Just a little note about this Rogue's history in this story:

Rogue was 14 when her powers manifested. Mystique and Destiny managed to keep her under the radar and the X-Men never came looking for her. Before she was 14, Mystique had taught her how to fight, disguise herself, hot wire a car, flirt and all sorts of sneaky stuff. Irene home schooled Rogue and taught her how to be a lady. Mystique was harsh and always expected better from Rogue, never satisfied, and Irene, although not as harsh, never helped Rogue even after she explained to her how miserable she was.

After she turned 14 and got her powers, Mystique taught her how to fly a jet, and started taking her on small missions such as attending a ball hosted by the Hell Fire Club. There, Rogue was intel gathering. She would flirt and take men, like Sebastian Shaw to one side to absorb what he knew and also his powers. Rogue ended up absorbing most of the Hell Fire club's main members like Emma Frost, Selene and Harry Leland. Rogue can access these powers at any time, but in moderation. Again, Mystique is not satisfied with this. Besides the missions, Irene and Mystique kept her locked away as best as they could.

Two years later, after Rogue's powers manifested, is where this story is set. It is also after the events of The Cauldron and the Operation Rebirth episodes. In this story, Operation Rebirth happened very soon after The Cauldron episodes, so please try to see it as Operation Rebirth as the episode straight after The Cauldron. Of course, without Rogue, the X-Men never found Magneto's hide out and he was able to cure himself easily. Some of season one could have been done without Rogue and when it comes to Turn of the Rogue, let's just ignore that episode and say that the X-Men were told about Mystique being their headmistress by the Professor. There are going to be chapters where I have merged episodes from series one and series two together. This is just to keep the story interesting.

Rogue was sat against her bedroom wall, a book fallen in her lap. She was staring at her boarded up bedroom window again. She was using the powers of Emma Frost to help reinforce the mental barriers she had created to keep the other psyches locked away. She was really glad she had absorbed that woman. There was another telepath of sorts too, Selene, but she preferred to use Emma. She was more gifted when it came to this stuff.

Her mamas had caught her sneaking out again and locked her in her room again. She knew how to get out, but, currently, she was debating where she could go. It wasn't that she didn't like her mothers. She just wanted to explore. Her mamas just wanted to keep her locked in doors until they needed something from her like when her mama needed her to absorb information from all of the Hell Fire club members. That's why she'd been stuck with their psyches now. But she just wanted to get out there and explore the world. Issue was that they always, always found her somehow.

"Rogue!" Rogue heard her mama, Irene, call out.

Rogue turned her head, confused as to why her mama sounded so distressed. Then she saw her bed move in front of the door. Rogue stared at it, wide eyed.

Irene was on the other side, banging on the door, calling her name.

Rogue rose to her feet. She wasn't too sure what was happening, but she didn't think it was good considering her bed just moved to block her door on it's own. Her second mama was out which made things more scary. It was just her and Irene, an old, blind woman.

The twisting of metal could be heard. Rogue turned to her window, seeing that the metal bars that had been placed on her window were now gone. She began to slip off her gloves and move closer to the window, staying close to the wall, ready to pounce.

But, the metal bars that were on her window now shot out at her and pinned her to one of her bedroom walls by her wrists and ankles.

Rogue struggled against them, but to no avail. She knew she could probably use one of the mutations she had absorbed from the Hell Fire club, but she waited to see what happened next. She saw the shadow before the man drifted into her room, dressed in red. He had a metal helmet on his head as he turned to face her. Rogue stopped struggling and tried to think. She didn't know who this man was, but she guessed he was someone who wanted revenge for a passed job she and her mamas' had pulled. She thought, if she could keep them talking, she might survive this.

"Good evening, Rogue." The man spoke, "I am Magneto."

"Ya don't say?" Rogue said raising her eyebrow, "Guessin' ya a mutant who controls magnets or somethin'?" she asked, unable to read his mind. If she could pry out of him what his powers were, it might give her an advantage.

"You could say I am the Master of Magnetism, yes. And you, yourself, have a very unique gift. Absorbing a person's memories, life force and abilities including mutations if it is, indeed, a mutant, you touch." Magneto said.

Rogue tried not to sweat or show how nervous she actually was. This guy had obviously done his home work on her. She felt like someone had a memory of this man somewhere in her head, but she couldn't risk getting lost in the psyche's memories when she was facing a threat.

"You gonna let meh know who it is ya revengin' or somethin' before ya kill meh first though, right? 'cause I still have no clue who ya are. Might wanna state that for ma death ta mean somethin'." Rogue said.

"Mystique has taught you well. Already, you jump straight to analyse my abilities and my cause." He said.

"Ah-huh, so ya are here 'cause of Mystique," Rogue acknowledge, "why?"

Magneto flowed down to her floor and walked closer to Rogue.

"I am not here to harm you. Simply, to talk." He said.

"Yeah, ya definitely given meh that impression what with ma mama bangin' on the door and you cuffin' meh 'gainst a wall and all." Rogue said.

She then found that she was free from the wall. She grabbed and rubbed at her wrists, still alert. She didn't want to jump the man just yet. It was too soon. She would wait for her moment.

"Your mothers do not approve of my company around you. They intend to keep you here, locked up in order only to use your mutation for their advantage." Magneto said.

"Right," Rogue said, rolling her R. She knew half of what he said was true though, "And that explains what you want how?"

"I am here because I do not believe there plans for you are right. There is a much larger world out there for you. A world full of mutants just like yourself. Mutants who desire to walk free, unashamed of who they are and without consequence. I come to you today to ask you to join me." Magneto said.

Rogue tilted her hips and placed two fists on her waist. This was partly interesting. She knew there were other mutants out there. She'd meet, perhaps, a handful of them, but she still had no idea where this guy was going with all of this. She'd already figured out he wanted to hire her though.

"What would I be join exactly?" Rogue asked.

She wasn't too sure why she was humouring this man or, herself, for that matter, but it did feel good to hear another possibility of what her life would be like. She was already doubting she'd take the offer. She doubted Irene nor Mystique would welcome her back if she did. She kinda guessed she couldn't risk her home for one stupid job. Plus, Mystique always delt with the jobs anyway. If Mystique hadn't mentioned this man and Irene was freaking out about him, she doubted they'd be happy if she did a deal with him. But… at the same time, that wild side of her wanted to know what the world outside her limited experience was like.

"You would be joining the cause to fight for your freedom. Mutants are currently in hiding. Powerful mutants, such as yourself, are hidden away, scared of being found by humans and for what reason? We are superior beings to the humans in everyway. We do not deserve to hide in shame." Magneto said.

Rogue rolled her eyes. She was becoming bored.

"Yeah, you mentioned that. Failed ta mention the tiny details though." Rogue said.

"Excuse me?" Magneto said.

Now Rogue eyed him and shrugged, "How ya plannin' ta do that? What've I got ta do with ya great cause? Oh, and also, if you ain't noticed, I think those humans ya talk so little about are after meh for ma crimes, not so much for bein' a mutant." Rogue said.

Rogue actually heard the man chuckle. "Mystique really has taught you well. I'm afraid, Rogue, that I am unable to discuss the small details with you at this present time. Your loyalties must first be determined before I reveal anything. A cleaver girl like you must understand this?"

Rogue leaned against the wall. She was still preparing to attack, pulling her glove off under her arm bit by bit. She snorted though.

"So, let meh get this straight. Ya push inta ma room, tell meh ya don't agree with how ma mamas are raisin' meh, but I should come join ya cause ta do whatever ta fight for mutant freedom. Oh, but you don't trust meh with the details. Now, can ya explain the part where any of that is suppose ta appeal ta meh?" Rogue asked.

"I believe freedom is the most appealin' term here." Magneto said.

Rogue shuck her head and turned away from the man, not believing he got the 'What's in it for me' part.

"You have made frequent attempts to escape from your mothers in order to live a somewhat normal life. If you consider illegal racing and underage drinking normal forms of freedom. However, you have always been brought back and forced into a prison. Currently, this prison here." He said, referring to her bedroom, "What I am offering you is a chance to break free from your mothers' and to be able to walk the streets without the need to be questioned as to where you are going nor punished for being out passed a curfew or without permission. All I would ask is that you attend the training sessions and meetings I tell you to attend." Magneto said.

Now, Rogue became more interested. Rogue could barely leave the house without her mothers knowing where she was going, when she was going, who she was going to meet, when she'd be home. It was driving her insane! She knew they were just trying to be caring and watch out for her, but a girl couldn't live like that.

"These training sessions and meetings, how would I know they wouldn't take up all ma time?" Rogue asked.

"I cannot promise you when they will happen or how long they will take. Perhaps, some days, you will be asked to remain in and train for three days straight. Others, you maybe free to roam for a week or two straight with no meetings to attend." Magneto said.

"You said ya'd get meh away from Irene and Mystique. So they couldn't find meh. Where ya thinkin' of takin' meh? Where would I go? Where would I live?" Rogue asked.

"I have many bases established all around the world. I cannot tell you their location, but I can inform you that you will have a place to stay, food to eat and the freedom, away from your mothers. I will not allow them to steal you away from me if I know your allegiance is with me." Magneto said.

Rogue sighed, deeply. This was getting more and more interesting by the minute.

"Why don't ma mamas' want meh near ya?" Rogue asked, "Must be a reason more than your givin'." Rogue said.

"As I said before, they wish to keep you locked away for their own selfish gain." Magneto said.

"And your reason for wantin' ta hire meh ain't?" Rogue asked.

Magneto snorted, "My cause is for the good of mutant kind as a whole. There's is a selfish reason. Now, have you come to a decision?" Magneto asked.

Rogue chuckled, "Ya don't really give a gaul much time, do ya Mister?" Rogue knew she was flirting, but she was hoping it would keep him there for longer.

"I'm afraid time is of the essence. Especially since your mothers know of my presence. Very soon, they will close down this little meeting of ours and this will no longer be a choice for you to decide." Magneto said.

"Didn't ya say you could keep em away?" Rogue asked.

"This is their territory. Once you are in my domain, it will be much easier." Magneto said.

"Ah-huh," Rogue said, "and much harder ta escape you too there, I'm guessin'." Rogue said.

"Indeed," Magneto said, "However, if you do wish to leave after, at least, two weeks of staying with me, you will be free too. However, the longer you stay, the more you learn, the less likely you will be able to walk away freely. Not without a high amount of trust in your abilities to keep my secrets. Now, what will your answer be?"

Rogue glanced around her room. She'd started this conversation, thinking she wasn't going to leave, no matter what. Now, she was debating it. If she stayed, she and her mama's would probably move again. Then she'd be locked up again until another job showed up. She'd have to find new bike to ride with and a new bike to steal and all. With this guy though… he was saying, yes, she'd do jobs and work for him, but she could leave whenever she wanted to. He'd mentioned that he had bases all around the world, so their might be travelling involved, but maybe, this time when she travelled, she could actually get to see the rest of the world. It was a risk, but… it sounded so much better than the hand she'd been dealt.

"If I join ya, there's gonna have ta be a few ground rules." Rogue stated.

"Such as?" Magneto asked.

"I ain't a killer. Trickster, yes. Intel gatherin', I can get it for ya. Flyin' a jet, stealin' cars, winnin' races, fixin' things up, all that I don't mind, but I ain't no murder." Rogue said.

Magneto seemed to nod his head. "Understood. Others?"

Rogue tried to think of some, but her mind went blank. "Give meh time ta think of 'em. Besides, I have no idea what jobs it is you want pullin'. If it's something I can't do, I won't do it." Rogue said.

"Can't and won't are two very different words." Magneto said.

Rogue shrugged, "I ain't a slacker. I won't try and get outta doin' something I don't want ta just for the hell of it. But, if your askin' meh ta kill someone or fly inta the sun or something stupid like that, then it's gonna be a no from meh no matter what ya say, got that sugar?"

"I believe I am willing to accompany that deal. Does this mean you have chosen your side?" Magneto asked.

"Only if ya give us two minutes ta pack a bag and all, ya know. Ain't no body teach ya some manners?" Rogue asked.

Magneto began to float back out of her window. "Very well. I shall give you ten minutes to collect your things. Ten minutes is all I can spare." Then he left her room.

Rogue nodded, then glanced around at her messy room. It wasn't going to take her long to pack. She was used to travelling light. So she packed light, taking only the stuff that was in her room seeing as the bed was still blocking her door. Rogue stuck her head outside of her open window, looking around for Magneto.

He was hovering besides her.

"Ready?" He asked.

"Well that all depends, sugar." Rogue said, sitting on the edge of her window and smiling up sweetly at Magneto. "You gonna buy a girl a toothbrush and some toothpaste when we reach wherever we're headin'?" Rogue asked.

"Anything essential that you need will be provided for you, I assure you." Magneto said.

"Awwww, now I knew there was a gentleman in there somewhere." Rogue said, winking.

She just couldn't help herself. The only time she'd ever really talked to men was when she was trying to get information out of them or was fighting them. So, all she knew what to do was flirt or be straight to the point with them. She didn't know how else to be.

"I take that as a yes." Magneto said lifting his hand. As he did so a half open orb began to rise towards her window.

"Oh, a horse and carriage just for me? Why, ya shouldn't have." Rogue said.

Magneto said nothing and Rogue leap in. The girl reminded him of another one of his most recent recruits. He just hoped there would be no trouble later on down the line. At least, no more than was planned.
