Meeting the Family-Okashira Osamu

"This granddaughter mine is powerful. And you are but a mere mortal. A..." The voice supressed vomit. "Human. Are you able to make Erma happy?"

"Our." The Spider-Yokai woman beside the might Tengu reminded her husband. She went ignroed

Connor had been dreading this. When Erma had convinced her parents to bring him along to the family union. He had been nervous but exitced to see what other kinds of monsters were in his crush's family, and see where Mrs. Emiko had grown up. So far, Japan had been a great trip, despite the various bumps...

Like when the twins attacked him and Erma fought them.

Or when Rin tried to choke him and Erma's father to death. Unlike Sam. Connor was STILL catching his breath

Our that trio of bullies...

Maybe his sister...No.

Connor may have only been six years old, but he knew one thing for certain: Regardless of whatever happened the one time she babysat her, His sister was wrong about Erma. And she didn't know any of these people either, so whatever crazy tjoughts she had, he was NOT to embrace them. Besides, Erma's uncle and other aunts had been very nice!

Somehow, it had been let slip that, in the eyes of many, he and Erma were 'kawaii', whatever that meant. But he did know that now, everyone thought tehy were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Actually no, he knew HOW it had been slipped out. Connor planned on making Momo and Mitsu pay for that later...as soon he figured out HOW to do such a thing without Erma being there to bail him out.

Now here he was, sitting in front of the (he guessed) King and Queen of the Yokai, both of whom where staring him down, To make matters worse, Osamu was in warrior forml towering over all and nearly engulfing the whole room.

"Answer, boy!"

"Y-yes sir?" Connor responded, although it was less an answer and more a question. He was only six years old after all, he wasn't sure...

"Are you sure?"

Connor nodded again

Osamu suddenly grinned, thinking he had the human in front of him.

"Tell me boy...Are you man enough to sacrifice yourself for..."

"Yes."

Connor had answered without a moment's hesitation and a stern face. He then repeated himself.

"Yes."

Erma had helped him, Terry, Amy and Felicia out of so many jams without much of a thought of her own safety. Connor knew his crush was strong...but to think of someone hurting her? It made him angry.

Erma; the kindest person he had ever known, who never made fun of his hair, freckles or teeth. Whose smile brightened his day.

If someone hurt her, 6 year old and very mortal Connor would be happily ready to get hurt for her.

His face suddenly softened, and Connor was quick to add:

"Although to be fair sir? Erma is pretty darn strong on her own..."

It was then that he realized Osamu is still glaring at him and any confidence Connor MIGHT'VE had died a quick and sudden death.

A breeze filled the air and Connor soon saw his beloved Erma standing in front of him and blocking her grandfather's path. Osamu paused in stride, but his glare was still firm and cold.

Ayama, Erma's grandmother, then walked past her husband, gave Connor a lookover...and smiled.

"Lucky girl!" She cooed, lifting her granddaughter and Connor up and nuzzling her cheeks with their own. "So cute, the both of you! And such a sweet, polite young man!"

Connor blushed at the praise, with Erma shooting him a thumbs up.

"Don't let him go, Erma chan!" Ayama ordered. "You'll never find another!"

Her mood became deadpan.

"Trust me. I know."

The adults either winced or laughed at her comment.

"Ayama!" Osamu began, drawing his sword, only for a web to stick his had to it.

"SILENCE!" Ayama snapped, cowing her husband, who suddenly found himself in his elderly form and cringing in fear as his wife began to wail on him with her spider legs. "BAKA OSAMU! Your prejudice nearly cost us Emiko and Erma once before, I will NOT be denied the chance to see my great-grandchildren before we leave this world!"

She then took a breath and looked her husband straight in the eye.

"My love, the world has changed. People are more accepting. You speak of doing everything to defend us, but...If you cannot bury your hatred, then GET OUT!"

The other family members jaws DROPPED.

NO ONE. TALKED to Osamu like that. At least, no one who didn't leave without a scar or two...save Emiko, but that was years ago.

Osamu's brow furrowed as Ayama put the children back on the ground.

"I still do not approve of him."

Erma winced and her face became sad. Connor, seeing this, was quick to hold her hand and pat it reassuringly.

"Well, either you do as I said." Ayama began. "Or...it seems like you'll lose your granddaughter for good."

Osamu then saw the two children comforting each other...and Erma glaring at him in a way that reminded him of when he had 'rescued' Emiko. Only this time, it actually hurt him to be the subject of said glare.

"Erma, I'm only looking out for..."

Erma turned her back to her grandfather.

Osamu whipped out some candy and toys.

Erma ignored them,

Osamu made some funny faces.

Emra instead helped Connor head towards the door.

Osamu then appeared in front of them, grovelling.

Erma simply 'humphed!', flipped her hair and dragged Connor away.

"ERMA-CHAN! PLEASE!" Osamu begged, crying and looking rather pathetic. Still, his children couldn't help but enjoy the site, and feel pride in their neice/daughter/cousin.

"That's my little girl!" Emiko beamed.

Ayama simply sat on her throne as her husband racked his brain to think of a way out of this. She refused to help, knowing he wouldn't learn anything if she did help him.

ERMA

Now, eventually, before the trip ended, Erma DID start talking to her grandpa again.

Osamu eventually relented and 'tolerated' Connor.

Connor bonded with Erma's uncles and Aunts as well Momo and Mitsu...but those are stories for other times.

Next: Prowling on Prom; where the littlest Ghoul (now a teenager), Connor, the twins and their friends go to Prom...while dodging a certian former babysitter. But not to worry, Sam and Emiko will be there to make sure their daughter has a good time.

As of this post, Erma's grandmother has not made a physical appearance. I chose to make her a Jorumangand mostly because it is so far the one Yokai I haven't seen in the Reunion arc yet (if one has been shown, feel free to remind me) and considering the diversity of Erma's family, I thought it possible.

I am happily open to suggestions for chapters for this series; you can either leave the idea in a review or PM me.

Have a great one!
