RECAP

STHEREA: The SynTHEtic REAlity network, was supposedly created by the company of Exeter to host millions of virtual duels for millions of duelist avatars each day.
The system has grown so large that nearly every city and every household has access to at least some of its functions and day to day life is now largely dedicated to the sport of dueling. But the truth of STHEREA runs far deeper. The ultimate creator of this virtual world disappeared years ago after being pushed into the corner by the now CTO of Exeter: Evert Hansen. The Creator was last seen in a major incident that blew up a large factory and cost many lives. Yet that incident was forgotten by the world at large. With the help of the network and its influence over the human mind and their perfect memory database, Exeter has been slowly but surely been able to smooth over any gap in their perfect image and take over control of this creation.

Cracks still formed. Cracks created by the Legacy Items. At least six objects of great power were placed into the virtual world, left behind by the mysterious creator for a greater purpose. Each object took on a different form. Things began to go awry when the one who found the Legacy Crown started to wreak havoc with the game's world. He corruptedd the many NPCs of that system, ADIs, and turned them against the living duelists. At the same time, the duelists Ezra and Melyria uncovered the Legacy Lance and Legacy Armor, which allowed them to create their own virtual paradise and recruit new members to their group of permanent STHEREA residents: Millennium. Exeter proved to be powerless to stop them at first, though they had the Legacy Chalice themselves with which they could undo the powers of the other items. But its existence was to be kept secret..

But what none of them expected was the interference of entities like Mister Static: a being created inside STHEREA as a result of countless of minds interacting with each other. It recruited a handful of duelists to fight against the owners of the legacy items and to collect them for him.
Among these duelists are: Yoro-Himiko the daughter of a wealthy family who has stakes in the Exeter company, Crescent Aurora the one who eventually found the Legacy Shield and friend of Everts sister Therese, Agent Asterisk the friend of Vigionaire the master hacker who helped uncover many mysteries of the network, Scarlet Fever the morally questionable code-doctor, Hydra the invisible duelist who led a double-life as the Black Baron Schwarzwald, Midsummer Nightmare the untrustworthy masked man who pursued his own dream of recreating his lost family within STHEREA, Sundown Mephistar a ADI who Static helped gain sentience after a duel against one of the systems admins, Madam Blanche the former duel child star who has contacts with the current champions of the dueling world and eventually won ownership of the Legacy Ark, Cherry Anise who was secretly a member of Millennium all along, Veyron the disgraced speed duelist and many other highlevel players.

And then there was Void, a simple man who did not stand out at all. But the spotlight fell on him eventually anyway when he wound up being the one to take down the Crown. After that he became good friends with Madam Blanche and together they won the tagteam tournament sponsored by Evert Hansen. He gained even more notoriety as he put it upon himself to infiltrate Millennium, where he eventually got found out and banished by Ezra.
But Void, Charles Adami, refused to give up. He broke free of the nightmare and in doing so discovered the subconscious layer hidden underneath the virtual world. There he also discovered the true nature of Mister Static.
Static was an entity born of hate and anger, of only negative emotions. He wanted the legacy items for himself to break out into the real world, and already managed to claim the Crown and Chalice by overpowering Hansen. Only after that did Void seemingly defeat Static. And together with the help of Crescent, they managed to take down Ezra as well before the power of the Lance drove him fully mad.

At the same time there was Alpha, a duelist in search of revenge. He alone remembered the accident caused by Exeter and wanted answers. During his quest he, Midsummer and some members of Millennium found Miss Echo instead, the positive counterpart of Mister Static. She had been kept imprisoned by Static within a city recreated within STHEREA. She believed herself to be a real girl saved by the creator. But upon discovering her true origin of another accidental digital birth and experiencing negative emotions for the first time in her existence, she broke into the memory database of STHEREA and overloaded it. In the wake of that blast, Void found himself back in the subconscious world in the presence of a re-emerged Static. He had not been destroyed, because he could live on inside Void's avatar and complete his plans that way.

And before Void could do anything about it, Static forced him out.. sending him back to reality. The same reality Static now seeks to conquer..
