Chapter 1-Dash's Mistake.

"We're gonna lose him!" Mr. Incredible said as his family watched the Underminer's giant drill begin its move underground.

"Oh, all right." Elastigirl said in exasperation as she put Jack-Jack in his stroller and turned to Dash and Violet.

"One of you patrol the perimeter, keep the crowds back and safe. The other, watch after Jack-Jack!" Elastigirl said before she ran off.

"But I thought we were gonna go with…" Violet started.

"You heard your mother!" Mr. Incredible said as he started after her.

"I'm not just gonna sit here and wait for them to come back! I'll be the hero who stops the Underminer!" Dash said before he ran ahead of his father, and before anyone could stop him, had trampolined off his mom and onto the top of the drill.

"DASH!" everyone called as he tried to pry open the door the Underminer had on top of the drill. They could only look on helplessly as the drill went underground.

"What is that kid thinking?!" Elastigirl asked.

Underground, Dash hung onto the drill as he tried to pry open the door.

"Man, stupid thing!" Dash said as he was pelted with rocks before one ended up knocking him off and he fell into the dirt. He picked himself up as the Underminer stopped the drill in front of a wall of caverns and raised himself up.

"Consider yourselves UNDERMINED!" the Underminer laughed as he pressed a detonator, blasting the walls and causing explosions up on the surface that collapsed the ground beneath the banks of Municiberg. The Underminer then blasted the door of the vault once the banks had fallen through and started using a giant vacuum hose to suck up the money. Little did he know, Dash was behind him.

"Underminer, The Dash shall now bring about your downfall!" Dash said, spooking the Underminer and causing him to turn the vacuum around and accidentally suck him up, too.

"Oh, great! Now, he's on the agenda!" The Underminer said before he resumed vacuuming the money. Meanwhile, Dash was still trying to get out of the compartment that the money was going into, only to get blasted by more money as the Underminer ran back to the Tunneler and reactivated it. While this was happening, Dash started kicking the door to the hatch at super speed, slowly but surely knocking it loose. When he finally succeeded, he stumbled out, only to be ambushed from behind by the Underminer.

"Son of Incredible!" The Underminer said as he knocked Dash to the ground.

"Meet Jack Hammer!" The Underminer said as he started up his claw hand, which acted like a jackhammer. A short fight between the two of them followed, which ended with Dash landing a super speed combo on the Underminer that actually knocked him back a bit, causing him to hit the controls and actually breaking a few of them a bit, but as he slid down, he hit a lever that made the Tunneler move upward, making them both stumble before the Underminer grabbed hold of the hatch.

"Buh-bye!" the Underminer taunted as he jumped in and escaped in a smaller drill with the money. Dash started to go after him before he heard beeping behind him and he looked to a screen that read, "BREACH IN 12...11...10…"

Realizing the situation, Dash climbed up to the controls and pulled a lever, only for it to break off due to the damage from earlier.

"No! No, no, no, no, no, No, No, NO!" Dash said frantically.

Back on the surface, the street exploded in a shower of dust and rubble as the Tunneler emerged and started down the street. The rest of the Incredibles spotted the danger and rushed to it, with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl making their way through the streets while Violet pursued while protecting Jack-Jack.

Once Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl caught up, Dash climbed out of the hatch above them and said, "I can't steer this thing or stop it, AND the Underminer got away!"

His parents looked angry.

"We are going to have a talk later, young man." Elastigirl said before she shouted, "BOB, THE MONORAIL!"

The drill's side bumped into a monorail track, destroying it and sending the train heading down to the ground before it was caught by a trail of ice.

"Frozone! Yeah!" Mr. Incredible said as the Super guided the train to safety.

"We have to stop this thing before it gets to the overpass!" Elastigirl said.

"I'll try to keep it away from the buildings!" Mr. Incredible said before Dash jumped down and started following him.

"Dad! How can I help?!" Dash asked.

"Help protect any people you see in danger!" Mr. Incredible said as he tried to push the Tunneler away from nearby buildings while Dash rescued a nearby elderly lady from a car thrown by the Tunneler. However, his already rotten luck got worse as Violet made Jack-Jack his responsibility. He raced through the streets after the Tunneler, protecting citizens and Jack-Jack from harm. However, he eventually handed Jack-Jack to his dad before he raced ahead and climbed up the side.

"Maybe I can't find the Underminer, but I can still be the hero!" Dash said before he envisioned it. The drill was destroyed in the background, and he had people swarming all around him, interviewing him, telling him he was cool, and asking for pictures and autographs from The Dash. He quickly climbed up and into the hatch on top of the Tunneler. He looked around and saw a lot of complicated machinery. He started busting it up with his speed, only for it to make things worse by accidentally causing the drill to move faster, which forced the Incredibles to hurry double time as Elastigirl swung into the drill and spotted Dash running around in a panic. She grabbed him and put him on the staircase before she spotted the coolant tank and stretched herself around it as Mr. Incredible, Violet, and Jack-Jack came in.

"BOB! HELP ME WITH THE BOILER!" Elastigirl shouted as Mr. Incredible put himself between the wall and coolant tank and shoved his back into it enough to tip it over.

"That should do it." Elastigirl said before she noticed her children still inside.

"WHAT ARE YOU KIDS DOING?! GET OUTTA HERE! THIS THING'S GONNA BLOW!" Elastigirl shouted before Violet shoved Jack-Jack into her arms.

"There's no time!" Violet said before she put a forcefield around them as the engine exploded.

Outside, Frozone was trying to freeze the drill and managed to freeze it so that it only destroyed a tiny bit of City Hall. He soon made a break for it as the police arrived and the Incredibles climbed out of the drill.

"We did it!" Dash said triumphantly as he jumped down from the drill, only to hear guns clicking.

"FREEZE, SUPER!" the chief of police shouted as the cops readied their guns, but pointed them in the air as a sign of intimidation.

"Hey, what's the deal?" Dash asked.

"You're the one who set this drill loose! We have witnesses who said you went against your father's orders and ended up doing all this!" the chief said as they walked closer.

Dash wasn't just disappointed, but also scared. He noticed several people gather behind the police, men, women, and children. All of them either looked furious or just glared. He looked to his family for support, only to see them glaring as well.

Later, after getting bailed by Rick Dicker and returning to the motel they were staying at, Dash sat at the dinner table with a glum expression while his parents were silent.

"Hey, guys, come on, I said I was sorry." Dash said.

"Sorry's not gonna cut it, Dash. I don't know WHAT in your right mind made you disobey your father like that and set that drill loose!" Helen said, still mad at him.

"All right, look. I went after the Underminer alone because I wanted to be acknowledged as a hero! I wasn't gonna just sit around and be a babysitter while you guys got all the glory!" Dash said.

His parents looked shocked and furious.

"Glory?! You got us arrested, let the Underminer get away, set a drill on the streets, and even got the Superhero Relocation Program shut down, all just for GLORY?!" Bob yelled.

"Being a superhero isn't about glory! We've talked about this! On top of that, you're not old enough to decide about fighting crime!" Helen said.

"So what?! If you expect us to get credit for doing nothing, why do you bother dragging us with you to fight crime?!" Dash said.

"Dashiell Robert Parr, don't talk back to me!" Helen said, getting more angry.

"We don't want you kids getting hurt! That's why we told you to watch the crowds and Jack-Jack! Being a hero is about saving and helping people, not feeding your ego!" Bob said.

"Well, what if I wanted to be a real hero and not a babysitter?!" Dash said, his voice rising.

"Look where it got you!" Violet said, also annoyed at what had happened because of him.

"SHUT UP, VIOLET!" Dash yelled.

"Do NOT shout at the table, Dash!" Helen said.

"I gave you orders that I expected you to follow! I'm the leader of the Incredibles, Dash, which means you do what I say! If you don't follow orders, all you do is jeopardize our battles!" Bob said.

"All we want is for our secret to be kept and for you kids to be safe!" Helen said.

"We especially don't want you fighting giant things like that drill, even if you're confident enough!" Bob said.

Dash banged his fists on the table.

"WELL, WHAT ABOUT WHAT WE WANT?! I'M SICK AND TIRED OF ALWAYS HAVING TO HIDE MY POWERS! (BANG!) THEY MAKE ME WHAT I AM AND I WANT TO EXPLORE MY FULL POTENTIAL! (BANG!) ALL YOU GUYS DO IS HOLD ME BACK AND I'M SICK AND TIRED OF IT! YOU GUYS JUST TREAT US LIKE BABIES, YOU JUST WANT US TO BE SIDELINERS WHO BABYSIT WHILE OUR PARENTS GET ALL THE GLORY AND PRAISE! (BANG! BANG! BANG!)" Dash shouted.

Everyone looked shocked at his outburst before his parents looked even madder than before.

"DASHIELL ROBERT PARR, YOU LOWER THAT TONE OF YOURS THIS INSTANT OR YOU'RE GROUNDED!" Bob yelled.

"YOU KNOW WHAT?!" Dash shouted before he threw his plate on the floor and broke it.

"TO HECK WITH THIS!" he shouted before he stormed to the door, grabbing his suit while he was at it.

"Where do you think you're going?!" Helen asked.

"Out." Dash said as he opened the door.

"You don't go anywhere until we finish lecturing you!" Bob said, standing up.

Dash turned around, "I don't need your stinking lectures and I don't need you! I'm going for a walk." he said before leaving and slamming the door.

Dash walked through the streets, his already sour mood being made worse by people insulting him, a couple even throwing raw vegetables at him. He soon came to City Hall and saw the drill.

"Ungrateful people! My family doesn't understand! They should be proud of me for the good I did do!" Dash said as he picked up a rock and threw it at the Tunneler in frustration.

"Wrong, kid." said an unfamiliar voice. Dash looked behind him and saw a 21-year-old boy with dirty blond hair and glasses that was wearing a Captain America jacket, a Pokemon shirt, blue jeans, glasses and green Nikes.

"What do you want? If you're going to insult me, just go away." Dash said.

"I'm not gonna insult you. But, do you honestly think that your parents should be proud of you when it was your fault that the drill almost flattened City Hall like a pancake?" the boy asked.

"They should be because I helped the people out and did try to stop the Tunneler! I should've been the big hero!" Dash said.

"You did do that, but let me ask you something. I saw you jump on that drill from the track stadium and I heard your father tell you and your sister to stay and watch the baby. Why didn't you listen to him?" the boy asked.

"Because I wasn't going to just sit around while they got the glory. I wanted to be the big hero and get interviews, autographs, all that. I'm sick and tired of having to hide my powers because of this stupid law!" Dash said.

"Kid, let me tell you something right now. I get how you feel. I think the law is stupid, too. But, even still, a Super's job isn't to fight for fame and glory. Their job is to help people, and in that situation, your job was to follow orders." the boy said.

"Well, sitting back like that would be boring. I care about my baby brother and protecting people, but I wanted to be a part of real action!" Dash said.

"And look where it got you. You're lucky no one was seriously hurt. If I were you, I'd watch myself. If something like this happens again, especially if someone presses charges, without the NSA's help, you and your family will be looking at prison time." the boy said.

Dash just sighed.

"By the way, I meant to ask you, what are you doing out here by yourself?" the boy asked.

"I left because my parents were yelling at me. I told them I was sorry a hundred times and they just wouldn't lay off!" Dash said.

"And you think leaving in the middle of an argument's gonna make it better? Kid, your parents have every right to be mad at you. After what you did, I wouldn't be surprised if they grounded you for life. A simple sorry won't fix this." the boy said as he pointed to the Tunneler.

Dash lowered his head.

"On top of that, you're just a kid. They want to protect you. I'm sure they know you want to be a real hero, but what you did was reckless, uneducated, and irresponsible, and they can't just let it slide." the boy said.

Dash then looked thoughtful before he sighed and said, "Maybe I was a bit brash with them. If anything, I need to apologize for my bad attitude."

The boy smirked, "That's the best option." he said before he started to walk away.

"Hey, wait, what's your name?" Dash called.

"It's Eric, with a C." the boy said before he headed down the street.

By now, three hours had passed since Dash left the motel room. He walked up to his parents' room and knocked. Helen opened the door.

"Dash." Helen said. Bob leaned to see him from his position on the bed.

"Mom, Dad, listen, I'm sorry for my attitude towards you guys, and I'm really sorry for what I did today. But, you can understand, right?" Dash asked.

His parents smiled, "Of course, we forgive you." Helen said.

"But, if something like that happens again...well...it better not." Bob said.

"Yes, sir." Dash said before he headed to the room he, Violet, and Jack-Jack were in.
