The four boys watched as the girl Max had been talking to brushed past them, a low whistle coming from one of their mouths. Three of the four boys had been trying to give their sire a little privacy for once in their undead lives and not listen to the conversation they had been having. David was the one that had kept his attention on the conversation. Once the girl had blended into the crowd they moved their eyes back to Max who had, unsurprisingly, noticed the four of them. They had to admit, they were pretty hard to miss. Only moving his eyes to David he motioned for the four's leader to step inside. Nodding the blonde held an arm out, stopping the other three from following.

"Let me handle this." He said shortly before heading inside. To say he was surprised to see the girl was an understatement, he was deadset on the idea of never seeing her again. He could tell Max was feeling the same way, the shock on his face was evident, though David was sure there was something more going on. The look on the older man's face said enough, looking more stressed than usual.

"When did she get here?" David asked as he approached Max, looking casual with his hands in his pockets and eyebrows raised. Max sighed before removing his glasses and rubbing his eyes.

"I can only assume just now. I'm guessing you were listening?" It wasn't a question that they both didn't already know the answer to so David didn't respond. "Listen I don't want any problems between the two of you, alright?" A chuckled came from David,

"Yeah? Let's just hope she doesn't try anything then." It wasn't a secret between the Max, David, and Irene that the two younger ones didn't get along. They never had and in their minds never were two sides of the same coin. David loved being what he was, relishing in the fact he would live forever and do what he wanted. Irene hated the vampire life, she never asked to be one or wanted to. There was so much she wanted to do in her human life that would never be possible in her lifetime. David never understood her dislike for the lifestyle and Irene didn't understand his enjoyment of it.

"David don't instigate." Max warned as he put his glasses back on. "But I do need you to do me favour. I'm sure I'll regret it later but I need you to follow her. Make sure she doesn't do something reckless. You know how she gets when she's mad."

"So you want me to be her babysitter?" David asked, not feeling the idea. In his head she knew what she was getting into when she came back. Her and Max rarely got along, less than Max and himself. She should've just ran like she always wanted to. She was able to leave to wherever the hell she did all those years ago. She could have stayed gone. This was her fault.

"I can't risk losing her. She can't do anything too reckless just make sure she doesn't make a scene." David knew it would be a losing battle to try to say no to Max when he was determined so the blonde didn't waste his time and just nodded. Max, being pleased with his answer gave a smile that anyone could tell was fake. "Thank you." Not bothering to respond David made his way out of the store and back to his brothers. Paul and Marko were busy trying to get some girls' attention that they hadn't been paying much attention to conversation inside. Dwayne didn't try to hide the fact he had been listening.

"Let's go boys."

In the time it had taken David and Max to talk Irene had already made her way down the beach in search of prospects. The sandy shore was much more bearable than the crowded boardwalk. The smell of food, sweat, and hormones got washed away with the salty ocean air and the noisy chatter and obnoxious music faded with each step away she took in the opposite direction.

People littered the beach, but it wasn't nearly as crazy as the boardwalk. It did make it easier to gauge who'd be a low risk target. That was how she ended up with the lifeless body of some boy she met five minutes ago. He had been drunk from some bonfire some ways away from where she attacked him that he never knew what was coming. She promised him a good time but he didn't know for who. Her previous conversation with Max still lingered in her head and she got the better of her so her kill was more gruesome than she had tried for. It did help make the cleanup faster though.

The part of the beach she stood was empty aside for her and the torso of the boy. She had already chucked the legs and arms in different directions and was about to rip the head from the torso before she felt the presence of others behind her. Letting out an annoyed groan she turned around, not surprised to find the one person she despised besides Max, David. She didn't recognize the three guys that stood behind him so she assumed they came around after she had already left Santa Carla.

"Did Max send you to check up on me? Or did you just miss me that much?" Irene asked, sarcasm lacing the second sentence. Looking David up and down she realized he hadn't changed much, his hair was still long and blonde, and the cocky smile still graced his face. The girl always hoped she'd never see his ice blue eyes or that smirk again. That was the whole point of moving across the country after all, well that and getting away from Max.

"In his words he wanted to make sure you didn't make a scene. You do get a little dramatic when things don't go your way." His response made her roll her eyes and scoff.

"Yeah, you're one to talk about being dramatic. Remember your first kill, nearly got the both of us killed instead." The two mirrored glares as Marko, Paul, and Dwayne swapped glances. The three of them weren't sure what was going on. David never mentioned this girl, or a girl in general and neither had Max. They two obviously had history but they weren't sure if it was a good idea to intererupt the confrontation.

"Actually I remember helping you feed that night. You couldn't kill someone to save your life. I'm sure you remember that, right?" Irene and David had very different accounts of that night it seemed.

"Yes that was so helpful, you forced me to do something I didn't even want to do! Now I see where you got that from. The more I think about it you and Max have so much in common. You both never cared about what happened to me, if you couldn't convince me to do something then Max would just make me." With each word coming from her mouth the more angry Irene became. She wasn't able to ever voice this with their sire without him stopping her, David couldn't make her stop.

"If you hate us so much then you shouldn't have come back."

"You know what, for once you're right, David. I shouldn't have, I wish I didn't but now Im fucking stuck here because Max doesn't trust me enough to leave again, and now I have to get back to him since the suns going to start coming up soon. Don't worry I'll be sure to tell him you checked up on me. I'm sure he'll love to know that you did exactly what you told him to like you usually do." Irene turned and started back down the beach, trying to get as much distance between her and the four boys. Oh how much she wanted to let the rays of sun that would be making their presence above the horizon touch her skin. Or to take a stick and stick it through her heart. Anything would be better than being stuck in Santa Carla.
