Prologue

"Take this you filthy bloodsuckers!" Voices echoed along the cave walls followed by screams as three girls fell to the ground, their instincts catching them on their feet before they met the ground. The first girl tumbled down, landing with a thud, a wooden stake plunged into her chest. Her body became engulfed in flames as soon the intruders could get over their small win. They didn't wait around to watch the flames dance around the cave as it brought a sinister glow to their surroundings.

"Marlene!" A second girl yelled out to the soot remains of her friend before trying to run over to the fire, her eyes glowing yellow as she stared at the ones responsible. Her blonde hair was a mess from the sleeping arrangements that night and the back of her shirt was ripped from snagging onto something during the fall. The hunters looked scared but charged at her anyway, this time with a match and an aerosol can. They weren't hesitant to spray into the fire at all, letting the female vampire light up in flames before he screams were the next to die out quickly.

"Abby!" The third girl, Victoria, shouted. Her short brown hair barely moving as she tried to tackle Abby to the ground before the hunters got to her, but she was too late. Her sister was the next to go. It was her turn to try and get revenge for her family. The only one left was Irene, the oldest vampire in their coven. She had been the one to bring the other three girls in, turning them and helping them through the most difficult times.

"Run!" Victoria shouted, eyes widening as she watched her remaining sister racing towards the three men that began crowding around her. "Don't! Just go!" Irene's eyes were filled with rage as she tackled one of the men. She made quick work of him before moving onto the next.

"Oh, looks like we got ourselves a fighter!" The voices echoed again before a stinging sensation ran up Irene's arm. Holy water.

She hesitated for a moment, trying to bite back a groan that the holy water had caused. It was in that moment she watched her final sister be set alight.

She had no time to think. She couldn't take on two men who were armored up enough to take out a whole coven.

So she did the only thing she could.

She ran.
