Rated K Family and Friends. Hurt/Comfort.

Fargos curiosity had gotten the best of him.

Dr. Stevenson was testing illegal teleportation, and after finding out by staying at work late one night, Fargo thought he should tell someone. So, he called everyone down there to confront Dr. Stevenson, not expecting the doctor to have come prepared.

Fargo went in first alone to confront the doctor. The man was livid and frantic.

"What ive discovered will revolutionize travel. And your going to get me arrested? I dont think so." Everything seemed to move in slow motion as a shot rang through the air. Fargo felt the bullet puncture his mid-torso. Just as Carter and the rest got to the lab, Fargo looked at them with a look of shock and pain.

They then saw the blood forming on his shirt and the shaking gun in the doctors hands.

"Great. Now I have to get rid of all of you?".

"No! Wait!" Carter shouted, but it was to late. Dr. Stevenson blasted them with his teleportation technology and before they knew it Carter, Allison, Henry, Stark, and a bleeding Fargo were in the middle of the flat desert.

"What just happened?" Carter asked confused.

"He shot us with his teleportation device to goodness knows where.", replied Allison.

A painful grunt came from the ground. The group had momentarily forgot about Fargo who was trying to stand using a boulder to push himself up, and the bullet that was in his stomach.

"Fargo!? Are you alright? Did he shoot you?", asked a concerned Henry.

"Im fine, we should try and find some water or shelter while someone figures out where we are and how to get us home.", he replied.

A pain shot through his stomach as he doubled over pain.

"Just relax Fargo, sit down for a minute." Fargo didnt want to argue. He was in a lot of pain and was willing to rest. The group shot each other looks and walked away out of Fargos earshot, which he barely noticed because of the pain he was in.

"We have to find shelter. The sun just came up and its not going to be easy walking in this heat.", Stark stated.

"But Fargo is in a lot of pain. I dont know if we should move him.", Allison said with worry.

"Well we dont have a choice, we will all die if we dont find shelter from the sun. Me and Stark will help him walk." Carter stated.

They all knew he was right, but Fargo didnt look good. And what they didnt know at the time was that an infection was already starting to grow. And the bullet was still inside.

The group walked back over to where a barely concious Fargo was. His eyes were shut tight in pain as sweat dripped down his forehead. As Stark and Carter reached for Fargo he stopped them.

"Wait. Listen. You all have to leave me here. Im serious. You know im dead weight and will only slow you down. You all need to get to shelter. Please just leave me.".

Each person was shocked.

"Fargo you dont have a choice. Do you really think we would leave you behind? Forget about it, youre coming. And no buts.", said Nathan.

Fargo decided not to protest. He was to exhausted to anyway. Carter and Stark each took an arm. With every step Fargo held back a wimper, but sometimes he couldn't and each one gave the two men a pang of sympathy. After about 2 hours of walking Fargos legs began to buckle beneath him. Luckily Stark and Carter were there to stop him from falling. The group stopped for a moments rest.

"Im surprised he lasted this long. Hes tougher than I thought.", said Jack.

"Im worried. He looks bad guys. And I dont think he can take much more of this heat.", said Allison.

"Im worried to. Those caves are about 6 miles away. I think we can make it.", replied Henry. They walked for what seemed like a lifetime before they reached the caverns. Inside the cavern walls it was cool and quiet. Carefully Nathan and Jack laid Fargo against the wall. Everyone was close to heat stroke and were very exhausted.

They sat for a while before going and looking for water. The main thing on their mind was Fargo. He was sweating still and looked to be in pain. Nathan put pressure on his wound.

It began to get dark when Fargo woke up. They tried keeping him awake and asking him how he felt, but all he did was stare blankly into the fire they had built in preperation for the cold night. There was a feverish glaze over his eyes. The usual light in Fargos eyes was dimmed, they were now feverish and filled with pain.

Through the night he got worse and worse. As the infection spread his temperature went up. Everyone did there part in trying to calm him down but it was no use. Without water or a doctor, Fargo wasnt getting any better.

The sun came up and the usual problem solving team had no ideas. They had no food. No water. And no where to go.

"We need to get that bullet out of him. And we need to find a way home or at least find some water.", stated Carter.

"I could remove the bullet if I had some kind of supplies. What does everyone have?", asked Allison.

Everyone put anything they thought would be useful in front of Allison. There was belt buckels, a couple of paper clips, everyones PDA's and wallets, a crumpled up napkin and some hand sanitizer. Nathan checked Fargos pockets but found nothing useful.

"Ok, I think I can use my earings and the paper clips to use as sort of tweezers. The hand sanitizer is our best bet at sterilizing them and I'll use my jacket to try and slow the bleeding after I remove the bullet.", said Allison.

They all nodded. Henry and Jack went to look for water through the caverns.

"Ok I think were ready to begin. Im here to assist if you need me.", said Nathan sweetly.

"Thank you Nathan. I just wish we had some sedatives or pain relievers. This is going to be painful for him.", said Allison worried.

"He can handle it. Plus he's out cold. Don't worry Allie, Fargo is stronger than you think.", Nathan said comfortingly as he put a hand on her shoulder.

As they did the surgery, Fargo winced in his sleep. His face contorted with pain and his whole body was clenched up. Finally Allison found the bullet as they dropped their shoulders with relief.

An hour later, Henry and Jack returned empty handed.

"No water or anything?", asked Allison.

"No. Nothing. There's nothing in these caves but dirt and rock.", said Jack.

"How's he doing?", asked Henry.

Nathan and Allison looked at each other and back at them.

"Not very good. He's lost a lot of blood, his fever hasn't dropped much, and we have no way of stopping the infection. At least we got the bullet out though.", said Nathan.

The group sat around with hope depleting. There was nothing to do but wait and hope G.D. was able to find their location.

"Why..the long faces?", said Fargo weakly.

They all looked at Fargo surprised. Then chuckled at what he'd said.

"How long have I been asleep?", said Fargo trying to sit up against the tan cavern wall.

"About 20 hours.", said Henry.

Fargo leaned his head against the wall with a sigh. The whole group talked for a few hours about random things. They laughed a little and talked about the town and such.

As Henry was talking about the anti matter accelerator he noticed Fargo had drifted off.

"Someone's tired.", said Henry as they all looked over at Fargo.

Allison put her hand on his forehead.

"Wow he's really burning up.", said Allison with worry.

They all looked at each other knowing that he didn't have a lot of time. Allison and Nathan both monitored his vitals best they could.

An hour later Allison looked at everyone in shock as she quickly layed Fargo down on his back.

"He's not breathing! No pulse!", she said as she performed chest compressions. The others watched with fright. After five long minutes Allison stopped. They all looked at him with shock. His face was flushed, and his chest was still. He was gone. It was to late. The cavern was silent with disbelief.

"Wait what is that?", asked Jack as he looked outside.

In the distance, below the pink and orange clouds was a helicopter.

"They found us.", said Henry.

They watched as the helicopter flew in, landing near the entrance of the caverns. Though they were relieved to be found, all any of them could think about was that Fargo layed there. That he hadn't made it.

Jo jumped out of the helicopter with some medics as they ran towards them. Jack waved them in as Allison ran to the medics.

"His heart stopped about 6 minutes ago! We need defiblerators!", said Allison as they quickly made their way to Fargo.

"Clear!". Nothing. "Clear!"..."Come on!", "Clear!", they all watched as the electricity coursed through his body.

Suddenly a shaky breathe was drawn. They looked over to see Fargos chest rising and falling.

"His pulse is weak but it's there!", she said with pure relief. Everyone was overcome with relief that they hadn't lost him yet.

"Let's get to the chopper!", yelled Nathan over the sound of the propellers as they all made their way to the helicopter. Fargo was carried by stretcher and lifted into the aircraft. As they lifted off the ground, Fargo was immediately hooked up to an IV.

"Step on it! He needs blood fast or were gonna lose him!", said the medic to the pilot.

"Wait why does he need blood? What happened?", asked Jo.

"He was shot in the stomach by Dr. Stevenson.", replied Nathan as they all looked at their friend.

"How on earth did he survive? From a wound like this he should have died on impact. Not to mention imminent infection and the heat as well as no food or water. It's a miracle hes even breathing. Your friend here is a fighter.", said the medic.

Fargo was white as a sheet. A couple of breathing tubes were inserted in his nose and his shirt was covered in blood. His hair was ruffled up drenched in sweat from the fever. Soon he had an oxygen mask over his mouth and the shirt was removed.

Allison grabbed his hand with worry as she held it tight. Slowly his fingers began to weakly wrap around her hand. She looked at the others who saw this and it gave them hope.

Suddenly Fargo cracked open his eyes. It was all a quick silent blur as he was being moved out of something. There were people all around him running and yelling. Some of them he knew but he couldn't figure out what was going on, nor did he really attempt to. As he was pushed through some doors, he was now in a building he recognized. One of the people he thought he knew had stroked his face and held his hand. Though in this quiet confusing blur, it was comforting. His eyes closed once more as his head fell to the side.

The next time he opened his eyes everything was much clearer. He noticed tubes in his nose, he was connected to wires and IV's, and his torso was wrapped in tight bandages. He then looked up to see people looking at him. His friends. They smiled and he smiled back, happy to see them. As Fargo began to remember what had happened he began to laugh. The others looked at each other with confusion and smirks.

"What is so funny?", asked Allison.

"It's all just a little crazy.", said Fargo tiredly with a small laugh.

The others chuckled in agreeance and were happy to see Fargo was okay.
