Lois comes home to her apartment after work. After that kiss to Clark earlier this week, she's been doing her best to avoid him. She likes Clark, but doesn't know about starting a relationship or anything. Especially with a na?ve farm boy who she assumes has a case of puppy love for the first time in his life. There is a knock at her door. Lois opens the door and sees Clark standing there.

"Hi." He says.

"Can we talk." He continues.

Lois tries to quickly shut the door. Clark puts his arm up to stop the door from shutting. He isn't using a lot of force, but Lois can't get the door to close.

"Lois, please." Clark pleads.

Finally, Lois concedes, and let's Clark in.

"Look Clark, I don't know what to say. I may have made a mistake earlier this week." Lois says, already on the defensive.

"Lois please, can we just slow down and talk?" Clark asks.

"I'm a career-oriented woman, I don't have time for relationships." Lois says.

"Not even if it was a relationship with Superman?" Clark asks.

"Well I- What are you getting at?" Lois asks.

"It's just if Superman asked you out, you seem like you'd make time for him." Clark says.

"Well he's clearly too busy for the likes of me." Lois says.

"And what if he wasn't?" Clark asks.

"What do you mean?" Lois asks back, confused.

Clark pauses for a moment; he takes a deep breath and swallows hard.

"Lois, I'm Superman." He finally says.

There's a long pause as Lois looks at Clark.

"Hahahaha." Lois begins laughing.

"Oh Smallville, that's a good one. You almost had me going there for a second." Lois says, with tears forming in her eyes.

Clark stands there, with a serious expression on his face.

"Smallville?" Lois says, getting more serious.

Clark reaches up and removes his glasses.

"Look me in the eye Lois." Clark says.

Lois takes a minute to examine him. She really studies him. Then she gasps.

"Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod." She says beginning to freak out.

"It all makes sense. You both showed up around the same time, you always know where trouble is. And you just blend in. Too well in fact." Lois says, her mind racing a mile a minute.

Lois approaches his. Clark opens up his arms for a hug. Lois then slaps him in the face.

"How could you keep this from me?" Lois asks.

"Well Lois-

"We work together every day. And here you are with this big secret." Lois says.

"Lois I-

"There were times where I thought you got in over your head and I risked my neck to save you. But you never needed saving." Lois says.

"Lois, this was the hardest thing I've ever had to do." Clark finally blurts out.

This stops Lois in her tracks.

"Alright, I'm ready to listen." Lois says.

"Are you still upset?" Clark asks.

"I'm listening." Lois responds sternly.

"Well, let's start at the beginning." Clark says.

"So were you once Superbaby?" Lois asks.

"Actually Lois, I didn't get my powers until I was a teenager." Clark says.

"Growing up on a farm is a lot of work, but something about it became easier over time. Too easy in fact.

Johnathan Kent looks out at his farm. He was getting older, but the farm was beginning to thrive. Thanks in no small part to his son, Clark. He headed out back to check on Clark who was loading hay into the truck. He came around to see it already completed.

"I thought you just came out here five minutes ago." Johnathan said.

"What can I say dad, this hay just isn't that heavy." A young Clark Kent confidently said.

Johnathan was very impressed with his son's strength, but didn't think anything too out of the ordinary at the time. That was until a couple of months later.

One day Clark was in the barn cutting wood on the table saw. He had only used it a couple of times and his parents didn't want them using it unless they were around. But Clark thought he knew better. He cut the first four pieces just fine. But then the fifth one gave him trouble. He was wearing long sleeves (which he should not have been doing to begin with) and his sleeve got caught on a shard of the wood. His arm got pulled forward.

"Ma! Pa!" Clark screamed in terror.

His arm inched closer and closer to the blade. Clark panicked, he didn't know what to do. He closed his eyes knowing his hand was about to come in contact with the rotating blade. But as his hand reached the blade, he was fine, and it was the blade that got mangled up.

Martha and Johnathan arrived a moment too late. The saw the blade all mangled up, and Clark sitting there crying.

"Clark! Are you hurt?" Johnathan asked.

Johnathan looked at his hand, but he was fine. This is when he knew for sure, Clark was something special.

Martha made some tea, and they went into the kitchen to talk.

"So what, what happened to me?" Clark asked.

Johnathan sighs.

"Son, the truth is-" He began.

Martha trembles with a cup of tea in her hands.

"You're adopted." Johnathan said.

Clark slides back.

"So you're, not my real parents?" Clark responded to this shocking revelation.

"We are your parents." Martha said.

Clark leaves the kitchen table and runs up to his room. Johnathan and Martha just stare at each other.

Back in Lois's apartment, Lois stares at Clark as the two sit on the couch together.

"So you didn't handle it well?" Lois asks.

"Well, not at first. But it wasn't long after that, that I realized these two may not have given birth to me, but they've treated me like I was their own." Clark says.

"Then what happened?" Lois asks.

"At this point I still didn't know what I was. Our leading theories were either an experiment of some sort, or a curse from God. But I was starting to get used to my powers. About a year after that, I got a little too comfortable with them" Clark says.

Lana Lang had been the girl of Clark's dreams for years. The two had known each other practically their entire lives. She stood at her locker brushing he long red hair. She smiled into the mirror in her locker. Clark had always found the smile on her freckled face adorable. Clark went to approach her.

"Hey Lana." Clark said, his heart beating fast.

"Oh, hi Clark!" Lana greeted him warmly.

"What's up?" She asked.

"Well the homecoming dance is coming up and I-

Lana's locker door suddenly slams shut.

"Kent, what are you doing?" Whitney Fordman asked.

Whitney was the star jock of Clark's class. He was budding into quite the quarterback.

"Well I-

"I know you weren't about to ask Lana to homecoming." Whitney said.

"Because why would she go with you when she could go with me?" He continued.

"Whitney stop." Lana pleaded.

"Come on Kent." Whitney said, bopping him on the head.

Clark just looked down, trying to avoid trouble. But Whitney continued. He slapped Clark across the face. It was a loud slap too. Clark wasn't too hurt, but Whitney spent a moment shaking out his hand.

"Something wrong Whitney?" Clark asked, beginning to feel a tad cocky.

"There'll be a problem for you in a minute." Whitney said as he swings at Clark.

Clarks moves out of the way. The children had now created a circle around them. Whitney continued to punch, and Clark continued to evade. Whitney finally got one good shot in on Clark. The children collectively gasped. Whitney went for a second shot, when Clark finally swung back. His fist connected with Whitney's smashing Whitney's hand.

"AHHHHH." Whitney screamed in pain.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Clark said.

"What is going on here?" A teacher asked as they entered the hallway.

The students scatter, leaving Clark and a crying Whitney.

That night Clark had to go home to face his parents.

"I didn't mean to hurt him." Clark said.

"We believe you Clark. But that fact is you did." Johnathan said.

"I just, I just wish this never happened to me. I just want to be normal." Clark said, beginning to cry.

"Johnathan, it's time." Martha said.

Johnathan sighed.

"Time for what?" Clark asked.

Johnathan and Martha Kent took Clark out back to the storm cellar.

"What are we doing?" Clark asked.

Johnathan slides a panel out on the floor.

"I didn't know there was a compartment down there." Clark said.

"There wasn't, originally." Johnathan said.

Martha holds up her lantern, revealing some sort of ship.

"Wh- what is this?" Clark asked.

"This is what we found you in son." Johnathan said.

Clark just stands there in shock.

So wh- what am I? He finally asked.

"You're our son." Martha said.

"We found you in there with a red blanket, and this." Johnathan said as he handed Clark some sort of tablet.

As soon as Clark touched the tablet, an icon appeared on it. It looked sort of like an "S". Then a man and a woman appeared on the screen.

"Hello Kal-El. We are your parents, Jor-El and Lara." The man said.

"By the time you are seeing this, your home world of Krypton will have been gone for many years." Lara said.

"Krypton?" Clark responds.

"We have risked everything to save you son." Jor-El continues.

"You will carry our planet's legacy with you."

"I don't want to." Clark yelled at the tablet.

"Johnathan." Martha called out.

"He needs this." Johnathan said.

"We have sent you to a planet called earth. There your Kryptonian physiology with give you great powers that other humans won't have." Jor-El said.

"It is important that you never use these powers to bring harm to others." Lara said.

"You can be an inspiration to these humans. They will race behind you. They will stumble, that will fall, but in time you can show them the light." Jor-El said.

"Our love travels with you our sweet Kal-El." Lara said.

"I bequeath you, my son. You will carry me inside you, all the days of your life. You will make my strength your own, and see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father the son." Jor-El concludes.

The message then shuts off.

"No, this isn't fair, it's a trick." Clark said.

Clark throws down the tablet and runs out of the cellar.

"Clark-" Martha called after him.

"Son." Johnathan said.

Clark runs through the woods towards the back of the farm. It's night time, and although it's hard to see, he pushes forward, deeper into the woods. He slips and he reaches a ravine deep in the woods. Clark falls and braces for impact. But just before he hits the bottom, he stops. Clark looks down to see he is floating. Although at first, he is frightened, he then ascends into the sky. A great thrill overcomes him. He flies back to the farm.

"Ma, Pa!" Clark yelled out.

Clark then descends and hugs his parents.

Lois sits next to Clark, listening intently to the words coming out of his mouth.

"After that day, I tried my hardest to blend it." Clark says.

"It must have been so hard for you." Lois says.

"It was." Clark says.

"It wasn't until I started traveling to world as a reporter that I realized I could use my powers to help." Clark says.

"So what happened with Lana?" Lois asks.

"Well, that's another story." Clark says as he sits back.
