The seasons began to change as the weather grew colder and colder with each day. Sebastian had begun to stay overnight at the farm as their relationship grew deeper and deeper. The two were nearly inseparable. Fia had become so accustomed to his presence that her bed felt empty and cold on the nights when he wasn't there.

Near the end of autumn, there was a rainy day. Fia went out to the docks to look for Sebastian, but surprisingly, he wasn't there. Though in the distance on the beach, she saw someone who appeared to be out of place. She decided to step toward him.

There was something off about this man as she drew closer. The man looked slightly transparent, as if he could flicker out of existence at any moment. Though it freaked Fia out a bit, she still approached him, albeit with caution.

He turned to her as she approached. "Are you in love, lass?" he slowly asked.

Fia's eyes widened in surprise. "Yes," she confirmed with a nod. "I feel as if I may one day drown in my love. He's the most wonderful man I've ever met. I want to be with him forever." Her cheeks flushed as she thought of Sebastian. "Though I understand that marriage is different here, and I don't know what to do to propose marriage to him."

"To marry someone, you will need one of these," the ghostly man stated, pulling a beautiful cerulean shell out of his pocket. It was attached to a silver chain and gleamed even in the rain. "This is called a Mermaid Pendant. If given to the one you love, the two of you will be married within the week." His cold hands shoved the pendant into Fia's hands. "I have no use for it anymore, but I'm sure you could use it. Please take it and give it to the one you love."

Flustered, she tried to give it back. "But sir, I can't accept something like this," she spluttered. "It's worth too much for you to just give away! Please allow me to pay you!" Fia sifted through her purse and produced a large sum of money, shoving it into his hand in return. "Thank you so much, sir!"

"Here's to your happy ending, lass," he said, pocketing the money and wandering off into the forest beside the beach.

She watched and could've sworn she saw him literally fade away. Glancing down at the pendant in her hand, she realized that he was a wonderfully kind man. Unable to keep her beaming smile from her face, she hurriedly rushed up toward the mountain where Sebastian lived.

.

Sebastian sat in his room, chewing his nicotine gum as he tapped away on his keyboard for work. He needed to get his project finished soon, especially if he wanted to take Fia out on a date that coming weekend. His heart raced a little as he thought about her. There had never been another person in existence whom he felt this way about. If possible, he wanted to spend his life with her and build a family of their own.

But how could he ever go about finding a Mermaid Pendant? He'd heard from his mother that one only came across one when they were truly ready to commit their lives to the person they love. What was holding him back from acquiring one? Sebastian loved Fia. He'd never been more sure of anything in his life. So why wasn't fate bringing him a Mermaid Pendant?

A knock on his bedroom door startled him out of his thoughts. His head snapped up as he called out, "Come in!"

Fia entered as gracefully as she always did, beaming toward him. She seemed to flutter over to him and perch herself on his lap as he rolled out to give her room. Her arms draped around his shoulders as she planted a sweet kiss on his lips.

Sebastian gratefully accepted the kiss, wrapping his arms around her middle. "Hey babe, I was just thinking about you," he told her, blushing. "How's your day been?" He scooted his chair back to his desk and rested his chin on her shoulder as he went back to typing. "Anything interesting happen?"

"Actually yes," she began, wondering if he would believe her. "I'm pretty sure I saw a ghost."

He let out a snort of laughter, smiling. "Yeah, what was that like?"

"He was talking to me about love, and then he gave me this." Fia fished the Mermaid Pendant out of her pocket and presented it to her boyfriend. "Sebby, I want to give this to you. Would it be okay if we spent the rest of our lives together? I promise I'll be a good wife to you."

Sebastian's eyes widened in shock. For a moment, he couldn't even make a sound. His hand reached out and accepted the Mermaid Pendant. "Yes, Fia! I'd want nothing more!" He pressed his lips to hers as he tucked the pendant into his pocket. His fingers threaded through her hair as they both stood, refusing to break lip contact.

Together they stumbled over to Sebastian's bed and tumbled down onto it, a pile of flesh and fabric and lust. Soon, their clothing was scattered all over the floor as it became all about their lust. But neither of them had felt so happy in their lives.

.

Three days later, the two stood in the middle of town square in front of everyone in the town as Lewis united them in marriage. Cheers erupted from the townspeople as they kissed, sealing their vows. A large party was thrown in the Stardrop Saloon to celebrate their marriage, and at the end of the night Sebastian and Fia escaped to the farm.

"We're married now!" Fia excitedly giggled, a little tipsy from drinking with their family and friends. "Can you believe it, Sebby? I'm your wife now!" She eyed the pendant around his neck, eyes sparkling like the stars in the night. "From today on, I'm Mrs. McCarthy!"

Sebastian bit back a pleasured groan from hearing her claim his last name as hers. "Well, Mrs. McCarthy, what do you say we go inside and have some fun?" he purred into her ear. He lifted her princess style and carried her into their house, locking the door behind them.

She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him feverishly. Quickly slipping out of her dress once he set her down on the bed, her body beckoned him in. Fia reached out, pulling him down onto the bed with her. "You're mine all night," she moaned into his ear.

He accepted her words as they dove into a night of passion with each other.

.

A few months later, Fia sat in their bathroom with a small plastic stick in her hand. Two blue lines appeared on it and her heart leapt into her throat. She blinked a few times, just to be sure, but the lines never faded. Letting out an excited scream, she nearly fell off of her perch on the sink.

Footsteps hammered down the hallway until there was an anxious knock at the door. "Fia?!" Sebastian called through the door. "Fia, what's wrong?! Did something happen?!"

She jumped down and threw open the door, jumping into her husband's arms, giggling triumphantly. "Sebby, we did it!" she sang. Fia pecked his lips and snuggled close to him. "We did it! We did it! We did it!"

"What did we do?" he asked, surprised by her sudden affection and delighted mood. "I don't really understand."

Fia pulled back and gazed into his eyes lovingly. "I'm pregnant!" she announced. "We're going to have a baby! I'm so excited!" She then hugged him tightly.

For a moment, Sebastian just stood there in shock, and then it hit him. His embrace tightened as he laughed with joy. "We're having a baby!" he cried out. The words he had never thought he'd say aloud suddenly came to light and enveloped him. He could hardly contain his joy. "Fi, we're going to be parents!"

The two held each other in the hallway for a long period of time, over the moon with delight. Now all that was left was to tell Robin.
