"Mommy how much longer?" ,shouted 8 year old,Amaria, to her mother, Kelly.

Amaria felt she was taking too long to sign her daughter in for ballet practice.

"I'm trying! Be patient,Amaria. Why don't you sit in the lobby and wait for me?",asked Kelly sweetly.

Amaria responded in a huff and went towards the lobby. Amaria knew how boring the lobby was. She ,also, knew that she was being pushy with her mom. "Going to the lobby" was ,almost being in time out. There was nothing to do there, except, she had to sit down in a chair. While she was in the lobby chair, she noticed, there, right next to her -was a young girl about the same age as her, as she appeared to be reading a book

"You're waiting too, I see?",asked Amaria.

The young girl then looked at her, spooked, she was so into her book when Amaria spoke , she jumped out of her skin.

"Hey are you deaf or something? Did you hear what I said?",asked Amaria.

She was not getting the clue of what the girl could possibly be reading which would have her so interested. Then, the girl recovered quickly had nodded to what

she said.

"Oh sorry, it's just I don't talk to strangers.",said the girl.

"Oh I see , well, my Mommy doesn't let me talk to strangers too. So, we have something in common." answered Amaria.

The girl responded with a small laugh.

"So yes, I'm waiting, too . My aunt is signing me in because my mom didn't come..", explained the girl.

"Oh really, what does your mom do?",asked Amaria.

"Well I don't know, really. I mean she keeps having these men over at night, and in the day, they are gone. I asked about them and she said they are my uncles.",shrugged the girl.

"Oh well your lucky then.",laughed Amaria.

"Yeah I'm Astrid, by the way.",said Astrid.

"Nice name, my name is Amaria."shared Amaria.

"Cool your name starts with a A too.",said Astrid.

"Yours too." ,responded Amaria.

Astrid laughed in response. Their parental guardians had arrived to pick them up, giving a sense that they were done signing in.

Kelly and Amaria got in the front seat of the car, with Kelly sitting in the driver's seat and Amaria sitting in the passenger seat. She watched Kelly starting the car and driving. Once she was driving, Amaria looked up to her mother

"Mommy, guess what.",said Amaria

"What is it Amaria?",asked Kelly

"I made a friend today.", said Amaria

"Oh nice what's the friend's name?",asked Kelly.

"Her name is Astrid.",stated Amaria.

"Astrid, huh? What a nice name. I would like to meet her one day.",said Kelly. Amaria smiled and as Kelly smiled back.

Astrid's aunt, Christina, however, had just finished signing her niece up when there was a call back from her sister, Jan. Jan was done with her job and wanted Astrid back. Jan's car rolled up to the sidewalk, Christina handed Astrid back to her and went to her vehicle. Jan and Astrid were in the front of the car with Jan on the driver's seat and with Astrid in the passenger's seat there was silence for a while. Jan was already smoking a cigarette that isn't until Astrid looked up to her mother with Jan looking back

"What?" Grunted Jan as she took out the cigarette

"Mommy I need to tell you something." Told Astrid

"Alright what make it quick I'm driving." Told Jan

"I made a friend." Told Astrid

"Oh nice what's her name and does she have any money?",asked Jan leaving Astrid confused at first what she said

"No she has a single mother.", said Astrid

"Oh nice, is she widow?",

Jan

"No.",said Astrid which made Jan grunted as she turned away mumbling

"Poor child being raised by a single mother I bet the mother doesn't know who the daddy is."
