The Loud House: Not Herself

"Hey, family!" Lynn Sr. called out.

"Hey, hon. How'd it go?" Rita asked.

"It went great. We let Lily pick the tree and it was perfect." Lincoln answered, holding the giggling infant.

"Yep, we have acquired an Abies balsamea; street name: a balsam fir." Lisa added. "Bring it in, Lynn!"

With that, the family jock carried the tree into the house.

"Am I close?" She asked, turning around and almost hitting Lincoln.

"You're cold!" Lincoln called as he dodged her. "A little more over here."

After knocking over a few more items, Lynn was eventually able to get it in the tree stand, where Lincoln fastened it into place. Once it was secured, the family went to work decorating the tree. Once they were done and had shooed away a rabid chipmunk, Lori raised Lily up, allowing her to stick the star topper on top of the tree. Everyone then stood back to admire their handiwork

"Great, as usual. 'Fir' real." Luan chuckled. "Get it?"

Everyone, but Lynn Sr. and Leni, groaned at her terrible pun.

"I don't get it." Leni said.

"I'm starting to wish I asked for earplugs, too." Lola sighed.

"You read my mind." Lana agreed.

However, something weird was to befall the Loud family. And by weird, I mean terrifying.

Later that night as the family slept, Lincoln was suddenly roused from his slumber by a noise. He tried to ignore it, but it eventually got too annoying for him to brush off. Groaning in annoyance, Lincoln got up from bed, being careful as to not wake Charles, and tiptoed into the dark hallway. All the doors to the girls' rooms were closed.

"Weird." He said to himself.

He then decided to check downstairs and get himself a peanut butter and sauerkraut sandwich. When he turned the light on, however, he was shocked when he found the kitchen an absolute mess with shattered plates and glasses, as well as food smeared on the walls, floor and ceiling.

"And that's about it." Lincoln concluded that morning.

"Who could've done this?" Lori wondered.

"Don't look at me!" Lana said.

It was at that moment, Lisa walked into the room.

"Family, you didn't happen to see Lily anywhere around here, did you?" She asked.

"Now that you mention it, where IS Lily?" Rita wondered.

Before they could start tearing up the house to find their littlest one, the sound of her babbling from upstairs caught their attention.

"I'll get her." Luna said as she ran up the stairs.

When she got up there, she went into Lily and Lisa's room. There she found the infant, sitting on Lisa's chair and giggling at something she saw out the window.

"There you are, little sis." Luna said.

Suddenly, Lily's head spun around 180 degrees with a sickening crunch. Lynn jumped back and rubbed her eyes for a few seconds. After blinking a few times, Luna saw a completely normal, giggling infant.

"Okay, that was freaky." She gulped as she picked Lily up. "Maybe I shouldn't have listened to Lucy's goth metal albums last night."

With that, the third eldest walked out of the room. Unknown to everyone, this was only the beginning.

Speaking of Lucy, the family goth was currently sitting in her usual dark corner of the attic, struggling to some up with any new ideas for poetry.

"Curse you, writer's block." She deadpanned.

Suddenly, she heard something scampering around in the attic. Initially, she brushed it off as a rat and Cliff would take care of it soon enough. Just then she saw a figure crawl across the floor in front of her. Thanks to her constantly hanging out here, her night vision was quite decent. She also heard the figure growling in a high-pitched voice, almost like a baby.

"What the?" Lucy said. "Lily?"

The figure turned around for a few seconds, reveling its golden yellow eyes before it fled.

"Oh, this is not good." Lucy remarked as she went to find Grandma Harriet's book.

The next two days were absolute hell. From someone trashing Lori and Leni's room, to Lola's dresses being torn up, to Lynn's jerseys being ruined. Later that night, however, all the kids were woken up by their mother screaming. They all rushed down the stairs to see what the commotion was about and saw that the Christmas tree had been torn up.

"Okay, this has literally gone far enough." Lori declared.

"Agreed, Whoever this scumbag is, I'll give 'em the old nutcracker." Lynn growled in agreement.

"Hey, guys? Has Lily always been able to crawl on the ceiling?" Leni asked.

"Leni, what are you talking about?" Lincoln asked.

The family looked up at the ceiling and, sure enough, 'Lily' was on the ceiling. However, she had green veined skin and when she turned her head around, it revelaed her gold yellow eyes. The infant jumped down and latched onto Luan's face. The family comedian screamed in horror as she struggled to tear the creature off. Fortunately, she had her family to help and they managed to toss the monster away. They then ran upstairs and locked themselves in Lori and Leni's room.

"What was that?!" Lynn Sr. screamed.

"And most importantly, what happened to Lily?" Rita cried.

"That's not Lily." Lucy chimed in.

"What do you mean?" Lana asked.

"That thing we saw, it's not Lily." Lucy emphasized.

"Normally, I'd try to provide a scientific explanation, but I'm unable to, so I'll bite. Please elaborate." Lisa said.

"That creature we saw is changeling." Lucy began. "Shape-shifting monsters said to replace children with themselves to wreak havoc."

"But, why did it target us?" Lori asked.

"They're said to seek revenge against those who disturb their homes, which are trees." Lucy explained as she turned to Lincoln. "Who's to say it wasn't disturbed when you, Dad, Lisa, Luan and Lily went to get a tree?"

The family went wide-eyed and jaws dropped.

"So, how to we get rid of it and get Lily back?" Lola asked.

"Well first, we have to catch it." Lucy said.

"How do you suppose we do that?" Luna asked.

"Ooh! I know!" Leni perked up.

"Wait, you have an idea?" Lynn said.

"Okay, this was the dumbest idea you've ever had." Lynn deadpanned as she and the family his in the kitchen.

Leni's idea consisted of a simple box propped up with a stick attached to a string with some bait under the box, in which case, was a cookie.

"I saw this in a cartoon once." Leni assured confidently.

"Dude, this is so retarded." Luna whispered. "What makes you think..."

She was interrupted when Leni pulled the string, trapping the changeling under the box. The family quickly used their combined weight to hold down the box.

"I can't believe this actually worked." Lincoln said.

"Now what?!" Lisa said.

"We take it back to he forest." Lucy said.

Soon, the family were in the forest wrapped up in their winter clothing as they trudged through the snow.

"Are we almost at the spot?" Lori asked.

"I think I see the stump." Lynn Sr. said.

Sure enough, they reached the spot they got the tree from. Once they did, they set the changeling free as it ran into the dark woods.

"We're sorry we disturbed your home!" Lincoln called.

"We promise to never go into this spot of the forest again!" Lynn added.

"Please! Just give us Lily back!" Luan finished.

After waiting several seconds, they heard the sound of tiny footsteps in the snow. Soon enough, Lily waddled her way to her overjoyed family.

"LILY!" The cried out in joy as they cuddled her.

"Thank you." Lincoln said to whatever was listening.

"Bye-bye." Lily said as she waved to the invisible creatures.
