Silver: 15
Blaze: 14

The Nomad was working on formulating more bastic bullets in the TARDIS while Tails and Cream toiled in the workshop on guns. Meanwhile, Sally, Sonic, Amy, and Knuckles were in the living room standing over a table with a map of Station Square. Sally pointed at a line on the map. "This is how much of the city the Daleks have taken. So far, most of their forces are combing that area for any survivors."

"What about the military?" Knuckles asked. "Have they started using those new bullets the Nomad mentioned?"

"Tough to tell. Engagements are pretty spare," Sonic said. "We should go out and help."

"I wouldn't be so rash," Amy said.

"We have to!"

"Listen to your woman, Sonic!" Knuckles chided, and Sonic's face flushed a bit. Sally rolled her eyes.

Shadow loaded the magazine filled with the new bastic bullets. With him was a small squad of elite combat troops similarly equipped.

"They're coming," one of Shadow's men advised.

"Stay sharp, gentlemen," Shadow said, gripping his pistol.

"Here they come!" his man shouted as three Daleks came into view.

"Open fire," Shadow calmly ordered. Immediately, the eight men all pulled the triggers on their weapons, firing a flurry of bullets into the Daleks. The effect was not as dramatic as it had been with the Nomad's gun, but the Daleks were clearly taking damage. They returned fire, taking down two of his men. "Concentrate your fire on the one in the center!" Shadow yelled, and seconds later, that Dalek blew up.

"Under attack!" one of the remaining Daleks cried as it took more bullets. There was a huge explosion on its forward side. "Withdraw! Regroup!"

Shadow and his men didn't relent as the Daleks began to retreat. As another one of his men was killed, they destroyed one of the remaining Daleks, and then the last one. Shadow smiled, a rare occasion.

"Screwdriver," Tails said. Cream rummaged through Tails' toolbox and handed one over with a smile. Their hands briefly touched, both the rabbit and the fox recoiled their hands and blushed. Tails composed himself first, finishing the gun and putting it down before sighing.

"Tired, huh?" Cream asked.

"Aren't you? We've been at this for a while."

"Yeah," Cream said.

"Chao, Chao!" Cheese said, giving rough sounds of agreement.

"That we can all drink to," the Nomad said, stepping out of his TARDIS with a new cartridge of bastic bullets.

"Where did you learn Chao, anyway?" Tails asked.

"Chao Colony on Bordran VIII. Quite nice."

"Chao, Chao, Chao!" Cheese responded, seeming slightly annoyed.

"Really?" the Nomad asked.

"What did he say?" Tails asked, the only person in the room unable to understand Cheese.

"He said that they don't talk about those Chao," Cream explained.

"I did hear about a civil war somewhere," the Nomad mused. "Either way, that's not important. How are the guns coming?"

"Slowly," Tails said.

The Nomad picked one up and inspected it. "Good work, Tails!"

"Cream did a lot of the work, too," Tails said.

"You're being over-modest, Tails," Cream said. "I was just your assistant."

"Assistant all the same, you were a big help," the Nomad said, striding back into his TARDIS.

"That was... a relief," Shadow said in the war room, back with Rouge.

"I can imagine. Three Daleks for three of your men is one hell of a bargain," Rouge responded.

"We should be able to halt their progress now."

"I'd say we should do far more than that - we could go on the offensive, take the fight to them!"

"That would be unwise," Shadow stated simply. "Not yet, anyway."

"Alert! Alert! Three Daleks have been destroyed!" the Dalek Section Leader reported.

"Cause of destruction?" the Supreme Dalek demanded.

"Bastic bullets!" the Section Leader responded.

"Increase Dalek force."

"I obey."

Sonic dashed back inside the house.

"What did you see?" Sally asked as Sonic shut the door.

"Shadow and his men took out three Daleks with equal losses," Sonic said.

"That's good," Sally responded.

"Does that mean we can go on the offensive?" Amy asked.

"Once Tails and the Nomad have built more weapons," Sally responded.

The silver hedgehog and purple cat continued skulking down the street.

"We'll have to turn back, Blaze," the silver hedgehog said. "There are Daleks there."

"There's no way to evade them, Silver, our best chance is to fight," she responded. "It's just two, and two of us. If we can take them be surprise, we've got a chance."

"Alright," Silver said.

Blaze counted down using her fingers. Once she was finished, they both ran into the open. Silver used his powers of telekinesis, circles on his hands glowing bright green, to lift a Dalek up. Fire shot out from Blaze, burning another grey Dalek to a crisp, it screaming as it was destroyed. Silver used his telekinesis to lift and slam the Dalek into the ground until it was destroyed.

"We did it," Silver said.

"We're not done yet," Blaze responded. "It's only just begun. Come on."

The Nomad's eyes narrowed as a red light flashed on the console, with an accompanied warning beep. Tails heard this from outside and ran in. "What's going on," he asked.

"Exactly what I'm trying to find out," the Nomad muttered. "Realign the sensors. That panel, there," the Nomad said, gesturing to the panel opposite the one he was working at. Tails quickly ran over to it and flicked a few switches. "That's not possible..."

"What is it?"

"A time transference in this area. Could be Daleks."

"The Daleks can time travel?"

"The Daleks can do many things, Tails, but yes. It's quite close to here," the Nomad continued, flicking some more switches. "If it is Daleks, it's of an energy configuration I've never seen before. I'd almost say this time transference was naturally occurring..."

"Natural? What do you mean?"

"Tears in the fabric of the space-time continuum occasionally happen naturally, the energy patterns are generally random. It's over, anyway."

"Is it important?" Tails asked.

"Everything is important! Come on," the Nomad said, striding out. Tails followed.

Cream had already joined the others in the living room by the time Tails and the Nomad entered.

"I have some... interesting news," the Nomad said. "There's a time transference that occurred nearby, very recently."

"Meaning?" Knuckles asked.

"In English?" Amy added.

"Someone else traveled in time not far from here," Tails explained.

"From this timezone or to this timezone?" Sally asked.

The Nomad smiled. "Good question. As best I can tell, it was to this timezone, and from the future."

"How far?" Sonic asked.

"Impossible to be sure," the Nomad answered.

"Is it Daleks?" Sally asked.

"I don't think so."

Eggman watched the Daleks approach, and rolled his eyes at their cliched entrance.

"YOU ARE MY PRISONER! DO NOT MOVE!" the majority of them were shouting. Luckily, Eggman had just repaired his ship from the pilots seat and flew the Egg Mobile into the air on full power.

"So long, suckers!" he shouted as his engine exhaust caused the cave system to cave in, the avalanche destroying most of the Daleks. More Daleks were on top of the cave he had previously been trapped in, and fired at him. However, he expertly evaded most of their shots and the few he took did only minimal damage.

Blaze and Silver covertly approached the house that Tails' workshop was situated in. "I'll stay here," Blaze said, evidently commanding authority as the leader of this mission. "You go in."

"What if I need your help?"

"I'll go in if you need backup, but it's better if I take them by surprise, if they initially think you're the only attacker. It should just be a small group in there."

Silver nodded and walked up to the door. He then used his telekinetic powers to open the door.

"What's that?" Sonic asked as he heard the door creak open.

"I'll check," the Nomad said, gripping his staser in one hand and impulse laser in the other.

"I'll go too," Sally said.

The Nomad got a nice eyeful of the attractive chipmunk as he intentionally walked behind her up to the doorway, the others remaining in the living room. However, the two of them were suddenly flung against the wall, unable to move.

"What was that?" Amy asked, hearing the bang. She and Sonic strode to the doorway, with Silver levitating over to them, flinging them against the wall as well. Tails, Cream, Cheese, and Knuckles all saw this. While Cream was in a state of panic, Tails felt a need to be strong.

What would Sonic do? he wondered. He thought that Sonic would make some brave gesture and help his friends. But Tails was not Sonic. But he did look up to him.

"The time has come for your execution," Silver said.

"What did he do?" Amy asked.

"He let the Daleks take over!" Silver answered, using his telekinesis to begin to choke Sonic, his throat tightening. Amy and the Nomad both reached for their weapons, neither able to.

Cream squeezed Tails' hand, as if asking him to do something. Knuckles ran at Silver, but was also flung against the wall. Before he could talk himself out of it, Tails grabbed one of the guns he had built, loaded with bastic bullets, and aimed it at Silver.

"Put them down!" Tails shouted in a rare act of bravery. "Now!"

Tails suddenly felt himself losing control of his body as he was lifted off of the ground. However, as he did so, Cream hid behind him and Amy regained control of her own body, swinging her hammer at Silver in the head, but before the hammer made it, it was scorched by fire. The distraction enabled Sally to get free as well, and she tackled Blaze, who had projected the fire from the doorway. Amy picked up her hammer and whacked Silver, freeing Sonic, the Nomad, and Tails. As soon as Sonic was on the ground, Amy ran over to him and hugged him tightly.

"Sonic! Are you okay?!"

"Yes, but I'll suffocate again if you don't let me go!" he breathed.

The Nomad grabbed Blaze, placing his impulse laser to her head. Sally closed the door and got some wire to bind Blaze's hands. Tails put down the gun on the table and the Nomad stood up, keeping his laser trained on Blaze. "Good going, Tails. That was very brave of you."

"T-thanks, but - "

"Mr. Nomad is right, you were very brave!" Cream responded. "You saved all of us."

Tails could feel his face reddening, and decided not to admit that he was scared stiff by the situation. Silver was still on the ground, dazed from being hit by Amy's hammer, but Blaze was still wide awake and alert.

"Don't you understand what you've done?! You've doomed us all!" Blaze cried in a rare outburst of emotion. The Nomad walked over and knelt in front of her.

"Why?" he asked.

"That one - " she exclaimed, pointing at Sonic. "He lets the Daleks take control!"

"You're from the future," the Nomad surmised.

"What's it to you?" Blaze asked.

"I too am a time traveler," the Nomad said. "But that hedgehog there isn't your target. It's those Daleks outside! Sonic is trying to help us fight the Daleks! I don't know what sources you had, but they've almost certainly been tampered with by the Daleks."

"I'd like to speak with Silver once he's awake," Blaze said.

"Very well," the Nomad said. "Just don't try anything."

"Alert! Full alert! Time transference detected!" the Section Leader replied.

"Do you have the space-time coordinates?" the Supreme Dalek asked.

"Negative!"

"Find them! Exterminate them! Establish a time corridor!"

"I obey!"

Thorndyke Industries owned the biggest skyscraper in Station Square, but despite normally being bustling with activity, after being evacuated following the Dalek attack, was today completely silent. Due to this, Daleks were simply able to roll in, taking the elevator to the top floor.

"That's odd," Rouge said, monitoring Dalek movements. "They're taking the Thorndyke Skyscraper."

Shadow eyed the satellite monitor. "That is odd, yes. They must have something planned there."

"You're not planning an attack, are you?"

"Not just yet."

Silver was awake before too long, and as the Nomad promised, the two had been allowed to converse in private.

"What happened?" Silver asked.

"There were more of them than expected, they overpowered us," Blaze responded.

"We have to escape."

"One of them indicated that he was a time traveler as well, and that Sonic is not our enemy."

"And you believe him?"

"I'm not sure. It is possible that the Daleks could've tampered with our records and given us the name of a potential threat to exterminate to solidify their past victory."

"So what do we do?"

"There's nothing for us in our time. We can't hope to stop the Daleks then, but we could help to stop them now."

"You're saying we go along with them?"

"At least for now. Unless you have a better idea."

Silver had grown to respect Blaze's guidance. "No, of course not. Let's do it then."

"We've come to a decision!" Blaze announced. Sally and Sonic strode in first.

"What is it?" Sally asked.

"We're going to help you."

"Good," Sally said.

Sonic turned to her. "We're just going to let them go like that?"

"Yes," Sally whispered. "They seemed sincere in their belief that you were the enemy."

"And equally sincere in their desire to help us?" Sonic asked. Sally nodded, and Sonic knew the argument was over, so he released the bonds - the fact that the two had not used their abilities to escape was telling enough. However, there was suddenly a huge bang and crash heard from outside.

"What was that?!" the Nomad shouted. He grabbed one of the guns, loaded it, and dashed outside. Knuckles ran outside alongside him. Outside, the Egg Mobile had crashed into the ground, smoldering. Knuckles quickly readied his fists. "What is that thing?" the Nomad asked.

"One of Eggman's ships," Knuckles responded. "He's behind this!"

The Nomad pulled his machine gun, the clip fully loaded with bastic bullets as he and Knuckles walked up to it. In the drivers seat, unconscious and injured, was Dr. Eggman.

"EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!" could be heard from across the street as two Daleks approached. The Nomad quickly turned his gun on them and began spraying bullets in their direction. Dalek fire launched in their direction, striking the Nomad in his leg and the remains of the Egg Mobile. The Nomad fell to the ground, continuing to spray bullets at them.

"Get Eggman!" the Nomad shouted.

"You don't seriously expect me to lift him, do you?!" Knuckles asked, ducking to evade a Dalek blast as the two Daleks rolled closer, grabbing the Nomad's body and pulling him inside.

"We can't just leave him!" the Nomad shouted before being deposited on the doorstep. More Daleks could be seen rolling down the street. Knuckles punched one of the Daleks. The other one was about to fire on him when suddenly - a blue blur struck the Dalek and destroyed it. Sally ran out of the house spraying bullets with her machine gun, Amy ran out with her hammer, and the Tornado - Tails' biplane flew out of the top of the house, opening fire with lasers, raking the Daleks with energy blasts, destroying many. The Daleks returned fire at the Tornado, which Tails expertly dodged as the gang attacked the Daleks. Amy swung her hammer into a Dalek, destroying it. Sonic ran through two more, Knuckles punched another Dalek into pieces and Sally blew one apart with her gun. The Nomad struggled to his feet as he regained the feeling in his left leg. A Dalek was about to fire on Sally - he targeted its eyestalk with his impulse laser and fired, blasting off the eyestalk and sending it flying back, allowing the Tornado to strike it with a precision laser strike. Silver and Blaze were also destroying Daleks - Silver seizing them using his telekinesis and Blaze burning them to a crisp.

With the Dalek attack force taken care of, Eggman was at hand. The Nomad limped over, and everyone else walked over. The Nomad scanned him with his Sonic Screwdriver. "He's alive," he said.

Eggman's eyes opened. "You have to help me..."

"Why, Eggman? You were in league with the Daleks!" Sonic shouted.

"They turned on me," he croaked.

The Nomad nodded. "It is possible that Eggman has outlived his usefulness to the Daleks. I knew he could never really control them, they were just using him."

"They sure had fooled me," Eggman admitted.

"Can you walk?" Sally asked.

"Yes," Eggman said, struggling to his feet and walking inside. The others followed, Sally being the last one in, holding her nearly-empty gun out in case of any more Daleks. She shut the door. As Tails ran in, having just landed the Tornado, Sally said,

"We're going to need something a bit more sturdy in case the Daleks attack."

"Don't worry," Tails began. "I've got you covered."

Hitting a button on the wall, the windows were suddenly covered in metal, and a computerized voice said, "lockdown established."

"What just happened?" the Nomad asked.

"I've just secured the building. It'll take a while for the Daleks to blast through that."

"Good thinking!"

"N-now," Eggman began. "As I said, I need your help."
