A/N: My first ever SenRu fic. I just watched it on facebook, recalling my favorite basketball anime and then I found out about Deep Purple. I got addicted to this pairing. Since then, I've read more fics and decided to create my own. I love their chemistry. I don't know much about the manga after the anime so I won't be including them and other bench players probably. Hope you'll like this story of mine

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from Slam Dunk. (I really don't know why we need disclaimers since this is a fanfic site but I just want to do this as all fics I've read have this.)

Few days from now, graduation will be held for Shohoku students which is also their seniors last few days with the basketball team. They decided to have a field trip to celebrate it and to also create a memorable moment before they part ways and start their university journey. It is actually the team's first non-related basketball trip ever. Ayako planned everything, from bits to bits, and the others go along to just relax for a while, except for the fox of course.

Waste of money. That's all is in his mind right now. The budget for each member cost him three days of allowance and it pisses him off. He is saving it for a new training shoes.

"Pfff." The so-called Kitsune is staring silently at bright blue sea, waving calmly, while his mind is complaining over and over. Even though this trip annoys him, somehow, in the corner of his mind, he is glad to come along. Not because of the bonding, but of the peaceful aura the sea brought to him. He loves the sea. Waves hitting the shore softly. Birds flying in the middle, adding sweet serenity. The blue sky meeting the sea. Clouds covering some part of it. A beauty. Serenity. Tranquility. Perfect for his personality. He inhales the fresh air deeply, recalling the reason why on earth did he allowed himself to participate in their team's field trip.

When Kogure asked him to join, he immediately declines. He may like the beach and seas, but socializing is not something he enjoys. If he is alone, then it's fine.

"Tch." He clacked his tongue again.

Declining them is not the end of the story, unfortunately for him. Akagi, the cleverest captain of all, called his Nana (grandmother) the same morning of their trip and mentioned this stupid vacation which his Nana insisted him to join. He actually forgotten about it until that morning.

"Kaede my dear. You should join them. Be grateful for having a sincere captain. Thank him by joining the trip. It is rude to not participate with your team."

"Hn." There's no way he can ever decline a request from his Nana. She is his dearest person. Nothing should ever disappoint his Grandma, especially by him. He will do anything for his Nana. And the fact that Akagi uses her to get his ways, outrages him. Kogure and Ayako know this weakness of him as well. But good thing, his seniors are not using this Nana-card all the time. Only for occassions like this as they are sure, he'll never participate by his own.

The captain found out about his weakness when his Nana decided to visit their gym one time. Good thing, the others were not present but only his three seniors. They noticed his submissive actions towards the lady and thus, it became their entry card to him.

He sighed and sighed again as he watches the birds flying freely above the calm sea.

"Rukawa-kun." Ayako called and saw her approaching. "Senpai." Ayako is one of the many women he actually respects. Not because of the fan he used to smack the idiots but because she is not annoying. All girls not related to him are very much annoying, with the exception of their manager.

"Let's head back to the villa for a snack. Pretty sure you are hungry as we all are." He complied and followed. His plan is to sleep the entire vacation. Probably look for a basketball court and just practice himself. He still needs to beat his greatest rival of all, Ryonan's ace.

"Damn Kitsune!" The red head yelled from afar. "How long are you going to keep us waiting?" He found his teammates under the parasol having their snacks.

"Who cares about you? Doaho." he muttered. Sakuragi glared back at him, fisting and ready-ing himself for a fight. Akagi smacked his head from behind. "Enough. Can't you both behave just for today?"

"Never." they both exclaimed and turned their heads away from each other. Rukawa sat with Akagi, Kogure and Ayako.

"Here's yours Rukawa." Kogure handed him two burgers and a drink. "Thank you Senpai." He took the food and started to munch them.

"I'm sorry Rukawa. We used your Grandma again." Kogure with his sincere apology. "This is the last time. We promise." Akagi smirked as well as Ayako.

"Hn." was all he replied and continued with his food. Kogure is trustworthy, so maybe, just this once, he'll hold on to what he said.

They are having snacks in front of their villa. It was a wooden type bungalow house, elevated from the ground with a wide balcony. It is an enormous one, perfect for a huge number of people and also for their incredible heights. Somehow, a part of him admitted that it is actually worth the money. The house is few meters away from the beach and surrounded by trees, grass and other houses with the same type. The area is soothing and harmonious. 'Nana would love it here.' He thought and decided to bring her here the next time.

"Ayako. Good job. This place is very great." Akagi complimented the manager. "Where'd you find it?"

The manager smiled. "From Aida-san. She suggested and covered an article about this. Good thing it's new so the price is still low. And with our head count, we got a great discount."

"Nice. You are the best Ayako-chan." said by Kogure.

A crowd noise was suddenly heard approaching their villa. "Isn't that... Ryonan team?" Ryota pointing at the familiar faces of men.

Mitsui, sipping his soda, turned to where he is pointing at. And it is them alright without wearing their uniform. He shrugged. It's not like he's concerned.

Sakuragi narrowed his eyes and saw his most hated member of the blue team. "Fukuda? That teme!" He stood and the other team noticed him as he is the only red-hair they ever know. "Why are you all here?"

"Sakuragi?!" Hikoichi called out. "What are you doing here?" He then, noticed the other team behind the red-hair friend of his. "And the others too?"

Akagi approached Uozumi. "Uozumi. Having a departing celebration as well?" The other center agreed. "Small world isn't it? Can't believe, of all people, we bumped into yours."

Rukawa scanned the group. There are only two faces he remembers in this team. Uozumi the comparable center for their captain and the other one is their ace. His greatest rival and the only person he ever wanted to beat at this moment, Sendoh Akira. But the latter is nowhere to be found. He shrugged his shoulder and continued on his food. 'Who cares anyway.'

"We're heading to our villa." Uozumi said to Akagi. He lifted the key and read the number. "104."

Akagi paused for a second. "Then I guess, the one next to us?" Pointing at the wooden house besides theirs. Their room is 105.

"Oh." the only word the boss monkey can utter. "Well considering our numbers, these two, I think, are the biggest one. So no wonder." Akagi just nodded to the bigger ones statement.

"Hikoichi?" Sakuragi called out as he searched for a certain person that seems missing from the group. "Where's Sendoh? I can't see him." Koshino sighed and replied instead. "Washroom. And probably lost. He's taking so long."

Rukawa, still, is not concerned by the commotion. The only thing on his mind is how he can sped up the time to be home. He should be either sleeping or practicing.

A tap on his shoulder interrupted him.

"Hi." The guy behind said. His cold stare turned and looked up to the only person missing in the other group, smiling down to him. 'The heck?'

"Sendoh." Ayako and Kogure was surprised by his sudden appearance. "Kogure-san, Ayako-san." At that moment, he feels proud of himself. He remembered their names, but forgotten that his hand is still on the coldest member of the red team.

Rukawa shook his right shoulder to remove the unwelcomed hand and then dusting it, as if the one that touches it is filthy. Sendoh, a little surprised, but is expecting it anyway. He chuckled at the young ones cold gesture.

Kogure and Ayako just gave him an apologetic smile, implying to forgive him as it is his normal.

"Akira! Teme! Where have you been?! You took longer." Koshino shouted angrily as the group headed towards him. Sendoh rubbed his nape. "Am I? I got lost." laughing softly.

"Doaho." The fox uttered which Sendoh heard but just smiled on it.

Sakuragi marched towards Sendoh "Hey Spiky head. Don't tell me you followed me here just to have a shot with the tensai for a one-on-one?"

Rukawa dulled his eyes. "As if you'll win." and sipped his soda.

"What did you say Kitsune? Even you can't win against him, you weakling." The red head was silenced by Ayako's fan as he cried in pain and mumbled. "He started it Aya-chan."

The others can only laugh at the scene.

"Well," Uozumi interrupted. "Let's head to our villa then.

Afternoon.

Everyone is enjoying the beach. It is surprising though that our dear Rukawa joins in but still distancing himself from the circle. He still is a normal person after all who just wants to soak in the beach. His whole body is under the cold water, while his beautiful face is revealed above it, watching afar. Enjoying the view of nothingness.

"Why don't you join us Rukawa-kun?" Kogure approached him.

"No thanks." Eyes still in front.

Out of nowhere, a beach ball hits his head that even Kogure was too surprised and panics.

"Nyahahahaha. How about that Kitsune?" He heard Ryota and Mitsui laughing with Sakuragi. Too busy laughing, he didn't noticed that the ball was returned back with full force straight to his face.

"Kitsune! Temeee!" Sakuragi complained as he held his nose.

"He returns!" Mitsui muttered and laughed harder, not knowing the ball is thrown right at him.

Ayako just laughed. It is good that these boys have get along so well. Their bond during trainings and tournaments have deepened. An idea suddenly came to her for their next day while they are throwing and tossing the ball to each other.

Rukawa returns to his position a while ago. He only wished for a peaceful moment and this red hair idiot is disturbing him. And speaking of disturbance...

"Having fun?" The same voice from this morning. He looked up and as expected he's crouching down to him with that odd smile. 'What is this guy's problem?' He thought.

"Hn." He returned to the only view he cared for. He heard him chuckled for a second.

"Hey spiky head. Why don't you join us?" Sakuragi said. "Don't waste your time talking to a stone. Nyahahaha."

"Doaho." He muttered softly but didn't move.

Sendoh smirked at the young one's murmurs. "I have to go back to my team. Maybe some other time Sakuragi." He looked down to him again. "Later, Rukawa." and then left marching in the sea towards his teammates. Rukawa watched him leave. 'Weird.'

"Aaargh. You're scared with the Tensai." Sakuragi laughed and the ball was thrown to his face again.

Back to the Ryonan side, "What are you doing there?" Koshino asked the new captain as he approached, walking through the calm water.

"Nothing. Just came to say hi." He replied.

Koshino looked behind and notice the other team's ace looking at nowhere. "Why you keep talking to that Rukawa? You know he never responds."

Sendoh looked back. "He's a challenge." smirking. "And you know me Koshino, I like to challenge myself."

"Tch. Whatever."

"Two tablets Nana." He called his Grandma when the night came to remind her of her medicine. It is one of his duty, to make sure that his grandma would take her medication at all times. He went at the back of the villa so he could be in peace with his Grandmother. "Yes I am." his reply when asked if he's enjoying himself. He is actually, but only during his alone time. They talked for a while and ending it after a few minutes. "Good night Nana." he said and hit the end button.

"Nana?" He heard from his back. The only strange voice surprising him everytime he is alone. Eyes rolled in annoyance before he turned. "Girlfriend?" Sendoh asked and handed him a can of soda.

Rukawa stared at the soda which made his eyebrows met. 'What in the world is this guy doing?' It is very strange. First, the tap on his shoulder, then the unexpected visit in the beach and then this? A can of soda? 'What is he trying to accomplish?' Sure they have one-on-one match from quite some time after the Kanagawa tournament but it's all about basketball. No converse after it. Just playing and when it's done, they'll both leave in peace.

When the older guy noticed his silence, he opened the can himself, took his hand and put it on his palm. "It's just a soda, it won't hurt. No poison."

This unexplainable actions confuses him. He looked at the opened can, he is thirsty anyways "Thanks." He said.

"Aaah. Finally you spoke." He grinned. "And you are welcome Rukawa."

He ignored him and drank from the can.

"So. Nana? Girlfriend?" he repeated his question. Eyes rolled again but finds himself answering him. "Grandma." he clarified just to shut him up and leave him alone.

"I see. What a nice nickname. You might be a Grandma's boy, aren't you?" He smiled. The fox turned and saw the smiling face of his rival. "Doaho." was all he can say. Sendoh chuckled. He never expects an answer anyway.

"There you are." They turned and saw Ayako. "I was looking for the both of you. Can you come with me? We are having a group meeting." Her eyes turned to the older one. "Including Ryonan."

"Oh. What kind of meeting is this?" Sendoh asked, surprised by the sudden news. Rukawa didn't bother to wait for Ayako's response and just left the two of them. Sendoh watched him go.

All the member of each team gathered in the balcony when Sendoh approached. "Wow." he uttered. It was rare to see the two team in group.

"Captain. Where have you been?" Uozumi asked standing above the balcony. Sendoh looked up. "Ah. Just strolling around."

"Listen." Everyone is startled by Akagi's voice. "Ayako suggested a game we can do tomorrow. Uozumi and I agreed and requesting for all of you to participate. We only need six pairs."

Everyone started hissing and mumbling.

"Gori. A basketball matchup? I thought we're having a break?" Sakuragi complained. "But I don't mind. The Tensai will beat anyone anyway. Nyahahaha." Fukuda, beside him, just squinted.

Akagi shook. "No. It's not basketball."

Some of the members were surprised. It was unexpected. Their world revolves only and only in Basketball.

"Volleyball." Ayako announced, standing beside Shohoku's captain. "Beach Volleyball."

"WHAAAAT?" Almost everyone's reaction with the unexpected sport.

Shohoku's manager continued before everyone started complaining. "It's always been basketball at school and I think we need a break from it from time to time."

"Tch." Rukawa clacked. 'What Volleyball?' He knows the word volleyball but he haven't tried it before and never even had the interest to play it.

"Teme Gori. Why volleyball? That's a girl's game." Sakuragi, the always new to everything except for gang fights, threw tantrums at his place. Fukuda squinted his eyes again. 'Born to be stupid.'

Akagi shouted towards the red-haired colleague. "Shut up. Men's volleyball exists you idiot."

"Doaho." Rukawa uttered.

"I need hands to volunteer in pair. The match is two-on-two."

"Sign us in." Mitsui and Ryota raised their hands and clapped with confidence. The word 'whoa' surrounds the air, admiring the two.

"Micchy! Ryocchi! You betrayed our mother sports." Sakuragi said. "Shut up. You clueless idiot." Mitsui shouted. "You know nothing."

"Want to participate?" Sendoh, yet again, interrupted the stoic guy of all.

'Him again.' He sighed, without looking at him. The other ace is really acting weird. He appears like a mushroom anywhere. "I don't know the game, senpai." he replied, indirectly declining his offer.

Sendoh was stunned. "Senp..." he let out a laugh waving his hand. "Sendoh is fine. No need to be formal."

He ignored him and didn't respond, arms still crossed to his chest waiting for the meeting to end so he could sleep the night and sleep again the next morning.

"We're born athletes." He heard him again. Eye on the corner to look at the man beside him, listening. "I'm pretty sure you'll get it with just a few trainings. You're a genius anyway. Also, everyone is new to the said sport. So pretty much, no expert. But maybe not Mitsui-san and Miyagi." He pointed at them.

"I'll pass." He insisted.

Sendoh elbowed his side a little. "Come on. It's just spike and toss."

No response.

"Hey Captain!" The spiky head called out, catching the attention of all the men in the area, including the freshman beside him. Well, it is Sendoh anyway, no wonder everyone is keen to know what he is about to say. 'He really is an idiot.' Rukawa sterned and looked on the other side. With no hesitation, he pulled Rukawa's left wrist from his chest and lifted it with his. Rukawa's eyes widened, shocked, too surprise to even protest. "Me and Rukawa."

Silence surrounds the ground. For the reason, maybe because the two aces and at the same time, rivals, will be partners for the first time or because Sendoh is holding Rukawa.

"Did he just..." Ayako couldn't complete his sentence while Kogure is in complete shock. Akagi and Uozumi are both speechless as well.

"Akira?" Koshino and Hikoichi couldn't believe their Captain's action.

Sendoh blinks and blinks, confused by the crowd's reaction. He turned to Rukawa who is also dumbfounded.

The red-hair broke the silence and everyone is back to the present. "You spikey head. Why are you teaming up with that Kitsune! Why not me?"

Sendoh let Rukawa's wrist go, ignoring his surroundings. "Sorry Sakuragi. Maybe next time. Why not pair yourself with Fukuda?"

"What?!" He shrieked and looked at the guy beside him. "Why would a Tensai wanted to pair with this nameless guy."

"Okay. Fukuda and Hanamichi." Akagi announced without waiting for the approval of the pairing. "Gori! That's unacceptable."

"Okay here's our final list. Koshino and Ikegami. Mitsui and Miyagi. Rukawa and Sendoh. Uekusa and Kogure. Hanamichi and Fukuda." Uozumi announced. "And to make it six pairs. Me and Akagi will be paired."

"Eeeeh?"

Rukawa is still in awe. This guy besides him keeps on bugging him since this morning. He even has the audacity to announce them as pair without his consent and even held his wrist. 'Idiot. Hope the ground will swallow you.' he cursed him in his mind.

"Oh. Oh." Sendoh rubbed his nape. "That's a strong pair. Sorry. No turning back now." He apologized after hearing the two strongest centers are teaming up.

"Tch. Doaho." He mumbled, letting him feel his annoyance from his voice. Sendoh laughed a little.

"6am." Rukawa heard Sendoh speak. He turned his attention to him. "I'll wait for you outside. I'll teach you how the game works. Don't sleep on me princess." And then he left, waving his hands goodbye.

'Prin...' he clenched his teeth. Day 1 and this guy is already making this trip even worse.
