Before we start the story, I kinda just wanna go through my thinking when I came up with this story/watching the show.

So first off, it seems like the majority of people that writes fanfic on the Community ships Annie and Jeff which is fine as that's your opinion and I can't change that although I would recommend you turn away from this story after you read my points since this will be a Britta and Jeff story. There aren't that many stories that truly ships Britta and Jeff and all of them that do are short one ships that are only a couple thousand words long. Now there are stories of the same variety that are much longer on different websites however I have my reasonings to not prefer them that I will make clear later. If there are people who ship Britta and Jeff who are like me, they're ok with the short one shots however they want to have a story that's long and they can sit down and read for multiple days. I don't see any of those on this site so I want to deliver that.

Now, to those who aren't that clear on why we prefer the Britta and Jeff ship I'd like to invite you to my thinking on why I prefer it. Keep in mind this is my opinion and may not be yours.

The biggest thing I look for in a relationship is chemistry. Do the characters work well together? Do they seem like an actual couple that will make each other better yet still being interesting? Are they molded in a way that seems gradual, interesting, and natural? To me, I don't really see that in Annie and Jeff. I didn't see much chemistry between them and then they suddenly kissed at the end of season 1 which seems extremely forced to me. Then throughout the rest of the show they're on and off. They're either clearly very interested in each other or seem like they don't even think about each other at all which seems kind of boring to me and doesn't set up the chemistry I look for. Also, I have a serious issue with Annie's character. Many see her as the "child"of the group who eventually grows up but is still friendly and heartwarming but I personally only see her as selfish. We see many example of her doing stuff that completely offsets what everyone else needs to do for their lives just because she's lonely and refuses to acknowledge that she needs to let others decide what's best for them and not what's best for her because she'll be lonely otherwise. This selfishness is what causes me to hate her relationship with Jeff. When I see her, I only see a selfish person who only wants what she wants which ruins the relationship between her and Jeff. Now I realize that this is a very unpopular opinion so if you disagree, that's fine with me.

For Britta, I see a lot more chemistry with her and Jeff. The characters play off of each other very well whether it was bickering or trying to help each other, it seemed like the jokes only worked because they were a pair. If it was made between two other characters it wouldn't work as well which shows me the chemistry they have with each other. Plus I think Britta is a much more interesting character. While every character has some degree of selfishness, Annie might be the second worse arguably (behind pierce for obvious reasons). Meanwhile a lot of what Britta does is to help people. It could be a little twisted (like locking herself in a dog cage) but her intentions are there. Also, I much prefer the way she connects with Jeff. Both are adults who aren't getting any younger and don't have a sustaining job. If you look at it, they're two broken people that only seem ok because of how well they're connecting with each other. Their similarities are why I think they fit so well.

Also, let's be honest, the age difference between Jeff and Annie is very creepy. Jeff was established as the obvious father figure for Annie but after a couple awkward exchanges between the two, he's suddenly the love interest which is unsettling to say the very least.

Now that I went over why I am writing this, I'll share the plans I have for now. This is going to start off at the end of s1 after the standoff between Britta and slater then proceed to be a rewirite of everything from then on. Now, I have to let you know, this is going to be a Jeff/Britta story, however it needs to be developed. I can't just dive right into them banging because this isn't a one-shot. It needs development for it to make sense or else it'll get boring really soon. They won't automatically be together because I want to rebuild their relationship from that point. Also, I want to stick true to the style of the show as much as possible without copying it. I see many of the long stories on other sites just not be the same as the show or have the same style. I want to avoid that and make it seem like this is one of those different timelines that Abed talks about. Similar, but different at the same time. The hard part about that is that since it's a show, we don't really know what is actually going on in the heads of each of the characters when they're thinking. We can make a guess based on their personalities, but we can't really get a specific answer so I'll do my best to try and copy their personalities into their thinking process however it may not be perfect so keep that in mind.

Also one more rule I am going to make. NO LEMONS. I hate writing them. It makes me uncomfortable so deal with it. It might be implied, but I'm not going to write about how Little Jeffy had fun time.

Now that I made these things clear, let's dive in shall we?
