Chapter 2-Recklessness Returns. (Special thanks to Incrediblesfan1 for the request at the end!)

The next morning, the Parrs were relocated to a new house by Winston Deavor, a man looking to make Supers legal again. While Elastigirl was out, the kids had their normal lives at home, discovering Jack-Jack had powers in the process. However, the same day that happened, Dash and his father saw on TV that the Incredibile was being auctioned, which, as you can guess, Bob wasn't too happy about. He scared them using the car's remote, but Dash snatched it from him and pushed a button, which activated a rocket launcher.

"What are you doing?!" Bob asked as he grabbed Dash and took the remote, "This is not a toy! That's a rocket launcher!"

"Sweet! Which one launches the rockets?" Dash asked, grabbing the remote back.

"Hey! This is not your car!" Bob said.

"It's not your car, either!" Dash said.

"It is so! It's the Incredibile!" Bob said.

"Then, why does that guy have it?" Dash asked before his father snatched the remote back.

"Well, he shouldn't!" Bob said before Dash started trying to get the remote back.

"Launch the rockets! Launch the rockets! Launch! The! Rockets!" Dash begged.

"I'm not launching anything! Do you think I want an angry rich guy coming after me right now…" Bob said before he grabbed Dash and placed him in front of him before strictly pointing at him, "when I'm trying not to distract your mother?!"

After that, and the discovery that Jack-Jack had powers, Dash went up to his room to grump.

The next day wasn't much better. The next evening, Bob got a call from Evelyn Deavor saying Elastigirl was in trouble. He quickly called Violet into the hallway.

"What is it, Dad?" Violet asked.

"Violet, your mom's in trouble. I'm going to help and Lucius will be here to watch you. If you feel the need to come as well, don't hesitate. But, if it can be helped, don't bring Dash with you." Bob said.

Violet looked shocked, "But, Dad, Dash is just as big a part of this team as anyone!" she said.

"I know, Violet. But, we're on the verge of becoming legal again. I don't deny at all that he's part of the team, but if he does something as reckless as he did with the Underminer, everything your mom's done will be for nothing. Like I said, if you have to, bring him, but if it can be helped, drop him off at Edna's. I expect you to obey me, okay? I wish there was another way, believe me, but I don't want to take any chances." Bob said.

"(Sigh) Okay, Dad." Violet said. As much as she didn't like to admit it, she agreed with him.

"All right. I'll be back later." Bob said before he retrieved his suit and left.

Unfortunately, Dash took this opportunity to sneak the Incredibile remote out of the dresser by their bed. Violet avoided talking about what she and her father had talked about, but however, she found herself unable to avoid taking Dash with her in the summoned Incredibile when Supers who appeared to be hypnotized attacked them and overwhelmed Frozone.

A few minutes later, the car pulled up to Edna's and Violet ushered Dash out. However, Dash quickly grew suspicious before he heard Violet whisper, "Incredibile, take us to DevTech."

Dash then watched her and Jack-Jack speed off before he thought, 'Something funny is going on here.'

Not knowing what lied ahead, Dash rushed after the car and saw it headed after a boat. He backed up before he ran across the water and after seeing Violet eject herself and Jack-Jack, he ran and jumped on the hood, which popped and launched him as well. He hurried after Violet into a hidden room. He slammed the door loudly, which scared her.

"What's going on?" Dash asked.

"Dash! What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be at E's!" Violet said before the ship suddenly picked up speed.

"What, and let you have the fun?" Dash asked.

Violet sighed in exasperation before she was about to give Jack-Jack to him, "All right, but you need to take care of Jack-Jack." she said.

"Nuh-uh, I'm not gonna be a babysitter! This time, I'm gonna take action and do it right." Dash said as he left the room before Violet could stop him.

"Stupid moron." Violet muttered before she went off to search for her parents.

Dash went outside and saw that the ship was turning around after picking up speed, turning to face the city.

"Uh-oh, whoever's doing this, they're gonna smash the ship right into the city!" Dash said before he ran off to try and find the engine room.

Meanwhile, Violet, after making her way through several dangers while chasing Jack-Jack, found herself face to face with her hypnotized parents. Through his powers, Jack-Jack broke Elastigirl free of the goggles, allowing her to free Mr. Incredible and Frozone, but as she hugged Violet and Jack-Jack gratefully and proudly, she noticed Dash wasn't there.

"Where's Dash, Violet?" Elastigirl asked.

"Well…" Violet said.

After she and Mr. Incredible explained the situation, Elastigirl understood everything.

"I see. Well, I can't say I blame you, but imagine how Dash is going to react when he finds out." Elastigirl said before the hypnotized Supers showed up.

At the same time, Dash had found the engine room and saw that there was a hamster-wheel like mechanism in the middle. He then got an idea. If he could generate enough speed to speed it up enough, it could force a shut down of the engines.

"Yeah, this time, I'll be a hero for sure!" Dash said, already imagining the praise he would get. He hopped inside the mechanism and ran, speeding it up like crazy, but unfortunately, while the mechanism broke, the gears didn't, instead speeding up, which as you can guess, sped the boat up more.

"OH NO! IT GOT WORSE!" Dash said, running around in a panic before he hurried out of the engine room. However, Mr. Incredible, who was tipped off where the engine room was by one of the now-freed Supers, was on his way there. That's when the two bumped into each other.

"Dash, what happened?!" Mr. Incredible asked.

"IthoughtifIwentfastenoughIcouldshuttheenginesoffbutallIdidwasoverloadthemandnowtheboat'sgoingfaster!" (I thought if I went fast enough I could shut the engines off but all I did was overload them and now the boat's going faster!)

Mr. Incredible sighed in exasperation. Dash had decided to work on his own again, and look where it got him.

"All right, well, in that case, we have to find another way." Mr. Incredible said as Violet caught up.

"Hey, what about turning the boat?" Violet said.

"The steering's been destroyed!" Mr. Incredible said.

"She means from outside!" Dash said.

At this point, it was a desperate race against the clock. The boat raced at the city at an alarming rate of speed, causing many citizens to make a break for it. While Mr. Incredible worked to turn the boat's rudder, Elastigirl battled Evelyn Deavor in a jet above the boat. While this was happening, Dash tried to think of a way to stop the boat. That's when he got an idea. He used the Incredibile's remote to summon it and launch rockets at the legs that kept the hull above water. Unfortunately, all this did was make it more difficult for Frozone to slow it down with ice and Mr. Incredible to turn it due to the sudden jolts it caused. If that wasn't bad enough, the blasts also caused holes to be broken in the hulls, forcing the ambassadors to follow the Supers and Winston to higher ground to avoid water, grabbing the signed document while they were at it. This eventually made Mr. Incredible almost unable to turn it due to the water adding to the weight. Eventually, after much struggle, the boat collided with a wall of ice made in front of a building, with the side of the front of it only smashing a few windows, but avoiding any injuries or fatalities. Unfortunately, the water from the hull did drench some people nearby. However, when Dash got up from his crash position, expecting his parents to look proudly at him for being a help, all he saw were their disappointed glares combined with the other Supers and even the ambassadors.

"What?!" Dash asked.

"After all that, you don't get it?! Dash, you almost caused Evelyn's plan to be a success and somehow, you almost managed to sink this ship and mess us up as well! You're lucky no one was hurt!" Elastigirl said before she noticed the broken windows, as well as the fact that there was a small crack in the building. This made the others really mad at him. Now, it would probably be days, weeks, maybe even months before the document would be considered. They were sued for damages in the Glory Days, so who's to say it would be much different now?

"All this because you decided to act on your own! I thought you said you wouldn't be reckless anymore!" Mr. Incredible said.

"Well, I did help to save the day, didn't I?!" Dash asked.

"Yes, but you also caused this mess by overloading the engine in the first place! This is exactly why Dad wanted me to leave you at Edna's!" Violet said before she clamped her hand over her mouth. Dash looked at his dad with a look of betrayal.

"What did I tell you?!" said an unfamiliar voice. Everyone looked to see Eric. He had somehow found his way to the deck.

"Kid, I warned you, but it just went in one ear and out the other." Eric said, "Now, look at this. You've probably made the wait for Super legalization longer by doing this! How could you be so careless?!"

"I was trying to be more careful this time!" Dash said.

"Were you, or was the idea of glory too big for your brain to handle again?!" Violet asked.

"Well, I had to do something since you guys obviously trust a one-year-old baby to do the job better than I can! What, Dad, made you think that I needed to be left at Edna's?! I'm not part of the team?!" Dash asked, his voice starting to rise.

"You are part of the team, Dash, but you're too impulsive. I wanted you left at Edna's only if it was possible. I value you as part of our team, but by being reckless, you probably endangered our chance to be legal again. You got the Superhero Relocation Program shut down because you wanted glory for battling the Underminer yourself. Now, you try to fix this, by yourself, not thinking about the consequences, and look at what happens. You don't understand, Dash. When it comes to being a superhero, you seem to forget what it's all about."

As Mr. Incredible and Dash yelled, Eric noticed something In Dash's pocket.

"Hey, what's that?" Eric asked before he took it and saw it was a remote.

"Is this for a TV?" he asked before he pushed a button with a house on it and the Incredibile hovered onto the deck and parked beside him.

"Cool!" Eric said before Mr. Incredible walked over and held his hand out. Eric handed him the remote with a sheepish grin.

"Why did Dash have this remote?" Mr. Incredible asked before he put two and two together and was about to lecture Dash when a limo pulled up in front of him. Out of it, came the angry rich guy who had bought it.

"All right, which one of you was responsible for having that car trash my living room and break a hole through my wall?!" he shouted. By now, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl were red in the face.

Later...

"DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH TROUBLE YOU'RE IN?! YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST BLOWN OUR LEGALIZATION CHANCE OUT OF YOUR BUTT!" Mr. Incredible yelled.

"HOW COULD YOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE?! WE WORKED HARD FOR ALL THAT AND YOU MAY HAVE JUST MADE IT ALL FOR NOTHING!" Elastigirl yelled.

Dash just sat silently at the dinner table. His parents had been yelling at him for the past hour.

"You'll be lucky if we even get that document to the courts! The people of the city were nice enough to let us off the hook, and the rich guy was rich enough to have those repairs made, but my car is still confiscated until further notice!" Mr. Incredible said.

"You shouldn't have had that remote in the first place! Didn't your father tell you it wasn't a toy?!" Elastigirl said.

"Well, I'm a ten-year-old kid. I can't help it if I thought it was cool! I did think it would help!" Dash said.

"That was just another example of you acting without thinking! Dash, you just don't get it, do you?" Mr. Incredible asked.

"What?" Dash asked.

"When it comes to being a Super…"

The next three words rung in Dash's head like an echo, "You're not ready."

"What do you mean I'm not ready! I fight like a true hero does! I help protect the innocent and I got worried when I saw I made it worse! I did try to help!" Dash yelled.

"Right, but you are still too reckless, and you clearly need more training. It should take about 3 or 5 months, or maybe a year or two to train you properly." Elastigirl said.

"ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME?! YOU WAITED 15 LONG YEARS FOR A CHANCE LIKE THIS AND YOU WANT US TO HAVE THAT CHOICE TO BE SUPERS, YET YOU WANT ME TO PUT IT OFF AND LEAVE IT TO A BABY TO FILL IN FOR ME?! I WAITED 10 LONG YEARS FOR A CHANCE TO BE A HERO WITHOUT RESTRICTION! I'M SORRY IF I MESSED IT UP, BUT I WILL NOT WAIT MORE YEARS WAITING TO BE A SUPER BECAUSE OF SOME STUPID TRAINING! YOU KNOW I CAN HELP OUT THE INNOCENTS, AND YOU KNOW I CAN BE A HERO, YET YOU THINK I'M JUST SOME INCOMPETENT KID WHO DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE A PART OF THE SPOTLIGHT FIGHTING CRIME WITH HIS FAMILY!" Dash yelled.

"DASHIELL ROBERT PARR, DO NOT YELL LIKE THAT!" Mr. Incredible said.

"WHY?! YOU GUYS ARE DOING IT RIGHT NOW!" Dash yelled.

"THAT'S THE LAST STRAW! GO TO YOUR ROOM RIGHT NOW!" Elastigirl yelled.

Dash did so, slamming the door so hard, it woke Jack-Jack.

Later, after everyone had fallen asleep, Dash laid in his bed, grumbling.

"Man, who cares what Mom and Dad say? I'll be a hero with or without training." Dash said before he grabbed his suit and snuck out of the house. He ran for a good while to clear his head, when he suddenly bumped into something in the middle of a field. He looked and was surprised to see the Underminer.

"Well, Son of Incredible, we meet again." The Underminer said.

"The Underminer?!" Speed Demon asked.

"What brings you out here?" The Underminer asked.

Once Dash explained everything, the Underminer got an idea.

"Well, if you think you're just a liability, I might have an opportunity for you." The Underminer said.

"What's that?" Dash asked.

"Why don't you work for me? We could be a great team!" The Underminer said.

Dash was surprised at that. He thought it over, thinking that if destruction was all he was good at causing, then he might as well do it in a way he couldn't get in trouble for. He smirked before he looked at the Underminer and said, "Where do I sign up?"
