Final Resistance

How Diana met Lance

Disclaimer: I don't own Voltron. Voltron belongs to World Events Productions and whoever they decide to license the big guy to. The only thing I own are Diana, Ethel, Bernice, Cheryl, Alex, and Hyacinth.

"Finally got caught and now Lance is going to say I told you so," Diana muttered as she woke up and took a glance around the dark cell from her attached cot against the right wall. Although the cot was at a comfortable height for Diana, the mattress was super firm and uncomfortable. The mattress was covered with a fitted sheet and a pillow that was also uncomfortably flat. The opposite wall had a small metal desk with a couple of drawers and a matching chair. Above the desk was a medium sized mirror. The last wall held down a sink with a small mirror and with a small toilet mere inches away. It took a few more moments for Diana to get adjusted to the relative darkness of the cell. The cell was windowless and there was little light coming from the hallway. "This place sucks. I hate it here and I want to go home," Diana muttered to herself as she sat up on the bed and moved her legs over the edge. Diana then raked her hand through her curly hair.

A few minutes later, Diana's eyes was invaded by bright overhead lights, followed a loud announcement that it was their daily wake-up call. The mechanical voices barked out orders for every one to stand by their door for the first count of the day. Two robots stopped at her door and Diana noticed how the door was bathed in a dull blue light as the robot marked her present. They gave her permission to walk away from the door before moving to the next cell. Diana could hear the robots continue down the hall and repeat the same instructions for a couple of minutes before the doors opened.

"Prisoners, step out of your cell and precede to the dining room for the 1st meal," The overhead announcer blasted through the speakers throughout the hall. Diana silently grumbled, as she stepped out of her cell. Going on instinct, Diana followed the other prisoners on the 15 minute walk to the prison's mess hall. Once they stepped into the eating area, Diana continued to follow her fellow prisoners to receive her first prison meal in the cafeteria line. The cafeteria robot took a bowl from Diana before taking a few scoops out of a large pot and emptying the contents into the bowl. Diana frowned as she took the bowl and placed it on the tray. Diana was then handed a couple of milk cartons and a spoon before being pushed to a table. Moments later, Diana was joined by Ethel, Bernice, Cheryl, and Alex.

Taking her spoon, Diana dug into the bowl and frowned again before allowing the mysterious cereal to her mouth. The cereal was grainy and Diana could taste corn in her mouth. "I never thought that I would eat mush before," Diana commented as she took another spoonful into her mouth. "No wonder it was a miracle for some of my ancestors to make it through chattel slavery in the American South. There's no way this meal could sustain you for a hard day's work in the land."

"I agree, but if you don't hurry, they'll take it away from you," Bernice warned Diana before finishing up her bowl.

"But we just got here," Diana stated as she took another spoonful of cornmeal mush. As Diana took a few sips of her milk, one of the robots snatched Diana's breakfast and the other milk and tossed it in the trash. Diana stood up from the table with every intent of giving the mechanical guard a piece of her mind, when Alex took Diana and guided her to the hallway. "Alex…what are you do—" Alex pushed a trashcan near Diana before she could vomit up her breakfast. Diana vomited two more times before Alex handed her a small wipe. Diana took the wipe and cleaned her face. "Thanks."

"Don't mention it. Come on, we got to make it back to our cells for the next count. After that, we'll meet up in the yard." Diana nodded her head quietly when Alex was finished and they walked back to their wing of the prison. When Diana arrived at her cell, Alex whistled. "Of course you'll get to have a single room. I have a cellmate and she's the worst."

"Please tell me the cell is larger than mine," Diana commented as she turned to look at Alex.

"Nope, same size. It's not fun to continuously hit your head on the ceiling for the first few days," Alex responded before leaving Diana at her cell. With a sigh, Diana walked into her small quarters and winced as she laid down on the firm mattress. Diana closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. After a while, Diana felt sleepy and decided that a nap would be qreat way to spend time until she could meet up with her friends. Minutes later, Diana's nap was interrupted when a droid entered the cell and pull Diana to a standing position.

"Awt-awt-awt. No napping during the count. I would hate to punish you further, Diana." Wade stated on camera.

"Don't you have something better to do?" Diana mumbled under her breath.

"What was that?"

"This is punishment enough, thank you." Diana said louder, staring at the droid's monitor.

"I'm going to let you slide with that comment, Miss Smythe-Williams, because it's you first full day. I don't condone such smart alec remarks in my prison. Tread lightly."

Diana fought to keep from rolling her eyes at the droid. Satisfied that she was awake and counted for, the droid rolled out of the cell, slamming the door behind him. Two minutes later, another droid passed by and counted Diana present before following the original droid down the hall. About five minutes later, another droid came by and counted Diana for the final count. Diana rolled her eyes at the redundancy of the count. They were in deep space…how would they ever escape from here alive?

A few minutes later, the doors opened and recreational time was announced over the loudspeakers. Diana got out of the cell and followed the crowd into the open yard. At one end of the yard, Diana noticed that her friends were already at the bleachers talking as they were waiting for her to join them. With a shrug, Diana walked across the yard to join Bernice, Ethel, Cheryl and Alex.

"Now that we're all here, we can finally find out how you and Lance met. Nobody knows the full story," Alex stated with a smile. "Bernice claims that she doesn't fully know how you two met and she knows you the most out of all of us."

"Well, I met Bernice briefly after I met Lance and before everything happened that week," Diana stated. "Why is everyone so interested in how Lance and I met? It's not like it's the most romantic story ever."

"I know that the Voltron Force, with the exception of Sven and Princess Allura, met you at the same time and even they won't tell the story." Ethel added.

"Trust me, I tried. Hunk, Pidge, Allura, and Keith all refused to share the story," Alex stated. "They asked what I thought happened, then suggested we ask the people involved."

"But every time someone tried to ask either you or Lance, something always happens. Then you guys would just ask us what we thought happened," Cheryl added.

"Please, Diana. We have nothing but time to hear the story now," Bernice asked. "I remember you sending me an email with the story—but it was intercepted and you stated that you were just trying something out anyway."

"Inquiring minds…"

"Alright. I'll share how Lance and I met. Don't be surprised if it's not extraordinary," Diana responded as she sighed. "I'll never understand what people are so interested in how we met." Diana took a deep breath before continuing. "Lance and I met a few days before the week that changed everything. I was excited about seeing Princess Allura and Uncle Coran after not being able to see them outside of video calls and messaging. So anyway…"

Five years ago, Cape Canaveral, Florida…

Diana sighed as her last client for the day left her office with a slight smile. Diana loved working at the Veteran's Center. Monday and Friday afternoons were spent checking in with the veterans and their families dealing with traumatic events. The rest of the week, Diana spent time working with health education and community outreach programs while fine tuning a program she wanted to launch providing a more holistic approach to caring for all these veterans.

This Friday, however, Diana had to leave early. Her last group will be facilitated by an intern Diana had been working closely since Diana found out that they were going through a similar career paths. It's been years since Diana had been able to visit Arus to see her godsister, Princess Allura or her only maternal Uncle, Coran Smythe. So, when she found out that the Voltron Force was able to finally free Arus from the clutches of Doom's Drule monarchy, Diana rejoiced. When her mother, the ambassador of Arus to the Galaxy Alliance announced that the Voltron Force and her Uncle Coran was visiting Earth for the major celebrations, Diana was overjoyed!

With a smile, Diana walked from her desk to the small closet in her office. She opened the closet door to inspect how her outfit made it through the day. Diana was bronzed-skin, naturally tight and curly-hair, and dark brown-eyed version of her mother. Today, Diana decided to wear her natural curls loose and slightly parted on the right. She also decided to skip wearing make-up and to wear a form-fiting blue sleeveless v-neck dress that ended at her knees. The dress comfortably hugged Diana's hourglass body at all the right spots. To tie her look today, Diana wore a pair of blue high heels and a small strand of pearls around her neck. Please that her outfit was still perfect for the day, Diana returned to her desk to retrieve her purse before leaving her small office. Looking at the clock on her wall, it was 2:30 pm and it was time for Diana to leave for Galaxy Alliance's Headquarters to be there to greet the Voltron Force and her uncle beside her mother and a few of the high brass of the military branch of the Alliance.

After leaving her office, Diana stopped by a couple of her colleagues' offices before stopping at the receptionist desk. After a brief conversation, Diana reminded the receptionist that she will be on vacation for the next week because of all the events and the special guests she will be hosting at home. The receptionist sighed and stated how lucky Diana was to be surrounded by all the attractive men as well as royalty. "Especially, Lance McClain. I still remember all those hearts he set on fire while he was a cadet and his first post here." Diana rolled her eyes at the mention of Lance's name. The receptionist also pointed out that she wouldn't be surprised if Diana fell for the hotshot pilot. With that, Diana walked away from the desk and left the building.

While Diana was making her way to her sportscar, she could hear several whistles and catcalls from across the street and around the corner. Diana shook her head as some of the clients entering the center yelled that the men should show her a little more respect. As the two groups were yelling back and forth from opposite sides of the street, Diana remotely started her car and admired how the purple car was a mechanical work of art—next to jets and ships. When she made it to the car, Diana hopped in, briefly looked at the time, and pulled out of the parking lot quickly as the crowd admonished her for driving so fast.

Meanwhile at Galaxy Alliance's spaceport, Dr. Hyacinth Smythe-Williams was patiently waiting for Diana to make an appearance. Even at 50, Dr. Hyacinth Smythe-Williams was often told she looked more like an older sister to Diana instead of her mother. Dr. Smythe-Williams would state that she's been blessed with great genes and a balanced diet. Like Diana, Hyacinth stood at 5'11 and had a hourglass figure that was just slightly thinner than Diana's. Hyacinth's straight brown har ended just above her waist with the same dark brown eyes that Diana had.

A few feet behind her, the highest ranking brass of the Alliance's military branch stood, speaking amongst themselves about the speaking schedule for the Voltron pilots, in addition to Coran and Princess Allura. With nearly 70 years of military experience between them, Space Marshal Graham, Sky Marshal Wade, and Commander Estrucian were cut from the same physical cloth. Space Marshal Graham was the oldest at 55 years old and after 35 years of service was ready to enjoy his retirement. He had a full head of gray hair, was slightly pale, and stood at 6'1. Commander Estrucian was the next oldest with a muscular 46 year old body at 6'2. He also boasted of lightly bronzed skin and a cropped curly hairstyle. The youngest and most ambitious of the three was Sky Marshal Wade at 45 years old. He was 6'2" with greying hair, a fit physique and was lightly tanned with blue eyes.

Hyacinth was starting to believe that Diana was going to miss the Arusian ship arrive at the tarmac when she noticed a ship circling the airspace. Hyacinth used her smartwatch to call Diana to find out her current location. "Diana, what's going on? You're about to miss the ship land. They're starting to circle headquarters."

"Mom, I'm coming up behind you. I noticed the ship when it started to circle the base," Diana answered before hanging up. Diana hugged her mother with a smile. "See, I told you I'll be here on time."

"How fast were you going?" Hyacinth asked. "Please tell me you didn't get a ticket."

"I stayed within the speed limit…mostly."

Hyacinth shook her head before whispering into Diana's ear while they broke-up their hug. "Please don't start anything with Sky Marshal Wade. I don't want any confrontations in front of our guests… at least not today, anyway."

Diana rolled her eyes before responding, "I'll be on my best behavior. If he starts something, I won't finish it today." With a resigned sigh, Hyacinth allowed Diana to salute the military officers, before grabbing her arm as the Arusian ship finally landed.

"Let's go greet our honored guests. I know you're dying to see Princess Allura and your Uncle Coran, again." Diana shared a broad smile with her mother, as a ramp was pulled to the ship and the door opened.

The first person out of the transport was Pidge in his Alliance uniform and a bag on his shoulder. Behind him, Hunk's large uniformed frame followed Pidge, with his large bag also on his shoulder. Lance followed Hunk in full uniform, as well with his bag in tow. Diana noticed the handsome pilot and could see how Lance would be popular with the ladies. Coran left the ship next wearing his new Arusian suit with his maroon sash noting the Royal Order he was a part of since starting his civil service under King Alfor. Moments later, Allura and Keith stepped out of the carrier together. Allura was dressed in a white off-the-shoulder dress with blue piping and hems with a matching sapphire circlet. Keith stood next to her, wearing his Alliance uniform and carrying their bags.

Now that Diana was closer to the pilots, she noticed with the exception of her uncle, the Voltron Force was in the same age group she was and that made her even more impressed with their victory over Doom. The team place their bags on the ground before Hyacinth and Diana could speak.

"Your Royal Highness, Princess Allura and Your Excellency, Royal Advisor Coran…welcome to Earth," Hyacinth greeted as Diana joined her in a curtesy to both Allura and Coran.

With a smile and a salute, Diana greeted the Voltron pilots. "Commander Kogane, Lt. Commander Lance McClain, Sergeants Stoker and Garrett…welcome back to Earth." The guys responded with a smile and salute as well before replying it was great to be back on Earth.

"We're excited to finally host everyone at the Arusian Embassy. We hope that you'll enjoy your stay with us and that our hospitality will make you feel like home," Hyacinth continued before standing to the right of the group, and Diana to the left of the group as the marshals and commander made their way to the group. Everyone stood at attention and saluted the higher ranking officers.

With a broad smile, Commander Estrucian praised the Voltron Force for a job well done in Arus and expressed his hope that they would be able to impart some knowledge to the underclassmen and the graduating cadets during the week. Space Marshal Graham followed behind him, continuing the praise and stating what a honor it was for them to meet the Voltron Force on this side of the war. Finally, Wade made his inspection to personally address each person in the group.

"Miss Williams…have you considered my offer yet? I'm taking over next week and I could really use your help," Wade said, addressing Diana.

Diana mentally gritted her teeth and stated that she bet he does. "Actually, Sky Marshal, I have been working a full caseload at the Veteran's Center as well as successfully undertake a full graduate course load. I haven't made a decision yet, but once I do, I'll make sure to let you know. Although you should already know that my answer won't change. The answer will always be no! Diana thought to herself as Wade made a disapproval sound. He addressed Hunk and Pidge next, praising their superior mechanical and engineering abilities. Next, he addressed Coran and expressed how professionally he was happy to see Coran after so many years. He simply praised Allura for her leadership ability and for stepping in to help when Sven went down. Wade's conversation with Keith was a little tense, since Keith replied that he had no plans to leave Arus and that it was their permanent post. When it came to Lance, the conversation was hilarious. For every question Wade asked Lance, Lance provided a humorous answer. After several rounds, Wade grumbled whatever before slowly praising Lance's abilities and moved on finally to Hyacinth. After failing to flatter Hyacinth for a few minutes, he dismissed the pilots before taking the SUV Hyacinth had reserved from the Alliance motorpool.

"So much for the motor pool," Hyacinth stated as she briefly grabbed Diana's arm. "What are we supposed to do. The Embassy SUV won't be able to fit everyone comfortably."

"I can take the extra passenger, Mom. My car has enough legroom."

"Thanks, Diana. You're my favorite daughter."

"I'm your only daughter," Diana responded with a smile. Hyacinth rolled her eyes before turning back to their guests. Finally alone with their guests, Diana and Hyacinth were free to greet Coran and Princess Allura personally. Diana and Hyacinth hugged Coran first, sharing with him how much they missed visiting him. Hyacinth hugged Allura and fussed over her godchild with a motherlike zeal. When she was done, Diana laughed as she hugged Allura. After sharing how much they missed each other, the group walked towards the remaining SUV and Diana's sports car.

"Unfortunately, there was a minor miscommunication with the Alliance motorpool. So it'll be a tight fit into the Embassy SUV. Diana volunteered to take someone to the Embassy in her car," Hyacinth announced to the group.

Lance took a quick, admiring glance at Diana before deciding this could be the best time to make his first move for her. "Dr. Smythe-Williams, I'd love to be personally escorted by the lovely Diana to the Embassy."

Diana took a quick glance at Lance before nodding her head to her mother. Hyacinth gave Lance and Diana a polite smile, before responding. "Why thank you, Lt. Commander."

"It's my pleasure to be surrounded by such beautiful women," he continued as he laid the charm down thick. Diana rolled her eyes as she started for her car.

"This way, Lieutenant," Diana responded. Lance softly whistled and followed Diana to her car while taking appreciative glaze from the top of her body down to her feet. He couldn't help but enjoy how Diana's dressed seemed to perfectly hug her curves. While Lance was checking her out, Diana was doing the same thing as she admired how Lance perfectly filled out his uniform. Lance had a slim, muscular build and was analyzing how he may have achieved such a balance. Mentally, they both believed that the other one had the perfect view.

After glazing at each other for a few more moments, Diana unlocked the doors to the car and Lance tossed his bag in the back seat before entering the car. While Diana started the car and allowed it to warm up, Lance took the opportunity to take in the interior of her car. He admired how the leather seats and dashboard made the car luxurious and how quick the AC made the car comfortable. "You have a beautiful car. It's almost as beautiful as it's owner," Lance said, hoping to start a conversation.

Diana gave Lance a broad smile. "Aren't you a charmer?" She asked.

"I can be if given the choice," Lance replied back and paused for a few moments as Diana started to follow the black SUV with the rest of their guests. "By the way, did you enjoy the view?"

"It depends, which view are you talking about?" Diana asked coyly as she drove towards the southern gate, following her mother's scenic route.

"Which view do you think I'm talking about?"

Diana hid a short gasp. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about."

Lance chuckled before speaking again. "Did you enjoy the view on the way to your beautiful car? I know you were checking me out as much as I was checking you out."

"Funny you should mention that, Lieutenant," Diana replied.

"It's Lieutenant Commander. You can just call me Lance—no need for formalities."

"Anyway, I believe you were checking me out way more than I was checking you out. Did you enjoyed the view?"

Diana stopped the car at the traffic light before turning to Lance.

"Oh, I definitely enjoyed my view. I'll say that you were enjoying the view as well."

Diana rolled her eyes as the light changed and she drove across the intersection. "Maybe, I did and maybe I didn't."

Lance laughed for a few moments before Diana joined him. "Honestly, I would need to say that your eyes are my favorite feature on you. They sparkle with a combination of intelligence and sexiness. And your favorite feature on me?"

Diana stopped the car at the guard post. She waved at the MP who waved back before raising the gate so she could leave the base. "I'm not telling you that. You look handsome and you know it too. You probably have a whole harem of girls waiting for you to return to Arus."

"Believe it or not, I don't have a group of women waiting on me in Arus. As you may know, Arusian take relationships very seriously and even more so since Zarkon attacked them all those years ago."

"I remember some of the unwritten culture about Arus, but it's been years and I've practically been raised on Earth." Diana replied.

"I would say that you're beautiful and you probably use it. How many guys do you have lined up for you?"

"I would never use my looks. And anyway, I'm happily living the single life." Diana replied, with a smile. "But that doesn't mean I'm not aware of a growing fan club of sorts here. Some men admit it openly, others are more low-key. Then there are those I rather they pay no attention to me at all."

"Would you include Wade in the please stop staring at me category?" Lance asked. "He asked about an offer."

Diana cringed. "Oh, please. No. He better not have any designs on me," Diana continued. "I would never entertain that possibility. I don't trust him at all. For whatever reason, he wants me to work under him at Headquarters, but I don't want to work under him." Diana shivered as she finished her statement. "If it wasn't for certain people or events, I wouldn't go no less than a six foot pole away from. At. All. Times."

"That's some hatred did. What ever did he do to you? Make you fail a class?" Lance asked as Diana made another right and entering the neighborhood next to where the embassy stood.

"I should be asking you that, Lance. You're the one that answered all his questions with all those crazy answers. Do you have any idea how hard it was for me not to laugh along with you?"

"I was hoping someone was enjoying our conversation. You tell me your story, and I'll tell you mine."

"The story started when my father was stationed at Headquarters about the same time Arus was being attacked by Planet Doom. My family was on vacation in Hawaii after enjoying our last visit to Arus. My father was called back to base early and we had to go. When we made it to base, that's when we found out about Arus being attacked by the Doomite army. It wasn't too long before he kept asking my dad about Voltron. It was never proven, but a year after my father was stationed here, my father died in a car accident while my mother and I were seriously injured. I think Wade may had access to our car and tinkered with it," Diana stopped to take a deep breath before making another turn.

"As we were recovering from the accident and the loss of my father, Wade made it a point to visit my mother often at our house. For months, he would try to convince my mother to send me away to either the youth academy at Headquarters or into a boarding school up the east coast. Finally, my mother had to put her foot down and stated that I was going no where and she wouldn't have us be separated anytime soon. He stopped coming by the house. But when Voltron was revived, he started coming back around again. This time he was obsessed with lions, especially the Voltron lions."

Diana paused again before continuing. "One day, I was given a lion club by one of dignitaries from Planet Ariel. So while I was visiting relatives while Mom was bogged down with duties, my cub disappeared. Suspiciously, that's when Wade had a lion club the same age as Kenyatta. To make matters worst, I knew it was Kenyatta because Kenyatta recognized me before Wade shooed him away and muttering something about making him forget about me."

"Lately, he's been paying closer attention to me. I don't know why, but he's been looking at me differently lately. It's giving me the creeps considering our history and the fact we just don't get along." Diana shared. "To sum everything up. I think he killed my dad, was trying to separate my mother and I, he's a lion-napper, and I just hate the way he's been looking at me lately. I. DON'T. TRUST. HIM. AT. ALL." Diana took a cleansing breath before making the last turn to her neighborhood. "So…what's your story?"

"It's not as complicated as yours, but I can't trust him further than I could throw him. After a month of interactions in my upper level courses, Commander Estrucian got tired of seeing me in his office. So I was transferred to another flight instructor. It was at that point, when Wade kept trying to intimidate me. When that didn't work, he attempted to change my grades repeatedly to get me kicked out of the Academy. Everytime my grade changed suspiciously, I always bought it to Commander Estrucian's attention. I can't prove it, but I know that he tried to sabotage my training jet. He was the only one who had constant access to the jet besides myself."

"So he tried killing you as well," Diana mused. She stopped the car behind the Embassy SUV. It wasn't too long before the rest of the group was staring at them. "It's been interesting, Lt. Commander McClain. I got you safe and sound at the Embassy. I need to do some last minute errands, but I'll meet up with you later."

"Just call me Lance. Don't I get a kiss?" Lance asked winking.

"I don't kiss someone I just met," Diana replied, as she watched Lance grab his bag from the back. "Especially since I don't know where those lips been."

"What a shame," Lance replied, staring at her lips for a few moments. He stood up from the car and made his way to the front door, following the rest of his teammates. Diana poked her head out of the window.

"Just because I'm mostly an Earth girl, doesn't mean that I'm easy."

Lance winked before blowing a kiss at her. Diana rolled her eyes before driving down the driveway back towards the street.

Keith smacked the back of Lance's head when no one was looking. "I thought I told you to behave."

"I was behaving," Lance muttered as he rubbed his head for a few moments. "I actually enjoyed our conversation on the way here. I like her. I like her a lot.

"Just don't get us kicked out for breaking someone's heart, " Keith said.

"You don't understand Keith. I think she's the one for me," Lance stated as they followed Hyacinth and Koran into the embassy's foyer.

A few hours later the Voltron pilots were waiting to go inside a popular nightclub that Diana suggested they visit. Once everyone was settled into their rooms at the embassy, Diana left to take care of some last minute shopping, but promised to meet them at the Space Genius club. The guys decided to wear black slacks with different color shirts to go with their new look. Pidge was wearing his new pair of illusion glasses feeling comfortable with his new look. He was also getting used to his new haircut. Hunk was also trying out his new hairstyle with a small part in the front. Lance ditched his usual leather jacket for the night and was wearing a short-sleeved red, buttoned up shirt. Keith was keeping it monochrome in his button up shirt and was relishing his now shorter haircut. Next to him, Allura was wearing a knee-length blue spaghetti strap dress that hugged her trim frame and was happy to go without her circlet for an evening.

A few minutes after waiting in line, Diana arrived and smiled at her friends in line. As everyone was greeting her, Lance took the time to admire Diana's body again. Tonight, Diana decided to wear a red strapless dress that ended just past her thighs with matching red heels. Her curls were left loose to frame her face while she held a small red clutch purse. "Let's skip the line. I'm good friends with the club's manager." Nodding their heads, the group followed Diana to the front door. The guard smiled at Diana and her guests before opening the door for them. "Thanks, Terrance! You're my favorite guard!"

Terrance laughed before responding, "You say that to all the guards here. If it wasn't for you, I'm not sure where I'll be." Diana denied she was the overriding factor in his hiring before giving him a thumbs up before walking into the club with her guests. "Now that we're in, let's go to our VIP table." Diana led the group past the dance floor and until the loft where the VIP tables were. Once everyone settled in the corner booth, Diana announced with a smile the first round of drinks were on her. "Don't worry if the cocktails aren't your thing—nearly everything here is non-alcoholic!" The table erupted in cheers as Hunk and Pidge grabbed the drink menu. Keith moved closer to Allura and shared a smile with the princess. The next thing they knew, Diana and Lance had disappeared from the booth.

"Where did they go?" Keith asked the table, only to discover that Hunk and Pidge were also gone.

"It looks like they were giving us some privacy," Allura amusedly stated as she looked into Keith's eyes. "Everyone went to the dancefloor."

"Would you like to dance right now or enjoy some drinks first?" Keith asked.

"Let's have a couple of drinks first, then we can mingle with everyone else in the club."

Meanwhile on the dancefloor…

Diana was dancing in the middle of the crowd and just letting the beat of the music guide her moves. It wasn't too long before she felt like someone was watching her. Looking around while she danced, she couldn't figure out why she was having that feeling. After the song was done, Diana decided to go to the bar and see what happens. Just as she was on the edge of the floor, she felt strong hands grip her waist.

"Were you trying to give me the slip, Diana?" Lance whispered in her ear.

"Not at all. I enjoy dancing, so I made my way to the floor. You surprised me."

"I'm great at stealth as you can see. Let's see what else you're working with." Lance released her waist and guided her through the crowd. Once he was satisfied with where they were on the floor, Lance and Diana started dancing in-sync. Once the fast paced song ended and a slower song came on, Lance pulled Diana closer to him and placed his hands on her hips as Diana placed her hands on his shoulders. "You're a great dancer."

"Thanks. You're not too bad either," Diana replied with a smile. As the song continued, Diana and Lance looked into each others' eyes allowing a small spark to happen between them. Before Lance could lower his head to give Diana a kiss, the song ended and a set of techno beats started. With a mischievous grin, Diana pulled away and started dancing to the beat. Lance started dancing beside Diana and matched her moves. After the set was over, they decided to make their way to the table for a break and to check on everybody else. As they made it to the stairs to the VIP lounge, Diana and Lance noticed that Keith and Allura were bouncing to the metal songs being played. Laughing at the sight of the most responsible people in the group banging their heads to the music, Lance and Diana climbed the steps to the lounge. When they came to their booth, Lance was surprised to see Hunk and Pidge there with a couple of ladies in conversation. After a brief introduction, Lance and Diana ordered some mocktails. After sharing a couple of stories about Arus, Hunk, Pidge, and their guests left the table, leaving Diana and Lance alone at the table.

"So…I'm guessing that Keith and Allura are an item?"

"Yes, they're trying to keep it low-key, but everyone can tell. You only seen them in action for a few minutes and has already picked it up. Hopefully, they'll put it out in the open soon."

"Speaking about putting out in the open…" Lance started, waggling his eyebrows at Diana.

"I already told you that just because I'm an Earth girl, doesn't mean that I'm easy." Diana remarked with a smile, as she got up from the table. As Diana passed Hunk and Pidge, she couldn't help but say something about Lance. "Can you guys teach Lance some manners? Nanny must have missed him."

The guys laughed with Diana. "We would but it's useless. Lance has a mind of his own and sometimes it likes to stay in gutter sometimes," Pidge replied, making Diana laugh even louder as she made it to the stairs. Lance wasn't too far behind.

"You'll pay for that, little man," Lance said as he passed by Pidge. "For now, I got to get my woman."

"She's not yours yet," Hunk pointed out.

"Keyword yet," Lance called out as he took the stairs downtown to see if he could surprise Diana again in the dance crowd. It didn't take him too long to find Diana in the crowd and before Diana could react, she was dancing in his arms. "Mine."

"While stealthy, Lance…I'm not yours." Diana purred.

"Not yet. But you will be," Lance countered as he pulled Diana closer to him. The DJ announced a slow jam hour and Diana was trying to leave the dance floor. "Where do you think you're going? I'm not done with you yet." Lance whispered into her ear. Diana shivered in pleasure at the sound of Lance's voice in her ear. She could feel Lance's body heat as she turned to face him. Lance kept his hands on her waist while she draped her arms on his body and kept her hands intertwined behind his head.

Every so often, Lance would whisper a compliment in Diana's ear. In response, Diana would pay him a compliment back. While they were dancing, it felt like they were the only ones on the dancefloor. Lance would also allow his hand to stray on Diana's bottom and lightly smack it. When that happened, Diana would look into Lance's eyes in warning, but would soften the alarm as she ended up lost in his eyes. A few moments later, Diana would move closer to Lance's body making him groan in pleasure before whispering "Don't tease me like that."

"Whose teasing who?" Diana replied back with a smile, as the last slow jam played. Diana and Lance left the dance floor for the booth again and found the table was nearly full. On one side, Hunk and Pidge were talking to the ladies from before. On the other side, Keith and Allura were whispering amongst themselves and Diana couldn't help but smile at her childhood friend. Lance and Diana settled for the last side of the booth.

"That can be us, Diana," Lance whispered in her ear.

"I'm not ready for anything serious," Diana replied. "Why is that every time you whisper in my ear, I shudder?"

"In pleasure, I hope."

"I can't stand you," Diana replied with a smile.

"Definitely pleasure," He whispered and chuckled when he visibly noticed Diana's quivering. "I can't help it but it's so sexy when you do that."

"Stop that," Diana responded as she blushed. Allura noticed Diana's blush and Diana blushed even more. Diana gave Allura their secret look for bathroom trip. "I'm going to the ladies' room." Lance moved out of his seat and grabbed Diana's purse so she could go to the bathroom. Diana whispered her thanks as Allura stated she needed to go, too.

Diana and Allura shared how much they were enjoying their club experience as they entered the bathroom. Diana and Allura picked out stalls next to each other. "Aww! It never fails! I started my cycle and I don't have anything for it."

"That's what best friends are for. Would you be okay with a tampon for now?" Diana asked.

"Yes, that'll be fine," Diana handed Allura the wrapped tampon in Allura's hand under the stall. Diana finished using her stall and left it the same time as Allura left hers. They washed their hands as Allura thanked Diana again. "Don't mention it. I have a whole aisle worth of stuff in my room." Allura laughed as they left the bathroom and walked their way back to the table with the guys.

"So…what's going on with you and Keith? I sense a close relationship." Diana asked.

"Darn, I was hoping you wouldn't notice. Well, we're in a committed relationship, but we've been keeping it low key. We were talking about that when you and Lance returned to the table. We decided to share with everyone else what's going on. The real question is what's going on between you and Lance. I see some major sparks over there."

"It's just the first night," Diana replied with a smile. "Let's just have fun tonight and we'll see where it goes. I can't see a relationship coming out of this since after next week, he'll be back in Arus and I'll be on Earth. He's so not the committed type."

"I don't know about that. This is the first time I've seen Lance react the way he does with you. But, you're right. You should have fun and see where it leads you." Allura responded with a smile as they made it back to the booth. This time it was just the guys and it made the perfect picture. When Diana sat down, she stifled a yawn while trying not to be embarrassed at the same time.

Keith looked at his watch and was amazed at the time. "It's 1:15 in the morning. No wonder Diana is trying to get all of us to yawn with her."

"Hey, not my intention. Since it's late, let's get back to the Embassy. Tomorrow morning, while everyone sleeps in, I have a standing appointment with my mom and a workout. If I'm late in the morning, she'll kill me." Diana said. With a laugh, the group pooled their money together to leave a big tip, while Diana and Lance went to pay their bar tab. Allura, Hunk, Pidge, and Keith piled into the SUV they borrowed from the Embassy while Lance and Diana rode in her sportscar.

On the drive to the Embassy, Lance remarked about what Terrance said at the door. Diana smiled and shared her work at the Veteran's Center and how Terrance was one of her first clients. Lance remarked how amazing how Diana was so passionate about veterans and what they face when their service to the galaxy is finished. Diana shyly thank Lance, but stated that what she does isn't as amazing as being a Voltron pilot and be a major part of why a whole planet is free from oppression.

When the group arrived at the embassy and parked the cars, Diana guided everyone through the back door in the kitchen to avoid any extra attention. As they made it to the residential wing, Diana guided everyone to their rooms on the third floor. As Keith and Allura were conversating in front of Keith's door, Lance snatched Diana from one side of the stairs to the right side of the stairs.

"I still want my kiss from earlier."

"You're not going to get a kiss from me. I still don't know where you—" Lance interrupted Diana's statement with a passionate kiss on her lips. Before she could extend the surprise kiss, Lance broke it off. "What a kiss," Diana said softly.

"Your lips were delicious," Lance said breathlessly. Before he could say or do anything else, he heard Allura walking towards the staircase. "Have a good night and dream about me and all the possibilities." Lance wished Allura a good night before disappearing in his room. Allura turned to Diana and made all kinds of mushy faces at her. Diana blushed in response and ran up the stairs quickly, with Allura just behind her. Since their rooms were across from each other, they called out good night to each other. Allura teased Diana one last time about Lance before laughing and closing her door.

*****Present Day: The Void*****

"So, that's how I met Lance," Diana finished the story with a soft sigh.

"Wow! I knew it! You two did have sparks at first. I thought that Lance was just playing when he stated he felt sparks when he first met you," Chery exclaimed.

"I still can't believe that you told Lance not on the first night, twice," Bernice added as she stood and stretched her arms.

"Hey! I might be extremely liberal in the bed department, but give me some credit," Diana replied, shrugging her shoulders. "I don't let just anybody touch me. Especially one the first night."

"I wondered where the story that you made the first move came from?" Ethel asked. "I mean someone said that you did the first everything."

"I heard that before, too," Alex stated.

"Who told y'all that?" Diana asked, her interest peaked. "I would love to get to the bottom to some of these endless interpretations of that night."

"Well…Lance never did deny anything, when I asked him," Alex stated. Diana raised her eyebrow. "On the other hand, he didn't confirm anything either. He did say once that whatever I believed was fine since that memory was too precious to share."

"That's what he told me, too." Ethel stated.

"In fact…I think he helped embellished some of the stories," Cheryl added. "But to finally hear the truth, the story is sweeter than anything we would have ever imagined."

"Next time I see Lance, we're going to have a meeting between him, me, and my hands! He didn't had to add to the stories."

"I don't believe that one bit. When you see him, you're going to forget about everything and just focus on the present with him. I'll bet you a new bike that you'll forgive him easily," Alex stated.

"It wouldn't be fair…for you, I mean. But I would love a new bike…so you're on," Diana said. "Anyway—"

"PLAYTIME IS OVER! All prisoners are ordered to return to the cells. I repeat, all prisoners are to return to their cells." The announcement over the speakers boomed.

"Saved by the announcement. Who ever is going to go next better get their story ready for the next time we meet in the yard," Diana finished as the group stood up from the benches and headed towards their wing.
