A Dream of the Sky

Who gave the birds their wings to fly?

Who gave the gift of soaring by?

How do they feel off the ground?

Where freedom's up there to be found?

What stripped the People of their wings?

Oh evolution, cruelest thing.

Or was our loss by one's design?

Either way for wings we pine.

Wings are now retained by sprites.

Who alone keep the gift of flight.

But for elves and pixies under stone,

The loss of sky is long bemoaned.
