A/N: Brallie never happened. I despise Brallie. This is set around season 3 but Ximena already exists because I love her.

TW FOR SELF HARM

Adopted? Callie thought to herself as she held her new birth certificate in her hands. She had been there when the judge had told her she was adopted, she had been there when she was ushered towards the judge's bench by Lena once he had lowered his hammer indicating she was officially adopted. She had been there when they ate cake afterwards. A cake that read: Callie Adams Foster.

But, actually holding her changed birth certificate in her hands was a different feeling entirely. Callie Adams Foster was something Callie said to herself multiple times a day because it still felt surreal and when Stef and Lena called her to the kitchen she was overwhelmed by the thousands of thoughts rushing through her head when they handed her the birth certificate. Callie Adams Foster.

Callie could still vividly remember when Jude had received his birth certificate, he had been so happy. Telling everyone to clean their fingers before touching it, or even looking at it. But Callie could also vividly remember what she had felt, happiness mingled with so much pain and jealousy. She could remember how her body rocked from her sobs that night in the shower as she repeated the words Lena had uttered to her in her head: It'll be your turn soon. She had given all hope of ever getting adopted up at that point, yet here she was. In her kitchen, holding her birth certificate.

''Well?'' Stef uttered after Callie had been quite for a while, ''how does it feel?''. Callie looked up dazed, she didn't want to offend them, her mom's. And she could see both women were eyeing her confused. '' I-…'' Callie stammered, but she regrouped herself fairly quickly after that '' It feels great, I feel great'' she smiled as she made her wat over towards Stef. '' Thank you so much Stef'' Callie smiled as she hugged her before making her way over towards Lena '' Thank you Lena'' Callie had uttered softly. Callie left her birth certificate on the kitchen counter in between a confused looking Lena and Stef.

She was halfway up the stairs when she heard Lena wonder why Callie hadn't called them mom or mama yet. Callie didn't wait for Stef's reply before rushing into the room she shared with Mariana. Mariana was out with Emma, so she had the room to herself, something that rarely ever happened.

Callie sank down on her bed as her eyes wandered over the wall next to it, covered which pictures she took. A picture of her mother in the center of them. Stef and Lena had always told her they would in no way try to replace her mother, but wasn't Callie replacing her mother when she started calling Stef and Lena mom and mama. Callie placed her head on the bed before reaching for her phone, she was tempted to call Ximena, but she was worried Ximena had too much on her mind. She didn't need Callie whining about her adoption.

Rita? She could call Rita Callie thought to herself, but she knew Rita was busy with Girls United and with creating a better foster care bill.

She placed her right hand on her forehead in frustration as she massaged her temple, she hated the feelings going through her body. She was incredibly thankful that she was adopted by Stef and Lena, but she was also incredibly sad and scared. Callie needed a release: she knew who to call.

He had assured her he'd be there in 20 minutes, so Callie got dressed in a knit sweater and plain black jeans before heading down the stairs where Stef and Lena were still in a heated discussion '' Hey there love'' Stef smiled when she noticed the brunette reach for her jacket ''I'm going out with Wyatt. Is that okay?'' Callie asked, her foot already halfway out the door. '' Wyatt?'' Lena asked surprised, '' I didn't know you two were hanging out again?'' she added. '' Oh, yeh'' shrugged Callie, eager to leave the house and their prying eyes. '' Okay, well, be home by 6 for dinner'' Stef said after exchanging a few glances with Lena. ''Okay, cool. Sure. Bye'' Callie replied, '' and keep your phone on'' Stef shouted before the door closed behind Callie.

Callie climbed in the car that had stopped in front of the house, she greeted Wyatt whom eyed her worriedly before he started the engine. '' Beach?'' he asked, to which Callie only murmured in agreement. The drive to the beach was in silence, only filled with the sounds of the soft indie band Wyatt had started listening to a few weeks back. That was the only thing he had said to her during the ride towards the beach.

Callie was the first to get out of the car once Wyatt had parked the car, he followed behind her and watched as she sank down in the sand, her shoes discarded to the side. ''Did you bring it?'' Callie asked once Wyatt sank down next to her, his flannel blouse immediately covered with sand. ''Are you sure?'' he asked before pulling something out of his bag, '' I wouldn't have called you if I weren't'' Callie dryly said as she took it from him.

Wyatt watched as Callie lit the joint he had given her. ''Do you want to talk about it?'' Wyatt asked after a few minutes, ''no''. Wyatt sighed defeated before laying his back down on the sand, Callie followed this once she had finished the joint. ''I'm adopted'' Callie softly said, '' I know. Congratulations''. ''I'm scared'' Callie softly said, Wyatt turned his body so that he lay on his side facing Callie '' aren't we all''.

Callie arrived home a few minutes after six, her bloodshot eyes had diminished to such an extent that she could claim it was from being tired. The entire family was already seated around the table and she could see Lena glance in the direction of the clock before landing her eyes on Callie. '' Six o'clock is six o'clock Callie'' Stef said as Callie took a seat next to Brandon. ''I know, I'm sorry. Traffic lights were not in our advantage'' Callie explained.

Her back against the locked bathroom door was the only thing that ensured she was safe. She had locked it, so she was the only one to unlock it. Except Stef who could probably break the door down in a few seconds. She reached for the toiletry kit she kept hidden behind some old cleaning supplies in the bathroom cabinet.

The first time that she felt relieved since she had seen her birth certificate was the moment the cold blade marked her skin, and she watched as blood seeped out of the wound. She made a few more cuts until she was sure she had gotten her frustrations out. She skillfully bandaged her wrist, an act she had done countless of times.

She cleaned up some blood from the bathroom floor before pushing her pyjama shirt sleeve down to cover her bandaged wrist. She plastered on a smile before walking back into her shared room with Mariana, she plopped down on the bed and listened as Mariana told her about her crush on Matt.

Callie didn't actually listen because her mind was free, it was empty. Even though she knew, it would be filled up again, when tomorrow comes.
