iCarly: What's Next for Sam

(circa 2009-2010)

I do not own iCarly or any of the characters.

Sam Puckett was always a tomboy. She grew up in a bad neighborhood with a neglectful mother. In the shadow of her sister Melanie, Sam wanted to be set apart from her twin. All the anger and resentment in her childhood, she couldn't help but lash out at people and it got her attention although negative. There was one person that she couldn't lash out toward. A fellow classmate named Nate Garner. Carly asked him to the dance and he turned her down. What Carly didn't know was that Sam also had a crush on Nate.

A few days after the dance, Sam got a surprising text from an unknown number. "Hey Sam, wanna go out tonight? Nate." Sam looked at her blue phone in shock. She wondered why Nate would text her. She immediately responded "yes." Sam was not one to get dressed up for people and never wore dresses, so she settled on skinny jeans and a purple plaid top with a black jacket. Sam met her at the movie theater and they saw Monsters VS Aliens.

The next morning was a school day. Sam didn't want anyone to know she was going soft, so she blazed right past Nate in the hallway. Nate felt slightly hurt and decided to go through with the humiliation on that day. Sam fell asleep in Mrs. Briggs class. Her soft snoring was drowned out by the ruckus of the class. Mrs. Briggs had yet to arrive for class. Nate figured that now was the best time. Slowly he took out some scissors from his pocket and smiled devilishly. Rebecca Berkowitz gaped at him. She was the girl that Nate was really dating.

Nate took one of Sam's curls and cut it just below her shoulders. Rebecca laughed quietly as to not wake Sam. One by one, Nate cut off all of Sam's locks. Just then Mrs. Briggs walked in and slammed the door. The noise startled Sam and her head shot up. As Sam became aware of her surroundings, she froze. Something wasn't right. She glanced behind and saw Nate smirking, holding a giant handful of her hair.

When Sam realized what was wrong, she bolted out of the classroom and out of the school, red backpack in hand. She pulled out her black hoodie and put it on; the hood pulled over her head. She didn't have time to cry until she was a safe distance from the school. No one was going to see her cry in public. She walked downtown into a coffee shop and went into the bathroom. She pulled the hood down to survey the damage. Her mid back length locks had been horribly hacked and fell in jagged edges near her shoulders.

Sam took a deep breath and let loose a few tears. She wiped the tears away, it was just hair after all. She realized that it was uneven and needed to be fixed. She went to the nearest hair salon, which also happened to be the cheapest. She asked for a trim to even out her hair and made the horrible excuse of "layers gone wrong". The lady took her to a chair and looked at the damage. She started to cut Sam's hair, little blonde ringlets fell to the floor. Sam felt the scissors brush her collarbone, she grimaced. She would end up having short hair all because of Nate. How could she have trusted him?

When the lady was finished, Sam opened her eyes dreading the result. Her curls loosened into waves that fell to her shoulder, with layers and side bangs. For some crazy reason, she actually liked this style. Sam was going to confront Nate about what he did, but she first texted Carly and asked her advice.

Carly looked at her phone and contemplated; what Nate did to Sam was mean, but he was just trying to show her what bullying does to people. Carly texted this to Sam. As much as Sam hated, Carly was right. Sam took in a deep breath and just let her anger disappear. No more beating people up, it was a new day and Sam Puckett was a new person.
