Greetings, fellow readers!

Another Brainy-centric fic for you all. Once again, it focuses on the issues concerning the Village's treatment of our beloved spectacled smurf. This is my personal take on the movie scene. Feel free to provide feedback, questions, and concerns; they are always welcome.

I also received a request for a Smurfette-centric fic with this same plot, so I am currently working on that. I will update it as a new chapter once finished.

Speaking of which, shout-outs to Sharkbait1027, MasterClass60, and RONbatakappu for commenting! I really appreciate it, thank you guys so much!

Without further ado, enjoy the story!

Gargamel cackled as he continued draining the essence away from the bespectacled smurf. He'd never liked the four-eyed chatterbox anyway- it seemed that even from a young age Brainy was always ruining the wizard's plans. Oh, how the tables have turned.

Brainy was strapped to a smurf-sized metal chair and was slowly drawing closer to what lay at the end of the conveyor belt.

"All this work has finally paid off Azrael! No doubt when they notice a smurf is missing they'll come to rescue him, but I'll have all his essence by then! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!" The wizard jeered, watching his contraption grant him his wicked dreams all the while. Another drop of essence came out of the contraption and Gargamel was right there to receive it into his wand. "Then I'll capture all the smurfs and be the most powerful wizard in the universe!" Azrael mowed in agreement to her master.

"You're wrong Garagamel.." The group of smurfs heard in the distance as they neared the wizard's location and the contraption. They were hiding- waiting for the exact moment to act on Brainy's behalf. They could see him as well as the forlorn expression that plagued his features. He looked so tired. "They won't come for me.." the smurf replied eventually, tears falling from his eyes. The essence from the drops was added to Gargamel's wand as well.

"Oh?" The wizard asked, generally confused. "And why not?" He added, a bushy black brow raising in response to the smurf's comment.

"Because I'm not important. No one in the village can even stand me." Brainy sobbed bitterly. "They wouldn't be stupid enough to save me! Papa smurf is smarter than that!" The bespectacled smurf vociferated, saying nothing after that but continued sobbing quietly.

Papa Smurf and the gang couldn't believe what they were hearing, what they were seeing. A sign of understanding dawned on Gargamel's face. He knelt down to level his eyes with the magical blue creature.

"You know, if you weren't a part of my evil plan to destroy smurfkind, I might actually feel sorry for you." This made Brainy look up towards the evil wizard in black.

"Why do you even hate us anyway? What did we ever do to you?!" Brainy asked, thrusting forward in his chair this time to meet Gargamel with a hateful stare. Taken back, Gargamel stood up straight to keep from falling over in surprise. He smiled deviously and began his story.

"Well you little blue wretch, once upon a time a wizard lived in a castle and the smurfs lived in a secret village. I was sent off to an academy to become the most powerful wizard of all!" He conceded, liking the sound of being the greatest in all the land. His enthusiasm died as he told of the harsh reality next. "But I never made it. I couldn't complete many famous spells because I didn't have any special ingredients," he said, gesturing his hand towards the smurf. Brainy cut him off.

"So you failed magic school because you couldn't come up with any alternative ways to cast a spell? You know all the spells WE use don't require the smurfing of our own kind, RIGHT?" The brainiac retorted.

"Don't talk back to me, you miserable smurf! You smurfs ruined my life, and now they're all going to pay to fix it!" He declared.

Brainy rolled his eyes, to the hiding smurfs' partial amusement. "You're pathetic. You know that? I bet your CAT has better sense than you. In fact, you should be grateful that she's even smurfed around as long as she has." Gargamel boiled with rage, and at this moment the smurfs attacked before any further actions against their family member could be initiated.

"NOW!" Someone shouted. Gargamel, the cat and Brainy immediately stiffened. The wizard wanted to know what was happening to his plan- he'd been taken by surprise! But he knew that the smurfs would be no match for his wand. All Brainy knew was that Papa had made the worst mistake of his life.

"Papa Smurf?!" The wizard exasperated.

"Oh Papa.. No.." Brainy sighed.

Though the battle was tense, it didn't take long before Gargamel was defeated and his wand was out of commission, the captured smurf's essence having now returned to his form. The group of rescuers- Papa, Gutsy, Hefty, Smurfette, and Clumsy freed Brainy from the machine.

"Brainy!" They cried simultaneously, all of them asking questions about his health and safety.

"Are you alright, lad?" Gutsy queried.

"Are you okay, Brainy?" Clumsy added, placing a hand on the small of Brainy's back in an act of brotherly affection.

"We're so glad we got here in time!" Smurfette chirped, attempting to lift the mood she knew her brother was in. And that is when Brainy said otherwise.

"Why did you come back for me?" He asked out of the blue, disheartened. This startled the group despite that they'd heard his lamenting before the storming of the castle. Speaking of which, they'd need to get back to master Winslow soon to create the portal back to their world.

"What kind of question is THAT?!" Hefty exclaimed. "Of course we came back for you! You're our brother for smurfing out loud!"

"I wasn't worth the trouble. You should've just left me here, the blue moon is going to fade soon and-" Papa now stood in front of his apprentice.

"Brainy Smurf, don't you ever think that you aren't worth anything." He commanded his youngest son. "We love you dearly and there is nothing we wouldn't do to keep you safe." At his father's tender words Brainy let his tears fall.

"Then why do all my brothers hate me?" He asked despondently, his voice barely audible. The surrounding smurfs looked at each other in shock. It upset them to see him like this. Immediately afterward they all enveloped Brainy into a group hug. When they let go Hefty said this:

"We don't hate you Brainy, no one does."

"Then why does no one heed my advice, and why do I get kicked out of the village on a daily basis- or -pranked on more than anyone else?" He lamented. "I don't understand!"

"We just like to pull your chain a wee bit, lad. We never meant ya any harm."

"Yeah," Hefty added, "I always know where you're going to land to make sure you don't truly hurt yourself."

"I guess we just didn't realize how badly it was affecting you." Smurfette finished.

"And you know I've never done any of those things to you, Brainy!" Clumsy reminded him. The youngest smurf wiped away a stray tear and straightened. This immediate change in face startled a few of the brothers, who began to realize just how strong Brainy was. There were few creatures on the planet who had such control over their emotions. They chuckled when his regular guise appeared.

"Well, this would have been great information for me to know. Now I'm all worked up for no reason at all!" Brainy sighed. "Come on," He said as he started ahead of the pack, "we need to get back to the portal site in time if we're ever going to get home. The next blue moon doesn't occur for another thousand years." Nodding, they all followed him, none of his siblings knowing he knew that.

Hope you all enjoyed reading it!

As per multiple requests, I will also be posting a prequel and one-shot of Smurfette in this situation. Stay tuned to find out how she would handle Gargamel's machinery!
