Chapter 10: Glow-in-the-Dark Invitations

One cold second Saturday of November 2020, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Katie Jennis's house in Springdale. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Katie was making her Glow-in-the-Dark invitations for her Glow-in-the-Dark Sleepover while we ate different kinds of pancakes for breakfast. "Wow, Katie, those look extraordinarily cool!" I exclaimed. "The neon pens and stickers work perfectly on pieces of black card stock." "Why thank you, Angel!" Katie remarked. "Those would be perfect to cheer up a friend who is sad on her birthday," I remarked. "It would be cool if Sarah and Henri made me a glow-in-the-dark invitation for my surprise party." "Yes, it would have been cool," James agreed. "But, I already took you on a special drive around Natrona Heights." "How about if we made these delicious blueberry pancakes for my birthday breakfast?" "That would be yummy," Henri agreed, licking his lips. "While I just have normal pancakes, Sarah has pancakes shaped like cats, James has silver dollar pancakes, and Henri has pancakes shaped in the first letter of his name on it," I pointed out. "What about me, Angel?" Katie asked. "I have plain pancakes, too." "You guys should have been with me on Thursday when I had a mini childhood chat with Kate and her guests," I explained. "There were lots of fun games to play, and Katie even ate a great lunch, which was a personal pizza with rainbow fruit salad and strawberry shortcake. And best of all, they all reunited at Monroeville Mall for a special reunion!" "I forget, Katie," James stated. "Are you the one who attends Carnegie Mellon University?" "Yes, James," Katie agreed. "That's where all of us went to college, too," James pointed out. "My high school graduation was amazing and awesome." "We know, because we were there," I pointed out. "Well, I wasn't there," Henri stated sadly. "Where did you and Henri attend high school once James graduated?" Katie asked. "We went to Taylor Allderdice High School, Katie," Sarah explained. "You girls graduated from high school in 2017, right?" James asked. "Yes," Katie replied. "Well, I graduated high school in 2006," James replied. "That makes me the oldest of the 4 of us, with all of us born 2 years apart from each other." We then helped Katie deliver the invitations to her 4 guests Jenna, Natalie, Molly, and April. I explained to my friends how each of the guests got a chance to host a slumber party for their different years of high school together. After our shift was over, Sarah, James, and Henri drove me back to my mentor, Jenna's apartment in Point Breeze. "Thanks for a great day, guys!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
