Hey guys, sorry for the long wait, but this was a long chapter to write and I hope you can forgive me...

Anyway, just a heads up:

I'm still going to write this and my other stories, but it will take me a while because of doing a winter class, so my education always comes first and I hope you can understand. Don't worry, more will be coming around soon but not for a while.

Anyway, here is Chapter 2, and I hope you enjoy it.

Gargoyles belong to Greg Weisman while I own Chelsea.

Castle Wyvern-994 AD. 18 years later

Battle cries echoed around the castle, and inhumane roars were heard up in the night sky. Screams were heard from fallen Vikings, and screeches of the creatures of the night, the gargoyles, were taking down as much as the enemy as they can. It was the usual, a war between the enemy Vikings wanting to take over Castle Wyvern because of their hunger for power, but with the gargoyles fighting that's not gonna happen.

Taking down one of the Vikings was a young female gargoyle, with robin's egg colored skin, long dark wings carrying her slightly muscled hourglass body, her dark mahogany hair blowing down to her lower back, and two horns coming out of her neat mane and curve backward with the tips sort of up at the end. She was wearing a neat one-shouldered white dress with a dark belt around her waist, two gold hoops hanging on her ears, a golden ring on her left horn, and a small round opal necklace hanging over her upper chest.

She laughed as she carried a young Viking who was attacking someone from behind and rose up to watch the battle along with her brethren. Protecting her home from enemy Vikings and feeling the wind currents under her wings never gets old for the female. This is what she was born to do and doesn't want to do anything else.

Looking over at one of the towers, she saw a trio of three males looking down at the battle. She chuckled softly at the red one with long white hair and a beak-like face looking as if itching for a good fight.

"What are you three doing up here?" The female asked landing behind the three. The trio turned to look at her as she came over to them with a smirk as she pointed downwards. "The battle is down there."

"We just wanted you to get a head start." The red chuckled as he turned to her.

"A head start huh?" she laughed, then jumped on the stone railing and smirked at him. "Well, you better catch up because I'm off to a good start!" She spread her long wings to their full length. "First to 30 wins!"

"Oh you're on!" he laughed as he and the female jumped off the tower and down to the fight below.

Left on the tower was a small green gargoyle with webbed wings and a large aqua blue gargoyle with a potbelly stomach. The green one turned to his comrade with a smirk.

"Not afraid, are you?" he teased.

"Afraid?" the aqua gargoyle asked standing up straight and pointing at himself. "Me? Huh! Why all of nature's trembles in my passing!" he proclaimed, lifting his belly up making him lean until gravity brought it down to his original potbelly shape.

"I can see why." The green gargoyle laughed as he poked the aqua's stomach, then they both glided down toward the fight.

The female glided down toward a Viking and tearing down his shield. The Viking screamed as he tried to slice her with a sword, but her speed and agility was no match for him. Her eyes glowed pearly white as she snarled like a leopard missing his swings. Using her tail, she hit the Viking at his feet, and he dropped down to the ground as his sword fell out of his hands. With a quick snarl, she picked up the man and flung him a few feet away, but she wasn't done yet.

Another Viking went behind her with an ax over his head and looked ready to bring it down on her. She looked behind her and quickly jumped away, only to have her right arm getting slashed in the process. She exclaimed inhumanly as she grasped her arm, then turned to her opponent with a snarl. That didn't make her end, it only made her angrier. She hissed again as she grabbed the Viking by the front and threw him over her head hitting another Viking in the process against the wall.

She jumped in the air catching an updraft away from the fight and looked at her arm. She inhaled her breath, not liking the bloody gash on her right arm. She landed on an empty part of the battlements as she quickly inspected her arm. She's not freaked out about the blood but fighting with it is never a good plan. Suddenly, a shadow darkened over her arm and form. She turned with a gasp as a larger Viking had a large sword over his head, and eyes gleaming malice. The female was about to fight until a streak of red tackled the Viking and he fell over the wall with a scream and a thump as he landed on the hard ground.

The female turned, and it was the red gargoyle who saved her. She scoffed and crossed her arms.

"I almost had him!" she boasted.

"Really? I didn't notice." The red one replied with a teasing smile. He looked down at her arm with wide eyes as his smile melted into a look of horror. "You're hurt!"

"No, I'm not." The female brought her right arm behind her back thinking he wouldn't notice. She gritted her teeth with the bloody gash stinging a little.

"Don't lie to me, I can smell the blood from your arm." The red one went over and grabbed her arm before she could say anything. He inspected her arm with great intent, which made the female feel heat rise up from her cheeks as if she were blushing.

"I told you, I'm-" She was about to say something until he took a piece of cloth-like bandage and carefully wrapped it around her upper arm. The female didn't know where he got the piece of bandage but didn't ask as he looked like he was concentrating. When he finished, he tied the bandage in a snug but tight knot near her elbow.

"There, that will hold." The red one said as he looked at her. They were sort of about the same height, but the red one was a few inches taller than the female if he wasn't crouching in his natural position.

"Thank you." The female said looking down at her bandage that went from her elbow to the middle of her arm with a small smile. The red one nodded, then he and the female went back down to the battle.

Over at another part of the battlements, the older gargoyle was fighting with a couple of Vikings with his bare hands. As he was fighting enemy soldiers upon the stairs, he did not notice another Viking who was about to club him from behind. He would have been in trouble if not for the tall male, Goliath, as he grabbed the man in half swing and threw him over the edge as he and the older one watched him fall.

Goliath turned to the older one. "Watch your back old friend."

"Hmph, watch your own." The old one said with a smirk, then he continued to fight.

At another part of the battle, the captain of the guard (Who was an aging man wearing battle armor, a dark green cape, aging gray hair, and a long mustache) was fighting a couple of Vikings. As he fought, he destroyed a Viking's sword with his mace and kicked the Viking off the battlements and down below. Alongside him, Goliath put up a good fight as he fought with two Vikings and swung them away with his tail, and gave out a roar.

"Why thanks Goliath," the captain turned to the gargoyle leader.

"I could not do otherwise."

"These rogues no doubt followed that band of refugees we gave shelter to last night."

Over at another part of the castle, the huge band of refugees the captain was talking about was surrounding themselves by a couple of fires as the battle waged on. Out of nowhere, the aqua gargoyle from the trio band glided downward and landed above where the refugees' stock of food was. Over by the closest fires, a young boy with shaggy blonde hair and wearing ragged clothes saw the gargoyle then grabbed his mother's arms.

"Look mother," the boy said pointing at the gargoyle.

The gargoyle looked down and took one of the large turkey legs and took large bites from it. The mother and child looked at him with curious expressions as he was enjoying the food. As the gargoyle was eating, two warriors were fighting near him oblivious he was there from the start. With perfect aim, the gargoyle clubbed the Viking on the head and collapsed down in an instant. The boy gave a smile as he gazed upward at the gargoyles with awe.

Over at another part, the lead Viking, Hakon, was catching his breath after fighting his enemies which included the gargoyles. He never knew that gargoyles were that powerful in not only strength, but they use the air as their advantage as well. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard growling behind him. Hakon jumped back when a gargoyle beast, who had no wings, light blue skin with a lighter belly, webbed ears, and glowing white eyes, stalked toward him as he snarled. The beast continued to growl as he lunged toward Hakon who dodged but not before seeing the beast left deep claw marks into the stone wall.

With the dog away and not going after him, Hakon turned and ran toward the closest tower. Just as he entered through the doorway, he stopped and gasped with fright. Blocking his path was another female gargoyle with light blue skin, this time with wild long red hair and eerie red eyes. Her wings were wrapped around her hourglass body until they opened up to reveal her wearing white two-piece clothing.

She glanced down at Hakon with a hard look. "Face me human if you dare." She challenged with a dark voice, then showed her fangs and hissed.

Hakon turned tailed out of the tower and was blocked again by the gargoyle beast. He was trapped with the female behind him and the beast in front of him. Suddenly, Goliath landed on the battlements on Hakon's right.

"I see you met our watchdog," Goliath said as the female hissed behind the Viking with her claws out getting ready to strike. "And my second in command as well." Hakon was then grabbed by the leader and was lifted up a few feet. "I grow tired of this, take what's left of your men, and be gone!" he yelled as he threw Hakon off the battlements. He plummeted down but softly landed in a cart full of hay but shattered upon impact.

Once Hakon got back up, he turned and yelled up at Goliath. "This isn't over monster! I'll be back!"

When the Viking turned away, Goliath and the second turned to one other with smiles.

Up in the sky, the brown-headed female smirked as she held an enemy Viking's sword and looking at her reflection. Alongside her, the red one tossed a battered up shield and turned to her with a smirk.

"How far along are you?" the red smirked.

The female turned to him as she dropped the sword near an empty clearing. She shrugged. "Don't know, but I do know I fought a lot more unlike you." She teased.

"Wanna bet?" the red one smirked as he looked for who will be his next prey. He chuckled darkly as he dove down and grabbed two Vikings and carried them a couple of meters until he threw them out of the castle. He laughed as he saw them getting dropped in the mud and running away like cowards.

When he flew back up at the female, he gave her a smirk. "That's…let's see, from the two I threw out, that makes me 27. Not so bad for a warrior as myself."

"Really?" the female rolled her eyes with a cheeky smile. "Well, from my head start to now, that makes me 29. I win. Sorry." She laughed at the red one's wide-eyed look as she dove down with the other gargoyles at the front battlements.

"Now wait a minute, what about that one that I saved you from?! You would have been sliced if not for me." the red one countered as he dove after her.

The female landed and made a quizzical look with her right claw under her chin. "Hmm, you know I think you're right." She then turned to him as he landed. She gave a sheepish smile and a shrug. "Too bad, I guess it's a draw."

"There's always next time." The red one said with a smile as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders to watch the Vikings flee like cowards. Ever since they were little, they were considered close friends along with the green and aqua gargoyle, so the red one's arm around her doesn't bother her or make her awkward.

As the gargoyles watched, the soldiers shot arrows at the retreating Vikings as they cheered, for they have won the battle!

"Victory for the gargoyles!" yelled one soldier.

"They'll think twice before coming back," yelled another soldier.

The trio looked at one another with satisfaction as they put on brave faces, which made the female give a soft chuckle. Next to them, the second was wrapping a bandage around Goliath's left claw that was cut from Hakon's sword.

"Goliath," the captain said to the lead gargoyle. "We owe you our lives."

"As we owe you ours every day." Goliath smiled as he examined his finished bandaged hand.

The female looked back at her leader with a warm smile. She whispered to the red one's ear, he smiled as he whispered back which made her chuckle. He soon let her go and she went to her leader and second. Once the second saw her, she gasped as she saw the female's bandaged arm.

"What happened?!" the second demanded as she looked down at her arm then to her with a look of fury and worry.

"Uh," the female sweatdropped, embarrassed by the extra attention from the second. Ever since she was a hatchling, she was considered the leader's 'favorite' of the clan because of her being found alone in the clearing where she was found and thought her other clan didn't want her as much as her new clan wants her.

"I'm alright, it was just a cut." The female heard a snort and a 'Yeah right' from the red one behind her. She rolled her eyes, then with a sly smile, she used her tail to playfully smack him in the back. She was satisfied when he heard him grunt with surprise.

The second sighed as Goliath smiled. He ruffled the female's hair playfully which made her blush out of embarrassment with the extra attention, and she quickly brushed her leader's talons away from her as she tried to smooth her now wild mane of hair.

"Why do you still do this to me?" the female huffed as she tried to smooth her hair down but wasn't having any luck as her thick hair was now becoming static. Even as a full-grown gargoyle, she was still treated like a hatchling to Goliath and his second. The leader rumbled a chuckle as he gazed down at her with a smile.

"Goliath," the captain turned the leader. "You should join us for the banquet. You deserve to be there as much as everyone else."

The moment the captain said those words, the female stopped what she was doing and made a confused look toward the captain.

In the great dining hall, from what the captain said there was a huge banquet in celebrating the victory against the Vikings. There was fine food, endless goblets of wine, and festive music filled the room as the people celebrated.

Sitting at a high table in front of the fire, Princess Katherine, the late Prince Malcolm's daughter, sat in total silence as the servers placed fresh fruit next to her. Next to her on her right at the edge of a long table, the Magus lifted a goblet of wine as he too was celebrating the victory.

Across at another table, two men were enjoying their feast and having a hearty conversation. "I don't mind telling you, I thought we were under the sword there for a while." The first one commented lifting his goblet.

"Aye," his neighbor said lifting a turkey leg. "A fine soldier is our captain of the guard."

The first man laughed. "Captain of the Gargoyles, you mean!"

Unbeknownst to them, the captain was just walking past them when he heard them talking about him.

"He'd fit right well on the cornices with them. It's a fact." The second said and both of them laughed a hearty laugh.

The captain looked down as if he were ashamed. Ever since he was awarded captain of the guard, he wasn't considered an equal to the other soldiers because of him treating the gargoyles as warriors than monsters like the other people. He was the only man who treated the gargoyles with respect while the other people thought of them as monsters because of their looks and them having superior strength and flight. He sighed, then continued forward to sit in his spot at the table by the Princess.

As he took his seat, the princess turned to him with a smile. "Our thanks for a battle well fought good captain."

"The credit is not mine to take your highness," the captain answered. "Without Goliath and his gargoyles, our defense would have proven useless."

The Magus, who had been hearing everything, looked at the Captain with a hard look. The princess especially looked taken aback, but she recovered quickly.

"Please, don't mention that monster's name in my presence." She said with disgust. For all her life, she especially hated the gargoyles ever since she first laid eyes on one long ago as much as her people, but her hate was far worse.

Suddenly, the large doors were heard opening at the front. Everyone in the hall looked over and gasped with shock. People were either dropping their glasses or food as they never expected who came.

At the door, three dark silhouettes were shown, and they weren't human. They were Goliath, his second, and the female gargoyle with the bandaged arm. Goliath gave out a low growl and narrowed his eyes.

The three gargoyles entered as the people looked at them with disgust. The female gulped as she saw the peoples disgusted and look of horror. She knew she shouldn't be upset that she and her kind aren't accepted yet by all the people of the castle, but she feels that they shouldn't be afraid. She and her kind would never harm them.

As the princess and the people looked at them with disgust and horror, the captain came in front of her. "Beg your pardon, your highness." He said. "I took the liberty of asking them to appear and be recognized for their bravery."

Princess Katherine didn't look too pleased as she rose from her chair and looked down at the captain with a hard look. "Captain, we are most seriously displeased. To allow beasts in the dining hall."

The female shuddered as being called that word. Beast…is that all she and her kind are to the princess?

"You speak wisely, princess." The Magus said rising from his chair. "These are unnatural creatures. No good can come associating with them." he ended with venom in his voice.

Goliath and his group stepped forward, which made the princess taking a little step back as they came closer to her. When they stopped, Goliath came forward and extended his wings to their full length, which made the princess trip and fall back into her seat with a look of fear edged on her face. Goliath then folded his wings like a cape, and the large gargoyle gave a sweeping bow towards the princess. The princess looked surprised at the gesture but didn't say anything.

"Goliath," the captain said placing a hand on the leader of the gargoyles. "We named you well it seems. You are as good as the philistine giant who fought David."

"You would do well to remember captain, that the Biblical Goliath was also a bully and a savage." The princess said with hatred in her voice once again.

The second hissed in anger and her eyes glowed an eerie red. Before she could pounce on Katherine, the female held her shoulders as she glared at the Princess.

"You may say that your highness," the female said as the princess turned to her with surprise. Goliath and the second turned to her as they didn't expect her to speak. "The biblical Goliath was a savage from the stories you humans read called the Bible, but even with a name, it does not define who my leader is. The name is merely a word, a phrase in which we don't understand like you humans. And also to remind you your highness…is that both Goliaths are entirely different, one fights like a bully while the other fights with bravery and honor."

Princess Katherine looked taken aback by what the gargoyle was saying.

"Perhaps your highness," the female snarled pointing a claw at her. "It is you who is that bully." She stopped as Goliath placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at her leader, then turned away with shame as she saw his hard look.

"If you'll excuse us, your highness," Goliath said taking the female away with the second following them before she glared back at the princess with hatred.

The princess turned to the Captain who watched them exit. "In the future captain, you will make your reports to my advisor the Magus, not directly to me!" she ended with a hard look.

The captain turned to the Magus who made a smug look, then with his cape flowing behind him, he exited the hall with a new form of anger flowing through him.

"My apologies for this Goliath," the captain said as he followed the three gargoyles down the hall.

"Mine as well," the female looked down with a sad look. "I know what I said was rude and uncalled for, but I couldn't help but be angry for her by judging you because of your name."

"No apologies needed," Goliath said as he turned to the group. "We are what we are, her opinion will no change that."

The female turned away with a look of guilt-edged on her face. She felt a claw on her shoulder, but she knew it was the seconds.

"Have you no pride?" the second asked with a rise of anger. "No sense of justice? We saved them and they repay us with contempt?"

"She is right Goliath," the captain said. "You deserve better than this."

The second let go of the female's shoulder as she tightened her fists. "These cliffs were our home ages before they built their stone fortress. They should bow to us."

"Even if they bow," the female spoke up as the two turned to her. "They would still hate and fear us for our looks and our species."

"It is the nature of humankind to fear what they do not understand," Goliath said taking the seconds hand as he looked at her and the young female. "Their ways are not our ways."

The female nodded in understanding, but still had some doubts about the humans. It's not that she hates them like the second, but she doesn't understand why the humans see them as monsters than protectors.

The second sighed as she looked up at him lovingly. "There are times when your patience astounds me, my love."

The female looked down with a small frown edged on her face. If Goliath's words are very well true, then they're probably still is a chance, but she is not sure. She just doesn't understand why the princess holds so much fear and anger at her kind? Not only that, but she doesn't understand why the pain from her hatred lingers in her soul?

It was sunrise at Castle Wyvern, and the gargoyles were asleep. By asleep, they all turn into stone statues when the sun comes up. All stood with their frightful looks and powerful stances as if there still protecting the castle from darker demons.

The female stood with the trio with her wings open, her legs crouched with her left arm supporting her, and her right arm out with still her bandage on. Over at another tower, the second stood with the same frightful look, and Goliath stood up top crouched down still with his bandage on as well.

Down at the main door of the castle, a hooded figure was riding out of the castle toward an unexpected acquaintance.

A few miles away from the castle, lay the Vikings who camped near the mountains, but as well close to the castle. The hooded figure stood before Hakon, who was sitting down eating a cooked pheasant.

"You seek the fall of castle Wyvern?" the figure asked with a light voice.

Hakon looked up at the figure with a look of intrigue. "What of it?"

"Perhaps a Bargain can be made."

That made Hakon threw his meal to the dogs. He smirked. "I'm listening."

When the sunset, the gargoyles awoke out of their stone sleep feeling refreshed from their slumber. At the main tower, Goliath was unbandaging his hand and found it completely healed as he flexed his claws.

"Those Vikings may return at daybreak Goliath," the Captain said standing next to the second. "I say take all your gargoyles and make sure they're gone."

"I agree," the second said pulling out her fist. "Let us go out in force and put an end to these pigs once and for all."

Goliath turned to them. "Too dangerous. I don't want to leave the castle unprotected."

"Their leader swore he'd be back." The captain pressed on. "It's best to harry them far away now and not take that chance."

The leader sighed at the captain's words. He does have a point. "Very well," he turned to them. "But I shall do it." He turned away with them with a look of pride or confidence. "I can scare those cowards away without any help."

"That's too dangerous for you," the second said walking up to him. "Let me come along at least."

"You and the others will stay with the castle. You are my best warrior. I leave you in command."

"No," the second shook her head. "I cannot let you."

"I won't go alone." Goliath looked down at her as he held her by her shoulders. "Remember, you and I are one…Now and forever…"

He turned away from her before she could say anything else.

"I still don't believe how we do it?" The female said as she looked at her arm that no longer has the large gash from last night. She was sitting on a crate near the campfire as she was inspecting her arm. "It still fascinates me that we heal during the day as stone beings and injuries are gone as soon as we-."

She stopped as she heard the aqua gargoyle chewing loudly to her right. She turned to him who was stuffing his face full of different types of food from fruits, to raw vegetables, to even the meats that were there in baskets or crates.

"How do you keep all that in there?" she asked with a slightly disgusted look. "Do you ever get tired of eating, or get sick?"

The aqua gargoyle stopped as he turned to her with a smile. "Nope, you want some?" he asked with some food in his mouth as he held out a piece of fruit to her.

The female gave a small laugh but shook her head. "Thanks, but you can have it. I'm watching my weight anyway."

The aqua gargoyle shrugged, then downed that piece of fruit in an instant. The female shook her head on how he can eat all that food in one day.

"Catch!" her attention was turned to the green and red gargoyle who were tossing a large ham and keeping it away from the gargoyle beast who was trying to eat it.

"No, back this way! Back this way! Over here!" the red one exclaimed standing on a couple of crates.

The female laughed at the two were trying to keep the ham away from the gargoyle beast. She never saw this much fun since they were young. Even if there considered full-grown, they still act like hatchlings from time to time.

The red one tossed the ham to the green one. Just as the green one was about to catch it, a figure jumped over him and caught the meat instead and landed gracefully on the ground.

"Hey!" the green one exclaimed. He and the red one looked as it was the female who caught it with a cheeky smile.

"What?" the female teased tossing the ham in her claws easily. "I can't play either?"

The red and green looked at one another with narrowed eyes and smirks, then looked at her with the same smirks. The gargoyle beast panted as he looked to be ready to move.

The female gulped and made a sheepish laugh and smile. "I guess that's a yes?"

Her answer was the red and green gargoyle were chasing the female around the campfire. She made three laps around the fire with no problem until the red one wrapped an arm around her waist as he tried to take it from her, but she threw it toward the green one.

"Hey, I don't have it anymore." The female laughed as the red one didn't let go of her around her waist.

The red one laughed. "I know."

The female blushed then tried to get out of his grip, but to no avail as the male kept a hold on her. She was saved when the gargoyle beast tried to tackle them, but both gargoyles dodged before they could get hit. The female hopped back on the crates as she watched the green one throwing the ham to the red one, and then jumped up next to the female with such agile reflexes.

Above them, the second in command was looking down at them from one of the towers with a small smile edged on her face. From last night she was concerned for the young female since she looked depressed after the incident in the dining hall, but seeing her with the three young males, the second knew she would be alright. Ever since the night she found her as a hatching, she has the female in a special place in her heart like a mother loving her child (even though gargoyles consider all hatchings as their own).

Back down below, the boy with the blonde hair was walking toward the group with a bit of curiosity, and possibly a little fear. The female turned to see him but didn't say anything to scare the lad.

"Hey pass it here!" the green one yelled as the red one hurled the ham once more, only for the gargoyle beast to jump in the air to catch it in its jaws and walk away to eat his new meal.

The female chuckled as the two males groaned that their game was over. She turned over to the little boy who froze when he looked at her.

"Hello," the female waved at the boy, which made the males turned to who the female was talking to.

The boy stood up straight and gave a brave face. "I'm Tom, what's your names?"

The female hid a small chuckle as the green one answered. "Except for Goliath, we don't have names."

"How do you tell each other apart?"

"Well Tom," the female said in a gentle voice. "We do look different, and none of us look the same."

"But what do you call each other?" the boy asked.

"Friend." The red one answered wrapping an arm around the female's shoulders. The female leaned her head over to the male's right shoulder showing that they're close.

The boy looked at the female with a look of awe. "Your necklace,"

The female straightened up from the red one hold and looked down at her necklace. She gently caressed the round opal with such care, then she looked at the boy. "What of it Tom?"

"Nothing, it's just I've never seen anything like that before. It's so pretty."

The female smiled and nodded. Before she could say thank you, the mother of the boy ran toward him and brought him behind her.

"Tom! Get away from those monsters!" she yelled as the gargoyles looked at each other with confusion.

"But mother," Tom tried to speak, but the mother didn't let him.

The red gargoyle let go of the female and jumped off the crates holding out his arms in a nonthreatening manner. "We wouldn't hurt the lad, ma'am."

"Keep away from him you beast!" the woman yelled throwing a block of wood at the gargoyle. The wood hit his mark on his shoulder as he turned away clutching his arm.

The female gasped and jumped down and stood next to her friend. "You alright?" The red one nodded, then the female turned to Tom's mother with both anger and confusion. "What are you doing? We've done nothing to your son, we were just-"

"I said keep away!" the mother yelled as she picked up a rock and threw it at the female, which hit its mark by smacking on her forehead. She exclaimed as she pressed her palm to her forehead.

Suddenly, the second dove down and landed right in front of the three gargoyles. The second looked back at the female, who still looked edged in pain as the red one checked on her, then she turned and glared at the woman.

"You're the beast human." The second growled as her eyes glowed eerie red.

"No," the red stood in front of the second with a smirk of his own. "If they think we're monsters-"

"Then we best live up to the name…" the green one ended as both males' eyes glowed as they snarled and showed their claws at the humans who gathered to watch the scene.

The female groaned as her head pounded as she massaged her forehead. She looked down at her hand relieved that she didn't see blood, but she knew she was going to have a knot or bruise on her head for the rest of the night.

She turned to the others who were snarling and bring out their claws to frighten the humans.

She went behind the second with a look of fear. "What are you doing? Why are they scaring them?"

The second turned to her with a mix of confusion and anger. "They must understand young one, all humans must learn to never mess with us."

The female gulped at her seconds words, then she turned to Tom, who was clutching his mother's skirt tightly, and was looking at her friends in fear. Seconds ago they were just talking with no fear or anger… She saw that the gargoyle beast was growling along with the two males as the second was smirking with her taloned hands on her hips and the humans were running away with fear.

"What is this?" the aqua gargoyle asked with fear as he tried to collect as much food in his claws as possible. "Are we being attacked again?!"

Just before the female could answer, Goliath and the old one landed in the middle of the courtyard with looks of anger edged on their faces. The red and green one gasped as the aqua one walked toward them with confusion. The female stood next to the aqua gargoyle with a look of fear edged on her face.

"You four," Goliath growled pointing at them. "Down into the rookery, until I return, I'll deal with you then."

The three males gasped as the female took a step forward. "Goliath I can explain-"

Goliath's growl made the female stop as she took a step back with her friends and her head hung low.

"And take him with you," Goliath added pointing at the gargoyle beast who whimpered with sadness.

At the entrance to the rookery, the green one pushed the doors open as everyone (minus the old one) stood at the entrance.

"We meant no harm." The red one turned to Goliath to placate him, but it didn't work as the leader's glare didn't falter. Slowly but surely, the trio, the guard dog, and lastly the female entered the rookery slowly. When the doors closed, the second turned to her mate with a hard look.

"Are you blind?" the second said with anger. "They were not at fault, the humans were!"

"No matter who was at fault," Goliath replied. "I cannot condone violence between their people and ours." He sighed. "I will make it up to them later. For now, I have business to attend to."

Goliath turned away heading toward the towers to glide away. The female watched him go, she wanted to say something else to him but decided against it. She looked toward the doors, wondering how the female is doing down there.

"Ugh, sent to the rookery, how embarrassing." The red one groaned.

As the green one was looking down at the clutch of gargoyle eggs, the aqua one was looking around. "I haven't been down here since I hatched." He went over to a wall that was covered in moss. He peeled a little bit of the moss as he inspected it by sniffing it. With the most insane thing, he opened his mouth and ate the piece of moss and looked like he enjoyed it…

The green one looked at him with a disgusted look on his face. "I hope we're down here long; he might eat us."

The red one shuddered, then turned away from the two. He looked around, not seeing the female anywhere. He knew she came down with them, but she was very quiet not wanting to talk to them. After a few seconds, he found her in the dark corner leaning up against the wall with her wings capped, her arms wrapped around her legs, and her eyes looking down giving a look of sadness. He walked a few steps toward her, knowing something was bothering her, but stopped a few feet away from her.

"Hey," the red one whispered. "You okay?"

The female didn't turn to him. She kept looking down with a small frown. She sighed. "Did you see the look on the boy's face?" she whispered with a bit of hurt. "He was so scared…"

The red took a spot next to her on her left. He didn't know what to say to her, nor he didn't want to say anything that could offend her. He looked at her as if he were going to say something, but she beat him.

"Wh-Why does the humans hate us so much?" the female whispered with her voice cracking at the end. "We have never harmed them…"

The red one did have to say anything. All he could do was wrap her in a tight hug with his wings cocooning them both as she softly cried on his chest. He felt her claws clutching around his waist like she needed to be with someone close as she wept. He rested his head over hers as he petted her back with gentle comfort.

In the forests near the castle, Goliath and the old one were following horse tracks from the Vikings. The old one was suspicious of them because of how light the hoof prints were for carrying armored men… Goliath thought about it, but he still needed to make sure.

"It's not long until sunrise," the old one advised looking down at the dimly lit forest. He turned to his leader who was looking down. "Perhaps we should return."

"There they are!" Goliath pointed down toward seeing their target. Enemy Vikings leading a whole herd of horses.

The gargoyles screeched as they dove down toward the Vikings to scare them off. The Vikings screamed as the horses stampeded around the forest and then ran toward one direction away from the gargoyles who landed.

Goliath looked over at the last of the horses who ran off, a look of realization edged on his face. "They were leading the horses to decoy us from the castle!"

Goliath and the old one ran on all fours out of the forest. By the time they reached the cliffs to glide toward the castle, the sun was almost rising on the horizon.

"We're too late!" the old one exclaimed.

The sun had risen and Goliath and the old one had to shield their eyes. As the rays touched their skin, it started to turn from flesh to solid granite and freeze them from where they're standing.

They were now two stone gargoyles again…

At castle Wyvern, Hakon and his men were standing just a few yards from the entrance of the castle. The Viking leader took out his sword and lifted it to the air.

"ATTACK!"

After Hakon's yell, the Vikings roared with their weapons in the air as they ran toward the castle.

At Wyvern's battlements, the archers were aiming their arrows at their enemies until…SNAP! There bow strings snapped that made the archer exclaimed with worry as the Vikings entered the castle gates and we're quickly winning the battle…

"Captain! Captain!" Princess Katherine exclaimed from her quarters and coming down the stairs toward the captain who was slowly walking up the stairs. "The Vikings Captain, we're attacked!"

Instead of the Captain telling her to leave, he grabbed her by the wrist and glared at her.

"It is worst than that your highness." Captain sneered.

That evening, Castle Wyvern had been taken over by the Vikings. The refugees, including Tom, Princess Katherine, and the Magus were being taken away toward the Viking's refuge.

"Not that I'm ungrateful for your help but…" Hakon said looking over the people leaving from the battlements. He turned to the Captain. "Why? Why betray your own kind?"

The captain gritted his teeth and shook his head. "They are not my kind…"

Hakon walked toward a stone gargoyle who was perched near them. The Viking lifted his mace up looking ready to smash it down. "Well, to work. There's little enough time for it."

Just as he was about to smash the statue, a hand stopped him from destroying it. Hakon turned to the Captain with wide eyes.

"This is unnecessary," Captain exclaimed.

"Are you mad?" Hakon looked at him like he was crazy. "In a moment they'll be flesh again and my men will be their prey."

"Once your band is out of sight, they won't follow," The Captain explained. "It's not their nature."

"Ah, well, in that case…" Hakon pushed the Captain away toward one of the towers and pinned him to the wall. His mace dangerously above the Captain. "Care to discuss the matter further?" Hakon asked dangerously.

The Captain gulped as Hakon held him by the throat tightly. This was not the plan… he thought with dread. "No." he muttered."

Hakon released the man from his grip as he turned to the stone gargoyle. "I haven't lived this long by taking foolish chances."

With that, Hakon lifted his mace high into the air…then strike it down on the defenseless gargoyle, smashing it to rubble…

When night finally came, Goliath and the old glided toward the castle as fast as their wings could. As they flew over the castle, Goliath's heart dropped at what he saw.

"No…" he whispered as he flapped ahead toward the castle.

The castle was in ruins… Fire blazed all around, weapons scattered as if a battle was fought, but that wasn't the worst. Where the gargoyles were once perched, were replaced with rubble. All around, different piles of rubble of the gargoyles made the castle look like a massacre had hit.

Goliath landed toward a perch where the second, his mate, usually perches during the day but found a pile of rubble instead. He leaned down as he clutched a little of the rubble in his claws.

"My…" he whispered in anguish as the stone fell out of his claws. "Angel of the Night…"

He squeezed his eyes shut, then with all the anger and sorrow built up inside, he let it out with an earth-quaking roar that could be heard all around the castle…
