Part 4: Charlie saves Don

Takes place a month after Charlie and Amita come back from England…

Don was walking to his car in the garage when he started to feel like he wasn't alone at the moment.

'That's strange.' He thought to himself as he looked around but saw nothing but a quiet street.

'You can never be too careful.' He thought to himself as he got into his car, still feeling a little uneasy.

He felt a bit better when he pulled up to CalSci and sent Charlie a text that he was there, and got a response from Charlie that he will be out in a couple minutes.

'It's nice having them back, I can't imagine what it would be like if we didn't see each other again.' Don thought to himself before getting that strange feeling again.

'Either I am being paranoid or I am being watched.' He thought to himself, before looking around again to see if he was really being watched but only saw a couple students walking by and he wondered if he was being paranoid.

'I wonder if…' He started to think before he heard rapid footsteps towards him and he suddenly found a knife going against his neck.

"What the…." Don started before the man interrupted him

"Quiet!" The man shouted, "You are going to pay for what you did to my girlfriend!"

'What is he talking about?' Don thought to himself

"Who are you?" Don asked

"My name is Earl Packard and my girlfriend is Ellie McPherson." The man said to him

'That doesn't mean anything to me right now?' Don thought, as he can't remember any case with those names but he knew he had to find out more.

"What happened to Ellie?" Don asked, trying to buy himself some time

"Oh, you know what happened to her, you two dated and you broke up with her after she said she had cancer!" The man shouted, "That was two years ago, and she kept going on and on about how great you guys were together, even though we have been together since meeting in Chemo a year ago, even though you left her to die!"

This still wasn't ringing any bells and he knew that he himself didn't date anyone with that name, especially with the name Ellie.

"Sorry, Earl, but I don't remember meeting any Ellie, let alone dating her, I think you got the wrong guy." Don said, trying to think of what to do with a knife on his neck.

"Your name is Don Marks, is it not?" Earl said

'Oh, got a bit of mistaken identity, don't we?' Don thought to himself

"Well?" The man demanded

"Uh, sir, I think there has been a misunderstanding," Don began slowly, "My name is Don Eppes, I work in the FBI…"

"Save it, I don't want any of your lies!" Earl yelled, nearly pressing Don's neck again and leaving a little blood on Don's neck.

"Earl, let's work this out." Don said, staying as calm as he could, hoping to somehow reach his phone and get help

"Just shut…" Earl began before his arm was pushed ahead and a book thrown in his face, knocking the man out.

Don got out of his car to see that it was Charlie who had saved him.

"You okay Don?" Charlie asked, who looked just as surprised as Don was by what had just happened.

"Yeah, just a little nic on my neck, but I'm fine." Don said, putting his hand on the minor wound on his neck

"Let me look." Charlie said, rushing to Don's side to look at the potential damage and was relieved that it wasn't anything serious

"Nice move there, Chuck." Don said, still amazed what his brother had done.

"Yeah… Yeah, I can't believe it either." Charlie said in amazement.

"Was it the FBI training you learned it from?" Don asked out of curiosity.

"That, combined what you have taught me when we were kids." Charlie said as he went to Don and hugged him in relief.

"Thanks, Chuck." Don said as he hugged his brother back.

"You're welcome...and don't call me Chuck." Charlie said, as sirens could be heard coming in.
