Introduction of the character

It was a cold, damp morning in 1698 when a hero was born and named Caspian. Caspian was originally a Sri Lankan but later moved to Britain along with his cousins and siblings to work in the British Navy.

Caspian was loved by all his crew members, family, and all other people who knew him. He was simply the nicest man in town who was willing to help anyone in need of it. He was a very brave man, he was not rich nor was he poor, he was just a normal man who would never show off. Living in England as an Immigrant was very hard, especially in the 18th century. People would stare at you as if you were someone who is not their kind. Caspian always tried to make a good first impression on anyone he met and always dressed immaculately. He did not mean to show off, he just tried to be his best. Caspian held the rank of captain in the British Navy.

Chapter 1- The new Captain

It was a sunny Friday morning in London when the loud ring of an alarm clock awoke the birds outside and the human who was trying to sleep peacefully, "Aaawww! Not now Mum! I don't want to go to school! Let me sleep! A healthy child needs to sleep!" Caspian said, half asleep. He had to wake up ten minutes later, brushed his teeth, took a bath, changed into his uniform, and went to get breakfast but checked his clock first, "Oh no, I'm late! It's 6 o'clock and I have to be at the Harbor by five-thirty. What do I do now?" Caspian asked his pet eagle. The eagle did not reply. Caspian gave up asking his eagle on what to do since it did not even listen to him and assumed that the eagle said yes. A minute or two later, he rushed out the door without breakfast and then jumped on his horse. He thought his deepest fears would be true and assumed that he would be sacked. He went in anyway, expecting a one hour lecture from Mr. Tin, his boss. He made it to the harbor as fast as he could to find a big surprise waiting for him. He was walking near the docks and thought that this would be the end of his career as a sailor but was glad to see Tin with a smile on his face.

Tin was not here to sack him but give him some good news, "Caspian, I have some good news for you! I also want to tell you then you shall not be late again unless you want to lose your job." Tin informed straightforwardly.

"Yes, sir. I will not be late again and what is the good news you were talking about?" He asked looking very puzzled, "I hope the 'good news' is not bad." Caspian continued, nervously.

"Oh no, no, you're not going to be fired. I want to tell you that you're promoted. You will be the captain of a ship, a new ship to be precise." Tin answered.

"Wow! Which ship?"

"You will be the captain of Legend. She's new and was completed yesterday with a little paint and polish done in the morning. I think it is time I introduce you to your new crew. Your first mate will be your cousin, Spoons, your lookout will be George, the ship's guard will be Andrew, your chef and ship engineer will be Ramson, the keeper of keys will be Zack and you will be captain of the ship. You will find the rest of your crew on your new ship. let's have a cup of tea, Shall we?" Tin said, introducing Caspian's new crew. Tin got a cup of tea for everyone in the crew and celebrated. Caspian got to know his crew members better and asked about each other for some time until it was time to see their new ship.

"Here it is. Your new ship!" Tin announced. Caspian gazed upon the ship as if he was looking into a gate to heaven.

"wow, this ship is huge! I think it's a new ship of the line! A naval warship!" Zack exclaimed with excitement.

"You will be traders and pirate hunters." Tin informed.

"Wow! P-p-pirate hunters! Amazing!" Spoons exclaimed. Tin and Caspian spoke for a while and Caspian got to know more about the job.

"Well, come along then, don't want to waste yer time talkin', eh Caspian. You better go inside yer new ship!" Tin announced, leading the way into the newly made ship.

The crew then walked into the ship and celebrated, "Would yer like a bottle o' rum?" a drunk crewmate said, Caspian and Spoons politely refused since they didn't drink.

"Congrats mi capn'," an old crewmate said, followed by many others. Caspian then found himself with Tin. Tin told Caspian more about this job and made him prepared for the tough tomorrow he was going to face. After all, catching pirates was not an easy job! "You need to stay at sea for a long time, Caspian. You know what happens to many sailors now, eh? Well, they all die of scurvy. but it's your lucky day today young man! I happen to know the cure! All you need is a little vitamin C that you find in lime. Your men will count on you, Caspian. You treat them right and they'll treat you right but you don't and then they'll betray you. Did you know that Christopher Columbus's men were plotting to kill him? They were angry about their shortage of supplies and reached just before the plot was accomplished!" Tin explained,

"Yes captain, I'll count on you for advice," Caspian answered. They talked and talked even more about being a Captain and the courage you need to be one and walked up to the tailor's shop,

"I have a surprise for you capn'," Tin coughed, smoking his pipe, "Here's your new captain's uniform! Do ya like it?" Tin asked, holding a brand new captain's uniform.

"Wow! I-I I can't believe it... How could I repay you?" Caspian exclaimed, glancing at the immaculate new Captain's uniform. After Caspian's surprise, he was to be ready for another one! Tin led Caspian to the map shop and Caspian was excited. Caspian personally wanted a scroll map with a gold case which was a little expensive. His wish was soon granted by his boss, Tin. Caspian was so happy that he smiled the whole day. Caspian went back to his ship after everyone left and had some time for himself, he did not like the busy, smelly streets of London and would always have some time for himself and have a little peace. He was preparing himself for the busy tomorrow he was going to face. "Catching pirates and slave traders, what a life!' Caspian thought to himself. He knew he was going to be busy tomorrow, but he never expected the day to come so fast. As a new day began, so did a new life. As the sleepy captain hit his clock off the table, he got up, checked the time and date, looked at his daily schedule, made some breakfast, and cleaned his bed. Caspian got a quick, satisfying glance of his new map and uniform with a satisfying sigh. He sat on the table to have his soup and bread when he spotted an unwelcome visitor... A rat. Caspian immediately jumped from his stool, grabbed his new broomstick, and chased the rat, "You little rat that caused the plague! Get out of my house!" He shouted, chasing the rat. He chased and chased but the pest didn't go away. After about 10 minutes, it was finally gone! Caspian was just about to sit on his stool again when there was another guest, a human guest, to be precise, "Ah! what now? Another rat knocking on the door?" Caspian groaned as he walked towards the door. He opened the door and was pleased to meet one of his favorite cousins, Jaymen.

"Havin' soup, eh? I heard some good news!"

"Good news? what good news?" Caspian asked, puzzled, "Oh, right the news that I got promoted yesterday?" Caspian asked.

"Yeah, yeah good luck on your new job!" Jaymen said happily.

"Thanks for the wishes! So, how's your shop doing?" Caspian asked, "I heard your sales are going pretty well and you sell the best quality items available on the market! I was planning to buy your new map but Tin got me one anyway." Caspian said, leaning towards the wall still wearing his pajamas.

"I see you need to have your breakfast. I'll see you at the docks." Jaymen said politely.

The cousins said goodbye and decided to meet at the docks after Caspian finished his breakfast. Caspian came back to find his soup as cold as ice. He did not like soup and especially did not like cold soup, he drank it anyway because he did not want to waste it. He finished his breakfast, took a bath, Changed into his new Captain's uniform, and Got on his horse. He was early today but he was still hungry. He was so hungry that he decided to buy an apple, which he rarely did. He went back to the docks to meet Jaymen as he promised. "Hey, Caspian I got you a map as a gift." Jaymen said, Handing over a scroll map with Caspian's initials in gold, "I made this for you. I know Tin gave you one but this is a custom made map with a wood cover! Why don't you use this instead?" Jayemen said with a smile on his face.

Caspian took the map and thanked Jaymen for it. They talked for a while until it was time for Caspian to go. "Good luck pirate huntin'!" Jaymen said.

"Thanks, Jaymen!" Caspian said and then went off to the ship. Caspian got on the ship for his first day and his men greeted him with a loud "G' day, Captain!"

Spoons came running over to Caspian, he seemed worried, "Caspian, we have a problem. The ship's parts have been robbed!"

"Robbed? Robbed!" Caspian shouted, "I knew these pirates would've done something! How could I be so blind!" Caspian shouted with rage in his eyes. "what was robbed anyways?" He asked calmly.

"The Coffee barrels we were supposed to bring to Germany. Only ten were stolen, sir." Spoons replied. Caspian got calmed down and checked the storage. Luckily, Nothing else was stolen. Caspian sighed in relief and asked some of his men if they had seen the thieves. But none of them had seen the thieves. Even Roger who was on night duty didn't spot anyone. Caspian decided to not waste time and start his adventure. He decided to use Jaymen's map. Caspian got to know his men much better. Caspian had to deliver some of the remaining coffee to Germany which would take some days to do. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew were having wine and rum. They set sail and were off into the wide, wide sea in seconds and Caspian was in high alert for pirates.

"Looks like they're making quite a racket, eh Capn'?" Spoons asked. There was a sudden CRASH beneath the deck.

"Spoons, could you check on what's going on down there?" Caspian asked, his face gone pale.

"Sure, sir" Spoons replied, he hurried down to find a big surprise, it was Roger, he'd gotten drunk and jumped on a table, smashing it to pieces. Everyone stared at Spoons as he walked in, he picked up Roger and began to clean the mess, others joined in too. In about five minutes, the crew managed to clean the mess. Roger was still drunk and the crew did not know when he'll get sober.

The ship was at sea for at least twenty hours by now and Caspian was writing his daily Diary entry:

January 6th, 1725

We are transporting goods to Germany from Britain. The weather is cold and wet. I'm keeping out a sharp eye for pirates and I don't want them messing with my ship. I must deliver the goods as promised, we've already lost a few barrels of coffee and Roger was not alert to catch the robbers. It was a rough day yesterday, the weather was really bad and waves as high as fifteen feet. Legend has done a good job coping with the rough seas, she's unsinkable, she's not fast, not stylish, but unsinkable and seaworthy. George has his report and I have to leave.

Caspian Rango.

"Pirates! Pirates!" A voice was heard from the deck, It was George, he'd spotted pirates.

"Secure the cargo! Get the guns ready!" Spoons shouted, running to the decks, followed by Andrew and Zack. The crew was prepared for anything to happen. The guns were all ready and all sails were set and then, they saw it, it was the dark flag of a pirate ship. The pirates shot but missed. this time, Legend shot one cannon and punctured the hull of the pirate ship, water seeped in, Legend shot again but missed this time. Caspian never wanted to kill anyone, even if it was a pirate so he just shot a pirates hand. The two ships collided but the pirate ship was no match for Legend, the pirate ship was crushed and all the men in the ship were swung into the freezing water. Caspian helped get all the pirates into the ship and locked them in the prison cell. Legend had barely a scratch but the pirate ship was turned into bits and pieces of wood. The treasure the pirates had stolen was also returned to the owners.

It was a gloomy day and the ship was nearing the Netherlands. Caspian and his crew decided to drop the pirate attack survivors there. The pirates were taken to the Netherland prison to be executed. Caspian and Spoons were great cousins and friends, they shared many things in common including their dislike towards the idea of execution, "There's always time for a man to change, my father always used to say." Caspian told to Spoons after dropping off the pirates.

"I agree, I don't like execution and it's really hard to watch too!" Spoons replied, "We're gettin' closer to Germany." Spoons said, holding his map which was not as good as Caspian's but seemed fine.

Caspian saw Spoons' old map and decided to give him the one Tin had given him earlier. Spoons was grateful and thanked Caspian. They both became much closer than before and acted as if they were both just friends, ignoring the nine-year age gap and their posts. The days passed and it was finally just one day before they dock in Bremerhaven. There were no pirates and the seas were calm and warm. Caspian loved to enjoy the cool breeze on warmer days like this, he didn't like it, he loved it, he felt like the day should never end but the day must always end and that's what makes it a day. Caspian wrote about how peaceful the day was in his diary at twelve o'clock in the morning. Yes, the day had come!

That day, They were so close to Germany when their rum party which Spoons and Caspian never attended was interrupted by Ramson, "You don't wante to catche the zcurvy, do you? you'll bettir drinke the lime or you wills get the zgurvy and die!" He said, passing out spoons of lime to the crewmates. they had their spoons of lime when they were interrupted again, "Land! Land! I've spotted land ahead!" George shouted. The crew was so excited that threw their hats into the air! Caspian steered towards the harbor with a proud smile across his face.
