Squinting her hazel eye against the sun, Motoko aimed right at the center of the closest bush. Leaving the bow the arrow arced through the air it hit it's target dead in the center. But it didn't have quite the effect Motoko was expecting.

The bush shouted a wild warcry then charged at them. "Retreat" Motoko called as the group turned and fled.

Geez, Motoko thought as they fled, they must be the strongest headhunter in the world to be able to survive my shot and go another round. The cries continued as they moved farther and farther away.

Ahhag, Keitaro screamed again "get the arrow out of me".

"Okay, already you moron. We would have gotten it out sooner if you hadn't taken off panicking," Naru scolded him. "Besides, you're immoral."

"Ooh, what's going on?" Su asked as she rushed up to catch up with Keitaro and Naru.

Are we playing that game where a bunch of people run around touching each other without consent until they are too tired to go on?

"No, and that is the creepiest description of a tag I have ever heard," Naru said impatiently. "We are in serious trouble," She explained while pulling the arrow from Keitaro's wound.

"Gah" Keitaro cried.

"So, ultimate tag?" Su asked, her green eyes twinkling.

Naru was about to retort angrily but Keitaro interrupted her. "Yes Su we are playing ultimate tag and we want to win. Do you have anything that could help us?"

As Motoko's team regrouped they realized it was time to refine their tactics.

Okay, the arrow didn't stop them so let's move to plan b: traps. Motoko decided. Kanako and Sarah nodded in understanding.

**later**

I kinda expected a more great plan or something Keitaro admitted. Su's big plan was to find a cave to hide out in.

"Come on Keitaro, I have won tons of games of tag by hiding in caves," Su reassured him. "And it has lots of yummy bugs for snacks!"

Naru shuddered. "Why did I have to get stuck with you two? I wish the others were here,"

But nonetheless, they entered the cave.

Moments later: "okay everyone" Haruka announced "this is the cave I told you about. It is completely empty and our best strategy for surviving. But It is hard to see in there so we will have to stick together."

"I wish Keitaro was here," Shinobu fretted. She was scared of the dark.

"I wish my sake was here," Kitsune added.

They entered the cave.

Haruka led them along, feeling her way down the cave. Rocks, rocks, and more rocks she thought as she followed the hard jagged walls.

Suddenly her hand hit something smooth and soft. What could that be? Haruka thought as she continued to feel the whatever it was.

Naru had purposely let Keitaro go ahead so there was no way he could have had one of his perverted accidents. So when she was grabbed from behind she drew the worse conclusion. "Aragh" Naru screamed `We're under attack.

Caught off guard by the screams, Haruka did the only logical thing.

"Run!" Both Keitaro and Haruka shouted.

They darted to the exit. Haruka, Shinobu, and Mutsumi got out first.

Where's Kitsune? Shinobu asked in a panic as she glanced around for the sandy-haired drinker.

"Help me I am under attack" Kitsune screamed as she ran out with a mess of blond hair and tan skin clung around her neck.

"You can't have any of my tasty bugs," the savage shouted, beating Kitsune on the head.

Kitsune, not being focused on where she was running, tripped over a large rock protruding from the ground. And landed facedown in the sand.

Spitting sand out of her mouth Kitsune made a cry for mercy. "Oh, great warrior, please spare me. I am still a virgin. At least let me taste some alcohol before I die.

"Wait a minute, that savage looks familiar," Shinobu said brushing the hair out of her face to see clearly.

"Oh Shinobu," the savage said in surprise "I didn't know you were playing tag with us."

"That's not just any savage, it's our savage," Mutsumi exclaimed in the realization that their attacker was more a banana hunter than a headhunter.

"So you're still a virgin eh?" Haruka asked, giving a sly smile.

Kitsune turned red with embarrassment and stuck her face back down into the sand where she had fallen.

"If you're here, where are Naru and Keitaro?" Mutsumi asked as she scanned for the weak feminine form of her friend. She also looked for Naru.

"Take this, you pervert headhunter," came Naru's screeching voice from the cave.

Naru emerged from the cave holding the small weak arms of Keitaro painfully twisted behind his back.

"Uncle" Keitaro cried in pain, his glasses threatening to fall from his face.

"Haruka?" Naru said in surprise once she saw the sullen smoker.

"Naru, why are you hurting Keitaro?" Shinobu shouted tears welling in her eyes.

"Yeah, wasn't he in your group?" Haruka asked.

Naru dropped Keitaro letting him fall onto the sand. "I guess my punches are drawn to him," Naru said, rubbing the back of her neck embarrassed.

**later**

And that's how we got back here on the Island Naru finished explaining.

"It's amazing that you ended up back here," Haruka said solemnly.

"Amazingly unlucky" Naru mumbled under her breath.

"So where are Motoko and the others," Keitaro asked.

"They were out hunting you guys," Haruka replied as she continued to puff her cigarette.

"Well then we should go clear up the mistake," Keitaro said solemnly.

"Are you sure that that is the wisest decision?" Kitsune warned.

"Sure once they see us they will understand the situation," Keitaro said waving off the concerns.

"Or more likely they will end up attacking us again" Naru muttered to herself.

**Meanwhile**

Motoko sighed as she gave her bow a once over. Sure it was a pristine weapon but she still felt empty without her sword.

She could still see it in her mind's eye, the long slightly curved blade extending forward like an extension of herself.

Swinging it back and forth she knew she would defeat the savage this time as the sword right at their mind section.

"What are you doing, you moron" Sarah shouted at her.

Motoko suddenly snapped back to reality where she was holding her bow like a sword against Sarah's chest.

The bow hit the ground. How had she allowed herself to become so distracted during this crucial battle?

"Sorry" Motoko apologized quickly, unable to look Sarah in the eye. "I was just testing my bow's close-range fighting ability,"

Sarah was about to point out how that did make sense when Kanako arrived. "I have finished setting all the traps on the east side." She reported.

"Good job. Plan b, death traps, is now a go." Motoko declared. "Now let's take the back trails to meet back up with Haruka and the others."

**back to the others**

And that is why vampires aren't real Naru concluded. They had been searching for several minutes now and yet to find any trace of the Motoko.

"Come on," Kitsune complained, "where could they all be, it is not like it is a big island,"

"If you were going to complain why didn't you stay behind with Haruka and Su?" Keitaro asked.

"Because Haruka's inexplicable supply of cigarettes would only make me miss my booze more," Kitsune said wallowing in her self pity.

"We have been walking for a while, should we have found them by now?" Shinobu said, nervously drumming her fingers together.

"Don't worry Shinobu, I am sure once we get to higher ground we will find them". Keitaro reassured her. Just as he said that he realized his shoe had hit something. Looking down he had stepped on a rope.

The Trap sprung into action raising the corners of the net. Snagging Naru and Keitaro as it rose, forcing them into a smaller and smaller space.

Kitsune and the others luckily avoided the trap and watched in fascination as the trap did it work. Proudly the net held it's victims in the air out of arm's reach.

"Keitaro, you idiot watch where you're touching me!" Naru screamed as she thrashed about trying to hit him but only making the two of them more tangled.

"Naru, Please stop, you're only making it worse." Keitaro cried out in distress.

Naru struggling lessened. "Yout right, I will hit you once we are out."

"Know that's something you don't see every day on the inter-net." Kitsune joked.

"Would you stop that,"' Naru replied irritated. "There should be a rope to let us down, somewhere."

"There it is," Shinobu said, pointing at it. She started towards it.

"No wait, Shinobu," Keitaro started. "there could be another-" Snap the ground gave way to a pitfall. "-Trap" Ketario finished.

Kitsune, Mutsumi, and Shinobu fell into the hole and landed in a heap at the bottom.

Ow, Kitsune complained as she rubbed her back as she sat up. But before she could get all the way up she heard an ominous rumbling. Whipping toward the ground she saw it was giving way to an even deeper hole.

Luckily most of the ground that gave away ended up being soft dirt, not hard rock so they were relatively okay.

What just happened Shinobu asked as she rubbed her head.

Well, Kitsune answered while spitting dirt out of her mouth. I think we fell into a pitfall trap built on unstable ground.

They were currently in what was probably an old volcanic tunnel. Looking up they were close to 50ft from the surface. The first 20ish feet begin to reach the cave's roof and the pitfall that they entered from extending the rest of the distance.

"What a lucky break" Mutsumi cheerfully as she brushed dirt out of her hair.

"What's dang lucky about this?" Kitsune asked with an edge to her voice.

"We got two cave in ones! It will look great on our scorecard." Mutsumi explained.

Up above them Naru and Keitaro were not doing much better.

"What in the world just happened?'' Keitaro wondered aloud as he peered through the knots of the rope.

"It looks like another trap. This time a pitfall." Naru replied worriedly.

It's way too big to be that. Keitaro returned.

"Well, all I know is there is a giant pit beneath us too deep and dark to see into and we're still stuck in this net," Naru said as she shook the rope that confined her.

The suddenly heard Kitsune call up to them. "Keitaro, Naru are you still up there?"

"Yes, we are" Naru called. "Are you guys okay?" Keitaro added.

"We are alright are you okay?" Shinobu called up.

"Yeah we're fine we are still in the net," Keitaro called back to her.

"Can you get up here and free me from this pervert?" Naru called hopefully.

"Sorry hon," Kitsune answered. "It's almost a 50-foot climb with nothing to hold on to."

"What? You mean I am stuck here." Naru said as she started to thrash around again in the hopes of freeing herself.

"Naru, stop. if we fall we could end up down the hole with everyone else and I don't think we will have the same luck of surviving." Keitaro said in a near panic.

Kitsune, Shinobu and Mutsumi could only here unintelligible arguing from the hole.

"I think we better find another way out," Shinobu said worriedly.

"But what is the best way to escape a cave?" Kitsune asked.

"The best thing to do in any situation where you are trapped is to wait until help arrives." Mutsumi pitched in.

You want us to do nothing. Naru can't kill Keitaro but she could seriously hurt him. And you want us to sit and do nothing?

Mutsumi didn't answer, she was already sitting cross-legged on the ground.

What if we starve before we are found? Kitsune asked.

No response.

Gah, Kitsune shouted. Turning to Shinobu. "Shinobu you're not crazy how do we get out of here?"

"Well, if these caves were formed by lava, as they appear to be, there should be a natural tunnel out of here," Shinobu explained.

"That's great, let's go," Kitsune said as she turned to leave.

"Wait, Kitsune there are dangers in volcanic caves," Shinbou shouted at the drinker. "Like lava pits, toxic gas, and other things."

"Well, we have to get out of here somehow. Unless we want to get thinner than Naru's patients." Kitsune reasoned.

"I think I have an idea," said Shinobu.

**Later**

Motoko was running through the jungle knocking leaves that blocked her path as she went. As she went she prayed to the heavens that Naru, Keitaro, and everyone had stumbled into one of the non deadly traps. As soon as she had found out what happened from Haruka and Su she had taken off to find them, the others had followed.

She couldn't help to feel this was all her fault. If she had had her sword maybe it wouldn't have come to this. No she couldn't think about that now all that matters was if they were okay.

As she broke through into the small clearing she was greeted by a sight that was equal parts reassuring and enraging.

She had found Keitaro and Naru alive, but they were in a very suggestive position in the net. Naru's consistent struggling had made them get more and more tangled until they were stuck like this.

"I can't believe I have been stuck like this with you for three hours," Naru raged as she attempted to struggle more.

Naru please you will make it worse Keitaro pleaded.

Motoko instinctively reached for her sword. "Keitaro you pre-" she stopped mid sentence and she felt the empty spot where her sword should be. She stayed frozen in place unsure what to do.

"Big brother" Kanako cried as she broke into the clearing with everyone else.

They let the two down from their captivity as Motoko continued to think.

"Finally" Naru said as she balled her fist to give Keitaro his punishment.

But as she let her fist fly towards Keitaro she was deflected by Kanako. "Don't you dare hit my brother she devil," she warned.

Naru turned away muttering angrily to herself.

If I may break up this romantic comedy, weren't there more people in your party? Haruka drawled.

"Oh, they're in Motoko's hole." That woke Motoko back up.

"What did you say you pervert." Motoko shouted as she broke her bow across Keitaro's head.

"I mean they are in the pitfall trap." Keitaro corrected himself.

Looking at the broken remains of her bow Motoko made a solemn vow to herself she was going to find that sword if it killed her. Which Kanako would have probably done if Haruka hadn't stopped her.

**I have nothing to put here**

Luckily they had plenty of rope from the net. So getting down into the pit would be easy.

First they secured it to a tree then they started lowering it down.

"I can't believe we made the mistake of building our trap over a cavern," Motoko said as she shifted her grip on the rope as they lowered it into the cave.

"Okay the rope is down, grab on and we will pull you up" Naru shouted down into the hole.

"Okay pull us up," A reply called.

They pulled and pulled expecting to see the face of Kitsune or Shinobu come up. But instead two creepy masked heads came up.

It's headhunter Keitaro shouted in fear as he took off running.

Kitsune and Shinobu lifted their masks. "What? this is just our cave survival outfits," Kitsune said.

"Yeah it's dangerous down here," Shinobu confirmed.

"Hey, Where is Mutsumi?" Naru asked.

Mutsumi, still sitting in the cave by herself: You will see guys, we will be rescued any minute now… Any minute now, staying where you are always works. Yup you guys will definitely see any minute now…...

Well, that's chapter two. In chapter 3 I plan to go into Motoko trying to find her sword. It might be awhile, I have something else I need to finish first.
