, she wants to say.

Instead she says. "You want to know what's wrong with me? You really want to know?"

He looks less sure of himself, but he doesn't back down. Karmi thought for sure he would cower away from her scrutiny, but she was wrong. Of course he wouldn't you're friends remember? Her brain supplies her.

"Yes." He stands his ground.

Ugh, he's such an annoying little twerp that is more worried about her well being than his own. And she hates him for it. It's what she loves about him. Again, if her brain was fully functional she never would've used that word. Because she doesn't love him. She's gonna prove it. Just watch.

She gives up holding back, she needs to know what it's like just once. This is where her brain completely leaves her because she's ready to throw the folder in her hand at him but instead she drops it on the floor and backs Hiro up against the door crowding his space and she grabs his face to kiss him.

There's a few seconds before he responds back. Moving his lips against her, as if testing the waters. She wanted to moan in relief, she was so afraid of getting rejected but it looks like he felt the same, at least as far as this kiss goes.

His arms go to her waist wrapping around her back pushing her much closer to him. Karmi moves her to wrap her arms around his neck while her fingers play with the hair at the nape of his neck. He groans, and she feels the vibrations against her mouth.

God, this feels so good, to turn off her brain, and get feel the rush of endorphins from kissing another person.

She feels the brush of a warm tongue against her lips and she lets him in. She pushes herself more flush against him. And in her daze he pulls back, breathing hard, eyes dark, she feels so many things at once. He flips their positions, she gasps as she feels the door behind her as he presses against her again. She lifts her right leg to hitch it on his hip and he grips her thigh. And moves his other hand to her left leg, she gets what he wants her to do but she's not sure he'll be able to hold her up. Not that she thinks she's heavy, she is not but Hiro isn't too gifted in the upper half of his body.

She does it anyways and he's holding her up just fine. It's a bit hot.

Karmi lifts her brow. "When did you get upper body strength?" Not that she was complaining, but she didn't think he was working out.

He chuckled. "There's a lot about me you don't know about Karmi," he says mysteriously.

She leans forward to capture his lips again. Now that she was allowed to do this, she didn't want to waste time talking.

He pulled back again. "You still didn't answer my question."

She groaned, and not in the way she wanted him to make her groan. "Hiro if you don't mind I would rather do something else than talk please."

He smirked. The idiot smirked at her. Something that she didn't think belonged on his face. And she hated how good he looked doing it.

He pecked her lips. "I know." He pressed again. "You've been wanting," another kiss, "to kiss me for a long time."

She had been enjoying his little game, but that last part made her freeze. She pushed away and unwrapped her legs from around him. "What?" She said feeling exposed now. "How do you know that?"

The smirk didn't let up. "The same way I know you normally leave your lab at 8pm and it's close to 9pm and you're still here."

That didn't answer her question at all.

"I've been watching you," he clarified. "You're not usually so absentminded. I thought that it may have been that you hadn't adjusted to your return but it's been months. I also realized you kept staring at me. But it wasn't me you were really looking at, but my lips."

She crossed her arms, how dare he stare at her. Was he making fun of her? Did he think it was funny to kiss her?

"I was not staring at your lips," she retorts.

He raises his eyebrows in challenge. "Oh really?" He comes closer to her, his lips inches from hers, her breath hitches, but he pulls away at the last second. She frowns that he didn't kiss her.

He chuckles. She crosses her arms.

He continued, looking down at the ground. "At first I thought you were plotting my death but I knew that maybe you wanted the same thing as me." He smiled, "I've wanted to kiss you too," he admitted, looking up at her.

Up until that point she thought she was dreaming. She thought that maybe this had been all an insomniac dream she was having while awake (did those exist?). Karmi was sure she was going to cry. Hiro felt the same way. Yeah, she knows that about a year ago she was making fun of Hiro at the potential idea that he could have a crush on her, (it wasn't for her to know that the one harboring the crush was her) she just didn't think it could happen. Of course she couldn't blame him, she's fabulous, it's hard not to fall in love with all this. It was never in her plans for him to reciprocate.

She reduced the space between them and grabbed the collar of his shirt and crashed her lips against his. She longed for this for so long she never expected to get it.

When they pulled away they both giggled with glee.

Hiro was about to say something, but there was a knock at the door.

"Mr. Hamada and Ms. Khan, I suggest you wrap things up in there. The doors will be closing at 9pm."

It was Granville.

Hiro and Karmi looked sheepishly at each other.

Once Granville's footsteps receded, Hiro bent down to pick up Karmi's folder, handing it to her.

"Thanks," she said as she grabbed it, feeling a sense of shyness. Now that they've kissed, where exactly do they stand with each other?

"Hey, wanna come over to the Lucky Cat Cafe?" He asked. "I know it's late but you could pass by to get a snack before you head home. If you want."

Karmi was eager to get home. She was feeling her exhaustion more heavily now, after the rush she got from kissing Hiro. But she didn't want to depart from his side just yet.

"Yes." She answered.

He smiled. "Great, let's go." He grabbed her hand and led her out the door.

Sleep was for the weak anyway.
